Foreign AffairsRe: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by agaugust:
Fighter Pilot: I am not going to explain myself over and over. We have trained the Nigerian military pilots (NAF) in SA and moreover even your commercial pilots train in SA. We have more better flying experience and advanced flying schools than Nigeria and thus we provide them with training from time to time. If there is anyone you know in NAF ask him. In any case it doesn't matter you believe or not.
army officers from india and pakistan are being regularly trained in nigerian military academies. does that mean nigeria will defeat india or pakistan in war.

nigerian new helicopter training simulators just arrived/delivered. augusta helicopters are italian but a factory was built in south africa and nigeria purhased from that factory. some training could result from that.

otherwise, if you are a real fighter pilot, you know you dont fly an aircraft you did not train to fly, or else you crash. nigerian combat aircraft are different from south african combat aircraft. i just remeinded you of how your air force chief of plans commended nigerian air force professsionalim when he came to nigeria to meet them, he had a different view when he was far away in south africa, nigeria updated his knowledge when he came, he requested joint training, NOT handing down skills to nigeria like school boys.

you may have more advanced training schools, but NOT better pilots or instructors. nigeria has used alpha jets in combat for over 20 years with regular training and recent upgrades. nigeria has flown C-130 hercules for over 20 years and we now maintain it locally. we are masters of the aircraft we have flown for 20 years, we dont need south africa for any special training. however, no military is perfect in this world, not even america.

souldust: some SAn f0.0ls, out of their blind patriotism fueled by ignorance and lack of exposure, think Naija is just one thing the have in their minds. Why dont you just read on and let that pic you have in your head about Naija fade away very quickly if you are to remain relevant in this world

the posts on nigerian infrastructure by @souldust is okay, they are answers to some south africans who asked what nigeria has achieved apart from buying military hardware

south africans too have posted their country's infrastruture on earlier pages. equation balanced.

strategic intelligence of south africa failed in CAR seleka rebels war. Tactical intelligence is secondary not primary. sorry, south african war intelligence is NOT impressive going by history.

training photo above too. @andrewza said nigerian soldiers standing on the heads on the floor does not make a soldier strong, so maybe same for south african soldiers carrying logs of wood like farmers making firewood for cooking.

Fighter Pilot: Agaugust I am an Air Force officer. So, again if I may ask, what makes you think that SANDF is just a walk in the park?
welcome on board. keep classified information secret as required by your military rules. please post honest comments, patriotism is good if not mixed with lies. i say welcome again....i have been waiting for someone like you.

Agaugust is a civilian research support staff in a private defense company in America. I have learnt things about military warfare from combatants up to Colonel rank.

Egypt, Nigeria, Algeria, Ethiopia, South Africa....none of these 5 top african military forces is an easy walk over in combat engagement. However, Egypt will defeat South Africa without much difficulty. Nigerian and Algeria will defeat South Africa with some difficulty, Ethiopia will defeat South Africa with a lot of difficulty.

Nigeria vs Egypt in war is a tough engagement, it may ruin the two nations armed forces. if the war is brief, Egypt will win, but if the war is prolonged, Nigeria will equal Egypt in firepower and the war will be a stalemate. If the war is urban/city army infantry combat, Nigeria will defeat Egypt.

South Africa parades modern weapons but in small numbers. Its infantry is small. Its war history is just average with no record of clear victory. It has faulty strategic war planning and always under-estimate the enemy and over-estimate itself, a major mistake in war for any combatant.

Fighter Pilot: Nigeria are very good on the land, but their arsenal is not that very impressive. Unfortunately, there is sensitive info that I cannot relate to here.
you need to update yourself about nigerian military and dont swallow every thing your country top brass tells you in your military academy. you may want to visit pages 103, 115 and 236 of this thread topic. cheers !

Fighter Pilot: Nigeria are very good on the land, but their arsenal is not that very impressive. Unfortunately, there is sensitive info that I cannot relate to here. I wonder if there are any Airforce soldiers/officers from Nigeria here, they would remember very well. We have trained Nigerian Airforce in SA.
trained nigerian airforce for what ? 95% of our aircraft is different from south africa, except C-130 hercules and AW109 helicopters and those are transports. your air marshal praised nigerian air force...

