nitrogen: Maybe they should have considered protesting just for a few hours before match time, then allow the game to go ahead. Do this every match day at OT, and you will be taken seriously.
Also, they need the right people to back/support them. The Glazers won’t be moved by protests and picketings. Money will move them, they will sell at the right price. That appears to have been the plan until they someone found an unmanned and unlocked door at the Disabled Entry area. Entering the pitch was just a fluke occurrence. I agree that merely protesting won't change much. Regular protests + match ticket boycott + merchandize boycott is the only thing that will hit the Glazers in the pcoket. |

Roland17: I think this aspect is an indictment on the Greater Manchester Police not entirely on the Glazers. The Police (GMP) had credible intelligence report that there is a planned protest of this magnitude yet they did not provide any cover. Infact it took hours before we started seeing police officers. The Glazers are the ones whose property is in jeopardy. They are the ones who employ the stewards, and who could have employed more stewards to secure the place. The police have a share in the blame but securing the stadium is primarily a job for the stadium management. |

Roland17: These guys no sabi American investors/ club owners.. They are very indifferent and absolutely don’t care what the fans think.. It would take months of boycott and intense protest for any American owner to sell their club.
American investors have a pure undiluted Capitalist mentality about everything in comparison to the ideology behind football and fandom especially in a more socialist/ mixed leaning economy like the UK. A boycott of the stadium when fans are allowed back will do more than merely protesting. Then a boycott of all Man Utd merchandise. Shut off the money tap by reducing match day revenue and merchandise, then generate more negative publicity by continuing with the protests thereby scaring away the sponsors and commercial partners. If the profits keep going down the Glazers will sell. They are in it to make money so you have to hit them in their pockets. |

SyIvalord: Yes, I thought so too. Bissouma and Ndidi are obviously facing a lot more defensive situations per 90 than Fred and Mctominay. Bissouma is supposed to be higher on the defensive axis than Fred or Mctominay but he is lower. I think maybe it’s because his positioning is really good so he rarely has to make a tackle?
Ndidi on the other hand should have better progression because Leicester are not constantly under pressure from attacks. They usually keep possession except when they play against better teams. Ndidi should have better stats in terms of ball progression but his ball progression is proven to be quite poor.
Anyway, Somethings definitely cannot be captured by graphs.
Yes I agree with this. Every match day I am frustrated by their inability to receive the ball on the half turn and make a progressive pass. Anytime they attempt it, they always end up losing the ball because of a bad touch or a very poor pass. They always gift the opponent the ball under little or no pressure.
I am not even comfortable seeing any of them in the starting lineup. When I realize that we have no better option, my discomfort intensifies.
Yes I agree, we certainly need to do better than both of them. In order to fit Pogba and Marcus in their best positions, we need a DM who can sit in front of the defence alone, protect the defence superbly, receive the ball comfortably from the defence on the half turn even whilst under pressure and pick a forward pass to initiate an attack. I just wonder if Bissouma or Ndidi are the right choices. My choice would be the Yorkshire Pirlo but he is Leeds through and through, which makes it very difficult but not impossible. I can manage Phillips and Fred. I was looking for Ndidi on the graph but didn't see him. His progression stat might not be great but defensively he is very solid. One player that i am suspicious of is Declan Rice. Plays in a low block and has Soucek helping him choke all that space PLUS he looks slow to me. if we buy him it might be another Maguire experience. |

