I usually don't trade derivatives.
My bank allows me purchase spot in app (not physical) and given my knowledge of market structure, I find that easier to use.

That said, it's not something I do regularly as I find the market slow moving and more of a hedge than an investment. Picked up some after the covid crash and sold after a while.

What do think about copper? Has strong bullish thesis based on EV and renewables.

I have been having this opinion for a long while i.e if it is profitable building a house and renting? Given timeframe to recoup investments. i prefer buying lands fencing and selling off later or as a preserver of wealth and hedge against inflation. if the land is in a very good location, personally i prefer building an event centre. lower overhead costs and increased cash flow.

Let me play devil’s advocate here

So you decide to buy shares in a REIT (instead of buying a property) and you are getting dividends from the shares. Cool stuff. But then you need cash for another project and decide to sell your shares but the share price has seriously fallen or you can’t even find buyer for the shares.

Wouldn’t you have been better off with a property in your name in a decent location where everything is within your control and stock market forces do not determine what you get if/when you decide to sell REIT shares that are illiquid in Naija?

How long would it take you to buy land, settle agbero and onile, build house then before generating profit? With REIT the entry point is lower plus it saves you the hassles. But las las e good to own land

I do stocks and metals (gold)... I've started pulling out slowly from stocks cos the space is becoming more uncertain and it's not my forte. I do metals not for profit per se but cos it's traditionally been a hedge against inflation (over time).

Hello house I just wanted to drop my observations here (I might be wrong maybe it's a one time event and feel free to correct me as I'm just starting this US Stock thing).

I noticed at the opening of market each day stock prices usually go up or down based on News, and several factors which I don't know. Then around 3 to 5 hours later it start going down and towards the end of the market it comes up again. So yesterday I decided to test the hypothesis.

At the beginning of the market Tesla share was trading around 600 or so (I got 2 the previous day at $625) so I kept close eyes on it. It went down to 540 and at that point I wanted to buy but it dip a little bit so I set the buy option to 500 (poor me i read an article online that says Tesla stock is overvalued at 500) when I came back in the evening it was already back to 590. I panickly got 1 at 580 something.

Meanwhile mid market (when the stocks were bleeding for real) I got some Sensonics for $2.2 per share, some Naked Wire and 5 pieces of NIO (I wanted to buy this one last week for over $40 but ended up buying it at $34 each yesterday). At the end of the market the 3 went up and all were Green.

Note: When I started last month I had no clue of what I was doing, I just come here and see recommendations and I buy them straight away without DD (I didn't even have a clue what to look out for then). My folder is still very very red but it's good to see 4 to 5 of the stocks being green in the middle of this dip

This is encouranging. Not your thesis but the fact that you are looking for patterns. however never assume that the market would behave the same way. A lot of institutions that used bots missed out of the rally last April because who would have thought of a pandemic and its effect on the matket. Also put in mind that the US market is very efficient. That is , it reacts to info quickly. So the trends you notice are just reaction to current news. Lastly, it is assumed that newbies rush to trade at the opening of the market whike the big boys (institutional investors) do most trading towards the close of the trading session. So just hold off to onsetve wehere the trend is going unless you are uktra long teem. But nice one. Love the fact that you are trying to read between the lines

I think they are supposed to be a platform for small investors to invest their money indirectly in stocks and funds managed by SEC approved fund managers.

So if small investors buy stocks or invest their money using these platforms, the platform takes the money to invest through brokers and fund managers and charges a fee (to the small investors) which it shares with brokers and fund managers. This makes sense.

My only concern is when they ‘safelock’ money and guarantee returns. In this case, they will be investing the money themselves. That is risky.

I saw a video where one of them said they invested earlier in long term bonds and that this allows them to continue to pay out higher interest rates in a low interest market. The question is where did a start up with no money get the funds to buy up so many bonds? What happens if interest rates go up in the future and they are still holding these old long term bonds?

Also, how is the same AICO that is ‘managing’ their funds not able to offer the same 13%? One of AICO’s marketers posted a very pitiful 3% offer here a few days ago.

Exactly. What cant AIICO pounce on this seeming biz opportunity. Also, do they publish quarterly report to inform investors of their decisions? How can investors ascertain that the bonds were bought?

This due diligence you guys are doing, we have done it extensively, I suggest you join some financial intelligence groups like Money Africa or Rise Investment group

Your point is very valid. But its like choosing between the devil and the deep blue sea. Investors and lenders have to be compensated for the risk of lending you money, hence the high interest rates. Interest rate reflects investors confidence in the borrower. The lower the confidence in you replying back, the higher the interest rate.
