Bali is a must for residents in Australia… it’s in my plans for next year.

I’m definitely going to Queensland this year or next… Looks like Gold Coast is the only reasonable place in Australia.
Traffic choke when I visited Melbourne, made me prefer my boring Adelaide.

Anyone with Hawaii,Brazil, Seychelles and Carribeans/Island countries experience?

These are places I’m really keen to go.
Queensland has a few good options. Gold Coast is good. Sunshine Coast is probably as good but a little quieter. Whitsundays might be the best. Even Cairns is not bad.

I lived in the Caribbean (though almost a decade ago) so I can give an opinion on that. It is hard to go wrong with most of the islands. DR is popular because it is bigger than the others and has a well developed hire-purchase culture. Depending on what you want Turks and Caicos, Barbados, Bahamas, St Kitts, Cayman Islands, Aruba etc. Trinidad or Jamaica are options during carnival season but come with increased security risk.

Anywhere you go, especially in the Caribbean and South America you have to be extra careful cos they have well developed tourist crime culture. This is another reason why group trips are the best.

Go to Bali or Thailand.

Bali is very cheap but Aussies don nearly spoil the market there.

Thailand is cheap too but you must check the chassis number and expiry date of any package you buy there.

If you are not purchasing anything there are some nice places within Australia (NE Queensland).

DR might still be possible at that price if you remove hotel and flight. And you might be lucky to buy packages on credit there.

Just don’t go near Colombia. Things can rapidly go south over there. In a really bad way.

I think rotation between u18 and u21 seems to be affecting both teams as they cannot have balanced team most times. Even the u23 teams also.
A bit, but the major problem was that we didn't have enough wingers at both Under-18 and Under-21 level due to injuries mainly. Garnacho that should have been there was in the senior team and his counterpart Mather was injured for a significant part of last season while Mejia has been injured for most of the past 4 years. The rated guy we got from Liverpool Ethan Ennis has been injured for 1 year now and Malachi Sharpe that should be one of the 2nd year scholar wingers has been injured for 2 years.

The scoreline is wild but this is one of the few times the coach has played a balanced attacking lineup. Most times he plays AMs on the wings and therefore we have no pace so we just pass, pass, pass without any penetration but today Williams and Mejia on the wings have some pace, Shoretire and Hansen-Aaroen played in midfield rather than on the wings.

The GK was rarely threatened tho. But with Harrison we’d have a better chance to win.
He makes too many unforced errors. I have seen a few of his games. He makes too many mistakes passing out of the back even when he is not playing high risk like Harrison. It is like having the negatives of Harrison's game without the positives.

Hopefully this U18 group is well managed, both on and off the pitch. They have many talented players. Don’t want those talents to waste away.
I heard that Ethan Williams has started rodding them at Under-21 level as well. I think he had 3 goal contributions today. They had better send both him and Harrison back to the Under-18s for the Youth Cup game cos today's keeper no too dey reliable like that.

Afrodoc2 our u18 wing play is not bad. They’re pressing Stoke’s neck but can’t create chances.
Yeah. most of them play with intelligence which is why i posted last week that we might have a chance with the Youth Cup this season. The midfield is quite good and the defence looks solid for a change, but we will need Ethan Williams to play those Youth Cup matches though as he is the one who gives us the sort of creativity and penetration that Garnacho did when we won it the last time. After his heroics in week 1 he has been moved up to Under-21 but i suspect he will be recalled to the Under-18s for the Youth Cup matches. Hopefully Lacey can step up and grab the other wing position as the season progresses. Our weakness is at CF. I don't trust Wheatley or Musa.

One of my old man’s collections. I went visiting recently and saw this book I don’t know existed amongst his collections while growing up .

This is certainly going to be an interesting read . The author is one of the 3 majors (Nzeogwu, Ifeajuna and Ademoyega) that planned and executed the first coup in Nigeria .

It’s unfortunate they don’t teach history in our schools again. 😔
Very good book. My dad bought it for me back in the day. It is probably the most balanced account of the coup. It must still be somewhere in our library at home.

What was Lucio's work in Leverkusen that outweighed Boateng?

2002 Leverkusen which was their peak was known for the strength of their midfield and not the defense which conceded almost 30 goals in the CL that season

Boateng won a treble, won the world cup as the best defender in club and country . Was even named Bundesliga player of the year, The only Central defender to win it since Jurgen Kohler in 1997

Lucio who is mostly remembered for scoring own goals in key games for us, the only saving grace to his career was joining Mourinho community defence at Inter

Imagine. So a Bayern fan is telling us that even Boateng is better than Lucio. No wonder Lucio could not garner individual honours in his life. Professional carry along player.

No single UEFA team of the year. No World Cup all-star team. Practically every single website and body possible has Passarella either 1 or 2 in the list of the greatest South American central defenders of all time while Lucio is never anywhere to be found.

https://www.iffhs.com/about

Ifhss is never credible. Its a joke.

There's no way you tell me that players who spent most of their careers playing interhouse sports competitions in South America are better players than actual multiplr UCL winners, WC winners, Confederations Cup winners etc.

You can't tell me that Argentina league in 1990s was on par let alone tougher than Serie A in the mid 2000s, or that Argentina League in 1970 was on par with Bundesliga or Serie A in Lucios days.

Lucio went to and scored in UCL final with Leverkusen, and won UCL as part of a treble with Inter. In-between he won a couple of Bundesliga titles, a World Cup, and 2 Confederations cups....and that's who you want to compare with Passarella that *checks notes* won NOTHING whilst playing 5 full seasons in the same Europe that Lucio dominated so thoroughly?

