One that I just laughed over was the guy who post something along the lines of "Our brothers in Palestine". I mean WTF! How are you brothers with them? Religious reason? Never heard that before. I wonder if folks up in Dafur aint brothers enough?
I sense desperation setting in here. One fact remains that you guys cannot dictate to anyone what topics to comment on. This fact will continue to eat you up until you probably commit suicide. Facts don't lie and they don't change. Hit your head against a wall.

Is this not the same Beaf and Afam who think the flotilla deaths were an outrage defending Robert Mugabe, the man who massacred thousands of innocents in Matabeleland? Because Mugabe has framed his desperate attempts to hang on to power in the mode of a war against western imperialism, these people have swallowed the kool aid like a bunch of suckers.
So now that you have found it very difficult to defend any of your positions based on bias you have resorted to making childish comments that are irrelevant?

Well, I will address your concern and show that your thought process is flawed.

1. I address issues as they come, I have been specific on what I oppose and what I support based on the actions.

2. I have always opposed blanket condemnation and commendation and instead have supported blaming or praising someone or a nation based on specific deeds or misdeeds.

I have never defended Mugabe for killing anyone but have always supported him for not bowing to pressures and blackmails from the West and in fact hope to see other African leaders tow this path.

I have criticized Israel's killing of innocent people and use of disproportionate force while recognizing its right to defend itself based on the condition that such right does not give them the power to kill unarmed and innocent people.

These are my positions and have always been.

I can never see life the way you do because of your baseless blanket condemnation or commendation regardless of the facts on ground.

I praise the incredible patience and wisdom of Uncle Joe in the mature handling of a very delicate period of our history. However, now that we gradually attaining stability, serious consideration needs to be given to the ethnic makeup of the armed forces officer ranks, especially after 2011.

If the ethnic demographics had not been so abnormally skewed in the army; we would never have had the situation were they were employed to play a dangerous political game with the coup like military operation that accompanied the clandestine shipping in of Yar Adua in the dead of night.

If the demographics of our officer corps were not so skewed, we would not have had the Jos crisis, neither would there have been the unbelievable war of words and passing of responsibilities between the army and the Plateau state govt.

Enough is enough. Nigeria cannot afford to keep playing command politics, it is high time we joined the civilised World. I pray that this is on Jonathans mind.
Is there any problem with the intake at NDA as regards these army officers?

The higher you go in the military a lot of appointments become political and there is very little anyone can do about that.

I guess you should focus on addressing early retirements of officers from certain parts of the country.

so are you saying that it's ok for men to be sexist because women would do the same if they were in control?
do you believe in gender equality?
This is how I deal with issues.

1. I change what I can change

2. I influence what I can influence

3. I learn to live with what I cannot do anything about.

So, whether I am a sexist as you put it or not will not have any bearing to the issue. I already stated it should be both ways and not one sided earlier.

ok. i think we are on the same page now  grin

i'm curious what your stance on polygamy is? are you christian?
personally, i think it's sexist. that's the only problem i have with it beside it being against the bible.
Glad to know that we are on the same page now.

Yeah, I am a christian. Became a christian by birth, glad it happened that way as I could have been a muslim if I had been born say in Iraq, Iran or Saudi Arabia.

Like you, bible is what christians rely on even though to a varying degree of understanding and application.

If you forget about the bible for a minute then polygamy seems unfair to women and should be both ways. However, do not forget the fact that many laws that seem to put the women at a disadvantage were actually put in place by men for their own selfish interests.

I believe though that women would have done the same if they had the powers to make laws that would guide people and nations. Who knows, maybe by now men would have been responsible for cooking, changing diapers, taking care of the home while the women are allowed to run around town in the name of providing for the family.

Before women liberation groups start attacking me the last paragraph was on a lighter note and does not imply that the place of the woman is in the kitchen even though it would make a lot of sense if that was the case, at least trips to Mr Biggs and co would reduce drastically. grin grin

yea I agree not all monks are holy. just as not all reverend fathers etc.  but i'm glad u said "SOME" not all.
which means that those some have no self control or discipline and shouldn't be in the position they are.

i don't think it's infidelity to have 4 wives. infidelity is when you cheat on your 4 wives with a 5th woman. i'm sure islam does not support infidelity.
marrying 4 wives is called polygamy not infidelity. both are wrong anyways.

those people who are open with their intimacy lives, as long as they marry someone who is ok with it. ex. people in open marriages such as will smith, hugh hefner of playboy mansion etc to me, that's fine. I don't support it but they are not committing a crime.
but lying to your wife and cheating on her back to me is VERY WRONG.
Ok, polygamy is wrong? You see my point, to you it is wrong to others it is not.

