Sitting here in my office in Australia I knew since last year that the club wouldn’t retain him but the club itself didn’t know that. They can’t even read their own minds.

Yes that may be true but his career is already damaged to an extent. Just how bad the damage is we will see over the next few months and years. If he doesn’t start playing competitive football soon he will lose all the skill that made him special.

It is a sad story all around for everyone involved.

I always knew they would. Only a sale to the Qataris might have saved him. The Glazers don't have the stomach to face cancel culture and i am not sure even Greenwood could have survived hate that was about to be unleashed on him. What is more important now is for him to get a club in a quality league to revive his career.

The guy’s post is littered with error.

Firstly Josephus was born about 10 years after Jesus died NOT hundreds of decades as he stated.

Tacitus was also born about 25 years after Jesus died.

Neither of them was a Christian and they wrote at a time the Romans were still practicing their own traditional religion and persecuting Christians, so the part where he asked for the official religion of the Roman Empire is an own goal.

We should not believe 2 respected historians who actually had no reason to support Jesus but still conceded that he was a historical figure, but we should believe you because of “trust me bro”.

Difficult to say. Cancer, Chemo, or some other gastrointestinal problem. His weight loss started a few years ago so it is likely to be a chronic issue or a recurring one rather than something one-off like surgery. Other causes like diabetes and thyroid disease are usually easily corrected so would be unlikely in this case.

He was a cheap pickup as a bench player for me. If Chelsea start winning games, which is likely, i can move him to the starting lineup. He is a bench player priced defender who will potentially get starter minutes playing for a good defence.

Honestly, the jury is out there on whether or not both men re who we think they are. Both might have done it in clubs/leagues of less quality and low expectations. Also, we should think about the frictions that would have occurred between both in the same club. ETH is just too stubborn!

That is where you guys (and ETH) got it wrong. Even Pep had enough football people advising him at both Bayern and City. ETH himself had Overmars as an experienced DoF at Ajax.

The reason most people here didn't want Rangnick as DoF was because of his record with us as interim manager, and that reason was and remains ridiculous. I am almost certain that was also the reason why the board accepted ETH's demand to be in control of transfers. Power that he didn't have at Ajax o.

It is like appointing the Brighton DoF as our interim manager with the understanding that he would be our DoF next season but then cancelling his DoF contract cos he failed as a manager. But guys were emotional about Rangnick because of his performance as a manager as if the skillsets to be a manager and DoF are the same. 16 months after he said we need major surgery we have bought 6 first team players and brought in several other squad players.......and the surgery is not yet over.

Then he should allow the DoF and scouts to do their jobs. He should tell them what he is trying to do and allow them identify and sign the players. The way he is going about it right now does not make sense at all.

Betterstill, he should ask the management for a well experienced DoF. I remember that when he was negotiating his contract, he specifically said he wants to have a significant say in transfer matters. Unfortunately, he can’t do everything. He should focus on figuring out the best set up and tactics and ask people to help him identify players.

If he wanted to allow the DoF to do their jobs he would not have insisted on Rangnick being sent packing (as we were made to believe). It seems he bet on himself to identify the players that will suit his system and if he loses the bet he will lose his job as well.

He does not really know how to identify talent, so he goes back to the tried and trusted players. Funny thing is that those players originally became his players because Overmars (not ETH) identified them.
Unfortunately, there is nobody at United who has the confidence or football know-how to advise him otherwise. I always said not keeping Rangnick on as DoF was a mistake cos it looks like ETH knows the style of football he wants to play but does not know the type of players he needs to play it.

Garnacho last season when he was playing well did this almost exclusively as a sub and was poor as a starter. Rashford plays better as a LWF than as a CF. Sancho was quite good as a false 9 in pre-season in terms of linking up of play and connecting the dots in attack. Our attack was stinky in our previous game against Wolves. Rashford can't hold the ball up in central areas whether passed to feet or passed to head but at least Sancho has shown better ability to hold the ball up and link passes in preseason and from his few minutes as a sub. Also, Pellistri has shown the ability to take his man on and on the odd occasion beat his man unlike Antony.

When one adds all those together the reasonable lineup for this Spurs game should have been Rashford at LWF, Sancho at CF, Pellistri or Antony at RWF.

The major concerns however have to be about training and tactics. They are playing like they do not train and did not have a preseason. Looking very much like an Ole-coached team at the moment.
