Thank You adeenzo
So a medical getting approved doesn’t even mean that the study permit will be approved? Do they approve every applicant's Medicals
Nope, a medical exam getting approved(PASSED) doesn't necessarily mean that your study permit has been approved.

Since October 8th no response or update, was hopeful when I saw the Ghost update sef. One cant sleep nor eat well, let then just give us update soon..

It will surely end in praise!
Hello Otunba, It is good to keep the faith alive, but know that this Canada thing na serious patience, very serious one, I would advise you to take time out and not solely get hung up by Canada, they will reply in due time. Please try to eat and sleep ooo, problem no dey finish.

Okay thanks!
I asked earlier if your medicals have been approved since you said you did an upfront medicals when you couldn’t get a medical request! And is Qlife the only hospital in Lagos that I can get a medical done
Yes, It has been approved, Med exam takes from 3-10 days to get approved, Qlife and IOM are the only hospitals designated by Canada to run the med exam.

Good morning
I was chatting with a friend that we both applied for Canada and she told me her agent told her that a medical will be requested for 2 weeks after our biometrics.
How real is it please?
I was thinking of doing an upfront medical or wait since the 2 weeks will be completed by tomorrow since I did my biometrics on the 5th of November!
Lol, I applied on Sept 7th and till now I haven't gotten a medical request, I had to just go ahead and do an upfront medical exam. if you can do your medical request upfront do it because available medical appointment dates are running thin. That 2 weeks time frame isn't so feasibly, no time frame with Canada is definite now.

BVL dropped 3.37am!

July Applicant. Received AIP Sept 8th. No update afterwards. Followed @ Lekibobos hint to go ahead to do an upfront medical after waiting for an update for about 2 months after AIP. Did upfront medicals on 5th November. Profile updated with medical passed on 12th November. BVL today.

No address on AIP or BVL but I also followed some suggestions here and sent a webform once to Beijing and Nairobi to enquire about the status of my application (about 2 weeks ago).
It was a good decision that you did upfront medicals, imagine if you were still waiting grin grin
Congrats!!!

Please I would like to know the type of medical tests carried out during the Canada medical exams i.e whether Tuberculosis, HIV, etc.. my Health insurance agency asked me to find out the tests required so they can know whether my office health insurance can cover it or not.
Please help me out, it's quite urgent.
Thanks in advance

Dameelee:
Please what is this ghost update people talk about?
Well, When you login, if your application says it's been "updated" but none of the fields have changed. Once you logout and log back in, the application returns to being "submitted". Ghost updates are not announced by email and a candidate must check their profile daily to not miss them.
TravelRe: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 17 by adeenzo(m): 8:43am On Nov 16, 2020
fratermathy:
Well, with the unpredictability of IRCC these days, no one can tell what new methods they've devised. Normally, ghost updates do not prevent the application page from loading. To confirm server downtime, if you allow the application page to continue loading, it'll show you a 502 error page.
Sigh, IRCC is just using us to catch cruise grin grin...
It is well
TravelRe: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 17 by adeenzo(m): 8:31am On Nov 16, 2020
fratermathy:
It's not a ghost update. It's a backend server downtime. Whenever there's a downtime, you won't be able to view the application page and when you refresh the status page, you'll see a message that your application status has changed. Once the server comes back up, the message will be cleared.

A ghost update is when you see a message that your application status has changed and you are actually able to view the application page. Ghost updates are seldom general. It'll happen to just your account.

My bet is that almost everyone cannot access their accounts at this current moment and they'll get that message too.
Some people can access their account, called a friend of mine to check his portal, he said he could log in and he didn't get the application update. if it was a server downtime, I am sure the situation would be general. my two cents tho, but then again, you can be correct.

This is probably the 5000th time I will be reading my SOP and checking all my documents and it’s only 10 days I did my biometrics... Mehn I am anxious.

It will end in praises.

And ain’t these getting late, my school will resume in January and I haven’t even gotten a medical request, PPR Et al and I keep seeing October applicants saying they haven’t even started reviewing there eligibility.
Any idea or opinion
When did you submit your application? See ehh, don’t let Canada give you headache, because this VOs like to take their time to do their job, don’t think they will rush anything because you are a January applicant, you just need to exercise patience, and take your mind off checking your portal every 30 seconds (trust me I learnt this stuff the hard way)
It will end in praise

Hey guys, i recently applied for my study permit on the 29th october for jan 18 2021, i know really late, at this point i am just praying cry, i have done my biometrics and it was uploaded sucessfully, is it wise to do the medicals now, or should i wait for a letter from ircc to undergo the medical exam?, please i need your guidance!
Book your medicals now, appointment dates are running out. The earlier you book the better. I too I am yet to get my medical request (submitted sept 7th) but I have gone ahead to book for my medicals (Qlife on the 20th of November), because waiting for Canada might take a while.

Okay bro, thanks!
I am anxious because I will be resuming on the 6th of January and I only just did biometrics a week ago, hops I will be able to meet up with the resumption date if everything goes well!?
Nairaluck has really said the truth here, you just have to be patient, I myself I am over 60 days into my application and I am still waiting for med request, applications are treated at different paces. Just be hopeful, and more importantly, occupy yourself with something cos Canada would test your patience, I learnt that shit the hard way. Just take your mind off it, check in sometimes but just don't be too hung on it. Chocs and Nairaluck really helped me figure that out.

just a little advise to new applicants from October and maybe late September

Kindly exercise long patience
The PPRs you witnessed this week and last 2weeks were applications from March to August and some August and September are yet to receive an update.