" Earlier, the Chief Director, Air Policy and Plans of South African Air Force, Maj.-Gen. Zakes Msimang, commended NAF for the high level of professionalism and enthusiasm displayed during the event.

Msimang assured that the South African Air Force would work with NAF to built a powerful and formidable air force in Africa that would meet global standards. "I must be honest; I am overwhelmed by the level of professionalism and enthusiasm displayed by the Nigerian Air Force.

"From what we have observed, we can see a platform of collaboration through which we can put more effort to ensure that we built a formidable air force in Africa."

Fighter Pilot: By the way, I want that source that ever made such claims that SANDF were defeated by the Djotodia's rebels. Does anyone has a source here to update me?
south african army was defeated by Seleka rebels in CAR. we spent months of march and april to argue that on this thread, especially comments from @andrewza, @patriot4 and @patriot3.

remove propaganda and the truth is revealed. south african air force reservist @snydergy runs away from here anytime the topic is discussed. his conscience tells him the truth.

Fighter Pilot: My top 5 list would be

1. Egypt and South Africa have an equal military power and their use of modern technology
2. Ethiopia the largest force in Africa also good in the air
3. Algeria have the good land forces
4. Nigeria the new and upcoming and also have the good land forces
5. Kenya and Tanzania the new and upcoming.
Egypt and Algeria will defeat South Africa

Nigeria will defeat Ethiopia and Algeria

Egypt will defeat every country in Africa

Seleka rebels have showed south african army weakness in battle and military strategic combat planning.

my own list of African top 10

1.Egypt

2.Nigeria

3.Algeria

4.Ethiopia

5.South Africa

6.Angola

7.Uganda, Kenya, Sudan, Morocco struggle among themselves for 7th position
Foreign AffairsRe: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by agaugust: 9:16pm On May 14, 2013
andrewza: and how do you get to that, do you even have that many AK47, uniforms, webbings extra. where you going to train them extra basically you don't know what you talking about.
in 3 years about a total one million nigerian univerity graduates aged 20 to 29 years go through paramilitary training under nigerian army, about 300,000 youth annually. over 3 million youths trained in the last 10 years.

nigerian civil defence is equal to a gendarme status with training and light weapons as special forces for COIN operations, number is huge, but i need to find out current figures.

nigeria produces AK-47 and FN-FAL, other imported combat rifles are stored in the armoury never used.

it takes one month to train a man to use AK-47 with basic infantry skills. how long did seleka rebels train in a standard military academy ?

you dont know nigeria.

Welcome @Fighter Pilot happy to have you join nairaland. Hope you stay long.

Your above military ranking is faulty though.

Seleka rebels have rearranged African Military Rankings in CAR combat, March 2013.

I know it's just your personal patriotic south African opinion as you said.

Your list is outdated. Sorry brother.

true talk @ckkris, Nigeria can easily mobilize a one million soldier army at short notice. even Egypt will be afraid.

I forgot to remind the south Africans that their Grippen jets have a very short combat radius about 800km, they CANNOT even fly beyond Zimbabwe and they keep on day dreaming about challenging Nigerian air defenses 4,000km away ! Lol grin

Grippen jet no be juju spiriti naa grin
Foreign AffairsRe: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by agaugust: 6:12pm On May 14, 2013
@saengine and others :

You think only south Africa buys modern weapons ?

I have posted before, a long list of very modern weapons Nigeria has but South Africa does NOT have.

Update your knowledge, 12 new year 2012 L-15 Falcon light jet fighters are on their way to join Nigerian Air Force next year.

More ; Nigeria is discussing purchase of new modern heavy or medium jet fighter JF-17 Thunder or Su-27/Su-30 jets. They new jets are coming, new aircraft hangers are being hurriedly built in 4 Nigerian air force bases as at today, chief of air staff says it's for new undisclosed jet fighters....or what do you think we want to put inside the 4 new big airbases hangers ? Bags of maize, beans and potatoes ?

ssaengine: If the Nigerian SAM system was to fail. What is plan b for Nigeria? What modern jets can they scramble up to defend their airspace?
If Grippen jets fail, what js the plan B for south African air defense as at today ? Not tomorrow. All the new air defense south Africans boast about are still under development stages not yet in use.
Foreign AffairsRe: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by agaugust:
ssaengine: Please don't flood the internet talking about Roland. Maybe if this was 1980 you could write me a letter telling me about it, and I would be impressed. And you don't even have Akash yet, if you're even going to get it.
Nigeria has Roland missiles already. Beegeagle website and Indian newspapers says India is modernising Nigerian air defence totally.

