Many people don’t want to do anything with their lives. But if you decide to do any legitimate thing you find, very soon, you will have what to do.

SCRIPTURE: Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might; for there is no work, nor device, nor knowledge, nor wisdom, in the grave, whither thou goest”. Ecclesiastes 9:10

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: When you do what you find, very soon, you will locate what you want.

One of the reasons why we have many idle people today is the issue of over-selectivity. Today, graduates and job applicants are too selective of what to do.

In our generation, many people are too selective. That is why we have idle people everywhere. Many people don’t want to do anything with their lives. But if you decide to do any legitimate thing you find, very soon, you will have what to do.

Let me give you an illustration: Some time ago, one young man went to an office where they were looking for a person to employ as a dispatch rider to distribute letters to different places. They were looking for a Senior Secondary School Certificate holder as a dispatch rider but he had a HND (Higher National Diploma) and was already through with his National Youth Service. He told them he was interested in the work. But they told him, “You are over qualified. We are looking for an SSCE holder”. Still, he told them he was interested in the job. When they saw his tenacity, they employed him and made him a supervisor. They still went on to look for another person to employ as a dispatch rider. You see, they saw the alacrity in him and could not let him go. They needed a human resource material like him.

Beloved, when you do what you find, very soon, you will locate what you want.

DEALING WITH IDLENESS

Refuse to sit down doing nothing. Do not watch time moving and nothing is happening in your life. Work for God! Give out a tract! Lead a soul to Christ! Engage in voluntary services! Invest your energy in lending a helping hand to someone in need of physical help. Do something!

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: Do what you find until you find what you want.

In our previous studies we saw the dangers of idleness.

Now, we shall seek to answer the question: What is the way out of idleness?

I shall give you two counsels as a way of answering the above question.

1. Destroy idleness by all means (Ecclesiastes 9:10)

Refuse to sit down doing nothing. Do not watch time moving and nothing is happening in your life. Work for God! Give out a tract! Lead a soul to Christ! Engage in voluntary services! Invest your energy in lending a helping hand to someone in need of physical help. Do something!

2. Do what you find until you find what you want

Do what you find until you find what you want. For example, if you have a master’s degree in Architecture and there is no vacancy for master’s degree holders in Architecture yet; if the only work you see is a menial job at a construction site, make up your mind to go for that job. If you studied Marine Engineering and there is no sea in the city where you live, look for anything you can lay your hands on to do.

Ecclesiastes 9:10 says, “Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do…” The Scripture did not say, “…whenever you findeth your profession; whenever you findeth what you studied in school”. Rather, the Scripture says: “Whatsoever your hands findeth…” When you look for whatever is “findable”, you will definitely see what to do.

So, make up your mind to destroy the spell of idleness.

THE DANGER OF IDLENESS

A lazy person has no deadline and where there is no deadline, there is no headline.

SCRIPTURE: By much slothfulness the building decayeth; and through idleness of the hands the house droppeth through. Ecclesiastes10:18

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: Idleness equals decadence.

It has been established that idleness is a deadly enemy of destiny. A lazy person cannot amount to anything reasonable in life. The indolent cannot fulfil destiny.

Today, we shall look at the dangers of idleness.

1. Indolence is a door way to bondage

Idleness establishes the life of an idle person in perpetual bondage. Captivity will always lurk around the idle person. The termination of captivity is not for the idle. Victory belongs only to the strong; the audacious are always victorious. Victory belongs to the fighter and not to the indolent person.

2. Idleness equals decadence (Eccl. 10:18).

An idle life degenerates in the same way an idle tyre goes flat. An idle life degenerates just the same way an idle or unoccupied house degenerates. Idleness equals decadence.

3. Idleness paralyzes potential (Eccl. 10:18).

A man of great potential will become useless in a short time because of the refusal to do anything. He is not profitable to himself; he is not profitable to God and he is not profitable to his nation.

On the other hand, active people are smart people. The more active a person is, the smarter he becomes. A busy person knows how to meet deadlines and get a job done.

It is very important to know this: A lazy person has no deadline and where there is no deadline, there is no headline.

Beloved, always engage your hand in something worthwhile and profitable.

Remember this: Idleness equals decadence.

