do you have any idea if the art package on hotbird is available on the 2.4m dish in lagos. also can you just try and go through the channels that you feel will be available with the 2.4m dish that is not motorized.
also is there any package openable by echolink thats show the premiership, la liga and the italian league. what's on intelsat 707? For signal that are receivable on hotbird which echolink receiver provide spt for are aljazeera sp+ on freq 10723H-27500sr,TPS on 10758v -27500sr and about three other packages that i can't remember for now |

@olofofo, i can see u are ON and OFF on the net. i used SUPERMAS c-band with dilelectric,STRONG C-BAND for non dilelectric and a DIGISAT OF 0.2db.Dish type is the common strong dishof 1.8m.But the new 1.8m STRONGER DISH is more better than any OTHER 1.8m dish but note to use the UPPER hole to ur scaller on the focal length for maximum signal achievement. And for the Digisat KU, the cutting on its base depend on ur own experiences. |

Refs my last post, the setup is 1.8m dish motorize with 2 c-band and 1-ku (out of which one of the c-band has a dielectric ( mercury glass) and the other is free which is used for Thaicomsat c-band,PAS 10 C-BAND, Paksat and metrosat; the receiver is SRT 4653X. Someone saw the dish setup and is specifically interested in polsat and digisat channels that show PORNOGRAPHY of which the 1.8m dish can give some of the transponder but not all the transponder like u know there are many PORNS TRANPONDER ON HOTBIRD,Like a channel on hotbird name BLUE GATE they show porn FTA, this channel on 1.8m dish is only viewable a little(cracking) fm by 1 am-5am but with correct parabolic focus 2.4m dish u can be sure of signal increase fm 44% on 1.8m- 54% on 2.4m here in Lagos,so is sending me to buy him the 2.4m dish MOTORISE SET-UP,which i will be leaving very soon for. badaru1: Adewes This your post has k leg inside o,the reason why I doubt your post is that, you can't get pas10 c and Itv on the same c-band Lnb,one need dielect the other one doesnt. It is not possible to get nile on motorise in place like lagos, you know I know even in far north where the signal is high,on motorise you have to reduce some satellites to allow others to move. If you tell me that you got them independent of others them I may agree. So always tell people the exact of what you got. This is not a show man forum,it is mature minds forum. My brother please don't doubt it,i have not come on this forum to say i sabi but to share ideas with ideas on sat related problems @ Badaru,With God nothing is imposible.I will still be around tmr in Lagos am currently at ikeja mil barrack just check me by 8.00 pm give me a call on my 070, and ur doubt predicament will be over. olofofo: @all
this adewest fellow might be one sat tracking guru or might jut be another "NUT CASE", what i find really odd is the fact that he needs to go back to bauchi to go and get 2.4m dish to use in lagos, i find that really really hard to understand.
Also, how come he disappears after his post, especially when important questions are coming up. I really do not know what to make of this guy yet. Friends am always mobile with my laptop and my internet provider is via MULTILINKS NOKIA PHONE,so my connection tariff is always fm 6.00pm-11.00pm on daily basis, pls note. |

@ all paksat signal is receiver on 1.8m dish, txn mode is both dielectric and non diel but signal is most stronger on non dielectric and on horizontal mode, if still having problems try strong C-band.
@ all good news to all gama users, update file is running now on showtime/art,premier and digi tv. To those trying to track digi sat 3m dish is most suitable for state like Bauchi, jos,kad and Niger while 2.4m can sometime do the magic at place like Ilorin.
on eutelsat3, offsetting your dish setting on the LNB freq will just result in offsetting some the existing channel on the bird.
To whom it might concern i base in the BAUCHI |

