JustMellow: Hello Adeenzo,
True! It is possible but not always advisable.
All the best Yeah, but I just have to be hopeful, I could have kept my bsc but I have already mentioned in my previous canada visiting visa... So I decided not to keep it out. I have been to NAIT, and honestly its a frigging wonderful and awesome school. When you see physically whichever school you have applied to, you will be blown away. But with my bsc in computer science and my current work as an IT systems administrator (3 years) in a financial institution to your own knowledge and experience does this correlate with my intended course (electronics engineering)? |

Anon123: Have you received medical request or AIP? Not yet, but I am highly optimistic that I will receive my medical request and AIP soon, by God's grace... There isn't any methodology for this process, just do your due diligence and be hopeful. |

Dietminute: Hello everyone please i need suggestions on this!! I have a bsc in Geography and graduated 2017, have been working also, but i wish to apply for under gradaute diploma in an entirely different field ( sports management). What are my chances of getting visa approval because from what i have read here soo far it seams almost impossible to get visa approval for under graduate diplomas.. i'm 28years and single. Please i need suggestions... Thanks I don't think that is true, you can definitely get visa approval for an undergraduate diploma, I am also in the same shoes, I graduated with BSc in comp science, and I work as an IT systems administrator and I have applied for a diploma in electronics engineering in Northern Alberta Institute of Technology (NAIT) and I am currently awaiting my visa approval (by God's grace), that being said, you need to have a correlation between your studies or your current work, with the diploma you want to study. |

Oluomu: I just checked NAIT site now, the tuition fee is very expensive compare to other schools, i have done zoom meeting with some schools already but unfortunately non is on the list of COVID 19 list of schools that can bring in international students. Sadly yes NAIT is quite expensive but trust me even though its a polytechnic... its the next best thing in edmonton after university of edmonton. And its highly reputable, whichever school you choose make sure its a DLI and its a reputable school cos that too helps.. |

Oluomu: Hello Everyone,
I'm a graduate of polytechnic and I study mechanical engineering technology power option, I did my compulsory NYSC since I have been working in Automobile Industry in different capacity e.g. Technical Trainer, Auto Diagnostician, Fleet Main't Engineer and Fleet Mgr.
I intend going for Motive Power Technician Diesel Co-op in Fanshawe College or Motive Power Technician - Diesel Equipment and Truck in Algonquin College all Diploma/Certificate Program.
Please i would like to know if anyone in this forum has experience in the above listed school, Can I fund myself if yes what is the minimum account statement?
I would appreciate you all the gurus response to this inquiring
@Frankrobbn1 @JustMellow @naijaforeigner @Lekiboboe
and many others that can help out NAIT would have been a sweet school for what you wanna do.. but don’t worry about a thing, people here will give you handy advise on the schools you have chosen.. About funding, make sure you or your sponsor can prove your full first year tuition fees + 10k cad for your upkeep, you can pay your full first year fees to the school if possible before applying.. (please note, it’s not mandatory that you must pay your first year tuition before applying for your study permit.. |

Dee4Doyinsola: Hello, Please gurus I need your help, when I was applying for study permit, I was told police clearance is optional, so I didn't submit one. Please could that be the reason the embassy has been quiet? Please how safe is this for my application? If it is not safe, can I still add the police clearance to my application? I received AIP on August 6, medicals (passed), and biometrics (completed Sept 1) and I have not received any update since then. I was counseled on Monday to apply for GCMS notes which I submitted yesterday. Please what should I do? If they need a police clearance they will surely inform you, cos I too I didn’t submit any police clearance because I wasn’t asked to do so at the point of my application |

Dee4Doyinsola: I got AIP on August 6, started online classes on September 9. I just applied for GCMS note, ultimately I await a favorable final decision. Nice... I believe all will work out well. I heard that applications submitted before mid sept will be processed through the 2-step approach, since my application falls into that category (submitted before mid September) what do you think I should be expecting, AIP or medical request?? |