Reuben became irrelevant because of the refusal to accept responsibility.

SCRIPTURE: By much slothfulness the building decayeth; and through idleness of the hands the house droppeth through. Ecclesiastes10:18

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: Reuben became irrelevant because of the refusal to accept responsibility.

The Scripture makes it clear that one of the tragedies of Reuben was the spell of indolence. This spell of indolence even affected the future generations of Reuben. When Deborah was to go to battle, she called the Reubenites, but they were indecisive (Judges 5:15-16).

Judges 5:16 says, “… For the divisions of Reuben there were great searchings of heart.” The Reubenites seemed to be asking themselves, “Should we go to the battle? Should we not go? Let’s relax”. This rendered the Reubenites indecisive and useless. You know, the lack of both agility and sense of responsibility on the part of Reuben was the reason why Joseph was sold into slavery.

As the firstborn, when his brothers wanted to kill Joseph, Reuben suggested to them that Joseph should be put in a pit instead of being killed. He made that suggestion so he could rescue him from the pit later. But they went and sold him instead. When Reuben returned later to rescue Joseph from the pit, it was too late because he (Joseph) had been sold. As the first born, Reuben should have stood his grounds and told them, “I am the first born in this family. You will not touch this boy. I will take him home now”. If he had insisted, he would have prevailed over his brothers but he refused to take responsibility and Joseph was sold into slavery.

If you are looking for kings or priests in Israel, you would go to the tribe of Judah or the tribe Levi. Reuben became irrelevant because of the refusal to accept responsibility.

Beloved, by all means, resist idleness.

The spell of idleness has been confirmed to be a major killer of destiny.

SCRIPTURE: And it came to pass, after the year was expired, at the time when kings go forth to battle, that David sent Joab, and his servants with him, and all Israel; and they destroyed the children of Ammon, and besieged Rabbah. But David tarried still at Jerusalem. 2 Samuel 11:1-4.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: Idleness is a major doorway to unrighteousness.

The spell of idleness has been confirmed to be a major killer of destiny. One of the things that almost finished the destiny of David, King of Israel was the spell of idleness (2 Samuel 11:1-4).

When kings were supposed to go to battle, David, as a king, sent Joab who was not a king while he (David) tarried still in Jerusalem. This was abnormal! David tarried still in Jerusalem, and in that state of idleness, he arose from his bed in the evening time and saw a woman washing herself. And the woman was very beautiful to look upon. He sent to inquire of her, and then sinned with her. That became a disaster he never fully recovered from. He was idle and that idleness led him into unrighteousness.

Please don’t forget this: idleness is a major doorway to unrighteousness. A young man may decide to become an armed robber after sitting at home for a long time without doing anything. Occultists can even invite him to join them since he has nothing to do with his life.

Beloved, when you refuse to do what you are meant to do, you will begin to do what you are not meant to do. That shall not be your portion in Jesus’ Name.

Remember this: Idleness is a major doorway to unrighteousness.

KEEPING THE RIGHT COMPANY

Love everyone but relate with people who will enhance your life and destiny.

SCRIPTURE: He that walketh with wise men shall be wise: but a companion of fools shall be destroyed. Proverbs 13:20.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: Love everyone but relate with people who will enhance your life and destiny.

In our previous study, we saw that your company determines your destiny. Positive company enhances productive destiny while negative company reduces quality destiny.

Now, what are my counsels on the kind of company you should keep?

1. Associate correctly (2 Cor. 6:14).

Ensure that you associate correctly. Whether it is marital association or any other form of association, make up your mind to associate correctly. You cannot be on fire for God and marry a water-brand person. Associate correctly!

2. Disconnect from the wrong Influence (2 Cor. 6:15-18).

We have been commanded to love everybody, but never commanded to befriend everybody. Bishop David Abioye once said, ‘Love is a command but relationship is a choice’. Love everyone but relate wisely. Love everyone but relate with people who will enhance your life and destiny.

3. Ask God to send the right people into your life on a consistent basis (Mat 7:7).

Tell God to send the right people into your life. This is because a thousand good friends are not enough but one bad friend is too many (paraphrased from a saying of Archbishop Benson A. Idahosa of blessed memory).

