Well I worked in Nigeria in an organization people will describe as a great place to work and gain valuable experience in tech. It was still rife with unprofessionalism, eye service, nepotism and injustice. 90% of software engineers who joined the organization between 2017 and 2021 moved to tech jobs in europe, usa, canada and east africa. Nigerians can be predatory and greedy thus I do not blame people who leave Nigeria to pursue a careers elsewhere. Banks in Nigeria also lost a good number of tech workers.
Yeah, I was saying in the event the leadership and way of doing things change first. It is crazy over there! All those vices are here too, regrettably.

Canadians seeking asylum in the US 😂😂. Dude, you read about illegal immigrants in the US seeking asylum in the US by going through Roxham Rd. Okay, you're not a troll, you're just ignorant.
Yeah, it was very bad when a Canadian came to Jim youtube live show to say that. Illegal migrants seek asylum to US via anywhere: Mexico, Roxham Road, US airports with B1/b2, F1, J and A visas. Anything! I feel sorry for those Nigerians who are exit-seeking and I feel more sorry for them as the next Nigerian Govts are worse than the one being replaced. A troll and an ignoramus are what Nigeria needs now!

I'm not holding brief for any politician but when I come online I see people insulting men at the helm in government. If you were in their shoes what will you do differently please?

From where I'm standing our problem is beyond governance, the way the world is structured Africa is going to be in poverty for a long time, majority of products needed for sustainability are produced abroad, from your phones, to your cars, equipments for your industries and power plants, heavy duty machines, pharmaceuticals, down to your social media. Nigerians and Africans in extension will continue to wail about bad leadership. Call me a pessimist but it is what it is. Life is not fair and the way life is designed, one side has to be repressed for the other side to blossom.
Who's blossoming?

Nice analysis esp the fixing our home country and enjoying what is in it. Rather we help put deadwoods into positions and run away to become 'global citizens'. Where is the sense!? Only politicians fix countries, good and accountable ones not based on tribe or religion. Gay people dey here and system runs well. Settling here is best for you and your immediate family only, once you wanna do here act there, you may run into depression and stuff.

Canada's population is growing mostly due to immigration but the infrastructure (housing, schools, hospitals, doctors, cars ....) are not catching up with the pace of population growth. The housing market is the most obvious issue most Canadian citizens and residents face shortly after they land. Inability to find affordable housing to rent. For recent immigrants trying to buy a house, the prices are out of the roof due to high demand.

I'll like to reflect on my personal experience as regards housing in Toronto area. I got two job offers in my field before landing in Canada. I opted to travel to USA for some weeks before going to Canada to resume at the workplace. While in USA I reached out to a long friend of mine who had been in Canada for over ten years to tell him I'll be coming to start a job and will like to stay at his place while house hunting (he normally stays at my place when he visits Nigeria). The response I got was a bit far from what I expected. It was not a "yes" or "no" rather he asked that we talk about it later as he was feeling sleepy. He called me later to tell me his house was full and suggested that I stay at an Air BnB. I had no problem with that but I told him I don't want to be under pressure to rent a house I ordinarily won't want to rent and that is why I want a place to keep my two suitcases while house hunting. He opted to recommend that I ask someone else who I wasn't too close to. Out of need I reached out to that person who use to be my neighbor back in the days. Surprisingly the guy came through for me and even picked me up at the airport. I assured him that I'd spend only two weeks in his house before getting my place. After two weeks I moved to an Air BnB.

Within those two weeks I was told by all the agents I met that I'll need a credit report, a reference letter from a previous landlord, three months paystub from my job and an ID to rent a house. They were not willing to find me houses till I met this requirement thus the Air BnB was a surer option for me. My friend who had earlier claimed his house was full offered to now take me in if I could pay him $1,200 monthly but I declined the offer because I wanted to settle in as quickly as possible and I felt staying with him for long will equate to going against my early request.

I moved to an air bnb and got my first credit report after 6 weeks. However, the score was low and I was told I needed a score of at least 700. I was viewing apartments every couple of days. For each apartment I viewed, I met up to 5 and in some case 12 other prospective renters viewing the place. If the rental price is $2,300 per month the agent will advice me to offer $2550 to get ahead of competition. I got turned down for almost 4 months and hence remained at an air bnb while searching. Buyers also face a similar fate as they outbid one another to buy a house. Frustrated renters and buyers in the market tend to become anti-immigration after encountering things like. Two Nigerians I know who moved to Canada via express entry (one in 2016 and another in 2018) told me they will vote the conservative party in the next elections as they want Canada to close its borders and get its act rights lol.

Second issue people face is ability to find a family doctor and wait times at the hospitals. There are not enough doctors in the country. I have not used the public hospital yet but rather used a private clinic twice. My employer offers a health insurance package where the employer covers 80% and the employee covers 20%. This is what I've used and even that 20% was a lot as my tooth extraction cost about $2,400 in a private clinic and I had to pay 20% of the amount.

Some others have had not so good encounters with immigrants from Somalia and the Caribbean which also makes them criticize the whole immigration thing. At the end of it all nothing beats have your own country give you all that you desire

I think he means that US immigration is working more on cases of people who have entered the States illegally e.g through the southern border mostly and are undocumented, those who have overstayed their visitors visa, status change and all that. With all these; those who are going about it the right way are suffering serious wait times plus no movement of bulletin dates and no much interview call-ups.
You got it!

Hi again, I’m back with another question lol.
So I’m on work permit in Canada with a TRV that expires in 2025. However I had to travel to Nigeria for an emergency and I’m still going to be here till late April or early May. With the way PR applications are fast these days, if mine is approved before I leave for Canada, someone said I’ll need a PRTD to enter Canada again as my TRV will be useless and I need to apply for the PRTD. Note: I applied for PR outside Canada(2 weeks after I travelled to Nigeria to be specific). Please does anyone know anything about this?
PRTD is for permanent residents who don't have PR card when they traveled. So they apply for that in order to be allowed reentry to Canada. Not for someone who is waiting or getting PPR outside Canada.

Guys who go in from Mexico, guys who landed with B1/B2, Mexicans, Canadians claiming asylum etc. I have heard a Canadian seeking asylum. So the Govt focuses on them.

Yeah. My my became a USC while our petition was pending so we were supposed to be in the F11 (Unmarried son or daughter of U.S. citizen) category eventually but we wrote them and opted to remain in the F24 (Unmarried son or daughter of lawful permanent resident) category since it was the fastest moving visa category at the time.
Yeah. Try to reach out to the USCIS. US immigration favors illegal migration.

After submitting my work permit application, do i apply for a visa application or the work permit application covers for Visa application.

I would have asked the company lawyer this, but translating her french to English is even confusing (Quebec)

Please anyone in Quebec, i will be landing by June
Are you going to Quebec to live and work without French knowledge?

I am putting together documents for student visa application and I want my husband and child to come with me.
In writing my SOP, do I make a column or heading for my husband to explain himself too
Or will he have a separate SOP.

Please note he is the sponsor so I will be definitely mentioning him in my SOP as I'm the primary applicant.
Go to the student thread.