I guess your last paragraph cleared a lot of things up so I now understand where you are coming from.

Of course lying about sex is wrong, just needed to let you know that there are people who don't lie about it, have multiple sex partners, do wife swapping, engage in group sex with the full knowledge of their partners who enjoy or look forward to such things.

My point here is that we must be willing to accept the fact that not everyone is tied to the 1 man 1 woman till death mantra.

Yeah, I agree with you no cheating.  grin grin grin

Calling a spade a spade on indiscipline and lack of self control is now being seen as acting 'holier than thou' as someone said. The crap you read these days.
Hypocrisy on display here. My comments and statements reflect reality where as people like you state things you even know are lies just to feel good with yourself.

Today we have single parents everywhere, marriage breakups everywhere and both married men and women are engaging in all sorts of escapades and you pretend this is not happening?

I am not a pretender like you so tell a kid what you have in mind, certainly not me.

If you are ignorant about sex make it clear but don't come here and talk as if you know a thing or two about it when your comments show otherwise.

oyinda.:
yea wrist watch is not intimacy. but u get the same satisfaction from getting them. ok let's say car instead of wristwatch. i'm sure many men will agree to get a car in place of having intimacy for a week. you will ultimately get a satisfaction from it.

that's why infidelity is called "CHEATING"
if you know you are one of those guys who feel the need to have intimacy with every woman, then don't get married or lie to a girl that you are her boyfriend!!!
same with being materialistic. If you have the money to buy the wristwatch/car whatever, then you can splurge and buy as many as you want. as long as u are not stealing from someone to satiate your greed!!!

what do you think about monks? i know that's an extreme case. but what's your opinion? are they "holier than thou" people who are trying to please everyone?
Monks? They made choices which I respect even though just like every other thing in life some of them would still engage in sex if they have the opportunity. We have reverend fathers impregnating girls, sisters who are in seminary schools getting pregnant, choir masters sleeping with female members of the choir and even pastors doing same with women members of the church.

Now, there will be no end in sight on this issue because people see things differently.

What you call infidelity may not be infidelity to another. Christianity is about 1 man 1 wife but Islam allows a man to marry up to 4 wives.

Lastly, there are people who are more open with their sex lives than others and these people do not see what you see just as you do not see what they see.
PoliticsRe: Al Gore And Tipper Gore To Separate After 40 Years by Afam(m): 4:34pm On Jun 03, 2010

NO i did not say they will effortlessly do it!! I said the ones who lack discipline and self control will.
if men are told from birth that sleeping around is their right, they will not have the motivation to build the discipline and self control.
women have the self control because we are told from birth that if we do, we will be called sluts and love-peddlers. the same teaching is not taught to men so they feel that it's normal for them.
Sorry for not breaking my first sentence into two, the "effortlessly do it" part wasn't referring to what I claimed you agreed to.

oyinda.:
for example, when u go to the store and don't have money to buy a nice wristwatch, do you walk away or go and steal money to buy it? depends on your level of discipline or how you were raised!!
Wrist watch is not sex so the analogy does not apply.

oyinda.:
the people who get intimacy whenever they want to me are like criminals who go around looting and stealing. it is definitely not proper. and the fact that you question if it is proper or not makes me believe you are one of those men!!!
It really does not matter how you see those people who get sex whenever they want it just as they could see you as someone who could be worse as regards having sex with any man even though you try to portray otherwise.

Now, as to whether I am one of those men my response to you is this - sex is not a crime as long as it is not rape and it is between adults without any partner taking advantage of the other in any way it is ok.

I am not one of those who say things to please people or try to present a kind of holier than thou attitude in life, far from it.

