Jenireva1: Hello everyone. I was offered admission to study nursing in Canada but as a second degree. Although, I have a first degree in microbiology. Have been scared of applying for my visa because I was told that I’ll be denied since am going for another bachelor’s degree program. Please how true is this? You shouldn't be scared, you just have to be able to convince the visa officer as to why you want to go for another degree... There isn't any law that states that you can't go for another degree, you just have to convince the visa officer. |

Amylove19: Hello all, please I need a candid advice from experienced people here. I've been an early years teacher for 7 years. I have a BSc in psychology. I want to do a diploma course in early childhood education but some people tell me a diploma is too low for me. That I might not be given visa. Please I need your help urgently so I'll know the way forward. You just have to show a strong correlation between your current employment and proposed course, I am currently in the same boat, I have my Bsc in computer science and i currently work as an IT Administrator and i am going for a diploma in electronics engineering at NAIT. Yes career progression is also a strong factor, but I clearly stated that because of the hands-on practicality of NAIT's curriculum i am opting for a diploma at NAIT... If you can get PGD that will be good as well... Honestly we can only hope for the best. |

letskeeptalking: Hi, I see you've still not gotten any response. Is it not possible for you to start your program online?
Have you considered doing an upfront medicals?
I applied 10th October . . I traveled to do my Biometrics last week and also did an Upfront medicals, becuase I dind't want to travel to Lagos twice.
I'm also resuming Winter 2021 but the school says we can study online till May 2021. Yes, I can study online, but my school sent a letter out mandating, that even though classes will be online, students must be at edmonton (NAIT) to pick up resources needed to study from home. and my resumption date is 6th of JAN. I have booked my appointment for the 20th of November (That was the available date I could find) I believe before 20th I would have gotten my medical request from Canada. |

But I still think it's a good sign. Most rejections are usually fast. Don't worry, God is in control! Thanks, man, I believe everything will work out... I pray for everyone that we will all get a favorable response soon. Letskeeptalking What's your timeline like? when did you apply |

Debbyiiii: Please what does it mean if Biometrics say completed Background check say we are processing your background check Biometrics completed It just shows that your biometrics has been updated successfully. Background check is done by processing applications where your education and experience credentials are from - this task verifies your claims and authenticity of documents. Security check is done by Canadian intelligence and security agencies, with or without cooperation of proper authorities in countries you lived/stayed in, and it is done completely independently from IRCC - IRCC only gets result, which will be positive or negative, without any explanation (as it is classified). This task looks deep into your life(LinkedIn Facebook), activities and associations to find out if you are/were involved or are/were associated in any way with anyone who is/was involved in espionage, terrorism, organized crime, radical movements, crimes against humanity, war crimes, etc.. Criminal check looks into your police certificates and verifies with relevant countries to see if you have a criminal record that may make you inadmissible to Canada. |

NairaLuck: Exercise patience we're in same shoes, you should be concerned if your DLI is in the list and you don't have any update. If your DLI isn't there then you have to be patient. Thanks, my DLI (NAIT- Northern Alberta Institute of Technology) has been on the list since the first covid readiness list came out |

kelvine95: Hi all, good morning.
Please if you applied for study permit between first week of October and now, lets connect and keep ourselves informed. I applied on the 4th of oct and did biometrics on the 19th which was uploaded same day, but my eligibility review has not started. I am really bothered about this and just want to know if I am alone in this or it is just the normal timeline being followed... Hello Kelvin, you will have to exercise patience, I applied on the 7th of sept and till now no response yet. Just be hopeful, are you starting winter 2021? |

JustMellow: Hello Adeenzo,
Have you received AIP?! I can see you applied before Sept 15. You should try to focus, as you're still within the PT. If you have gotten AIP, you many want to go do an upfront medical and maybe request for your GCMS notes. You may likely get a response before Dec.
All the best Hello justmellow, I am yet to get AIP but I have booked for my medicals for the 20th of nov. Hopefully before that date I would have received my med request and AIP |

fratermathy: I've said it before but to others and I will say it to you too: don't allow Canada to weigh you down. I understand how it must feel right now but you have to just be patient and persevere. Canada's visa process is meant to drain you because of the long wait you have to go through. This is one country that is not in a hurry to do anything. They take their time and they don't care how this affects applicants. The moment you apply for a Canadian visa, take it as a gamble for time, success, or rejection. You should also have a concrete plan B because like it or not, Canada is just one country where everything seems unpredictable.
Having said the above, I admonish you to relax and allow things work at their own time. Find things to do that will take your mind off the anxiety and worries. If your application has gone beyond the normal time, you should use the webform to make enquiries. If it is within the normal time, then be patient. People have waited for over 7 months for responses on this thread and they didn't die. Even in normal times, decisions can take as long as 4 months in some cases. You'll be fine. Thanks, Fratermathy, I will continue to be patient and try to get along with my normal activities, I keep my hope on God almighty.. If Canada comes good, if it doesn't it's all good.. at the end of the day let God's will be done. I have all my siblings and my mother as Canadian citizens, it's only myself and my father that is in Nigeria, I have no ties whatsoever in Nigeria, (I am not married and I have no kids), I only have a job as an IT Systems Administrator at a fintech company and I am going for a diploma in electronics engineering at NAIT for winter 2021 |

I'm in-between defering to May '21 or wait in FAITH for a positive result. No Updates yet Same here, yours is better, you did upfront medicals, I am still waiting for my med req, but nonetheless, I have booked at qlife on the 20th of Nov. and i believe with faith that I would have gotten my request before then. |

you guys please help me, I am losing my mind, I can't focus at work... does it take this long before Canada sends a medical request, I applied since the 7th of September, and till now no single contact, I have been following this thread and most people get their medical requests 30-32 days after application... My school just informed me that I have to be in Canada between 1-15 of December to do my 14 days quarantine, and here I am still in Nigeria, and to make matters worse you cant defer admission. This is really depressing, I really need an upliftment. |

naijaoyibo: Earlier this year my sister was denied a student permit. Reason being "Insufficient funds" even though funds declared pus properties were more than 100M Naira in total. We want to re-apply again. I have some Landed properties. How can I evaluate the value of these properties and add to this to the new application to confirm proof of sufficient funds? See ehn, there is no method to this shit.. the best I can advise, to my knowledge is either pay the fees or send the money to your sister's account. I personally, paid my first-year school fees and sent my 10kcad for my upkeep to my mother's account in Canada. But wait for other honorables in the house for their input |

Also it’s closing in to 2months since I submitted my application and no medical request, is this a good sign?? Day 53 of my application and still no contact from IRCC, God take the wheel and drive fast. It will end in praise. |

Please do not panic as your application is progressing and looked into by an immigration officer. Expect a good news soonest from IRCC.