What do you think Nigeria is buying now from India as modern air defense weapons to replace our Roland ? Bows, Arrows and Spears ?

Are you going to use sangboma herbalists medicine to make Nigerian air defense systems to fail ?

To update your knowledge, 12 new 2013 L-15 Falcon light jet fighters are on their way to join Nigerian Air Force next year.

Come closer boys...nigerian missiles will love to kiss some south African jets in the name love !

.
Foreign AffairsRe: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by agaugust: 5:07pm On May 14, 2013
ssaengine: No. I said this system. Don't put words from your imagination. A fully loaded Hawk and fully loaded Gripen will destroy it, simple as that. You only have 3 missiles to work with. If we enter your range of 30km and also fire our Umbani at you, you have to decide.....do you try shoot down the jets (which can defend themselves with A-Darter) or do you try destroy Umbani? Either it ends bad for you.
Your bush village Zulu spear combat tactics makes you think Nigeria buys only one missile launcher ?

Roland SAM Nigeria has 16 launchers with 300 missiles and all 300 missiles can be fired in 5 minutes.

Nigeria never buys few missiles for air defense, we buy enough to defend us against the great Egyptian air force champions of Africa in the air.

You seem to be interested in south African jet pilots going back to their creator at an early age.

.
Foreign AffairsRe: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by agaugust: 4:23pm On May 14, 2013
ssaengine: And unfortunately for you, we can hit this target at 40km. Before you can even launch at us.
....but unfortunately for you Akash radar range detects enemy incoming guided bombs and missiles from 180km away and defends itself by firing anti-missile missiles

Just as I said before, you are just a copy and paste internet weapons photographer. You don't know the real live art of war and battlefields combat.

Go sit down men !

you know I am very good with sources. Show me web link source of Grippen jet combat history since 1998.

I posted same for Roland SAM so you must balance the equation. I am waiting for you.

ssaengine: 1980's Roland SAM....."same level of technology". Hahaha
Ordinary old anti aircraft guns shot down many of America's best jets F-15 and F-16 in Iraq war.

South Africans argue based on what their weapon is expected to do.

Augustine argues based on what his weapons have been proved to have done in real combat history.

see the difference ?
Foreign AffairsRe: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by agaugust:
You are wrong @Defenceweb

why does a soldier fire more than one bullet against one enemy soldier in front of him. Your combat knowledge is very poor.

Roland SAM k.illed many different types of jet fighters in many different major wars of super powers nations.

Spain just purchased one of the most expensive and modern jets in the world..EUROFIGHRER TYPHOONS cost over $7 billion. NATO powers always has money for weapons.

Grippen needs to be accurate in targeting before it can identify Roland SAM among many army vehicles hiding inside thick bush or special camouflage. That attempt will expose the Grippen to Roland missiles and thus...pilot's wife becomes a young widow.

I cannot continue to repeat comments I posted before. Wasting my time.

@Defenceweb, I don't want to argue combat tactics with you and waste my precious time. You don't know the art of real war. You and I are not talking at the same level of knowledge. Sorry not an insult. Try another opponent at your level. Thanks.
Foreign AffairsRe: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by agaugust: 2:09pm On May 14, 2013
Defenceweb: So Nigeria has the Roland 2 SAM. Technology that is 20 years old. The South African Gripen carries the A-Darter missile which is not only an air-air missile, it's also a self defence missile. So if need be it can shoot down in-coming SAM's, similar to how the Iris-T missile works.
I won't be hard on you because I hate to insult people just because they don't know military stuff. What I know is by privilege in life .

Grippen jet cannot carry enough defenses to stop 10 Roland missiles fires in 2 minutes. Missiles don't miss target because of age, Roland SAM is still in use by Spain today as a NATO power.

30 year old Yugoslavia SAM shot down the most modern American invisible stealth jet fighter in Bosnia war.