I know for a fact that some women if given the chance would claim they have never seen a naked man even if they already have 2 or 3 kids.

oyinda.:
no one said it's not normal to think about it. thinking and doing are not the same thing!!!! people who can't restrict themselves are people who have no sense of disciple or control that's my point!!

for example, do you have the opportunity to have intimacy everytime you think of it? so what do u do when u think of it but there is no girl around? you control your urges right?
do u have the discipline to control it even when there is a girl around? i'm refering to ppl without any sense of discipline. those who feel it's their "manly natural right" to sleep around.

to me, that's just like stealing. yea everyone covets and thinks about good things of life. but does that give us the right to go and steal it if we don't have it?

that's a trait of greediness and laziness to me.
I am glad you agree that a lot of people think about it and many if given the opportunity will effortlessly do it.

So, that it is not common (the act itself) has more to do with availability and opportunity and not self control as you might think.

Yes, there are people who get intimacy whenever they want it trust me and the issue of whether this is proper or not is another matter entirely.

NB: Meanwhile why is Seun changing s-e-x to intimacy?

and do u think the young girls who do follow these old ugly men are doing it because they like his grandpa looks? mtchew and then when the young women marry a man for his money, you guys complain and say she's a gold digger, she's waiting for the old man to die to get his money.what else do u think a young girl would want in an old ugly grandpa?

african tradition ko, iranian tradition ni. the day america adopts that backward sexist practice called polygamy will be the day the world comes to an end.
Firing from all cylinders there!

@topic,

The funny thing is that many people think about a lot things when it comes to sex from fantasies to experiments than they would ever want to admit or divulge. Put differently, sex is something that is on a lot of peoples' minds but at the same time would not want to talk about it unless they are in the midst of others where any form of inhibitions must have been reduced to the barest minimum.

Call it sycophancy or hypocrisy if you like but beware of those that talk and behave as if they don't like talking or getting involved in sex, they are usually the undisputed tigers in the room kpakpa.

Was the domain name purchased separately or was it part of a deal as is free domain attached to a hosting plan?

In my opinion, Nigerians do not like facts and honest information about these things and that is why you see a lot of fly by night outfits claiming to be domain name or web hosting companies making impossible offers at ridiculous prices where Nigerians rush to use only to get disappointed in no time.

So, was the domain name paid for by you? If yes, then they have no right to hold on to it. If no, then they can hold on to it since you never paid for it.

However, since the company's website proper is not online it may be that the company itself may have gone under or that they cannot even access the control panel that can unlock the domain name in question.

This is the Pavlovian response mode.

It does not avail you in your current situation. You talk of "obvious lies" without even stating what those lies are. It is not everyone that argues to win trophies on this forum, so you show me my errors and see if I won't be the first to acknowledge my them. But you would have since done that if you had anything. So you dance round, scream "mistake" without stating its particulars, and have now resorted to this dishonesty in a search for a convenient way out.

Bottom line is: you do not have any facts to back up your claim that the IMF and the World Bank conspired against Zimbabwe and are responsible for the country's current crisis, or to refute any of the FACTS I stated in my response to Lwandle. Facts, Mr Afam, are different from opinions. Facts are either true or false. They can only be refuted with facts.
My dear, so if you state here now that OBJ is a woman you expect me to provide facts to challenge that? No sir, I will not do so.

For the simple fact that you cannot even admit the role of IMF and World bank in the economy of Zimbabwe is enough reason for me not to debate that with you.

There should be a minimum level of agreement on basic issues before engaging people in debates without which the debate will be meaningless.

Obviously desperate to create the impression you know way too much to bother to substantiate the claims you thoughtlessly throw around, right? Truth is, you find yourself lathered in the froth spewed from your own inward parts in your abortive labour to argue a subject you know nothing about. And so you skim through a write-up and seeing a few things you disagree with conclude it must have be written and emailed by the British Prime Minister. Rather than bring points to the table like you do on this forum in matters you are versed in, you attack the substance and the individual with more froth by throwing around more gibberish. Suits you, Mr Afam.
It seems you misunderstood me.

I have more than enough facts to challenge some of the positions you stated but based on the extent you have gone by repeating some of the popular lies and propaganda it will be an uphill task making you see anything objectively hence my position on this thread.

I respect facts, logic and common sense and I would not waste my time challenging the same lies over and over again because there will not be any end in sight.

