airmark: Same way Rodri is being targeted at Man City? Mind you, this guys have the same profile Jorginho has never been a player comfortable under pressure. So it’s very easy for teams to exploit him. Eddie Howe was the first manager to see this. Put Bournemouth players on Jorginho, and he collapsed like a pack of cards cause he had no clue what to do when players pressed him. This was killed Sarri cause he was too stubborn to play out without Jorginho. Busquet on the other hand even without Xavi and Iniesta, is still a key player benching Rodri at Spain. Besides targeting Busquet in his prime was useless cause he will always beat that press. Busquet without Xavi and Iniesta reached Euro semi final last year and won 2015 champions league with Rakitic benching Xavi and an already declining Iniesta. He has excelled in that DM and have redefined the role in such a way that in the modern game, managers now also look for players that have that technical ability, not just physicality. 8 Likes |

airmark: Jorginho fared better than Busquet? Man, you disrespect Busquet a lot and that’s not even funny anymore. How many DMs have come through the ranks of Barca and Spain over the years that have taken that role from Busquet. The likes of Carrick and Busquet have proven you don’t need physicality to comfortably play that role. What they lack in physicality is highly compensated with their intelligence on and off the ball. This is what is heavily lacking in Jorginho’s game. Jorginho cannot play that lone DM alone. Kovacic, Veratti and Kante must be there. He’s easily dispossessed and bullied off the ball under high press. Busquet literally made his name in the game with his ability to beat a press. Over 10 yrs, Busquet is still an integral part of Barca and Spain. If that’s not greatness, I don’t know what it is 6 Likes 1 Share |

NinjaXmetahuman: If you’re backing a manager with over 250m, practically buying the players he wanted, you’re surely buying into his philosophy. He’s only had one training session with Auba and probably none with Zakaria. Just 2 games after the closing of the transfer market. 3 wins off the bounce like Manchester United, this team will be right back. Makes no sense sacking him 11 Likes |

popizaino: Man, it’s been just 2 games post transfer window. Yes, the footballing hasn’t been great but it’s not like the man has lost every single game he has played this season. Leicester are bottom of the league with no wins and are yet to sack Rodgers. Madrid lost their first champions league game last season and still won the competition. Teams, players and managers go out of form all the time. The season barely started. It’s not like it’s the most crucial stage of the season. Back your managers ffs 1 Like |

Culer: Pogba and Veratti are hardly controllers. They don’t dictate the tempo of games they play. Pogba feeds into that space where players like Kante, Pirlo, Marchisio do majority of the work for him and he has free license to do whatever he wants and Veratti on the other hand is like Gavi. Mainly tasked with ball winning in the team. Bernardo on the other hand is a game controller. As someone already said, Bernardo is too versatile, so he hardly plays that position where he controls the game. But whenever he plays that CM/CAM role, he helps to dictate things. That’s why I personally wanted him 1 Like |

Jodera: We’ll be fine. The whole buzz about Barca is issue of wage bill which is the major headache not the transfer fees or the debt itself. Some of the debts have been repaid already and others have been structured to be paid in medium to long term. Major headache is the wage bill. Bart gave out 300m+ in contract extensions to 4 players 1 week before resigning just to save 30m due to Covid. That’s where this whole problem is. We need to cut down that wage bill drastically. Laporta planned to activate 4 levers but after activating the 2nd lever which is the sale of the Barca studios felt there was no further need to sell more assets. All was needed was to ship the dead woods to cut down the wages. Problem is that a player like Umtiti can’t be moved due to his knee issues as he failed his medicals to move to Lens if I’m correct. Braithwaite is refusing to leave despite receiving 3x his current offer and wants to leave if the club buys out the rest of contract. Frenkie is also refusing to leave or accept a pay cut. Also La Liga is not allowing registrations so Barca have to go ahead to activate the full levers as planned before. All this will end at the end of the transfer window. We have a very good squad right now that’ll compete. If we win La Liga this season, it will make things much easier in other to ship out guys like Braithwaite and Umtiti and probably De Jong. I think we’ll be very fine 7 Likes |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) / Re: Fc Barcelona Fan Thread: "més Que Un Club" by Adiwana: 7:40pm On Aug 10, 2022 |
I love Frenkie but the club will always come first. Not reducing his salary or leaving will only make things go down hill from here. He won’t get any minute here and the club will probably send him to Barca B. The fans will turn against him as it’s already happening. If theres any case in the whole illegality issue about his contract, he’ll probably be embroiled into an unnecessary legal war with the club. This will make clubs stay away from him and that will be the end of his career as we know it. If you love the club as you claim, just cut down your wages to help the club help you. The club can’t pay your current wages if it doesn’t generate revenue and that can’t happen without players who will win trophies getting registered because of your wages. If not, just leave and save everybody the stress and embarrassment. Win win situation for everybody 5 Likes 1 Share |

