Nigeria is still 100yrs behind SA interms of Infrustructure. Country of 160m producing only 4000MWn whereas SA with a population of 52m produces 55 000MW. You can see Nigeria still got a Long way to go. Without power infester will run away and the Economic growth will fall below 5%.

Nigeria should be competing with countries like Kenya, Libya, algeria and Egypt. SA got no competition in Africa. SA is way too advance, no wonder every African wants to be in SA. its not by Fluke. Its the only Country you find any Nationalities in Africa.

SAN would need some build up for this. But no more than 6 months if money is not a issue. A government that is spending less on "stuff" will import less goods and services. It has a lazy balance sheet; and is not working as hard as it should.

The moment a government commits to spending on stuff, you will see the import curve getting steeper. Unless you are able to say you have spent enough, year-on-year, on social wealth creation activities, you have no business talking about cash saved. What are you saving for, exactly? Another 2008 that will devalue your savings?

Ideally, a government will want a positive balance of payments. But realistically, whether or not a government has a negative balance of payments is immaterial, if the government can still meet its debt obligations. By the same tokem a highly geared, but profit generating company is good if it pays its debts on time; and has manageable interest rates.

at 2010 levels, the price of gold has risen by more than 100% seens then so the value could be far higher. South Africa also has one of the largest caol reserves and the 5th largest shale gas reserves in the world, our mineral wealth is far
higher than the figure I posted which was only for metal mineral wealth based on 2010 prices. Anyway, one cannot take quotes for mineral wealth seriously because the prices can change alot over time, last dacade the price of oil was below $20 per barrel now it's around $100, who knows what might happen in the next 5years. South Africa has 4,8 million unimployed, you have to calculate for people of working age not the whole population.
