Wow congrats to everyone that actually got PPR before medicals, I never thought that was possible... Anyways its all good and once again congratulations make una come join us for here ![]() |
Inestimable61:Nope, you cant get a PPR before medicals |
Onweke:Hello, I stand to be corrected but I don't think you can get a PPR before a medical request, you passing your medical examination is one of the prerequisites to getting approval, yes IRCC is so volatile but there are some things that cant just happen (at least to the best of my understanding and experience). |
nowhere:Please make sure you find out the authenticity of your statement; I am not really sure myself but I think the most you can do for this distance online learning is till April 2021, (please like I said i am not really sure) |
Please just a piece of friendly advice to all PPR expectant with January resumption date; please don't be discouraged, IRCC can still answer you within January, that being said please make sure you know about your school term deferment and fees refund regulations, the last thing that you want is to start your classes online and be denied, making a refund for your fees might be possible but a certain percentage will surely go, but deferment won't be possible again. |
oladapo2020:I am afraid you might only be able to get bed and bath apartments from 650 cad upwards, getting one below might be very rare and also might not be conducive or worse case it wouldn't come with utilities so even if your bed and bath is 600cad, you might still end up paying over a 100 dolls for utilities and another 40 cad for your monthly phone bills. your monthly bills can easily rack up |
NSE19:Prove of home ties is very dicey, in my case I literally had no home ties; i ain't married, no kids, no landed properties, i only had a job as an IT systems administrator in a fintech company, all my siblings and my mom are all Canadian citizens, so there was literally nothing to tie me to my home country, I just believe that your SOP should be convincing enough showing how you can use your course of study to positively impact your home country. Kindly wait to get other people's view on this Thanks |
Restoredglory:Hello, more often than none, you will be required to pay at least your first semester fees by the VO before you travel, but then again I think it's solely down to the VO'S discretion. |
deepwater:your last sentence, that's quite shallow. but then again knock yourself out. |
badmanjo:Yes, you can book weeks before starting our study permit application; this is called upfront medicals. (and I personally advise this. but doing an upfront medical doesn't in anyway increase your chances of getting approval over someone that didn't do his/her upfront medical, it just purely speeds up your application processing time). I am in Alberta province, Edmonton: accommodation can range from 370 cad to 650 cad for a room (definitely all utilities), also mild advice; try not to get a basement suite because some houses rarely heat their basement and trust me the cold is insane, so just be careful about basement apartments. |
Hello guys, apologies for going M.I.A settling down in Canada is something else, but we thank God So I am just gonna go straight to the point, just a piece of advice in two areas 1. Before your PPR (this stage is for people that are yet to get their positive feedback from IRCC) 2. Arriving in Canada (This stage is for people that have received their passport and already in Canada) I purposely left out the pre-travel stage because rules and regulations surrounding your pre-traveling can change without notice, when I was traveling I didn’t need to show a COVID test result but now I think Canada actually demands a negative test result from all travelers by air. 1. Before your PPR: This stage can be very grueling and might look long, but over my time listening to gurus here I can tell you that a. There is no method to this application, no two application is the same, just make sure you do your due diligence. b. If you haven’t done your medicals please I would advise that you go ahead and book for your medicals because appointment dates run thin very fast. (I am not against anybody wanting to wait for IRCC to tell them to go for their medicals but doing it upfront speeds things up) c. Order your GCMS notes: if your application has passed 2-3 months without you hearing from IRCC, I suggest you order your GCMS notes, that will give you some peace of mind because you know where you actually stand. 