You shouldn't have mentioned personal savings even if you have $50k in your account. Supposedly you have gotten a GTA that covers your tuition now, na different matter entirely. Pls don't give up, defer the admission and when next you go, mention a strong sponsor other than YOURSELF.
Sire, I disagree; personal savings is not a weakness; a strong sponsor is fine too tho. Good personal statement plus sponsor is not a red flag. What about people that have dependents, some even seek F2 visas for them. Interviews are just too subjective that's all. And the school might be really expensive with no form of funded aid to supplement

The rate USA embassy denies visa is alarming compared to other countries.
Your interview is upcoming, pay less attention to negative news, it seeps to the subconscious mind and it's quite harmful to your esteem and morale; focus on the good ones. My advice to you

Ooh okay thanks ...Buh honestly, I really don’t see how that’s gonna be feasible consedring the amount of people that applies for visa daily. Best of luck to future applicants
Its not everyone that makes it verification stage now, they deny loads of people and the ones they intend to give visas, they verify the soa except you have some large amount of funding that covers your study and living expenses. They'll have already approved your visa before they go on and verify...so its really not much and with the money they make from people's visa fees they shouldn't complain!

Good morning all. Hope the weekend is going well. Please i need advice on possibly questions or what to expect as am going for my second interview. Bsc, most transcript are msc, what questions do i expect as am going for BSC program. Thanks all,i appreciate all responds.
It's going to be almost the same questions as MSC or PhD, why the course, what it'll do for you? Why not Nigeria? Can you afford it(with an SOA) that shows you can... Post your first interview transcript let's see what went wrong the first time

Guys should you cram for the interview or you should just know your points and let it flow freely? I feel like if I don't cram it and memorize my answers, I might get too tensed and just won't know how to bring my words together. It's less than two weeks to my interview and I really don't know the better one to do
It solely depends on you, have you attended interviews in the past? How did you fare? If you build your interview responses by cramming around an anticipated route, its going to be an arduous task to gather your composure if you ever get derailed with an unanticipated question. Interview yourself everyday, let it flow freely your points might not always be in the exact words you want them expressed every time but it should always express the idea behind it. Don't be rigid. Let me quote the VO education USA invited for their seminar.
VO; "don't get nervous, most students are denied because they look nervous like they crammed the whole thing in their head. Be yourself and lets have a chit chat.
Talk to us like you talking to a friend, don't get nervous because it's not gonna do you any good. We are humans like you.
Learn about your school, your course of study, where you gonna stay, your city. Talk like a genuine student. Studying in the U.S. is not easy, so you have to prove to us that you deserve it."
But if cramming but if its your forte and you've mastered the art, then cheers in advance!

He/she could write standardized tests to boost his profile. Its a proven fact that admission decisions and funding goes beyond undergraduate transcripts alone. A good statement of purpose(Sop), Letters of recommendation(lor) and tests scores could do the magic. For schools, read through the thread you should be able to list a few.

All the best

Why did you think you were denied? If the reason is something you feel is negligible when you're reinterviewed then you can, you're not applying for the first time. You were previously denied.

You can post your previous transcript and proposed transcripts and let the experienced help you.

Kind regards

Hello house, please I need your advice on this. The school I applied to for Spring 2019 said I should defer admission to Fall 2019,

My Question: Should I defer or Is there enough time to book an appointment at the US Embassy

This is what the academic evaluator said:
Deferring to fall would be very convenient for you, you can book your visa date early and prepare well. For now, it has been alleged that consular do not appreciate it when your interview date is too close to your resumption date and even if you get an expedited appointment at this stage it'll still be very close to spring start date. Its still your decision to make and I'll stick with what the academic evaluator advised you. Like every successful applicant say "preparation is key"

Hey guys, what are the documents I'll need to take to the embassy for my interview?
1. Appointment letter
2. Nonimmigrant Visa - Confirmation Page (DS-160)
3. Visa fee receipt (GTB)
4. Original I-20
5. SEVIS I-901 payment confirmation
6. International passport
7. Birth certificate
8. (1) 2X2 passport
9. Diploma or degree Cert.
10. Standardized test scores (if applicable)
11. Admission letter.

People at the gate will hassle you to patronize them for one thing or another, I'd advise you not to...if you have all this just walk confidently into the embassy don't let them plant any fear inside of you. Don't go with your phones, drop them at the hotel or someplace. They'll charge you heavily to keep it with them and since you won't be spending all day at the embassy; you can do without your phone.

Goodluck!

my mother will take care of the kids in my absence and she just recently retired. but will they allow me go into the interview with my kids?
Dependents Remaining at home -
If your spouse and children are remaining behind in your country, be prepared to address how they will support themselves in your absence. If the consular officer gains the impression that your family will need you to remit money from the U.S in order to support them, your student visa application will almost certainly be denied. If your family does decide to join you at a later time, it is helpful to have them apply at the same post where you applied for your visa.

This is one of the points my school sent to me in preparation for nonimmigrant Visa.

With warm regards

Thank you for the response sir...am still contemplating on waiting but because of the time, I won't want a situation I won't be able to go in January .. Will you advice I go to the embassy with the less preferred school i20 den change when I get to the use... The oda i20 should arrive in 2weeks
2 weeks is a long time, here are the options i THINK you have
1. In your mind make the less preferred school your most preferred school, come up with reasonable and convincing reasons you chose the course and school in your proposed transcript, go get your visa and you can then change to your most preferred school.

2. Request your school send you a soft copy if your I20; there you have your sevis code and pay your sevis fee with the code, wait for the I20, book a regular visa date and expedite!

I wish you luck

You are doing a great job, 100kobo, please can you explain how to go about transferring Sevis ID from one school to another, is there going to be any financial implication?

Please, forget the lashes being dished out from the other side, you are a rare gem.
I actually did this, the new school will prepare a prior I20 for you, visit the fmjfee.com website and click on the I901 fee transfer button, fill in the details of the new Sevis code from your preferred school and the new school sevis code, they'll send you a 'no reply' mail notifying you that they received your request and another one about the status...it takes two business days to completely transfer your sevis fee(note your fee is valid for a year) there are no financial implications...best wishes

Good morning to everyone. Please I am new here and I would like to get advice from the forum.. I got admitted to three schools in the USA and I have one of the schools i20.. The issue is am yet to receive the i20 of my most preferred school so am wondering if I can pay for my sevis now and change it later to my preferred school when their i20 arrives just to be able to book my interview. Thanks
Yea you can, sevis fee is transferrable within the year. But once you've submit your DS-160 with your less preferred school's sevis code you won't be able to change it. Are you going to the embassy with the less preferred school's I-20 or you'd wait for the I20 of your most preferred school to get to you?