It's good to anticipate but with Canada, the only way to avoid slipping into depression is taking your mind off your application going about your normal duties, engage yourselves and redirect your mind else where. The green light to most successful applications is MEDICAL REQUEST.
Even when you receive such, sometimes they still delay a lil bit before final approval, nor Let IRCC rush your application go give you NEGATIVE.

Patience is the key, Standard processing time is now 15weeks so put your mind to rest.
You may only start sending emails to the different offices on your status after the standard processing time. Again, Nor Let IRCC rush your application go give you NEGATIVE.

Constant checking won't in anyway influence the decision, once submitted, the others is between GOD, the VO and the DOCs you provided, and SOP,
however KEEP HOPE ALIVE

We will all get there
IT IS STILL OUR MONTH OF PRAISE

Another set of BVL and PPR will rain from 15th to 18th
Nairaluck thanks for this.. I really needed this, I appreciate this. God bless you.
I will continue to remain hopeful

Hello adeenzo,

Have you ordered your gcms notes? I see you worrying on here daily, it’s not healthy. Order your notes so you can get small peace of mind.

All the best
Thanks, Chocs, Being in the dark about the application is just insane. My siblings who are Canadian citizens are advising me to wait it out, that whether I order it or not, I would still have to wait, but I get your point, I would go ahead and order it. But is this norma?, for over 60 days no medical req no nothing, should I just brace myself for a refusal at this rate?? Just only a few ghost updates, eligibility, and background check under processing for over 2 months.

I have done everything possible and he said is a public portal he uses for every other person and cannot release it
This is a big fat lie, geez get your details from him ASAP, which rubbish public portal.... everyone has his or her own dedicated portal, and can only be accessed with only GCKEY credentials, and as for the screenshot you posted, there is a possibility that it's fake because never have I seen someone that hasn't done medicals (whether upfront or regular) and the person was given PPR... Haba, Please go and meet the agent and tackle him, I just hope you can get your details recovered

Please order for your gcms note, so that you can know where you stand at the moment.
Honestly, It was before that I was anxious, right now, I can't be bothered, I have left everything into God's hands, if I order my GCMS notes, it will still take another 30-45 days of patience, instead, I will wait until I receive my med request by God's grace.
Or would raising a webform be adequate in this kind of situation?

Day 65 of my application and still no contact from IRCC. Please any advice from the house is highly welcomed. It will end in praise

Bro or sis, I encourage you to please change your program choice. I also did the same mistake and nobody told me it was a post-secondary program, I was outrightly denied. I suggest you look for a course related to your present work experience or B.Sc course. All the best
I am in this same boat... I applied for a diploma at electronics engineering at NAIT... And I have a bsc in computer science with 3 years work experience as an IT systems Administrator in a Fintech company... I am at 64days into my application and no med request yet.
All I can do is to be hopeful as I also made a strong SOP..

I am optimistic, the wait is very real sad sad

Hello Adeenzo,

Your undoing may be the Diploma and not necessarily your ties to Canada. If you were able to give a clear study intent and also able to demonstrate a good economic tie to your workplace, you may stand a chance.

Someone here have his family in the US & Canada only the exception of him in Nigeria. In fact, was sponsored by his brother in the US and got an approval.

All the best
Thanks Justmellow, I was able to make a good reference as to how the diploma would help me “As having a solid foundational understanding and also the hands on practicality experience I would be exposed to at NAIT, coupled with my laid down work experience here in Nigeria the knowledge, and skills and I have gain from NAIT I Would be an asset to top IT organizations in my Home country (this is a paraphrased except from my SOP tho)

Nice profile, having a valid visit visa which you stuck to the terms and returned when due is an advantage.
However, other factors include POF Documentation and WELL PATTERNED AND COMPREHENSIVE SOP, even though they have a valid status still work on ties to home country

There's a guide to a good SOP about 3 or 4 pages back.
All the best.
Thanks nairaluck... I actually drafted a good SOP but I made a one typo blunder and it still haunts me, instead of the sentence “Their curriculum” I wrote “a their curriculum” bro when I found out I almost shit my pants lol..
but as for my tuition, I have paid the first year tuition fully, my LE has been in my mother’s royal bank of Canada account.. and my sister’s husband (Who is a native Canadian) wrote a letter of guardianship on my behalf... I don’t have a single tie to Nigeria... lol
It will end in praise for us all

Hello, before the gurus come, from wat I know, having a sibling in Canada ( both PR/Citizen) doesn't in anyway influence your visa outcome. In most cases, having a sibling somehow raises suspicion on your true intent, whether study or immigration. You may get refusal based on time to Canada and maybe compelled to remain in Canada due to its incentives.
Having a sibling who's a PR/Citizen only adds points in EE.
On your refusals, kindly order for GCMS note to know exactly what you need to tackle, and know that the difficulty level of getting a SP in 2014 and now isn't the same.
So double up and present your application well.

Lastly, kindly read through this thread to get all the hacks you may need.
Hello Nairaluck, thanks for the enlightenment, mine is somewhat similar, all my elder siblings (3) where born in Canada (automatically they are citizens) and my mom too is a citizen of Canada, only myself and my dad are Nigerians.
I have previously been to Canada and I didn’t overstay. Do you think this can sway the VO into thinking my traveling down isn’t genuine as my family ties to Nigeria is bleak. I am not married and have no kids, I currently do work as an IT systems administrator in a fintech company (past 3 years) and I am going for a diploma in electronics engineering at Northern Alberta Institute of technology (NAIT)...
Applied on the 7th of September and still yet to get any feedback from IRCC,
Any advise for me would be awesome. Thanks
