I was taught to be domestically inclined when I left CU and it appeared to my mum that I had the potential of becoming very useless.
I spent a year at Unilag where I learnt how to cook. I later became the boss of the kitchen anytime I'm home. Was used to washing and cleaning right from my boarding school days.. |

You know what? This is unfair. Really it is.
But then it's not the right way to go about it. I could pass this message to the PSN president or the PCN registrar and this might lead to PCN withholding your accreditation IMO. They're come down to your campus and if the situation is that bad, they have the power to close the faculty.
My advice is this. Take this cry or message to the VC of your school and all the high ranking officers through your PANS president. Explain the state of things and the recompense. First you need a Prof as dean, and really I don't understand the qualification exams you talked about. |

I've heard numerous stories about this akudaya but i will share 1 that really shocked me.
A young man who happened to be the only son of his parents died miserably. Though i wasn't told where he died or how he died. He was the heir to the fathers wealth as the only son.
The man was said to have established a business booming with lots of customers in lagos(why always lagos?).... He also got married but not legally to a pretty young lady there and they had kids...
When the young man sensed his time of existence as partial human was coming to an end, he talked to his wife about seeing his parents (i still ask myself, why now?). The wife agreed. They were few distant away from home before the man came up with excuse.... He told his wife he needed to get some items from the market. He gave the wife direction on how she'd be able to locate their main house. The wife with the kids kept going. On reaching the house, the mother of the man saw them and asked if they were looking for some one. The lady described whom they were looking for and coincidentally, she was speaking to the mother in-law.... The lady told her that she's the wife of her son... The old woman, amazed by what she heard couldn't believe it.... She took the lady to the place where the man was buried and told her that he died a long time ago.... The lady was skeptical and decided to call her husband on phone but it wasn't through.... That was how the man disappeared into thin air till today.
The question i still ask myself is - Are the kids half man-half spirit? I heard this same story! |

Mbediogu: Pharmacy is alll about drugs ..agreed. Medicine is about drugs and DISEASES, among others. Or is ther any pharm course known as patho-pharmacy? All the experiments you do in pharmacology are based on response of HEALTHY tissues. Medicine and therapeutics are based on responses of diseased tissues to drugs (or medicine, which is the true name of profession of medical doctors). This is not to belittle the pharmacy profession which is an important basis of all mediacal practices whether orthodox or traditional. Pharmacists concentrating in their core area can revolutionize the art of healing, but that cannot be achieved thro interaction with patients because they are not trained in clerkship, history taking, systemic exams, and lab investigations and interpretation. A doctor is also a mini -pharmacist, -nurse, -labman, all rolled into one. Let us stop inhouse fighting within our sacred joint humanitarian profession. As an old doctor, father of a 3rd MBBS student, and in-law to a pharmacist, I feel sad about the goings on in health sector. You see sir, I was going to wash this post before I read your last statement. An old doctor who wrote this fallacious post about Pharmacy? It's sad you don't know pharmacists do lab investigations and interpretations. It's sad you don't know pharmacists are trained in clerkship(final year in my school). And then I thought, you're a Nigerian. What can you know? But as a 3rd year pharmacy student, I can feel your sadness about what's going on in our health sector! |