All this fixation with the phrase “food basket” which has little to with the discussion? If I understand you correctly, what you saying is that a country that produces enough food to feed itself and to export does not qualify as a “food basket” in its region, or that you have to be ahead of the likes of South Africa to qualify. Ok.
This must be a novel method of refuting points. But, perhaps, you are still up to the task of giving particulars of how the IMF and the World Bank conspired against Zimbabwe and the roles they played in plunging Zimbabwe into its crisis? And, er. . . this is not a mistake.
You are saying that the war veterans woke up from sleep after nearly twenty years and put pressure on Mugabe? This is untrue. Perhaps you have forgotten and I need to remind you. It was Mugabe who ordered the veterans into the farms when he realised he was about to lose an election. I recall the words of the late Chenjerai “Hitler” Hunzi, then leader of the veterans, when confronted on why he was disobeying court orders to leave the farms: “I cannot disobey my president.”

I don't know about funding and sponsorship but I do know dictators often label opposition parties in order to harass them. I am not convinced Mugabe and the other primitive accumulators in Zanu-PF or their enforcers in the Army love Zimbabwe more than former labour leader Tsvangirai, or the cerebral and fearless student union leader-turned-politician Tendai Biti, or the irrepressible student union leader turned-brilliant scientist-turned-politician Arthur Mutambara. If Mugabe has any love for Zimbabweans he has not demonstrated it. He comes across as a cynical, calculating dictator driven by an unbridled lust for power. In the early days he preached reconciliation with the whites – so far so good. The West praised him. But then he let the white farmers be - a betrayal considering the fact that it was land that Zimbabweans fought bravely for. During the negotiations at Lancaster House the issue of land was discussed extensively and settled. Land was to be redistributed to the landless black majority and Britain was to help pay compensation to the white farmers. When the British selfishly reneged on this agreement what did Mugabe do to try to seek redress? Nothing. He did not not seriously pursue the matter, drag Downing Street to the UN or anything. He did nothing. If he had stood up then and insisted on an orderly land redistribution many would have supported him. If he had called Britain names then he would have found many allies right across the world. But he was happy to let his people suffer deprivation just so long as that guaranteed him the status he just acquired as the Great African Statesman with regular invitations to London and other European capitals.

Then one day he realises he is about to lose an election and cynically starts talking about land. He orders his friends into the farms to beat up, kill, burn and loot. A few white farmers and their Zimbabwean workers are murdered. People become jobless. Seized farms are given to government cronies with little or preparation for the project and most become unproductive. The economy collapses overnight. Elections become “do-or-die” as war veterans and Zanu-PF youths maim and kill opposition supporters. This is what our people are applauding. “A great black leader is taking back land from whites.” I do not buy it.

I think the mistake you and many others make is in failing to realise that oppression has no colour. It does not matter whether an enslaver is named Leopold, Cecil Rhodes, Verwoerd, Babangida, Abacha, Margaret Thatcher, Ian Smith or Robert Mugabe.  Mugabe has got the same mindset that drove Ian Smith and the other snooty white rulers of Rhodesia. This is what we disagree on. It is not whether or not the British like us or not. When people come here talking about how the British do not like Zimbabwe I take it they have nothing better to do with their time since no one is under the illusion that the British government was elected to put our interest before theirs.
At a time I thought you were just reading a document sent to you from No 10 Downing Street.

Unfortunately, you have gone way too far in swallowing the propaganda and lies that trying to correct them would not make any sense.

So, feel free to believe the lies and propaganda you just re-read. Enjoy.

You are trying to sanitize the industry in a thread that still has less than 100 views, when hostgator is already hosting over 2.5 million domains, hostmonster over 800,000 and they are taking orders daily and increasing in staff strenght. The question is where should you properly sanitize the industry?

Why don't you defend the fact that you have over 600 domains on the server that your website is hosted on even when you do not have root access to the server?

I think I know what the problem is here, you have never controlled a web hosting server directly so you may be unaware of the fact that there is a feature that allows you to state the actual offering and the advertised offering.

Nope. I read Chemical Engineering. Worked as a process engineer and project engineer in the oil and gas before calling it quits with paid employment due to the hypocrisy and sycophancy in the work place.

I am a realist and talk about what I understand hence my position on shares that I correctly labeled kalo kalo when people where rushing it. I was a chronic gambler in the university and gambled so well that people would come from other universities to provide funds just for me to gamble for them and I rarely disappointed them.

