That list contains qualified (new ACAs) names. But he only posted the page he found is name. Note, it's posted by Exam number (i.e) not Alphabetically. It's authentic.

When it comes to ICAN results or exam results of any kind even the strongest and the most brilliants tend to have a feeling of fear. That joker might not know the havoc he has wrecked in some peoples' lives.

Emile Wolf didn't create ACCA syllables, but the study texts. In fact, BPP and Kaplan ACCA study packs are more popular than Emile Wolf's.

Can't sign financial statement without ICAN - really? But I know of one of Big-Four tax partner who holds no ICAN yet he'smember of the Nigerian Taxation Standards Board and Chairman of the Taxation and Fiscal Policy Management Faculty Board of ICAN.

My colonial mentality? Because I asked someone to forget ICAN, and register ACCA.

I will reiterate it again, forget ICAN, and register for ACCA.

ACCA gets international recognition more than ICAN. With ACCA you are easily recognized as chartered accountant in Europe, Asia, Austrila, Africa etc though some countries will require you to register and be licensed before you can be allowed to practice.

With ICAN, you will have to write 5 papers to get ACCA; with ACCA you write 2 papers to get ICAN.

If you're a student of ACCA, the date that your result will be released is known to you; but as a student of ICAN, you have to come to nairaland to read different speculations. You can confirm my assertions here.

With ACCA, you can get MSc in Applied Accounting from UK universities but ICAN can't give you that.

Case study: all the known professional accountancy bodies such as AICPA, CIMA, ICEAW, ACCA and others will send you the case study questions to study few days before the examination. But ICAN will only give you 4 hours on the examination day to study the same questions and write on it.


There are many things that ICAN needs to improve on, but they are not ready for improve.

Note that I am a professional student of ICAN....

My brother this is ICAN forum not ACCA. The way you replied somebody's request for materials shows you lack communication skills. I got my primary school and secondary school certificates in schools in Ajegunle Lagos does not mean it can't be accepted in UK or does not make it have global recognition and that if I need to work in UK I would need to go to UK primay and Secondary school to get recognised Uk primary and secondary school certs. ICAN is recognised globally. ICAN has dustrict societies in USA, Canada, UK etc. ICAN members are working here in USA with their certificates. If one can pass ICAN'S regorious exam then writing ACCA would be a work over, knowing that according to you one would have to see exams questions before the exam date.

Shame on you. Besides ACCA holders are not more knowledgeable than ICAN members as both syllabuses are written by Emile Wolf. With your ACCA without ICAN you can not signed any financial statement in Nigeria. Value what you have and stop this colonial mentality of yours.

So how do I qualify for an Exemption?

The steps are there on ICAN site. After your registration you submit your relevant documents signed by an ICAN chartered who is up to date in paying his dues. Submit to ICAN office close to you. After about a month ICAN would send you a mail or text telling you the level where you would start from and the number of exemption(s). Then check it with the list above and pay before you write the exams.

Exemption fee is the fee you pay for not writing the ICAN exams from scratch i.e (ATS1). Any other level apart from ATS1 must pay exemption fee. Check your exemption fee BELOW and add to what the guy up there has outlined. Thanks.

Yes you can. But you need a PGD first before proceeding to Masters. There are short courses organised by Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria for HND and Bsc for their school of journalism in Lagos. Good Luck

let me explain to u.in every other profession lyk law,engineering & medecine,d pass mark is 40 even ANAN,bt ICAN,ACCA & other accounting bodie,d pass mark is 50.if there is mass failure in any of ican subjects dat affect overral perfomances dat is wen the upgrading comes in.d purpose wy ican ask u to fill ur tuition centre is to b sure dat u have formal training cos d only critisism against ican,acca & others by ANAN is dat their candidates ar nt trained in d classroom.
ican find it dificult to upgrade any candidate dat prove dat ge/she can pass witout attending lecture.if such candidate score 49.5,if there is general upgrading such candidate wouldn't be

I disagree with you Sir. ICAN does not do favouritism in her marking process. You either pass or fail. Anybody can write any tuition centre irrespective of whether they attended or not in the box provided. ANAN is run just like our higher institutions where a lecturer gives marks to students anyhow. In ICAN you don't know who marks your papers. This error of comment should not be allowed to tanish ICAN's image.

From Management Accounting to PM it has always been the course that frustrate many out of ICAN. Once you pass it be sure you are on our way to ACA.

Truth. Up till now I can't still believe how I passed Case Study and Strategic Financial Management.