You are talking about nursing with the knowledge of Health Care workers. When you say Doctors what Doctor? U failed to use the term Medical Doctor I worked in the NHS England for 5 good years 2002-2007 as a medical staffing officer ,so I can tell you with Authority that your arguments are flawed Consultant is anybody you go and meet for Consultancy, so do the Maths If you have to meet me for advice in any field for consultancy then I would be a consultant. We even have consultants who are architects, we have consultant clinicians, Consultant pharmacist, Consultant Psychotherapists, Human resources Consultants, Consultant gynocologist. the list goes on so what's the Big deal This is simple victory for common sense. Health › Re: World Diabetes Day : 10 Ways To Avoid Diabetes Complications by adeoladrg(m): 10:11am On Nov 14, 2014 |
Today celebrates World Diabetes Day, a day of global awareness of the disease held annually. The theme for 2014 is Healthy Living and Diabetes – specifically focusing on how blood sugar levels can be controlled by eating a good breakfast. It was set up in response to the rise of diabetes around the world, on the day marking the birthday of Frederick Banting, who along with Charles Best, first conceived the idea which led to the discovery of insulin in 1922. Introduced in 1991 by the International Diabetes Federation and the World Health Organisation, the day is now an official United Nations day. Last year, the international charity JDRF launched the Twitter campaign #TypeOnsie to raise awareness of type 1 diabetes. What is diabetes? Diabetes is a lifelong condition that causes a person's blood sugar level to become too high. Although diabetes is a group of metabolic diseases, there are two main types – type 1 and type 2. High blood sugar causes frequent urination, thirst and hunger. Untreated, it can cause severe complications such as heart disease, stroke, kidney failure and damage to the eyes. It is caused by either the pancreas not producing enough insulin, or the cells of the body not responding properly to the insulin provided. Insulin, a hormone created in the pancreas, helps the body use glucose for energy. How many people are affected? In 2010, there was an estimated 3.1 million people aged 16 or over with diabetes in the United Kingdom, both diagnosed and undiagnosed. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's National Diabetes Statistics Report in 2014, 29.1 million people or 9.3 percent of the US population had the condition. Globally, as of 2013, there are an estimated 382 million people with diabetes worldwide, with type 2 diabetes making up about 90 percent of the cases. What is the difference between the two types of diabetes? In type 1 diabetes, the body's immune system attacks and destroys the cells that produce insulin. This leads glucose levels to increase, damaging the body's organs. It is known as insulin- dependent diabetes and often develops before the age of 40. Type 2 diabetes is where the body fails to produce enough insulin, or the body's cells do not react to insulin. Often associated with obesity, it is a progressive condition and is normally treated using tablets. Can lifestyle changes affect diabetes? Being active and eating a balanced diet of fruit, vegetables, starchy foods, non-dairy sources of protein and dairy can be beneficial to controlling and preventing both type 1 and type 2 diabetes. According to Diabetes UK, however, the same eating pattern is recommended for everyone – trying to eat foods low in salt, fat and sugar. Lifestyle changes are often advised for those with a high risk of diabetes and who have been recently diagnosed with type 2. Recommendations include taking two-and-a-half hours each week of moderate physical activity, while losing weight to achieve a healthy body mass index. |

[quote author=Adebee2014 post=28001433]Good, We will now have consultant pharmacist, and consultant pharmacy technician, consultant CHEW, consultant nurse assistant and endless list. Has anybody thought about definition of consultancy?. What is d implications in a confused populace where even the carpenter who works in the hospital is called a doctor!. How many of u will take your child to consultant nurse for surgery, it will noe begin to happen because our mothers in the village who understands little will be confused!. A consultant is a final advisor or authority! Then will have many final authorities in management of same patients. The consultant doctor gives orders to the nurse to use honey to treat his patient but consultant nurse is oga too, so she says no, and tells junior nurse to use eusol!, who suffers? The patient.
This is so wrong! The doctor still has the final authority. Just like it is in the other climes.
The doctor prescribes a drug for the patient he has been managing for years, and the pharmacist only dispense, but know they will want to change the drugs because they are now final authority in pharmacy without even knowing the details about the patient!!!!!! Who suffers?
You're such an ignoramus! Pharmacists don't change drugs, they have expanded roles now and are not limited to dispensing.. Pharm techs can dispense..
When you put stupid people in gov. You get stupid circulars, and NIGERIANS suffer. Why consultants now? It is because of the specialist allowance not because they know better than the doctor. While it takes the doctor 4-6 six extra years to become specialist, these allied health worker want to call themselves specialist after 6 months CME.
It took Olumide Akintayo 6 years to become a consultant pharmacist. Use Google, its everywhere.
Abroad, there are no consultant nurses or pharmacist in the HOSPITALS, they only work in elderly homes where there are no permanent doctors. So they call them consultants when pharmacist are called to monitor drugs
People who haven't left the shores of their villages are quick to predict what happens in the west. Thanks to social media. |