Beloved, if you must mind your destiny, you must also mind your company.

Remember this: Love everyone but relate with people who will enhance your life and destiny.

REVELATION: THE LIFTER OF LIVES AND DESTINIES

People go up in life and destiny by revelation.

SCRIPTURE: And I went up by revelation, and communicated unto them that gospel which I preach among the Gentiles, but privately to them which were of reputation, lest by any means I should run, or had run, in vain. Galatians 2:2

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: People go up in life and destiny by revelation.

You are welcome to the month of November, the eleventh month of the year 2020, our year of Supernatural Shift. The Lord shall perfect all that concerns you in this eleventh month, in Jesus’ Name.

In our study today, we shall be looking at one subject that is very vital to the life of a believer; it is called Revelation. Light or insight is an asset of inestimable value in the life of a spiritual person. Thus, one of the greatest assets of a spiritual person is not just the frequency of his or her church attendance; it is not religiosity, neither is it about knowing the pastor; rather, it is revelation, light or insight from the Word of God.

Now, let me give you one reason why revelation is such a vital asset to the child of God:

Revelation Brings Elevation

Revelation brings elevation. This illustration will help you understand how: One day, Jesus Christ asked His disciples a question, “Whom do men say that I the Son of man am?”(Matthew 16:13). They replied, “Some say that thou art John the Baptist: some, Elias; and others, Jeremias, or one of the prophets.”

But Peter said, “Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.” When Peter got correctly who Jesus Christ is, Jesus answered and said unto him, “...thou art Peter...”(Matthew 16:16-18).

Jesus seemed to say to Peter, “For having access to the revelation of who I am, I shift you from Simon and upgrade you to Peter.”

Please note that Simon means reed, a kind of sea grass, but Peter means rock. Thus Simon (shaky grass) was shifted and upgraded to Peter (solid rock) at the frequency of the revelation. The status of Simon was actually changed to Peter at the frequency of revelation.

Beloved, when light comes, people rise. So, make up your mind to go up in life by accessing the revelation of God’s Word.

Remember this: People go up in life and destiny by Revelation.

SCRIPTURE: Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life. Proverbs 4:23

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: What you meditate on determines what you magnetise.

Yesterday, we saw some key facts about the mind-set. We saw that mind-set determines action and outcome in life.

Today, we shall be looking at three more key facts on mind-set.

1. Mind-set is magnetic.

What you meditate on determines what you magnetise (Proverbs 4:23). So, who you are inside affects who you attract around your life. If you are a person that is victory-minded, or positivistic, then those are the kind of people you are going to attract into your life. But if you are a pessimistic and negativistic person, then you will see pessimistic people around your life.

It is very important to know that you cannot change your life until you change your mind. And when your mind is changed, every other thing can be changed.

2. Mind-set either facilitates or frustrates divine intervention.

Mind-set either facilitates or frustrates Divine intervention. If what is on your mind is positive, God will answer it (Ephesians 3:20). Those who are too negative, pessimistic, doubtful, fearful and timid can never see God at work in their lives.

3. How you see yourself determines how the enemy sees you and handles you.

The children of Israel were like grasshoppers in their own eyes and so were they in the eyes of their enemies (Numbers 13:33). How you see yourself determines how the enemy sees you and how he deals with you. Make up your mind to see yourself the way God sees you.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: The spirit of rejection is one of the greatest challenges in life.

Some time ago, I saw three of my pictures in a magazine: one was used as a back cover; another was in the centre page and my wife opened the magazine and looked at it. I also looked at the magazine and told my wife that I liked the man in that picture. The man is solid, strong and very fine. He is not a bad man at all. My wife started laughing and asked, “Why are you talking like that?” Then I said that it is called healthy self-esteem. It is called correct mentality.

You know, there are people who hate their image in the mirror. They look at themselves in the mirror and feel insulted. They hate to look at themselves. Anytime you want to understudy your self-esteem, pick a tape recorder and do a recording of your speech. Then begin to play and listen to it. How you feel about it will show you how you think about yourself. Many people hate to listen to their recorded voice. What is your impression about yourself? How do you feel listening to yourself?

Beloved, how do you see yourself? The spirit of rejection is one of the greatest challenges in life. This spirit followed some people from their childhood.