Jet pilots that love their wives and children avoid Roland SAM, they wait for their army soldiers to capture Roland in ground warfare.

Check my previous posts, I have proved it with web link sources.
Foreign AffairsRe: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by agaugust:
sithwell: What do Nigerian soldiers see when they look around. A war within their own borders? And then you want to walk about waging wars against other nations?
Britain had 30 years of internal war with IRA religious terrorists bombing London killing civilians, yet Britain's army navy air force travelled about 10,000km away to fight major war and defeat Argentina in Falkland war.

Nigeria knows what it is doing. No need for south African advice. Thanks.

@Henry. The report on south African military in Goma town by @homerac7. The Grippen jet vs Roland SAM.

what's your view on both ?
Foreign AffairsRe: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by agaugust: 1:43pm On May 14, 2013
Thiza: You did not read the purpose of my posting in huste to dispute the aim of the article. The article indicates that 300 Nigerian soldiers were captured by rebels after running out of ammunition.....Something that failed to occur to South African soldiers in the Central African Republic.

In addition is so amazing the veil of silence whenever a negative posting is made coming from Nigerian newspapers. Nigerian Secret Service had a list of 60 agents posted into the internet by Boko Haram. Message if you cannot protect your secret then how cab you protect the country so the saying goes.
your stories have NO web link sources to prove them, so all your claims fail

homerac7: You are not just daft, but a very dishonest person. It is the second time I am posting a documented fact for you at which you repeatedly failed to respond to the fact, but summarily slithered away from it like the snake you are.

Now I challenge you again, Andrewza, respond to the issues raised by your own SANDF officers about the incompetences of your military intelligience, Rooivak, Makopa and routing of your troops in Goma. Afterall, you have sing praises to high heavens about your "supernatural" weapons, which have just been exposed as inefficient by your own military men.
You finished South Africa with their own sword !

.
Foreign AffairsRe: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by agaugust: 5:50am On May 14, 2013
andrewza: yet you have still given poor information and some case outright misinformation.

Most modern AA guns are radar guided or assisted. And have you ever shot a target at 800km a hour. Bombing run yes but even that is hard. In order to be accurate(like when providing danger close CAS) you need to go a slower. The rolan was designed to kill enemy aircraft flying at Mach 1.3 most aa guns would achieve a similar success of course at a much decreased range

i take it you don't know what the speed of sound is.

what you want a weblink for, sweden took part with gripen non where lost, libya had real air defense unlike nigeria.

i never compared us to america you however did compare yourself to 1991 iraq.

you unstable, you work in the job that mentions that. i have a few reports that cover that very topic. BH is symptom not a cause

You comparing your self to iran now?

firsthand experience, they did not do so weel vs SAN/SAAF in a war game.

foolish notion SAAF launched a number of very successful attacks penetrating a real air defense system. Not that ting nigeria has.

lots of nothing to ignore though.

you post a lot uniformed and misinformation fulled posts why.
the people who read my weblink on Tornado will know that you are wrong, even though they are civilians, they use common sense.

F-22 raptor speed is max 2,400km. modern jets do 800km speed carpet bombing at 9km/h and with american air force having thousands of aircraft, they carpet a whole city and level much it. for jets at 9km altitude, AA guns are useless. south african 26 jets are too few for that level of combat operation.

i always post more weblinks than you, yet you say i mis-inform. where are your own weblink sources ? you always want to post your personal opinion and force people to swallow it with the errors.

nigerian military brains are 3 times smarter than libyan military

iran will find it hard to defeat nigeria today.

iraqi military brains are only half of nigerian military brains, arabs are dull and mugu in war like egypt.

how will one Grippen jet escape from 10 Roland missiles in direct combat ? 5 missiles radar guided and 5 electro-optical guided, 10 killer missiles fired in 2 minutes. is the Grippen jet a spirit ?

i have given you good advise. dont go to war thinking that only you can think ! i told you...love your wife, avoid Roland missile.

its 11pm in my continent. sleep time. any other thing ?

post list and data of your south african SAM and tell us if they are in service now or not.

@snydergp lied, your type of Exocet is 70km range and Umkhonto is 15km as at today on Valour frigate, you south africans think Augustine is a f.ool, no he is not.
