CelebritiesRe: Wizkid Tweets About Why He Didn't Honour BET's Invitation by adozie(m):
He is right on point. BET and others should start taking artists of African origin seriously.
Which one is award by 10am and receiving award in the back stage. I support him on this one. All African musicians should boycott the show.
This was the same thing that oyibo people did to African Americans in the U.S through MTV.
Why should BET do the same thing to African musicians huh

Way to go WizKido!!

...and you think that story is completely true? You have only heard from one side. This is what professionals abroad suffer every time in the hands of ingrates. Too bad they are learning in a hard way - NEVER EVER employ a Nigerian as a maid abroad. Instead hire Ghanians, Filipinos and Caribbeans. At the end you don't have someone trying to reap where they did not sow and messing up all you have worked for.

To be sincere those names the op mentioned have very little impact during the electioneering, check the number of votes GMB got in SE & compare it to that of 2011 & its also shows that all Igbos don't think the same, some have put the civil war behind them & embracing a better Nigeria while some are still bitter about what happened 30years ago to the extend of brainwashing their offsprings that GMB is behind the civil war.
Igbos in general have put the civil war behind them. We are no longer bitter. We fought a good fight and lost. If you doubt me, look around Nigeria and show me any tribe that has invested outside their tribe and around Nigeria more than the Igbos.

I am a proud Nigerian. I supported Buhari from day one, even when he contested against Obasanjo. I believe in his governance because I personally witnessed his leadership in 1983.
Yes Igbos can be very opinionated. That was what you saw in the last election. Igbos will support the Buhari government not because they are cowards, but because they identify with success. They don't follow sheepishly. They will be the first to admit that they are wrong when they are wrong - that is what you are seeing.

Interesting indeed - very good response.

I wonder how people continue to be deceived ...the stupid politics that they played during the civil war. At the end Ikwerre people, wake up to the fact that the Hausa-Fulani and Yorubas see you as what you are. If you are not Igbos, then quit answering Igbo names!!!

Even Amaechi himself said that he is Igbo!

OP before you start criticizing Nigerian social values, even the westerners who you are seemingly adoring have a saying " He who pays the piper calls the tune"
Nigerian social value system is very different. Like someone said earlier, culturally the man is expected to be the family head.

Contrary to your assessment, what I have noticed with the current generation of Nigerian young men is that they refuse to work hard and expect a woman to pick up their bills.
HealthRe: She Hid Her Hiv Status From Her Hubby For 5yrs by adozie(m): 11:05am On Apr 20, 2015
[quote author=fsb post=32907824]This happens more often than not.

When dealing with hiv patients, I think one of the more important questions is whether or not they have disclosed their status to anyone else as part of counseling.

If the client says, I have not told my spouse then the health care worker is not in a position to disclose the information except with the approval of the client.

Actually what you said is absolutely wrong. Unlike other diseases, you as the healthcare worker is required to carry out HIV-surveillance, which empowers you to ensure that your patient discloses her status to all their sex partners. Both you and your patient can become liable if another person gets infected because of non disclosure. This is a basic healthcare and epidemiology concept that is taught to all health care workers who take care of HIV patients. Non disclosure is EVIL

I am a well educated professional in the same field with my wife. We both have advanced degrees. I have 4 daughters who are all smart and have high asppirations. I am sorry to say that I do not believe that any man who is willing to derail your pursuit for higher education truly loves you. He should embrace your interest in undertaking a masters degree.
Now let me tell you what I tell my girls on daily basis ; 'that man is only interested in you today because of what you have done for yourself". If you were a secondary school drop out, he will not be interested in you.
Intellectual and financial freedom is the only way a woman can protect herself from abuse from men (husband included). You can not give your husband absolute power over you, and you do so be denying yourself these two important survival tools in the modern world.
Honestly I can not understand why a successful like he is will think of not encouraging a future partner (note"partner"wink to pursue higher education, unless he intends to dominate her. I am very worried that he is giving you the option to choose between your education and him. Mark my words, this is the begining of the many of such ultimatums to come.

HealthRe: Any Cure For Myoclonic Seizure For A 17 Year Old Girl? by adozie(m): 6:36pm On Mar 29, 2015
Madam, I am a consultant Neurologist in the US. Please disregard all the remedies that people are proposing for you. It will only make her condition worse.
Unfortunately Carbamazepine is not a good choice of anti epileptic medication for myoclonus seizures. A better choice will be Valproic acid or even better, Lamotrogine.
Myoclonus seizure is a primary epilepsy syndrome and am afraid there might not be a permenent cure. She needs good seizure control and she can live a normal healthy life if her seizures are well controlled.
If you need further help, I will be glad to provide you with more information.

Best of luck with her

PoliticsRe: Gov Fashola Ignorantly Seeks A Cut In Petrol Pump Price by adozie(m): 10:18pm On Dec 07, 2014
Fashola is 100% correct. The United States for instance depends on locally produced crude oil and imported crude for fuel. Since the oil price started falling we have seen at least a $1 drop per liter in fuel (petrol).
This is the Federal Government clearly exploiting Nigerians. Remember Nigeria imports most of its finished oil products through oil marketers (mostly politicians) including NNPC. These people are clearly exploiting Nigerians. This has nothing to do with oil subsidy. It's a simple logic and we the people have to demand for our rights. They are making a kill (tons of profit ) from us and exploiting our ignorance.
TravelRe: Frankie Edozien: I Left Nigeria 25 Years Ago, But America Just Sees Me As Black by adozie(m): 5:12pm On Dec 04, 2014
I can totally relate to this.
I am a Nigeria professional ( medical doctor) living here in the US. I am what we will generally describe in Nigeria as a senior consultant and the equivalent of a CMD in a Nigerian hospital.

I can tell you I had a humbling experience just an hour ago in Las Vegas where I am attending a conference of US medical directors.

As with most of these conferences, this one is taking place in one of the most expensive hotels here. I happen to be staying in the Spa club level (most expensive and reserved part of the hotel)
Just this morning (6:30) I wore a jeans with t-shirt and went down to get coffee (my daily routine at home before I shower) and while I was about to get back into the elevator , I was stopped by a Hispanic waiter demanding to see my key before I can get into the elevator. I asked him if this was routine and while there I can see several white folks go in and out of same elevator leading to the Spa club level, and then I realized it was racial profiling.
I immediately changed my accent to as "igbotic" as it can be and told him off. I told him that he was sick and should go look himself in the mirror. He claimed that it was for my security and those of other guests in the Spa club level.
Honestly I was so angry and felt humiliated that this happened just because I was black !!
You have to experience this first hand to understand. It could be at work , with the cops or even immigration.

As the say "east or west, home is the best". This only reinforced for me, the reason we as Africans, as Nigerians, should work hard to build our nation. Stamp out corruption, enshrine accountalibity and celebrate hard work.
PoliticsRe: FG To Buy Cooking Stoves With N9.2bn by adozie(m):
Nigerian government clearly doesn't know what to do with money. What is this trash? How will this affect the common man? How is this sustainablehuh
We have gas right?...being flared and wasted every day.
Why can't government invest in efficient use of gas in Nigeria.
I bet if they set up a national competition for engineering students with just N1 million prize money to come up with a more efficient way to use gas in Nigeria for cooking, am sure you will be surprised by the outcome.
Despite the dwindling crude oil income, this government is still wasting money on stupidity. Who is advising these people?
Oh well, it's just another way to steal money ; after all "stealing is not corruption" - GEJ 2014!. Shame on all of us the citizens of this country to watch these looters destroy our future
