If we had a CM in the team yesterday instead of mount, we'd have been better off. He would help during build up and he'll also provide cover for the defense.

That transfer doesn't make sense at all and it's all on ETH.

Rashford isn't ready to play CF too, altho he didn't get much service because our build up play was terrible. The only times he looked dangerous was when he got the ball on the wings.

Thank God for alert that dropped into VAR account to overlook that stonewall penalty. 3 points gained and we move on but that Top 4 will be a struggle this season cos most of the bad habits are still there.

Exactly. I know he was overcrowded but I was talking more about his tendency to prematurely jump into and completely miss tackles. Well I started seeing this a little after his return from suspension last season. I hope it’s just rustiness/lack of fitness and not the beginning of a Matic-like decline.

Meanwhile ETH is on watch. Wolves with 5 day training should not outplay us like that. Our players played like they met in that train station next to Old Trafford for the first time just before kickoff. If a manager buys players that don’t make sense then he has to make it make sense or he shoulders the bulk of the blame.

Casemiro was just jumping into slide tackles all over the pitch unnecessarily. It’s a bit surprising he ended the game without any booking.

Because he was missing the slide tackles. Cunha and his boys were just jumping over the slide tackles with ease.

Onana, Varane, and AWB were the only 3 players to come out of that stinker with their reputation intact. Matheus Cunha turned into prime Yaya Toure.

Case was not overworked. He was the one overworking people. Could not run. Could not tackle. Could not shield the ball. Caught day dreaming on the ball multiple times. Could not pass the ball.

I’d prefer we hold on to that duo for a year at least before releasing them.

We can’t buy stars for all positions and we shouldn’t be quick to sell the best we have in certain positions. Look at that left wing now. We don’t have a deputy for Antony at the moment. We might have to make do with Forson until Amad returns.

Jurado has been here for 3 years o. He came in with Garnacho and Alvaro Fernandez. The guy is very good technically but not a great defender and will struggle with the physicality of the EPL. Plus he has 2 relatively young full backs ahead of him. I am not saying we should sell him now but the pathway to some of these guys is choked. I agree with you though that 1 or 2 more years might be needed to make final decisions in done of the cases.

But on a more serious note it is better we sell them early and give them a proper chance at a career rather than keep loaning them. Man City’s academy that has been rodding everybody for the past few years also sells early. They only keep the very best.

We shouldn’t become like Chelshit that has made wrecking young players careers a tradition. If ETH thinks he won’t make it here cos of those ahead of him he should sell him

Disciplinary issues about McNeil? I never envisioned that. I remember you doubted his abilities then and you probably weren’t keen about us buying him from City.

I don’t mind if we win the youth cup but I’d like us to go far or not be knocked out by the likes of Stoke.

I started seeing naija boys in the youth setup a few years ago. We also had a few of them. There was Tosin Kehinde and one other lad. Not sure how they panned out.

Yes Tosin Kehinde was one of the first in a while but then they weren't so many. He and Olosunde were the only ones then with us. After them came Shoretire, Deji Sotona and Opemipo Odubeko. Now most teams have 5-6 Naija boys if you count Under-18 and Under-21. We currently have Oyedele, Ogunneye, Shoretire, Musa, Arsenal and Man City can probably combine to field an entire matchday squad if you add Under-18 and Under-21.

can't greenwood decide for himself and force a move, even if it's a loan one.

He is under contract, and he grew up in the United Academy so he will be hoping that they forgive and forget and give him a chance, so he won't want to go confrontational especially as he knows they are the ones to decide his fate AND he still has maybe half of the fanbase on his side. It is up to the United hierarchy to either brave the uproar and recall him or toe the party line and offload him. He runs the risk of going 2 years without kicking a ball if the transfer window shuts and he is still here. Youthful talent and sharpness can erode quite quickly.

I don't think so. They should probably sell him of rather than postponing the decision and potentially wrecking his career more with the long layoff. He could have had a proper preseason with another team and had a fresh start to his career but the chronically indecisive people running Old Trafford don't know what to do so they keep postponing the decision. They are not well at all. Either recall him or sell him let him go ahead to live his life.

If we don’t muster up, we won’t get far in the youth FA cup. Man City is still there. They have this oboavwoduo fella who looks promising. Im sure we can never pride him away. Plus other teams are coming up too. Arsenal defeated them and there’s West Ham too who have a good academy although I’m not too keen about them even tho they won it last season.

McNeill has struggled with the step up. I always knew he was way below Greenwood and used to comment about how he didn’t offer anything beyond his goals but even I have been surprised by how much he has struggled with the Under-21s. Hugill has been by far the better player with the Under-21s. I have also read rumours about disciplinary issues.

Yeah I know Oboavwoduo. Man City’s team will still most likely be better but the youth cup is a knockout competition which is why even when City had terror squad of Romeo Lavia, Adedire Mebude, Oscar Bobb, and Carlos Borges our okay team with Garnacho, Mainoo, McNeill et al still won the competition.

Meanwhile have you noticed how Naija boys have flooded English academies. It is difficult to watch a match these days without 3 or 4 Naija names playing.

I have the same expectations. Hoping they won’t give the Fletcher boys too much preferential treatment. We’ve got so many midfielders in the youth set up.

The good thing is that in the Under-18s everybody gets given a chance or else people will stop coming to your academy. It’s more about developing a huge number of professionals than results. It’s only in the FA Youth Cup that the best team will get selected almost every time. With the midfielders and defenders we have we can go far in the cup but the strikers (Wheatley and Musa) have so far been underwhelming unlike McNeill and Hugill’s set.

Because Brighton have Chelsea's mumu button. They are probably doing one elaborate money laundering scheme at Stamford Bridge because some of their moves have been questionable to say the least.

Based on statistics there are 4 players at Brighton that might be moving for close to 100m Euro within the next 1-2 years, namely Evan Ferguson, Kaoru Mitoma, Facundo Buonanotte, and Julio Enciso. Yahoo Boys need to get in touch with Brighton management to learn work.

That'll be a good experience for him. I want him to get as close to the action as possible before he gets any minutes. The familiarity will help him when/if his time comes.

Ethan Williams seems like he could do a job on the wings. He looks comfortable with both feet.

I am still not sure about Williams. He really should have been our Under-18 player of the year last season instead of Mainoo and his ability to shoot, cross, and dribble with both feet is very rare indeed, but he can be a bit boneheaded sometimes. We will see how he does when he starts playing some Under-21 games later this season. I expect our Under-18s to do fairly well this season. The good 2nd year scholars like Harrison, McAlllister, Williams, will be more experienced and with rated 1st year scholars like Fletcher's son, Lacey, Fitgerald we might have another deep run in the FA Youth Cup. We have started loading midfielders again with mediocre wingers and strikers.

Yeah but they will mature very fast. I see them dominating most opposition midfields almost immediately and becoming a problem by next year. Good thing is that Chelsea’s wingers appear to be toothless.

Lavia, Caicedo, Enzo is a very good midfield and will only get better with time. Creativity might be an issue but that’s where the wing forwards come in.
