Please we would appreciate any information on passport drop off for visa stamping. We sent one of our mentee to drop off her passport at the VFS office in Abuja, she was told at VFS office to schedule appointment online. The earliest date she got was June 1. She is supposed to drop off the passport within 30 days (June 1 is outside the 30days). Can she use courier to send the passport? If so, which courier service. Any information will be appreciated. |

DejiiiiB:Contact your school and request for proof of enrollment letter. Send it to IRCC with a note informing them that you commenced the study online while awaiting a decision on your study visa application. |
CAD2019:If she stated in her study permit application that she's made the tuition payment then she needs to show it. If she did not state that in the application, then she need to go back with a her or her sponsor's bank statement showing the availability of the fund to pay tuition. Alternatively, she could delay going back to the Immigration post, pay the tuition, obtain proof of payment and then take it to the Immigration post. |
If you fail to provide updated information about the death of the person who's inviting you, you'll be withholding information material to your application. The consequences would be severe even if it was discovered after you visa is issued. Pls do send a webform to update the information. Divinefavrite: |
The House of Commons report of its study on IRCC is out. Happy to share that the Committee substantially accepted our recommendations to address the discriminatory treatment of study visa applications from Nigeria: 1. Removing IELTS requirement for study permit application from Nigerian 2. Expanding the Student Direct Stream (SDS) program to include Nigeria or harmonizing the financial requirement under the Nigerian Student Express with the requirement under the SDS 3. Automatic 3rd party auditing of visa offices with high visa refusal rates etc. You can read the report here: https://www.ourcommons.ca/Content/Committee/441/CIMM/Reports/RP11800727/cimmrp08/cimmrp08-e.pdf?fbclid=IwAR3QCnOaCGGYB5zjMSjPiODGphJWYRvNIRyBhLf-9zWtQQ6uqcB2ONf2e50 |

You want to know the REAL reason why many Canadian study visa applications from Nigeria (about 88%) are refused by IRCC? Listen to this Canadian immigration podcast. It's revealing: https://soundcloud.com/borderlinespodcast/67-is-ircc-systemically-biased-against-people-from-africa-with-gideon-christian?utm_source=clipboard&utm_medium=text&utm_campaign=social_sharing |
BEWARE: Don't fall for any fraudulent immigration consultant. Before you hire any, check the database of registered Canadian immigration consultants on the link below, if you don't find their names there, and they are not lawyers or paralegals in Canada, then you may become a victim of fraud: https://college-ic.ca/protecting-the-public/find-an-immigration-consultant |

teedarling:It's not a good idea to create an EE profile when applying for a TRV. It will hurt your TRV. If you're in doubt read the case in the link below: https://canlii.ca/t/hxkbh |
mariam055:That amount is unreasonable and high. A Canadian immigration lawyer would charge half of that amount for a study visa application. |
wd2454418:Thank you. It was only an offer to assist. He is NOT obligated to accept it. https://twitter.com/AfriScholars1?s=09 |
ritzzybaron:You should discuss this with the lawyer who handled your JR. The fact that the JR was settled out of court is not a guarantee that the application will be approved on reconsideration. So you should discuss any change your making with your lawyer. |
Shokoloko:Can you send your contact phone number to asi.scholars@gmail.com. We can help provide him with INFORMATION on accomodation. |
patocypher:Before responding, contact your agent to get details as to why the payment was reversed. This is a very serious issue. The procedural fairness letter that you posted here (though not legible), is the first step in a process that may result in 5yrs ban from entry into Canada if you fail to properly address the issue. The issue here is not your willingness to pay the money now but rather why the payment was reversed resulting in debit to The Crown. |

The Canadian govt, working with the Ontario govt. is considering imposing a temporary restriction on arrival of international students in Ontario. If you’re an international student heading to a school in Ontario, you may need to hurry your arrival date before this plan crystalize. |

Rootiab:Can you provide clear details of what really happened. You said "He paid the fees", but wants you to pay the Naira into the Nigerian account that is not in his name. Has the fees he paid on your behalf in Canada been reversed, or do you have problem with paying money into an account in Nigerian that is not in his name? |
Over 80% of Canada study permit applications from Nigeria are refused. That is more than 8 out of every 10 applications. So, pls when applying, put your best foot forward, and keep your expectation mild. Best Wishes. |
Uzomachukwu:Used “we” because the handle belongs to a Canadian NGO (not an individual). We do have experts in this field including pro bono Canadian immigration lawyers who provide free immigration information to prospective Canadian students from Nigeria. We have dealt with multiple cases similar to the case of the individual making the inquiry here. Now that you know who “we” are, the point “we” are trying to make is that it is insulting to refer to other’s view as garbage (as @RELAN2446 did) just because it differs from your lay view. This is a public forum, people should be able to contribute to issues here without people like you disparaging their views. The fact that the information we provided differs from your does not make yours right and ours “misleading”. If you want to know more about the case "we" referred to pls watch our Webinar video on the link below and hear from the very immigration lawyer that handled the case. You may want to jump to the 51.10 minutes of the video. < https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LqUT5qR-VaM>. |
RELAN2446:Mr. @Uzomachukwu and Mr. @RELAN2446, we are very much aware of a very recent case where an applicant made this mistake, and their lawyer immediately contacted the Nairobi Visa Office to correct the mistake. They still sent a procedural fairness letter to the applicant and banned the applicant. It took an application to Federal Court in Canada to have the ban reversed. The cost was over $3k. There has been increasing attempt by the VO to use this mistake to ban applicants. So, you can go ahead with your insults and disparaging remarks. Nobody is obligated to take any suggestion here. But please learn to treat other views with some measure of respect. |
Mobi22:Yes. The other way is to wait for a s.40 procedural fairness letter from IRCC, followed by a 5yrs ban. |