maddoxoj: On the Nigcomsat-1 issue, let me just say that I predicted it at the start that it was going to be a massive failure. However, what just happened to the bird was far from my mind when I made that “unpatriotic’ prediction. I don’t know if the Nigerian government asked questions before going into that venture. The satellite business is a closed market at the up-stream level (owning satellites and transponders). To get a communication satellite in orbit you need to build it at no less than $250 million, next you have to get a rocket to attach it to for propelling into space at another tidy sum, then you have to get them on a launch vehicle either on land or sea. All of these are in the range of tens of millions $ to get done. Being such a capital intensive venture it, therefore, forces the manufacturers and some major clients to pool resources to get the birds up and running.
Satellite client companies like Globecast, Canalsat, RRS, etc. are nominally service providers and, theoretically speaking, do not own the satellites but you find out that they have invested a lot of money in the manufacture and deployment of satellites owned by fleet operators like Intelsat, Eutelsat, New Sky Satellite (NSS), etc. Sometimes, they could inject up to half of the cost of a satellite prior to its launch and their investment is converted to ownership of a given number of transponders on the same bird (or even future birds in some instances). These companies have been in business for decades and pretty much cover every inch of ground on the planet. So, whatever your satellite need may be anywhere in the world they can handle it with ease. This scenario has made it quite impossible for any new sat owners to break into that level of the market because the big boys can offer you anything cheaper than any newcomer can attempt and most of the contracts are quite long-term. Governments normally launch military or other special purpose satellites, with the exception of India (with their Insat fleet), Pakistan (Paksat fleet) and one or two other countries that have built Communication satellites for little or no profit.
Nigcomsat was meant as a commercial (for profit) satellite which means it has to compete with this cartel that run Clarke’s belt like their private backyard. Even NTA bulked at the price Nigcomsat put on their TPs. That’s why NTA is still on Intelsat and had no plans of moving to Nigcomsat in a hurry. Every other prospective client either had a better long-term commitment elsewhere or could get the same services much cheaper elsewhere. With due diligence and consideration, Nigcomsat should never have been ventured into by the Nigerian government. Instead, they should have shared the money to Nairlanders to get larger compounds, bigger dishes and better quality receivers, LNBs, etc. to track and crack as many birds as they like.
Now, as to what happened to the bird. Launching a satellite is a very tricky business. Accidents can happen during manufacture, handling, transportation, launch and manoeuvring into orbit. Some may be noticed on time and others may be noticed too late. If the rocket has not blasted the bird into space already, repairs or damage control can be done if not, to God be the glory. Apparently, Nigcomsat’s problem is from the fuel section. To remain in geosynchronous (stationary) orbit the satellite makes use of a positioner which is run by electricity. Also the TPs (transponders) are powered by electricity in order to function properly. The electricity on satellites is usually provided by two sources: Solar power and Electric generators (yes, like that one you use when NEPA are on duty).
***NOTE*** A few satellites run exclusively on generators.
The generators are provided with enough fuel to last for 5 to 15 years (that’s how the lifespan of a satellite is calculated) depending on their intended use. During sunlight the bird is powered by solar, leaving the generator running on low power after sunlight the generator goes full-on. If anything goes wrong with the solar power section the satellite would still be ok because it would run now only on the generator but the fuel would run out quicker and that translates to a shorter life-span for the satellite. However, if anything happens to the generator, yawa don gas be that!! Every electronic component of the satellite would shut down: TPs would go off and the satellite would lose orbital integrity and stray (i.e. the satellite would depart from its assigned orbit) because the positioner would have failed also. The problem can come from anywhere, could be big or small. Ordinary carburettor or fuel pump failure can mean the end of a $300million project. This is not far from what happened to OBJbird (the baptismal name for Nigcomsat-1).
Has this type of thing happened before? Yes!!!!!!! So many times, just that many of us may not notice. That was what killed the last Insat (Indian satellite) and one other Intelsat (I think Intelsat-14 or so). Nigcomsat-1 was even lucky to have breathed for 18 months because these other birds fell back to earth like stones almost as soon as they were launched. Many Chinese and “Neo-Industrialised” countries’ made satellites are doing quite fine. However, knowing Naija people and the Chinks, anything is possible. They could have cut a few corners which has landed us here. Anyway, we are looking for volunteers to join us on a Chinese made spacecraft to go and look for our lost OBJbird. If you’re interested please contact me. We would be carrying spare parts to repair the missing satellite as well as the spacecraft (in case it develops it own fault there), me I want to return alive. Men me i volunteer o, at least to witness the zero gravity in space and most of all top of the world . Ensure to keep enough kulikuli, gari and kunu zaki to cool the manoeuvrings rescue mission. |