2. Arriving Canada: This stage is for people that are just arriving in Canada: a. Take your time to adjust: it took me almost a week for my body to adjust to the time, cos when it's just 2 pm in Canada it's like 10 pm in Nigeria and your body would be telling you to go to sleep, so you have to gradually fight it and try staying awake till the evening time or night time for your body to adjust b. The weather: the weather is nothing like what you have experienced, and honestly your mind and body might not fully prepare you for it. This stage is also gradual; get good snow boots and thick winter jackets, also if you can purchase an electric warmer blanket it would be a good move. Let kijiji be your go-to site for your purchases. c. opening of account: I strongly recommend CIBC smart for student account because it has no monthly fee, your interac transactions are free, you get access to SPC (Student Price Card) which is a student loyalty program that gives you discount on fashion, food and groceries, movies etc. (please note this is just my two cents as per my research and what i currently use) d. Accommodation: Make sure that your accommodation if it's off-campus, has all utilities included in your monthly rental fee because trust me the last thing that you want is to be keeping tabs on when your hydro, water, the internet should be renewed to avoid disconnection. Also about accommodation, please be careful about basement apartments make sure they have heaters, they might be cheap cos they rarely come with heating systems and trust me you wouldn't wanna be in a house that doesn't have a heating system in the basement. so please be careful about basement apartments Please feel free to ask questions and I would try my possible best to answer them. Thanks |
Anybody coming to Edmonton?? January? |
Kakokako:Awesome Congratulations, Please a quick question, what time are you mandated to fill the arriveCAN app? Also, what did you fill as your flight destination on the arriveCAN app? was it your POE (Toronto) or your final destination (Calgary, Sask, etc) |
Kakokako:Please kindly share your travel experience (airline, what the border officers both in Nigeria and Canada POE requested for), lastly, did you need to undergo any covid test |
I tracked my passport and got the following update: The decision envelope for your application, tracking ID No. XXXXXXX has been collected from the Canada Visa Application Centre, Abuja on 2020/12/16. Does this mean that my passport is now with DHL? Because I did a 2-way courier service with DHL and I tried tracking the return WAYBILL NO, on DHL's website but it's not showing the package has been received. Do I get in touch with DHL or Abuja VFS? |

letskeeptalking:Generally having an upfront medical fastens your application, however, an upfront medical isn't a guaranty for application approval, for me, I just took a step of faith and went ahead after 2-3 months of not hearing from them. |
MOKENN:Most airlines to my knowledge don’t ask for these stuffs, it’s the border officers here in Nigeria and the ones you will meet at Toronto that may disturb you for all these documents. I called KLM to confirm if a COVID test is required and they said no, but it’s mandatory to wear a face mask and change it every 3hours |
NairaLuck:After all your struggles finally, your passport is en route ![]() Mine says The decision envelope for your application, tracking ID No. XXXXXX has been collected from the Canada Visa Application Centre,Abuja on 2020/12/16, so hopefully I should get mine tomorrow as well, guess we are both on the same timeline, when are you planning on going? |
Cyndieee:08150199900 but they might have closed by now, they close at 4pm, please note that you have to try the number severally before it goes cos its always busy |
Babyboy2020:Permanent Residence Permit, It's the golden document just a few notches below Canadian citizenship status |
fratermathy:Thanks so much You remembered my departure date ![]() |
finally I just tracked my passport. The decision envelope for your application, tracking ID No. XXXXX has been collected from the Canada Visa Application Centre, Abuja on 2020/12/16.When should I be expecting my passport? I did a 2-way courier with DHL. |
olabisi6438:I dont think so, other gurus in the house would shed more light on this but please make sure you take your physical passport along, |
olabisi6438:UCI is an acronym for Unique Client Identifier, its mostly an 8 digit number or 10 digit number, It is used to identify all individuals applying or that have applied to Canada, be it visiting, study permit, PR, etc.. |
NairaLuck:@nairaluck, what's the latest with your passport? I have also gotten my LOI and counterfoil but after tracking my passport it still shows passport with tracking number XXXX is being processed at the Canada visa office. |
Mildred01:I submitted mine to Abuja VFS on December 4th with DHL (2-way courier service) you are to submit 2 duly filled and signed (page 2) copies of the vfs consent form, your passport submission request letter from IRCC, transmission fee (if you didn't do your biometrics at the vfs you are sending your passport to)... |
JustMellow:Yup, that's how I paid for my first-year tuition, its simple and straightforward, although you might need to submit your acceptance letter from the school, your certificates(photocopies), and also your BVN profile page. I made my payment in late august 2020 |
for people going with KLM, i checked their website and found out that covid test is not mandatory but it is mandatory to always wear a face mask and you have to change your face mask every 3 hours or if for any reason your face mask is wet you must change it. but if you go ahead and get a covid negative test result and show them, they will allow you enter without you necessarily wearing a face mask. |
olasubomy:Same with me my status has changed to approved, apparently my background check was completed the same day I submitted (Sept 7th) and I got LOI on the 15th of December now its remaining VFS and my passport ooo ![]() |
