This defense is still very shaky

Herrera and Di Maria have been top notch.
Blind's passing has been excellent BUT he needs to bulk up,he lost his balance a few times

coogar: honestly, he's been the star of the show. i hope van gaal supports him till the very end. he has been the most composed defender throughout this campaign at such a young age.

rooney has been very good too....less diagonal balls. rafael has added bite....daley blind is controlling the midfield like a don. herrera is a diamond in the dirt. it has not been flawless but with time, this team will get into the top 4 easily.

Our central defense going forward might actually be Jones and Blackett. Evans loss of confidence and composure is alarming.....what is wrong with him?
Rojo has mistimed one or two balls,i hope he can clean that up....smart move by LVG to play him at LB rather than CB

Di Maria and Modric made the 433 work with their work rate in the LCM and RCM positions with Alonso being the all seeing one in between and slightly behind

If you check my earlier post i criticized Ronaldo and Bale for being black holes. They both freelance too much and do not play within a system.

I don't agree with your CL assertion. Last season Illaramendi played in 11 CL matches, Alonso played in 9 matches and Khedira played in 5.
Khedira played in the final. These 3 are at least each 2 times as defensively astute as Kroos and Modric combined. In your Bayansh thread you lot are always talking about how much of a defensive liability Kroos is.....so you should know he is a downgrade on Alonso or Khedira (at least defensively)

codedguy is right. Rodriguez and Isco are the only reasonable options for the no 10 role with James being first choice of course.
Then the midfield behind should be one of Khedira or Illaramendi AND one of Kroos or Modric......a hatchet man and a playmaker.

get one destroyer in the mould of vidal or javi martinez to anchor the midfield and sit between kroos & modric & you would have a super team. benzema doesn't score enough, the midfield cannot stop goals enough.

They need someone who can hold up play,link well with the other players AND finish the easy chances.......Benzema is too inconsistent a finisher to be the main striker for Real Madrid. Raul,Van Nistelrooy,fat Ronaldo,Davor Suker,Morientes,Hugo Sanchez,El Butre were all more consistent finishers.
Benzema reminds me of Andy Cole......scores many goals but misses many more chances.
