Kimbeast: I agree with most of your post.
I get the quality based argument but I think it underrates what James Milner actually did. Versatility shouldn't only be about being world class in multiple roles, it’s also about credibly performing across a wide range of positions for top teams over many seasons.
Managers trusted him in those multiple roles because he could execute the job at a high tactical level especially in an era more specialized, physically demanding where positional discipline is ruthless and mistakes get punished instantly. Obviously not as talented or world class as Guillet and others but the amount of positions he played in and did well in should put up him up there. Oh no, i agree he is up there. Just a level bellow Gullit for me. Even Luis Enrique shades it. He is basically Milner if you increase the rating sliders from 60 to 75. |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Chelsea Fan Thread: Club World Cup Champions 2025-2029 by afrodoc(m): 2:33pm On Feb 25 |
Kimbeast: I will give you gullit but definitely not Luis Enrique. Don't think he played in defense. Anyways I was actually trying to show how versatile Milner has been. Luis Enrique played at RB and RWB a few times. I believe it was under LVG. |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Chelsea Fan Thread: Club World Cup Champions 2025-2029 by afrodoc(m): 2:29pm On Feb 25 |
Kimbeast: I dare you to name a more versatile player than Milner. Just competent in all those positions. Versatility should be graded according to the actual quality. Ruud Gullit played 3 positions at world class and a few others at elite level. Luis Enrique played 3 positions at elite level and was good in a few others. Matthaus and Lahm were world class at 3 positions. Di Stefano was GOAT level in about 4-5 positions. John Charles was a world class CF and CB. Milner's versatility and longevity are not in doubt though. The caveats are that his versatility was not with top quality and his longevity in actual minutes played is a little less impressive. Ruud Gullit is the most versatile player of the modern era. 6'3 tall, strong as an ox, fast as a horse, supreme shooting and passing, aerial dominance, tackling, game IQ. Di Stefano might have a claim since he got to GOAT level playing about 4-5 positions |

Ellexy: Not just the FA, it will be interesting to see if teams will adopt this style during the upcoming World Cup. It is mainly in England that this has been happening. I am not seeing much of it when i watch other leagues. so i don't expect the World Cup to be significantly affected. It is crap football and whether it is FA, EUFA, FIFA, IFAB or whoever has to step in. You can't be manhandling the keeper like that at set pieces. I am not even blaming the teams doing it but the match officials that are allowing it. |

GloriousGbola: Yes, because as a person in a corporate environment she is a full adult
This is just a small girl who does not know any better and her experience in the public space is now a lesson to all that you cannot just post anything
This is kind of what happened when oj berated kayode in front of the girls and after the dust had died down told all of us boys you can NEVER write anything of an insulting nature unless you are prepared to stand by it.
An unexposed bush girl does not understand the implication of what she did. A person in corporate where they hang you by the email knows the implication of documented unverified statements whether they are made in anger or passion or whatever. If she is not a minor, she should pay the price. University rules and regulations and the law in general do not recognise terms like bush girl and small girl otherwise students will never be expelled for anything in university. Ignorance is not an excuse in this case either. If her brain cells are not charged up enough to know that making false rape allegations is wrong, then university is not the place for her, and they will be doing her a favour by expelling her. |

Like the cases of banger boys - what this will come to is a lesson to everyone to think very carefully before you press send ; avoid making any posts in anger ; do not say anything that cannot be proven It actually is not. What she did is worse than cheating in an exam and had she done it to a colleague at a firm she would most likely have been sacked. |

Bimmarlykay: That should be the POV.
He wan show them like a typical motorist, unfortunately for him, keke get round pipe construction.😁
My greatest surprise was how Traffic wardens,Police, Agbero... immediately started blaming the keke guy saying "the car dey correct lane".
Your last statement is very true, the keke accepted fault due to pressure but shey the money dey?
In all said, I'll still blame the Camry guy, you can't roll in daa mud with a Pigg to correct a pigg.
If na Dangote trailer dey him front, won't he engage brake. If you merge into a major road and a car behind you rams into your back the only way you can prove you are not at fault is if you can prove the car was going above speed limit. You are meant to slow down/stop and merge only when absolutely safe not enter the road and expect those cars already there to slow down for you. |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by afrodoc(m): 1:40pm On Nov 10, 2025 |
Bimmarlykay: A Camry 2001 hit a keke from behind, the bar at the rear of the keke caused minor damage to the bumper of the car. The driver came out and started holding the keke driver, although the keke entered the express in their normal reckless style and the traffic was slow.
Who'd be at fault, and how would this situation be settled?
Right of way supersedes the hitting from the back issue. If the Keke made an illegal lane change into the front of the car, especially if it merged from a side road into the major road and jumped in front of the car, it is at fault. You should only merge when it is absolutely safe to do so, and not expect the cars already on the major road to slow down for you. |

patrickmuf: That issue of intensity has been a persistent problem for years now. I don't know whether our players do not watch other teams or if they just can't be bothered to run their socks off...I watch Liverpool play with intensity for 90 mins against Madrid and that's why they won. If we play we the required intensity, we have enough quality to beat this injury ravaged Spurs team.
The second point you highlighted is also valid and that's why I was angry last weekend. Some players naturally have intensity while some do not. What you are seeing is the effect of training players with natural low intensity to play high intensity. No matter how much you train them, even if they start playing with high intensity they will occasionally revert to factory setting. The solution is to get our player ID right and buy players who have natural tendency to play high intensity football. Things are a bit better now not because of any magical training regimen but because we are buying more high intensity players. You can’t buy Juan Mata and expect Mbeumo intensity. |
