There is probably an informal agreement on guaranteed playing time at Utrecht. The sell-on clause also means that if he ever becomes a star there we will be in a prime position to either buy him back OR at least make some more money off it.

Utrecht being ETH's former club and ETH sharing agents with Iqbal makes me believe that there were some detailed discussions along the lines i just mentioned. Otherwise, we are back to the deal not making any sense.

The only issue is if ETH had sent him on loan last season we probably might have gotten up to 5m or even more for him. Instead he just kept him on the bench for months.

Remember I said that those youth players will cannibalise one another. There are just too many of them playing similar or the same positions.

If one accepts that Mainoo and Mejbri both have more natural talent than Iqbal then there isn’t just enough team slots for them to develop.

Charlie Savage will also be offloaded. Mainoo will remain. Mejbri is the one that is uncertain for now. He too is getting to make or mar time.

Next season Gore and Hansen-Aaroen will be on the clock. Probably a loan and then by 2024 decision time will be close.

I’m all up for this . I know too many comfortable people who don’t pay tax . So it irks me anytime anybody mentions paying more tax when I know full well it’s those of us that are already paying that will be burdened with more tax while those not paying still won’t pay .
