Christianity EtcRe: Is Africa Cursed Spiritually? by afrobeat: 3:25pm On Apr 05, 2006
WesleyanA:
I don't think Africa is cursed. We're developing, that's just it. IIt's a slow process and can take several generations.

Africa in the past (hundreds of years ago) used to be the most prosperous continent and most civillized, then we fell (through war and other gabage I think). We'll rise again, but it'll take time.
The thing I always find funny about Africans is our short sightedness. We always forget that in the past, our nations were great and prosperous. I mean Mali is argualbly the site where the first university in the world was built. Timbuktu had millions of volumes of books and scholars from all over the world used to come and study in Mali. But we never remember those stuff. All we can remember is colonialism until now. I think it is a bad case of inferiority complex.
Even if we were cursed God is a forgiving God and if we are repentant there is no reason why he will not forgive us.
If we are cursed then I wonder what type of predicament the Natives in North America are in. Theirs must be a double curse because the things they suffer are even worse than us.

laura:
As a citizen of the most powerful country in the world i know our prosper has come from the hardwork of slaves and subjugation of millions around the world who work for pennies so my country can make trillions. Africa has been raped of its valuable resources by the Global North for hundreds of years. The plight of Africa can be directly linked to the affects of globalization.
Point.

oooh come on you guys, i mean give me a break, ok
if jenny was doing something right this wouldnt have happen
and why ya'lll blaming all this on agelina, talk about brad
anglina is not a home recker, so leave my girl alone, don't hate !!!!!grin grin grin cheesy
well Brad probabbly had his eye on angelina all the time and no amount of "doing something right" would have kept him from cheating on his wife.
So I also blame Brad as well. In fact I have divided the blame into 100% for Brad and 100% for Angelina
FashionRe: Why Are Our Ladies Not Dressing Decently? by afrobeat: 8:18pm On Mar 31, 2006
Longesson:
Our ladies are dressing comfortably. We can't answer the question "why are they dressing indecently" for as long as we don't have a common agreement/definition of what decent or indecent dressing is. DO WE?

That is Seun's point, which I agree with wholeheartedly "Decent dressing is a matter of interpretation" and I think we should leave it as that.

In some families in Nigeria and all over, even wearing any type of trousers by a woman is considered indecent, no matter how baggy it is.

The mantra of this generation is "As long as it is comfortable for you, O GA GOES!!!" And I think that makes more sense than us spending precious time that can be spent or more prouctive activities arguing what is decent dressing and what isn't,
I agree, the definition of decent is so subjective that we cannot debate on what decent dressing if until we can have an agreement on what decent means

I think those murders occur in the ghettos, far from where visitors roam. Same thing with Mexico where Americans visit quite frequently. But what part of Nigeria would you consider safe for tourists?
Although Lagos is chaotic and so are some other states in Nigeria but I am sure that there are states in Naija that are safe for tourists like Calabar.
And if tourists in Nigeria suffer crimes, I know that majority of it is most likely robbing and not murders.
I can't find the stats right now but I won't be surprised if a Caribbean country has more tourist murders than Nigeria http://www.cdnn.info/news/travel/t051013.html

The reason why I said you should check out these countries (Uzbekistan, Kyrgyztan, Mongolia, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Laos, Nepal, ) is because you said this If we were a progressive continent, a matrix of solid R&grin like Asia, we won't get this kind of demeaning portrayal which implied that all of Asia was a matrix of solid R&grin. My point there was that not all of Asia is a Matrix of Solid R&grin. In the same way not all of Africa is a matrix of disaster; a point which you proved when you said that SA is technologically advanced. However there are some good things that come out of our country but the western media hardly ever carries it, but as soon as something bad happens then it is all over the western news

You can choose to see things the way you want, just as I choose to see it the way I want. There is no yes or no answer here.
Don't you think this is a cop-out.

This is a discussion where everybody brings their own input and backs it up with evidence. If your point is more logical then I will accept it, if mine is more logical then you should at least try to accept it. I don't think that as people we should be choosing to see things anyway we wish even if there are other points that are more logical than ours.

I don't think so

Domenic Ianiero, 59, and his wife Nancy, 55, were found with their throats slashed in their hotel room at a luxury resort near Playa del Carmen on Feb. 20.

The couple, from Woodbridge, Ont., were in Mexico along with several family members for their daughter's wedding.

Nairaland GeneralRe: Why Nigerian Videos Or Cds Always Bootleg? by afrobeat: 10:03pm On Mar 30, 2006
idiot:
It's really sad. . shows how nigerians hog their money, they just get it and can't think about using it to improve anything.
In that respect i wonder about us sometimes. We really should use our money more wisely.

On the other hand, the Nigerian people keep on buying bootleg CDs. Why don't we buy the originals. You can go to the Jazzhole, Numetro e.t.c and other places to buy the original but we don't do that we would rather wind down the window of our cars and buy a pirated copy.

The other reason why I believe there are so many pirated copies is because in my opinion PMAN is not being creative enough. Why don't they do it the way malta guiness and indomie sell their products on the road. Get people who are dressed in uniform to sell the original products. In addition my sister believes that another way to combat piracy is for the musicians to pirate their own records. Why? because who is going to but a CD for 2500 naira. This is too expensive for the average person. These musicians need to make two types of CDs: the ones that they will sell in upscale stores and the ones that can be sold on the road. They should pirate their own Cds and sell them for less than what the people on the road are selling them for. In that way it will no longer be cheaper for the people pirating the Cds to do that because the musicians Cds will be cheaper.

I think thats how Nigerians are in general. I mean if we have the audacity to booo Usher off the stage when he came to Naija that tells you something about our personality.

On another note, when RMD came to my secondary school he was almost mugged. He had to leave immediately.

Plus if I ever see 2face, I will faint , right after I propose to him sha

TV/MoviesRe: Who Would Vouch Or Support Brad And Jenny Back Together. by afrobeat: 9:23pm On Mar 30, 2006
Brad is a loser: he is engaged to the how many times married and divorced angelina
who french kisses her brother on oscar night
who loves knives and ( i heard ) has slahed her wrists before
whose father announced on national T.V. ( entertainment tonight) that his daughter (angelina) is loco

Jen is the winner because she is no longer with the loser formerly known as Brad Pitt

I have no idea why Brad and Angelina actually think their relationship is going to work. A man who leaves his wife for the other woman is probably going to leave the other woman for another woman soon and very soon

By the way my opinion is that I agree with hot-angel and when you pass the threshold of your biggest project then start a new thread and tell us what you have done for Nigeria.

And according to dictionary.com

a Whistle Blower is:

An employee who has inside knowledge of illegal activities occurring within his or her organization and reports these to the public.

So what organisation's wrong doing have you revealed to us on this board? What have you said or pointed out that has not been said before. When you are able to show us the hiding place of one of the governor's stolen money then maybe you can call yourself a whistle -blower

Once again my opinion is that I agree with hot-angel when she says: Ranting here isn't going to help anything. Trust me. If you are going to talk then you better do as well.
