You should have seen him in Benfica or Euro 2016, guy knows how to put a foot right!

More tackles,more susceptible to get carded.Vidal's job in this team is not to get assists and goals but to form that Agbero and stop teams from scoring and that he has done very well.Am not talking about Semedo of Benefica but that of Barca. You may not like him but cant deny that anytime he plays well,he's really a wall.

Bro,Dembele is the only noticeable player we missed.Maybe Umtiti as we haven't really played much with him this season and some of the goals we have conceded apart from when Pique was playing badly at the beginning of the season has been from Lenglet. But Arthur,nah. The past few weeks that we played badly hasn't been because we were missing Arthur was generally the form of the team was poor.

I understand the whole Vidal thing.Hes just like Rakitic. They don't play eye catching passes or have the whole game revolving around them.Heck i even see Busquet in matches this days more than Rakitic but there's a reason why they are elite footballers. Someone said that we have conceded less with Semedo at right back and I will tell you Vidal is the reason for that.He covers Semedo a lot in games and makes a lot of tackles for him.Watch Semedo with and without Vidal and you will see the difference.That second leg is an example.But as i said before before,he's not a Barca-Esque kind of player so we won't know

Both play different things.Arthur is a CM while Vidal is a Box to Box Midfielder. Arthur was injured and we did just fine and didn't even miss him.

Vinicius wasn't much of a threat yesterday but I wouldn't completely allude it to roberto. Vinicius' decision making is terrible as was evident in the first leg so solari tried to reduce the shooting burden on him. He was instructed to find benzema and bale in space, both of whom have better accuracy or At least are supposed to.

So unlike the first game where vinicius was constantly burning semedo with pace and was always looking to cut in, in yesterday's game we saw more of crosses and lay offs from him. And the fact that pique and rakitic all teamed up to support Roberto was also a masterstroke, semedo didn't get that much support in the first leg, he was often left isolated against not just vinicius but regulion.

Roberto offers loads more in attack as can be seen in his assist and goal numbers but semedo is better defensively. At the end of the day, it all boils down to finding the right balance.

Yes,he's decision making was poor but to say that credit is not to be given to Roberto is really unfair to Roberto. The thing most people don't understand about defending is that it's not all about making tackles or clearing balls or committing fouls but to make the attackers make mistakes which what was Roberto did.Whenever Vinicus had the ball yesterday,Roberto tracked back as a make shift CB instead of charging towards him as a RB.This allowed Pique to be at his CB position instead of coming out to help Roberto which is if you noticed was what Pique did for Semedo in the 2nd leg.There was this chance Vinicus had in the game in which both Semedo and Pique were marking him at the same time.That never happened in this game. When Roberto had taken that make shift CB role,he then charged towards Vinicus who had no other option but to go for the crosses which was then cleared by Pique.Some of the times he wanted to cut in,he met Rakitic.It was a really good defensive outing by Roberto

Arthur has been very good but has no exceptional match under his belt or any exceptional performance. Vidal meanwhile has been a beast since he started playing more minutes.Of course,he doesn't play 1-2 passes or play diagonal passes or any of that but he's work rate has been exceptional and has really helped us defensively and going forward.He's the one hat has been making tackles in this team and winning balls for us.He's had a couple of bad games especially that match against Athletico Bilbao and he doesn't have that Barca flare but he's been our best signing

the reason Jordi Alba and Semedo can push high enough is because they are pacey enough to recover when we lose possession. Roberto isn't that fast, Roberto and Pique's marking styles involve a lot of Shadow marking than actually getting their body in like Umtiti, Alba and Vidal. Semedo is good at dribbles but like I've said before, Semedo doesn't cross unlike Alba and Roberto. Roberto gives more sensible passes and Roberto understands threading through passes when he sees someone making a run behind the opposition defense. Things that Semedo has to learn. Offensively, Semedo dribbles better but his final ball has a lot to be desired.

Like you already know, Roberto is better ish defensively but with yesterday's performance, YESTERDAY o!! I'd go with Robeto over Semedo, even though I prefer Roberto to Semedo

I really agree with you.Once Semedo gets his final ball correctly,he could really be a Dani Alves.But you can't deny that he's game has really improved since he came to the team.Roberto on the other hand has also grown and in all,I think we all can agree that we need this kind of competition between our players

Can u read what u just wrote? Yesterday was probably roberto's best defensive performance at barca. But semedo is on another level defensively(world class). To me semedo is better than roberto. People seem to have a short memory because of his poor game in the 2nd leg of the cdl classico.

Nah.He had those same defensive lapses against Vinicus in the first leg of the tie especially in the first half of that game. I said it here in this thread after that first half that Vinicus was giving us a lot of trouble but I guess people were too caught off by his 2nd half performance.Defensively Roberto is better.If you have watched Barca's games this season,you will notice that Valverde plays Vidal whenever he plays Semedo.Vidal is the one that does all the defensive work which then allows Semedo to play his game.Yes Semedo had a poor game in the first leg but had it been Vidal started that game ahead of Roberto,it wouldn't have that way.