Hi Chocs and nairalanders
Please do you have any idea the typical time frame for canada to initiate communication with an applicant after successfully submitting his/her application... i submitted my application on the 7th of Sept and up till now no word from CIC is that odd or its the normal long timeframe? Ps... i have done my biometrics since because of my previous travel to canada, so no letter from them indicating i go for my biometrics please see the screenshot below to see the status of my application

Chocs: Hello ijeoma12345
Welcome to the thread.
I’ll give answers to some of your questions (questions 3,5 and 6)
3) you do not need flight tickets or accommodation bookings to apply for the visa. The medical exams are done at specific clinics, IOM or Qlife clinics. You can do an upfront exam (before your application, or after applying before they ask you to do an exam) OR you can apply and wait for IRCC to instruct you to go for the medical exam.
Police certificate is optional but I’ll advise you to do it, there’s nothing to lose.
5) there is no word limit for the SOP.
6) statement of account(4-6 months) is preferable to investments. The money should be readily available (liquid) Since he’s co-sponsoring, he should also include documents to show his source of income i.e employment/business (eg business registration documents since he works for himself) if he’s employed, he should include payslip and proof of employment (introduction letter, confirmation of appointment)
While you wait for others to respond, you can start reading the thread from page 1 (you can find the page numbers at the bottom of the page) so you can gain enough knowledge to help you put in a strong application.
Best wishes To answer your number 2 question, if you can pay for the full year please do, i did the same thing too, it gives a better leverage. 3. you dont need to schedule flight tickets, there is no flight ticket that has a coverage of two years. you cant book Jan 2021 to return jan 2023.. med report and police report can also be done upfront like chocs said.. or you can wait for the canada to tell you to go for medicals.. 4. Honestly the time frame is quite short you have give or take 3 months (12 weeks)... to Jan 2021 |

dommakavelli: Focus on your job. And make sure you get your mom to sign an affidavit of sponsorship on your behalf. In addition to whatever you have in the affidavit, she should include the following.
That your purpose of applying for study Visa is solely for studying (program name) in Canada. That on no occasion would you (your name) depend on the government of Canada and social safety net (Welfare prgrams) That you (your name) will abide by the all the laws of Canada and all immigration laws and regulations. You can tell her to go to a registered immigration lawer to sign it. They know what to write. It's like 30 bucks or so. Having family in Canada is not a bad thing. I did same for my sibling and it worked. Other docs were included obviously.
Also, make sure to include your mom's citizenship certificate or passport page. You should also include your sister/brother inlaw's passport pages too, if they are sponsoring you. If they are not sponsoring you, it won't hurt to have a co sponsor if they are willing to give you their docs. Also, talk about how the good things your family said influenced your decision to come study in Canada in your SOP.
If you have income, include your statement and talk about economic ties in your SOP. If you don't have a job, make sure you justify how your study in Canada would give you a job in Nigeria and future plans. I'm not sure why you need a guardian cos you're an adult but anyways. You should also get your brother inlaw to sign an affidavit too since he would be your guardian. If he's not your guardian, he can still sign an affidavit to vouch for you. Kill them with affidavit to show that you will return upon completion of your studies.
I don't think you need a letter from your other sister unless she's sponsoring you. Is she an adult. If so, you can get an affidavit to speak to your character that you are law abiding, but I don't think it's necessary.
Goodluck Wow, dommakavelli, Thanks so much, I have done all these as well... The guardianship letter is just for reaffirmation and at least I will be accountable to someone, do you get?, I just tried to get as much letters as I could get to support my application, yes both of my sisters are adults, and married with kids. |

dommakavelli: If you're 27 and your mom has been living in Canada for about 10 years. How come she didn't sponsor you when you were a minor? Sigh... thats one huge mistake that still haunts us, she got her PR in 2011 and became a citizen in 2016, both of my siblings are were born there as well... she basically comes to nigeria and goes back to canada but she isn't based in canada tho. Honestly speaking i think lack of knowledge of all these stuffs attributed too.. |