olabode89: I have been watching our academy guys quite regularly for about 2 years on MUTV and some guys just stand 0ut from the get go. I usually rate technique and quick thinking over physical attributes.
Amy top 5 guys that I think might make it to the senior team are 1. Mengi 2. Elanga 3. McNeil 4. Forson 5. Laird
This might be shocking to most guys but I am not so sure that Hannibal and Shoretire will make it at the senior team mainly because they are both play best as an AM (my opinion) and that position requires a lot that is game time, confidence and quickness dependent. Also Bruno has that position locked down for at least 5 more years.
Laird and Elanga can actually stake claims to back up positions for the RB and LW positions by next season. Interesting. Mengi has potential but for an academy CB to make it at a big club he has to be either very lucky or very good. I like him but he has his work cut out for him. Elanga has real potential as well. He is an unbelievably quick LWF with good technique and his finishing continues to improve. Rashford, Martial, Pogba all preferring the left side might be an issue, but has a real chance. McNeill has the same issue with Mengi. Youth team CFs typically do not break through at the top clubs. If he can expand his game like Greenwood and is able to play multiple positions he might get minutes while he matures. Then there is the big elephant in the room: He is 17 while Greenwood is 19, very close in age. Forson is another one with potential and like you earlier pointed out he has a unique way about him. But why him and not Shoretire who is only a few months older but much more highly rated by the club? Or Mebri who is only 18 after all. Laird is one that should be in the squad soon. Maybe one more year on loan with either a Championship club or mid-level Premier League team. |

European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by afrodoc2: 2:10pm On May 01, 2021 |
SyIvalord: Afrodoc2, we have always complained that Fred and Mctominay are poor at progressive passing and we want them to be replaced by Ndidi or Bissouma. But the graph below shows that we may be mistaken? What do you think about this?
Fred and McTominay may not be good enough, but the graph shows that Bissouma or Ndidi may not be the answer. That is a good graph but context is key. If a CM's team is usually under pressure and you have most players pinned back he won't have many passing options and his progression stat will most likely suffer. And my problem with them is not just purely passing but their inability to take the ball on the half turn from the GK or defenders and initiate attack. The defenders now often ignore Fred when he comes short for the ball in front of the D while McTominay often just hides and refuses to make himself available in those areas. The other problem is that if we switch to a 4-3-3 neither of them can play the CDM role solo. If we switch to a 4-3-3 will you be comfortable with McTominay as solo CDM and Pogba and Bruno both pushed forward as 2 attacking midfielders or Fred alone as CDM and Pogba/Bruno pushed forward as attacking midfielders? Both of them individually lack something a CDM needs to have but luckily for us they compliment each other SOMEWHAT. However we need to improve in that department in order to step up to the next level. |

Oasis007: Shola can play as LM and RM as well, Hannibal can play as CM, I think it's only Iqbal who can't play other positions aside AM. At the senior level that versatility will be limited. That you can play a position at the youth level does not mean you can play it at the senior level. At the senior level there won't be so many opportunities for a boat load of youth players to each try out different positions. The coaching staff will just focus on the most likely success stories and forget the rest. Mejbri has actually played CM,AM, LM quite well while as you rightly said Shoretire has played AM, LM,RM. Hansen-Aaroen can play CM, AM. Iqbal has played CM as well though he obviously is more comfortable as an AM. Forson is another one with potential who is really just an AM. |

Based on talent at least 2 of them should make it big and i suspect all 4 will make appearances for the senior team at some point. |

KingAlabi: Funny thing is that, the so-called oleouters think if we join their band wagon of Biased arguments about Ole, he will instantly be sacked by the board. The man does not deserve a new contract but the board/ownership that i always knew was the major problem are prepared to give him one. This is because Top 4 and Champions League football is all they really want. However if a manager becomes desperate and goes on to win the league they would be okay with it but they are not interested in spending big bucks in chase of league titles. Although if Champions League qualification is in doubt they are willing to spend the aforementioned big bucks in order to get in. |

Leyqute: The same thought I had. If Shaw gaining form is all on him, Martial losing form should be all on him too, not about Ole.
Capitalcee is heavily biased here. I want Amaka gone but we should use logical arguments to drive our point rather than just being emotional and blaming him for all the problems in the team and not giving him credit for anything at all. At some point the owners, the board, and the players also have to take their own share of blame and praise depending on the situation. The board wants to extend Amaka's contract and some people still think that Amaka is our main problem. |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by afrodoc2: 3:51pm On Mar 27, 2021 |
CapitalCee: Shaw's LB position just needs him to be intelligent and simple. Has nothing to do with Ole. Hehehehe. See theory. So if Shaw, AWB or any other full back loses form or plays poorly we can't blame Amaka be that o. After all their quality of play has nothing to do with the manager. |