Btw,I also said that Vidal was out best signing.What a great signing.Dude it has been for us

under Zidane, Madrid played side over load, especially using Carvajal's wing, and swinging crosses to Ronaldo. In this Madrid team, only two players run at defenses, Vinicus and Modric. Bale tried and was swiftly nullified. Alba and Lenglet were too mobile for anyone attacking through there, and Busi was always offering support to that wing. Even Asensio suffered the same, so the thing to do was use Vinicus' pace, space behind Roberto when he overlaps, and hope that Pique will falter. However, when that worked for like 5 minutes, Valverde brought on Vidal, na so thing end. Vidal offers us a whole lot, always throwing himself into tackles and trying to win as many balls as possible. Its just nice that Valverde had the measure of Solari too

Honestly,I didn't see the need of Vidal in this game as we were doing perfectly fine and the substitutions from Madrid barely changed anything.Remember that Madrid were crossing to Ronaldo.Who was Vinicus crossing to?Bale?? Benzema??Bale was barely noticed in this game especially in the 2nd half and Benzema was coming out of the box to collect ball to pass to Vinicus who will then cross to nobody.Bale in the first half was crossing instead of shifting to his left foot to shoot.Same with Vinicus.The thing is they were crossing to nobody.Who's going to head those crosses?Vinicus??Benzema??The only decent heading they had came from Modric in the first half.Modric of all people.And I was expecting Vinicus to try cutting into his right and shooting.The time he shot,it was well over the bar.Nobody even closed him down for the shot cause they knew it was not going to be on target.

The thing is Valverde did his home work very well by nullifying Vinicus and Solari had no answers to it.He could had Bale turning to his left foot to shoot.Same. Could have had Vinicus and Benzema shooting from outside the box and should have stopped the stupid crossing

well I still prefer Roberto to Semedo, Semedo relies on his speed, Roberto relies on his brain. Some things Roberto did in this match Semedo can only hope to learn. Positioning is learnt, especially for defending against faster players. Semedo doesn't have that particular skill. If Semedo had started this match again against Vinicus jnr, Vinicus jnr and Madrid would have smiled home.

As I said before both players offer us different things and that is what I really like.Defensively I prefer Roberto and offensively I like Semedo more.Maybe generally,I will take Roberto.Semedo needs a Vidal kind of player who will cover his lapses but he's great offensively.He offers us a lot of pace at that right wing which for some seasons now,we have been really lacing as Messi is more of a CAM than RW. Due to him being that offensive,he's defending and positioning has not been that good which is where Roberto has been better.But Roberto doesn't offer us.what Semedo offers us offensively.He rarely attacks as a RW and him going forward is him just forming part of the 4 midfield players rather than being part of the front 3

I beg to differ on going forward.I even said it here in the first leg of Copa Del Rey at Camp Nou when Semedo was our man of the match that he nearly gave me a heart attack in the first half of that match as he was really pushing forward and neglecting his defensive duties and Vinicus was exposing him.The Varane own goal at the 2nd leg was him playing that great pass to Dembele.Roberto don't have that vision and he doesn't have that attacking threat that Semedo carries.Semedo going forward is like having an extra RW when we attack while Roberto is like having a RM

Solari has himself a good team, see Reguilon of yesterday! Even small Valverde fouled Messi. And Madrid played better with these young boys. I just wish Alena had played but he wasn't needed. Every time we went forward we looked like we would score. We had threats from both wings which isn't often and this match was fun

He has a good team but he's a poor coach.I like the idea of young players really performing under him and playing really well but I don't see him lasting.Every ball was sent to Vinicus even though he was doing nothing with them as both Pique and Roberto didn't allow him do anything.He didn't even disturb Alba in the game and was too one dimensional.Had Vinicus crossing the ball when Benzema wasn't even attacking in the box.Lacked ideas especially in the 2nd half and his substitutions were really predictable and lacked any dynamism.Valverde really just outclassed him.

Maybe it was in the first half but in the 2nd half he really tracked back.Anytime we were attacked I noticed we shifted to the 442 formation. and whatever loose ball that came out of that wing,he really was the one to start the counter attack

Dembele still hasn't gotten to his element, doesn't track back as he ought to overall sha he tried. Messi oh Messi, Arthur was solid, bossing the middle from the fake world best. Rakitic and Busquet were splufik. Suarez made some brilliant runs but needs to be more decisive in front of goal. Stegen the Spiderman was brilliant keeping back to back clean sheets at bernaLEO isn't an easy feat.
I was thinking EV would replace Dembele with Malcolm, dude would have made a statement unlike the rubbish Countinho played.
All in all I would the team 8/10

I don't really think Roberto is actually better neither is Semedo.Both offer us different things.Roberto is for games where we need defensively stability while Semedo is for games in which we need to really attack.

What game did you watch??Dembele tracked back when needed.Not his fault daft Solari decided to send all his balls to Vinicus as Alba was baby bothered and hence no need for Dembele to really track back in the game.Every other thing was spot on

Actually we could have scored more but scoring in that first half really allowed us to just sit back in the 2nd half and snuff out any attacking threat from Madrid

I think this is Valverde best match after that Demolition at the beginning of the season.Played Roberto ahead of Semedo and he pocketed Vinicus.The match was very comfortable as he tactically out classed Solari.Played Arthur ahead of Vidal and this allowed us to dedicate the tempo of the game.Pique was very solid as he has been our best player for some games now.Overall am really happy as this has been our best match in a very long time

My man of the match is Pique.How many balls did he actually clear?? Arthur was very good.Dictated the pace of the game.Busquet and Rakitic was good as usual even though Rakitic almost cost us a goal. Lenglet backed Pique up and this is the first time am actually impressed by him.Sergi Roberto pocketed Vinicus.Messi was walking throughout the game.Suarez??Just another day in his books without the misses.Dembele played very well,made those runs but still can't understand the reason behind thw passing from him.Think it was Valverde's decision for him not to dribble and play a tiki taka.Valverde got his tactics all right

Overall performance is a solid 9.8/10 as we dealt with everything,won and kept a clean sheet. Madrid is officially confirmed to be our bitch and congrats Le Clues on succefully retaining both Copa Del Rey and La Liga

Doesn't work that way.According to fifa rules,referees and coaches cannot force a player to come off when the board goes up especially if the player doesn't want to come off.You simply continue the match with the player.Highest he wouldve gotten was yellow card for time wasting.Nothing else.