But that devil is a bastard liar!

Beloved, God shall renovate your mind in Jesus’ Name.

THE GRASSHOPPER MENTALITY

Inferior mentality or low self-esteem is the strength of captivity, adversity and calamity.

SCRIPTURE: And there we saw the giants, the sons of Anak, which come of the giants: and we were in our own sight as grasshoppers, and so we were in their sight. Numbers 13:33.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: Inferior mentality or low self-esteem is the strength of captivity, adversity and calamity.

It has been confirmed that one deadly enemy of destiny is called inferiority complex, rejection or low self-esteem.

Dr Mike Murdock calls it the “Grasshopper mentality”. It is the mentality one has when one says, “I am not like other people. I cannot make it in life. God does not love me. Other people can succeed but not me.” Inferior mentality or low self-esteem is the strength of captivity, adversity and calamity. Resist it!

In Numbers 13:33, where Dr Mike Murdock got the phrase, the “Grasshopper mentality”, the Bible says, “And there we saw the giants, the sons of Anak, which come of the giants: and we were in our own sight as grasshoppers, and so we were in their sight.”

Can you see how the children of Israel saw themselves? They saw themselves as grasshoppers; that is, they were confined by their mentality to the grass.

When people talk, they simply manifest the mentality they have in them. For instance, you tell someone, “I saw your name as one of the new employees the Central Bank of Nigeria just shortlisted. Are you not John Michael?” And he may say, “Me? Who ‘dash monkey banana?’ It must be another John Michael.” He has limited his destiny to that of a monkey and its constant feeding on banana because of inferiority complex. That will never be your portion in Jesus’ Name.

Beloved, determine never to be resisted by inferiority complex.

Sometime ago, God’s servant, Bishop David Oyedepo, who is my pastor, said that he was preaching in church one day, then a woman got angry, carried her Bible and walked out of the service.

He made a particular statement in the message he was preaching and the woman said, “These people should know how to talk and not talk anyhow.” She walked out of the church talking carelessly. Before she could cross the road, an affliction landed on her tummy. She went from place to place for healing, but all to no avail, until she came to a pastor who is prophetic in operations.

The pastor told her, “This affliction is from God. You spoke against a man of God. You reacted against a man of God. And that is the only man who can pray for your healing”. So, she had to return to God’s servant, Bishop Oyedepo and confessed her sins. That was how she was prayed for by the compassionate God’s servant and she was delivered.

Beloved, refuse to rebel against spiritual authority; rebellion against spiritual authority is a highway to calamity and tragedy.

When rebellion begins to raise its ugly head in your life, reject and resist it.

SCRIPTURE: And the sons of Eliab; Nemuel, and Dathan, and Abiram. This is that Dathan and Abiram, which were famous in the congregation, who strove against Moses and against Aaron in the company of Korah, when they strove against the Lord: Numbers 26:9

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: When rebellion begins to raise its ugly head in your life, reject and resist it.

It has been confirmed that rebellion is a killer of destiny. To disregard authority is to lose your destiny. That is why it is important to deal with the spirit of rebellion.

Today, we shall be looking at therapies for rebellion.

To avoid the lifestyle of rebellion, do the following:

1. Resist the spirit of rebellion.

Reject the spirit of rebellion. When rebellion begins to raise its ugly head in your life, reject and resist it.

Personally, I believe that God has helped me, and He is still helping me. And I am still begging Him for His help because I have decided not to leave myself without a head or an authority over my life and ministry at any point in time. Hands are being laid on my head by my spiritual cover every year.

2. Decide to remain under authority (Jer. 3:15)

Decide to have a listening ear for people in authority. If you look through Scriptures, you will see the stories of people who decided that no one would talk to them, and how they ended in disaster. So, decide to remain under authority.

3. Avoid the company of the rebellious

Dothan, Korah and Abiram rebelled and strove against Moses and the earth opened its mouth and swallowed them (Numbers 26:9-11). Avoid the company of the rebellious. There are people who sit in church and comfortably criticise the message being preached by the pastor. They criticise the preacher and everything going on in the church. That is rebellion; avoid it!

Remember this: When rebellion begins to raise its ugly head in your life, reject and resist it.

