ProgrammingSoftware Platform Migration Isn't Easy by africanboy(op): 4:07pm On Mar 16, 2006
Technology Migration

A thread on this forum I started brought about a lot of specialists together all *agitating* (pardon me if I used the wrong word) for people to migrate to their platform. Same with a lot of poeple I meet on th Streets.

**leave VB, come to Java**
**forget ASP, PHP is the future**
**why are you still using VB, switch to .NET**

and so many similar statements, but one thing most of them never mention or discuss is the fact that it takes a lot for people who have spent years in a technology to migrate to another. Can you imagine telling a VB programmer since 1999 to wake up in 2006 and start all over with java. Its not that simple, is it?

I can switch to some programs easiliy, maybe not Java, but a lot of people find it extrememly difficult. using a technology is not just typing codes, it is a culture,
CultureRe: What Does 'Iyawo' Mean? by africanboy(m): 4:00pm On Mar 16, 2006
there is a folktale behind the word IYAWO. let me try to remember,

A man travelled to a town "IWO" and spent some years there. He found a beautiful lady and came back with her to his town. People asked him who she was and he replid "Ere iya ti mo lo je ni Iwo" (meaning: the {gift} of the suffering i had in Iwo".

She was promptly named - Iya Iwo (meaning: the suffering of Iwo)

shortened, it became, Iyawo.

Hope I helped!

The consolidation of banks saw 14 failed banks, meaning an influx of people back into the unemployment sector, which was saturated before?

Now these same banks are competiting for recruitment. Isnt it obvious that the same people who were set back into the publci will be ones re-applying again? Or are the banks sayings "those people are not good enough. we want fresh blood" *africanboy thinks they are vampires*

Also, UBA Group are recruiting OND/NCE, why not HND? Is it a public ruse to make us think they are not against polytechnics?

No beef, just thinking,

The initial thoughts exactly. I mean, other quiver do their best to copy office, else why would open office include an office assistant? Many programs aim to build interfaces like office.

ComputersRe: Windows XP Media Center Edition by africanboy(op): 12:30am On Mar 11, 2006
I intend using a P4, 60gb HDD, 512MB RAM, but I want it designed for Entertainment only. Not programming, not office work, just entertainment - tv, movies, audio, games - preferably without the lag load of win XP, u just cant spend five minutes or more waiting for xp to load.

also imagine watching Tv using a Start Menu. horribly inconvinient dont u think.

d reason i want the xp media center is so that the system comes on 2minutes max on push of power button and ready to entertain.

Scan Your Doodle and Flash Your Friends

Picture this: you are in a meeting, bored out of your mind. So you doodle on your note pad, pretending to take notes. Suddenly, you realize you might have created the world's greatest doodle and you need to share it with your equally bored coworker on the other side of the table. Pull out your LighTalk; problem solved.

Dial "R" for Retro

Yeah, we know all about bluetooth headsets for cell phones, but forget that stuff! We have here the latest development in cell phone technology and it's a big hunk of beautiful plastic. An accessory for your phone that you can really grab onto. Something with heft and that good-old-American solid construction feel - like a 1972 Cadillac.

Levitation Is No Longer The Sole Domain Of Yogis Or Magicians!

These electromagnetic suspended globes are actually high-tech instruments. A magnetic field sensor permanently measures the height at which the globes are suspended. This sensor feeds that data into a micro computer in the base of the unit. This computer than calibrates the electronic magnets at the top of the frame based on the distance between the globes and the top magnet to keep the globes correctly positioned. All in the blink of an eye! So not only do these look great on your desktop levitating in thin air, they are also technology marvels!

Many ancient fighting disciplines have a version of, what’s lovingly called, The Circle of Death. It varies from martial art to martial art, but normally it involves a centering of energy or an arranging of personal fighting space. This is exactly the concept behind the Wolf Claw II. A circle of all the important FPS keys surrounds your left hand in a unique configuration. Arranging your fighting space, and centering your FPS energy. The keys are made to be silent, adding a little verisimilitude to any stealth gaming operation.

The Wolf Claw II also features two revolutionary advancements. First, is the vertical space bar. It falls directly under your left thumb, which lets you keep your thumb in its natural position. Second, is the K-Lock key. Many online FPS games use the K key as a press-to-talk button. Well, now you can just kit the K-Lock, and talk all you want. Add two USB ports, some internet hot keys, and you have perhaps the greatest FPS keyboard ever designed. Time to get fragging!