So, I know for a fact what gambling means though I quit gambling the day I left the university.

And it is the same thing with life generally, we could choose to allow sentiments guide how we think or how we see things but in the final analysis the facts of anything have little or nothing to do with sentiments.

My position - Both sides are guilty. Pointing fingers will not sort out the issue. It makes sense, but given your level of understanding, you inability to understand irony, hypocrisy and side taking mentality, you will not see it.
Seems you type as your thought process dictates. When you cannot correctly make meaningful sentences how do you expect people to understand the nonsense you put down?

You are guilty, have always been guilty and will always remain guilty because your thought process is faulty.

What manner of a human being will claim that all sides are guilty or that everyone is wrong in a debate? Is this not madness?

Afam & Dual Core,

I like the fact that this argument here has at least added to my Google analytics page views.

However, I dont really see where all your views are heading to. You are trying to offer me an unsolicited advise. I would rather that you keep these views and use it to run your businesses

In trying to setup our webhosting firm our innate desire was and is to provide world class web hosting as is available even with the biggest names. Hence we have structured ourselves as providers within our locality (Naija) but targeted at the global market place.

Check out all web hosting stuff by naijarians. There is never a global perspective to anything they are doing. Yet these are the guys trying to teach me how to run a successful web hosting firm. Yet they are even afraid to take hosting orders from someone in Niger Republic

I would rather learn from hostgator, host monster and other world top hosting providers . So lets be clear on that guys

And Let me inform you guys ahead too. Our next project in the near future is to come up with a payment solution locally designed but with a world class perspective. We have started collating our datas, so when we come up, you sholud also come and tell us that what we are doing does not exist.

Point is if you dont have or cant offer what others have, ask them how.

Let me also say this. I may not be a very good techie guy. But I know how to find out needs and meet them.

Clear?
You may call this unsolicited advice but I see it as a way of educating the prospective clients and your humble self because the industry has been messed up by people like you who misinform the public and call it marketing.

I host sites for multinationals some of them have been on for more than 4 or 5 years. And the reason they are still there is because I don't misinform people and I provide very reliable web hosting.

It might interest you to know that some of the popular web hosting companies even in the US use my article on "Understanding web hosting" on their websites to justify the realistic web hosting plans they have as against the fraud being carried out by those who fizzle out of business in no time.

So, what I am doing is trying to sanitize the industry by exposing lies that you call marketing. Hope we are clear now.

Your IP address is 74.86.208.186.
At the moment there are 686 websites hosted on the same server where your account has been kept(these sites are not yours)! This is the same server you want to offer unlimited offers on, right? And this is the same server a hundred of the 686 sites on that server may be offering unlimited hosting to their client for right? My final words for you, get real brother! We've already lost too many good domains to Error 404 and parked pages.
Tell him abeg, me I don tire. And when you want to guide them properly they see you are jealous.

What exactly have you proved or disproved? Erm, I have seen this before you know. Meaningless phrases of superiority and demolishing arguments with the price of tea in china. Jeez. Read back your own post sometimes.

A simple point you missed from the onset, appears to have been seen by a few, I guess this usual attempt of bickering, talking more irrelevant issues and trying to have the last say is just old habit that never die. smiley Be my guest.

Try the definition of Irony, it keeps eluding you from time to time. smiley
Your position - everyone is wrong (because you were proven wrong)

My position - everyone cannot be wrong in any debate because it does not make any sense.

You see why your posts are becoming irrelevant by the day as they are largely ignored these days by serious people. I warned you that you would self destruct when you embarked on this venture.

Interesting to see that the some post have been exposed for they are.

There really isn't much to add from where I stand. The simple point I made all along appears to have been taken up by those who are not biased and not forever taking sides or throwing immature comments so as to move away from the issue at hand. Job done.

smiley

See you all at the next Israel/Palestine thread.

For someone that is desperately trying to prove that everyone is wrong just because he was proven wrong to be writing this beats my imagination silly.

Of course, even armed robbers have supporters so having people like you support each other even when writing nonsense is not new.

Everyone cannot be wrong in any debate - get this fact straight, right it down, memorize it and even take it to the bank if you like.
