Leyqute:If you CR7 could learn to improve his decision making, then there is still hope for his protege. CR7 must have cost Ruud at least 10 goals a season with his ridiculous step overs. |
Even our buildup play from the back is an eye sore. A player will get the ball and put boot on top like say he know wetin he dey do, only to pass it hurriedly to his teammate when pressed, who then passes it to Onana who hoofs it forward towards Hojlund, who promptly losses the ball. Apollo causing buildup play. |
Ellexy:You say it is not due to a structureless team but then you blame the coaches. If training sessions are bad, and the coach can't implement his tactics, and there are no patterns of play, that is the very definition of a structureless team. Can you name 4 players in this squad who are currently playing at the best of their abilities? |
maik99:He is our academy product. We signed him at 16 and we trained him and played him for 2 years in our academy. According to accepted official convention he is our academy product. The FA and UEFA accept he is our academy product. P.S The Manchester United Academy ranges from Under 9s to Under-18s. He played 2 full seasons there and helped us win the FA Youth Cup. |
maik99:Most outstanding youth level players have base level of quality. Many do not achieve their level because of injuries, poor football education, or loss of focus not because of lack of base quality. CR7 was so frustrating at 19-20 that Ruud wanted to beat him. One of my friends back then in 2005 wanted us to sell him and his 5 goals in 30 plus games because of his silly mistake-prone play. Garnacho has 12 goals in 62 league games at age 20. At this same age CR7 had 12 goals in 89 games Thank God that we didn’t sell CR7 when my friend wanted him to. You can’t just look at a 19-20 yr old with excellent youth performances and give up on him quickly like that especially when he is playing in a messed up structureless team. |
maik99:At Garnacho's age Harry Kane was scoring 2 goals in 13 games in the Championship, Cristiano Ronaldo had 5 goals in 33 league games at Manchester United, and Didier Drogba had not yet played a single professional game in his life. It is still unclear what Garnacho's level would be, but it is definitely still too early to rule him out. |
maik99:Oh ok. I am not on most social media. My reference points are here and RedCafe. |
Leyqute:Yeah. For this move Greenwood is passing the ball 9 times out 10. He would pass it and make an off the ball run hoping to get the ball back later. Garnacho's decision making is faulty, but another problem is that he does not have a high technical base. Even if he had tried to give the pass 5 out of 10 times it would have been intercepted. These are problems that could have been ironed out if he had been coming from the bench 1-2 years ago and learning the ropes. Our squad is full of players like him who make straight forward passes seem like Nuclear Physics. Those boys dey abort between 5 to 10 potential counterattacks per game just on poor passing alone. |
I remember how people used to attack Greenwood every match day for being selfish. We are sometimes excessively harsh on some of our young players while giving the more experienced ones a pass. The only reason Garnacho has been overplayed beyond his ability is that the senior players like 80m Antony, 80m Sancho and club poster boy Rashy who were meant to be playing have been flopping. The guy missed out on 2 years of education and slow introduction because the coach could not rely on over 200m worth of senior talent. Garnacho did not cost ETH his job. Antony did. Mount did. Rashford (the one people were claiming was Mbappe's level) did. Bruno (aka KDB's oga) did. The same way people are weekly calling out for Amass to start because the senior players in his position can't stay fit to save their lives. When Salah, Palmer, and Saka start dribbling Amass now we will hear that he is not good enough and overhyped |
maik99:Greenwood was hyped more than Garnacho, and rightly so. They are not the same level of talent. |
maik99: ![]() |
nitrogen:Yes of course he will have to assess them first. Not like we can buy players now sef. ETH wasted lots of money, but he wasn't alone. Mumunatus that should have taken wiser decisions failed at their duty. INEOS should have sent him away around the time Murtough and the rest left. |
nitrogen:The team was better organized, and the players seemed to understand their duties better, and of course they worked harder. When it came to things that require individual IQ like choice of who to pass to and when to pass, or individual skill like passing technique/accuracy or shooting ability, they struggled. Some of these players are just not good enough. I hope INEOS gets its act together and gets the coach some quality additions. |
nitrogen:It is not just about creating chances. What about composed pattern of play and fluidity. What about composed individual touch, ball control, passing and decision making. A striker won't change those things significantly. |
Amorin get serious work to do. |
patrickmuf:Ugarte has committed 4-5 fouls since his yellow card. No be everything be agenda. |
Just remove Ugarte and bring Fitzgerald on. |
Oasis007:Full of average players. Apart from maybe Mazraoui, de Ligt, Martinez, none of them should be starting for a team interested in top 4. |
CapitalCee:When i raised concerns here about his ability on the ball people went to watch his pass compilation videos. I really hope that his OG Amorin can come and unlock him, if not na long thing. |
Leyqute:Fitzgerald just accelerated and skipped past a couple of his seniors. |
Leyqute:It is difficult to predict cos i have not really seen him play but you might be right. Fitzgerald got on the bench the other day and he is over a year younger. That midfield has always been a very competitive position for our youth players, so Kone has to battle it out with Mainoo, Gore, Collyer, Fitzgerald, Tyler Fletcher, Devaney etc. We should not just assume that because he came in with hype, he will supersede our own academy products. |
Oasis007:He was a 2nd half sub in the Under-21 game yesterday. The match was not televised so it is not easy to assess but i think the plan was for him to be slowly integrated into the Under-21 squad this season and then reassessed next pre-season. With the new coach though, things might be different. |
ChristineC:Academy players do not cost that much. Wheatley has been here for years and cost close to nothing. Biancheri came here 18 months ago but didn't cost much. Even Obi Martin is relatively cheap compared to a senior transfer. The risk is relatively low, and the potential benefit is high. I suspect Wheatley will be on loan by January while Biancheri and Obi Martin rotate Under-21 and senior team bench between themselves. Healthy competition is good and if even only 1 of them makes it here we might be saving 50m pounds or more. The ones that do not make it might fetch us 10m pounds or more of pure profit for FFP rules. |
Leyqute:Yeah they should. Funny thing was the ball wasn’t even going in, it was going to miss the far post but he didn’t know that from his angle. He should calm down. He just got here. Ibragimov has been here. 😀 |
Leyqute:Exactly. |
ChristineC:Real Madrid no dey too consider these things. Load your team with talent and let them fight it out. And football is a large squad game these days. The boy is still 16 so we are talking about a 3 to 4 years project. He looks good so far sha. I think he will be moved to Under-21 in the new year. if Wheatley goes on loan In January, I see a situation whereby Obi Martin starts making the 1st team bench in the 2nd half of the season. |
This Rutter is a disgrace. |
ChristineC:Hehehe. They have scored 118 goals in their last 32 league games. Conceding 32 goals. Winning 28. Drawing 2. Losing 2. The coach is Hansi Flick lite. If he never see opponents' blood him mind no dey touch ground. They have scored 31 goals in their last 5 games, conceding 7. |
8-0. Scanlon hattrick. |
7-0. Ibragimov hattrick. |
6-0. Ibragimov. Obi Martin assist. The guy dey vex for Ibragimov for tapping the ball in. He should calm down. We don't know you like that. |