Do not struggle to be like another person; struggle only to be what God wants you to be.

SCRIPTURE: I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus. Philippians 3:14.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: Do not struggle to be like another person; struggle only to be what God wants you to be.

Previously, we saw the dangers of strife. When a person agrees to strive, he loses focus in life and destiny. Strife is harmful to life and destiny, and must be totally avoided.

Today, we shall be looking at the therapies for strife or how to deal with the spirit of strife.

1. Struggle only to be what God wants you to be (Phil. 3:14).

Do not struggle to be like another person; struggle only to be what God wants you to be.

Like Apostle Paul, press toward the mark of your high calling in God (Philippians 3:14). Make up your mind to be all what God wants you to be.

2. Refuse every invitation to competition (2Tim. 2:24)

Refuse every invitation to competition. Refuse the attempt of people wanting to draw you into contention. Avoid people’s deliberate invitation to competition and strife.

3. Wish everybody well (1 Peter 2:1).

Pray for anyone who wants to strive with you. Wish everyone well and pray for them from the depth of your heart. If you do that, hatred dies. When you pray for someone, you are sowing a seed that you will reap in your life. You cannot tell God to make someone become everything He wants them to be without God making you become everything you are meant to be.

Remember this: Do not struggle to be like another person; struggle only to be what God wants you to be.

LOSS OF FOCUS – A DISTRACTION OF DESTINY

Whenever you agree to strive with someone, your focus is taken off where you are going in life.

SCRIPTURE: And they digged another well, and strove for that also: and he called the name of it Sitnah. Genesis 26:21

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: Whenever you agree to strive with someone, your focus is taken off where you are going in life.

It has been established that focus is distracted where strife is established. Whenever you agree to strive with someone, your focus is taken away from where you are going in life.

You know, where there is no focus, disaster is inevitable. Can you imagine a driver driving on high speed looking at another driver who is also driving on high speed? An accident is inevitable!

I give you one illustration: In October 1988, while I was travelling to Benue state, Nigeria, with other passengers on board, we had a terrible accident. The driver of the vehicle I boarded overtook another driver who was also on top speed. Both drivers were overtaking each other until the two vehicles came to a bend and could not overtake each other again and an accident happened. That was a practical manifestation of “mumulity” (foolishness). When the overtaking became dangerous and the accident occurred, I felt my head touch the ground. Finally, I saw myself sitting on the ground and my bag was beside me. The way God delivered me from death in that accident was unbelievable. Many deaths occurred as a result of the accident. What a disaster!

This is what happens when people take their focus off where they are going in life. Disaster is inevitable when people lose their focus and engage in competition with others.

Today, I counsel you not to lose your focus. Face God and He will take you to your destiny.

Remember this: Whenever you agree to strive with someone, your focus is taken off where you are going in life.

Focus is distracted where strife is established.

SCRIPTURE: And the herdmen of Gerar did strive with Isaac's herdmen, saying, The water is ours: and he called the name of the well Esek; because they strove with him. Genesis 26:20.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: Focus is distracted where strife is established.

The lifestyle of strife and bitterness is a deadly enemy of destiny. Another word for strife or bitterness is competitive jealousy. The lifestyle of strife finished people like Lot and Absalom in the Bible. Lot began to compete with his uncle, Abraham, who brought him out from Haran. Absalom strove with David, his father. Both Lot and Absalom ended in disaster and tragedy.

Please take note of the following key thoughts:

a. Progress is arrested where strife is manifested (Gen. 13:17)

You will stop moving forward in life the moment you agree to strive with someone.

b. Focus is distracted where strife is established (Gen. 13:14).

Whenever you agree to strive with someone, your focus is taken away from where you are going in life. When you agree to strive, another person becomes your focus. Strife makes another person’s success your focus. Focus is distracted where strife is established.

c. The presence of strife equals the presence of hate.

The presence of strife is the presence of hate, and the presence of hate is the absence of God. So, any man that is in strife, hate, or competitive jealousy has eliminated God from his life. This is because God is love (1 John 4:, and love can never be where hate or strife is.

Beloved, deliver yourself from strife. Strife is a killer of joy, and joy is necessary for destiny.

Remember this: Focus is distracted where strife is established.