The money in Nollywood then was understandably small as it was an emerging industry and Pete is one of the reasons the industry is where it is today but people forget that civil servants were middle class then. Like how’d you forget that this were folks driving Peugeot, getting lands for free in choice areas as per govt allocations etc. The area Pete and his family lived in the 80’s someone already described here is still a high choice area in Enugu today. sirDUKE: Someone in his position should know better and should not be making such rookie mistakes. This is what happens when you are surrounded by yes men who agree with everything you say out of fear. Every indicator points towards the invasion being a total disaster from the go and just playing right into the hands of the west. If people were talking to him at Kremlin, this would not have happened. Unfortunately, America has been playing this game long and well enough 3 Likes |

tonididdy: Except that NATO was never going to admit Ukraine. NATO knows that any admittance would lead to nuclear warfare which frankly neither Putin or NATO wants. Then Putin went and now played his whole hand. Dude was clearly holding all the cards regardless. Pulling back his troops after the threats last week was just enough to strengthen his position of power. Ukraine was a bait which he whole heartedly took. The whole thing looks so Ill prepared. He neither has his people’s support or any support from the outside. It doesn’t even look his soldiers are fully motivated for the fight. The China he may have been banking on have been unusually quiet. He’s now talking about getting the nuclear units ready. Ready for what? Nobody is ready to drop any bomb in Russia, so why is he now talking about Nuclear. Your country’s life support is clearly been targeted. Economic sanctions are flying in from left right centers, It’s open season for hackers to target your your financial institutions. Everything leads right to internal implosion. Your people will revolt and kick you out. Dude fuccked up big time and he will pay for it 7 Likes |

Jackanda1: Aptly put. Thank God someone shares the same sentiment with me. Dude miscalculated big big time and fell right into the hands of the west without the west firing a single shot. The invasion was not necessary at all and was totally needless. Pulling back his troops from the border was enough to send the right message. Now with the evasion, I don’t think anybody expected the type of resistance Ukraine has put up so far. Plus it now means playing into the hands of those who’ll now see all reason to cripple the Russian Economy with FULL support of the whole world Dude is not smart at all 8 Likes 1 Share |

AnfieldFan: They didn’t know he was complicit when he was pumping in money into their economy investing money into Chelsea and the local communities around the club and buying up hundreds of millions pounds yachts and condos. Last year during the height of the pandemic, he gave out the club and his hotels to help the govt curtail the spread of the virus, Boris and co didn’t know he was using “Putin’s Money’ to do all that. I’m all for sanctions but using excuses of having ties with Putin is such a laughable argument. He’s one of the world’s richest men so of course, one way or the other he will always have ties with Putin. It is what it is. By the way, the same UK that’s huffing about seizing his assets whole heartedly accepted the Saudi govt’s money for NewCastle despite a track record of killings and human rights abuse. Guess who buys most arms from UK? Well, you already know the answer. Tomorrow if they fall out of line, the UK will come back with the argument that they will seize NewCastle cos they just found out Saudi govt kill oppositions. By the way, dude is an Israeli citizen and Chelsea is indirectly indebted to him to the tune of $2bn. All this stuff na noise. Nobody is touching him 6 Likes |

BlueMann: The penalty was rightly given. Djenpo stretched out his hands instead of tucking it in his body, so not much complaints about that. Then he blew full time whistle at 85 mins, gave a straight red afterwards for a foul of yellow then blew full time at 89 mins.