Because he won 2 world cups? In an era where world cup had only 16 teams? And one of those World Cups was the hand of God World Cup?

Chilavert won that joke Ifhss playing for Velez Sarfield in Argentina in 1998 over Fabian Barthez who won the world cup as a starter, was the ligue1 keeper of the year, was the FIFA World Cup keeper of the year, and that's the award you want us to take serious cheesy

My Big Brother in Christ who I love very much...NO. hell fücking NO.
You are focused on team victories. I am focused on individual honours. Where are the INDIVIDUAL honours that Lucio won. Imagine you are in a team winning titles and you never get an individual honour?

Not only IFFHS. FIFA and World Soccer and also agree with me. Lucio was a bandwagoner. Despite winning all those TEAM titles he didn't make a single UEFA Team of the Year. He was the Boateng of his time. Lucio dominated NOTHING. When Terry, Nesta, Cannavaro, Puyol dem were packing Team of the Year appearances Lucio was nowhere to be found.

Comparing Lucio to Passarella is sacrilegious. Passarella was the best defender in the world at a time. Lucio was never the best defender either in South America or Europe. He actually never made team of the year.

The Dida you said was 2nd only to Buffon was sitting at home when Buffon, Cech, Casillas, and co were receiving INDIVIDUAL awards from UEFA, IFFHS and other bodies.

You chose 2 bandwagoners. No individual accolades but hiding behind team accolades won by others.
Guti has more champions league titles and more league titles than Lampard but everybody knows who the better player was.

European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by afrodoc2:

Let me start with Dida.

Doctor, none of those keepers you mentioned is on Dida's level. Are you kidding me? E be like say you dey wear your rose-tinted nostalgic glasses egbon. Chilavert to Dida?! Chilavert's whole shtick was that he was very shouty and used to play freekick. Well boo hoo, so did Rogerio Ceni. Even Vincent Enyeama dey play Penalty.

Dida won 2 UCL and was a Balon Dor nominee. Dida was only dragging accolades with Buffon during their era. Nobody else.

The Lucio to Pasarella comparison is even more straightforward
Just look at all the things Lucio won. Compare to Passarella winning Interhouse sports in Argentina and then come back to me.

Big bro, I no fit ever agree with you on these two things. I'm sorry.
You don't have to agree na. It is all opinion.

Let us start with Dida vs Chilavert.

Dida came 2nd once and 3rd once as IFFHS World Goalkeeper of the Year. Chilavert came 1st THREE times. Football historians and statisticians said he was the best keeper in the world three times but Dida never got that honour.

Dida never made the FIFA World Cup All-Star team. Chilavert did. It is only in team accolades that Dida has say. In terms individual accolades he has no mouth. Buffon, Cech, Kahn, Casillas were there during his time at AC Milan and they were better.

When football historians voted the best keepers of the whole 20th century (1901-2000) Chilavert placed No 6 and was the 1st South American keeper.
When the same football historians and statisticians voted for the best keepers only of the 1st decade of the 21th century (the era in which you said Dida was No 2 only to Buffon), Dida was No 6 behind Buffon, Casillas, Cech, VDS, Kahn.

Pasarella vs Lucio is even more straightforward.

Passarella was a World Cup winning captain. Widely regarded as possibly the best central defender in the world in the era between Beckenbauer and Baresi.

2nd highest scoring CB in football history.

IFFHS say he is on the South American All-time Team. Lucio is not there.

FIFA said he is one the 100 greatest footballers ever. World Soccer said he is one of the 100 greatest footballers ever.

Lucio? Well he has a bunch of Bundesliga Team of the Year accolades. He spent 11 years in Europe and didn't make a single UEFA team of the year.

So FIFA, World Soccer, IFFHS (Football historians and statisticians), and even Afrodoc1 to Afrodoc 1000 all rate Passarella higher than Lucio.

Our starting 11 should be able to keep the ball better against Wolves.

Onana, Martinez, Casemiro, Mount, Antony are all his signings.

The other players are not bad in possession safe for a few.

Riquelme and Fillol no suppose dey this list.
Dunga or Gilberto SIlva should replace him. I'm not even sure Zico should be there over a Ronaldinho.
Fillol over the Iconic Dida is a criminal offence. Lucio >> Pasarella
Who born Lucio papa well to be there instead of Pasarella? If you remove Beckenbaeur, Baresi, Maldini then the next name is probably Pasarella and Figueroa is not far behind.

For Goalkeeper Fillol, Dida, Taffarel, Chilavert, Gilmar etc. Choosing any of the others over Dida is not a crime. For instance Chilavert who played in the same generation as Dida but was a few years older was obviously a better keeper.

I don't think Ten Hag is ready to work with a DoF. He forced Rangnick out because he wanted full control, appointing a DoF now might lead to clash of interest unless their are changes in contract terms...
The board allowed him to force Rangnick out. They gave him power that he didn't have at Ajax. How can you be moving from a smaller club to a bigger club and then be automatically given extra powers?

I remember many people here were cheering his decision because most fans here are reactionary and emotional. If people used logic, it would be obvious that the problems at Manchester United are structural and just buying expensive players alone or just appointing a competent manager alone can't solve them. Look at the way Potter that was coaching Brighton to beautiful football went to the chaotic structure at Chelsea and looked worse than Ole. If a club without proper structure appoints De Zerbi as manager, they might be in for a rude awakening. as well.
