A heartbreaking development of the story with the soldiers’ mutiny, which was followed by the severe court punishment.
It would be recalled that the military court December 17 sentenced 54 soldiers to death over mutiny.
The convicts, attached to the 7th Division, Nigerian Army in Maiduguri, disobeyed orders to join operations against Boko Haram on August 4. They were accused of conspiring to commit mutiny against the Division authorities.
The popular human rights activist, Femi Falana (SAN), expressed his own opinion thus:
“Instead of bringing such unpatriotic officers to book, the military authorities have engaged in the diversionary tactics of wasting the lives of innocent soldiers by sentencing them to death without any legal justification.”
According to Premium Times, one of the convicted soldiers used his Facebook account after the sentence announcement to post this heartbreaking message
“Hello ladies and gentle men. I am soldier and I am sentenced to death by the Nigerian Army. (be)Cause we did not go to fight Boko Haram without equipment. We ask for weapon instead (they) gave (us) death sentence.”

Most of the Generals leading g this small, disgraceful war against 17, 18 and 19 year old Boko Haram fighters are billionaires now. They pocket the defence budget and expose our young dynamic troops to unfortunate and avoidable death. GEJ is the worst CIC any country has ever had in history.
To those going to vote for this President, ask yourselves if excellence, patriotism and honour mean anything from whatever tribal basis you are using to support this man. These young men will die because the military law says so but I tell you that ...."there manhoods will live long after them" and justice is not served when the top officers responsible go free. As for me there is only one man that can rescue this country and he is currently not in Aso Rock.

This does not happen in a country that has a good government. I don't know what excuses people want to give but this is not acceptable performance of any government.

Very few Rivers people will vote for Wike. Paid crowds cost about five million. The Ogonis and riverine people have been marginalized with having another Ikwerre governor in Rivers State. Two thirds of Rivers PDP is against Wike and the hole of APC. We shall see hat happens on election day.

Welcome move. The campaign effort would have physical, electronic and social media elements. PDP should prepare for a blitz of negative information and 'nyansh openings' to borrow the expression.

Amaechi is dogged and achievement oriented and does not give a damn for Jonathan-like soft minded likeability.
The first thing he did as governor of Rivers State was the unpopular action of demolishing all defacing fences in the metropolis. This improved the landscape and enhanced security a great deal. Somebody like Jona no go even get liver to think am.

He is already active, positioning the candidate and rebranding him from the harsh, Spartan image he was projecting. All new trendy pictures of Buhari we hear are Amaechi's doings.

The immediate targets would be the South South votes. PDP is no more a party but a mere campaign organization to restore Jonathan and a few intra party winners into office. This has left by the wayside numerous losing aspirants and millions of angry ex-supporters in Rivers, Cross Rivers, Bayelsa and Akwa Ibom State.
