Christianity EtcCalling Catholics For A Year Of Faith Project by agboifo(op): 6:01pm On Jun 22, 2013
Hello Catholics on Nairaland,

As you know the "Year of Faith" is already half gone, but there is still time to do something special to grow your faith and contribute to growing the faith of others. Perhaps we made some resolutions when it began and now we still find ourselves wishing we had done more. It is not late. One point about the "Year of Faith" is to make it a new beginning.

Several Nigerian Catholic friends have put together a digital project that is still in its infancy, but we need volunteers.

Are you willing to be held in suspense for the moment? Then please indicate your interest to help. It will not involve any expenses on your part - just a few minutes per week to make this year a great beginning in faith journey for all Nigerian Catholics.

Send your email to cognomeassociates AT gmail.com

I'll send you a reply confirming and further give you an idea of the project.

Thanks for helping out.

Good advice all above.

In addition (though not a diet), exercise regularly.
If you can, 30 minutes or 15 minutes everyday.
You don't need to go to the gym
a) Walk instead of taking the bus
b) Take the stairs instead of using the elevator
c) If your work is desk bound, stand up to retrieve things you need
BusinessRe: Gtbank SMS Service Is Too Expensive At N10 #gtbanksms by agboifo(f): 9:16am On Mar 24, 2012
I bank with GTB and have told them not to send me sms notifications. Email is okay.
Recently however, they made it mandatory for everyone to be send sms notifications, whether you requested it or not.
I complained and complained and even filled the indemnity form that I DO NOT want to be sent sms. What irks me more is the N10 knowing that they are making at least N8 profit off me per sms.

Apparently many other people complained too for...

Thankfully a few days ago, they sent me this email:

"RE: GENS - YOU SPOKE, WE LISTENED

Thank you for maintaining a banking relationship with Guaranty Trust Bank plc.

Our sincere objective has always been to provide you with memorable banking experiences and ensure you perform your transactions safely, conveniently and quickly. This commitment influenced our decision in February 2012 to sign on all customers for the Guaranty Trust Electronic SMS Notification Service (GeNS), which:

Ensures real time knowledge about your financial position and transactions
Enables you immediately identify and report all fraudulent / unauthorized transactions on your account
Feedback from our various channels however indicate that stakeholders would prefer to retain the choice to sign up for the service. Kindly note that we take such stakeholder feedback seriously and constantly appreciate knowledge about your reactions to our numerous service improvement efforts.

Consequently, we have delisted all customers that did not personally request for the GTBank GeNS service from enjoying SMS transaction alerts going forward.

GeNS is an innovative offering that sends instant SMS notifications to your phone, whenever there are transaction(s) on your account(s). These alerts capture details of each transaction, your account balances and provide an effective channel to identify fraudulent transactions on your account.

To request for this service, please visit any Guaranty Trust Branch nationwide. Please note that each SMS alert costs N10.00 (Ten Naira) only.

We appreciate your patronage and invite you to also visit our website www.gtbank.com for more details about our numerous products and service offerings.

For further enquiries please call GTConnect, our 24 hours fully interactive self service centre on 0700 GTCONNECT (0700 482666328), 01-448 0000, 0803 900 3900 or 0802 900 2900.

Thank you.

Truth be told - there is every likelihood most of the yellow fever cards were indeed fake. If you have ever gotten a card for a trip, you know that you don't even have to be present there. Just send your driver with two thousand naira and your passport.

Even when you go yourself, the officials ask you -with injection - or - without injection -

And i'll add 5 to the last offer.
This is rather unorthodox. I kinda prefer direct negotiation to this sort of incremental bidding. Either way, I hope this can be wrapped up by tuesday.
Hi thanks! Sorry about making you bid in this way. Just that I wanted to get the best price for this machine, knowing its true worth. Also I don't particularly like leaving my contact info on the Internet, and my Nairaland account does not permit PM unfortunately. Yes, I too hope to close by tomorrow. At the end of today, I will make contact with my preferred bidder.

Thanks again.

Yeah, it does seem like it's in decent shape. I'd much rather we negotiated offline (I provided my email earlier) but I can pay cash on Monday.
Given that it's the 1st unibody model, I'd say 110k should be a fair price grin
Hi @texazzpete, thank you for your bid. I'll wait a while and see if that's the best I can get, then I'll contact you via email to arrange inspection. Regards.

Family"wives, Have You Considered Adoption?" - Nice Piece On Next by agboifo(op): 9:34am On Jun 01, 2011
http://234next.com/csp/cms/sites/Next/Opinion/5707964-182/story.csp

I was at the baptism of a friend’s daughter last weekend. The sparkling light in the new mother’s eyes as she gazed upon her adopted child had no comparison. Why are many other couples not considering adoption?

Churches and prayer houses have special sessions to petition for “Fruits of the womb” because many marriages are considered incomplete until and unless the wife gets pregnant and is delivered of a child. It is right that a child be considered the “fruit” of a marriage for it is at the very least an external manifestation of the consummation of a love between a man and a woman, and in some way a “personification” of that love made tangible in another human being. There is something so powerful about having a child. Just ask any first time mother or father. And yet it remains a “gift”, which means that it depends on the generosity of the giver and not on the merits of the recipient. Those who believe in God acknowledge Him to be the source of that gift. Would he have reasons to deny it to some for reasons best known to him? It would seem to be the case.

What pressures families go through when that “fruit” delays in coming! Mothers-in-law and the often-ignominious roles they play in these scenarios, but that is another chapter! Many are the cases of disappointed would-be grandmas telling either their daughters or daughters-in-law, to “do something?” if she must save her marriage. The woman is made to believe that until she bears a child of her own, her position in her husband’s house is not secure, and best can be likened to a tenancy whose expiration date is coming closer with each passing minute. How many husbands have been witnesses to the many nights of tears of their wives, often soaking her pillow with silent tears and sobs with that eternal question of “Why me, dear God? Oh dear God, give me a child!” The husband is not spared pressures either, spoken or otherwise, for having a child may unwittingly be an appraisal of his virility, and that, is the best-case scenario. In the worst case one, he may be tempted to consider it the fault of his wife that they do not have a child. “Who knows what she did with her life in the past, eh?” Village-trouble knows no limit and soon it will be his turn to hear the question: “Won’t you do something?” What do they expect him to do? Do away with his wife? Marry another woman? Find fault in his wife as an excuse to considering the marriage a “nullity” a priori?

When a child is lacking, the husband and the wife are perpetually on the defensive in their mutual relationship with one another, for fear that one may interpret the other’s behaviour as a reaction to the lack of a child. Should the husband ill-treat the wife, she may reason that it is “because I have not given him a child”. I bet this can also be frustrating for the well-intentioned husband who loves his wife to distraction no matter what. “I love her; can’t she see that”? Sure, but in the light of the pressures from society and from the extended family, it is still possible to ask how many husbands do enough to protect their wives from these pressures.

And yet, there are many babies being born every day and being abandoned by their own mothers, and we are speaking of babies allowed to get to term and be delivered because some are not that lucky. All they need is the love and yearning that only one who has truly searched can give. Motherless babies homes are filled to capacity with beautiful babies whose mothers either do not want to, or cannot keep.

And that spark of which I spoke earlier, I am sure to see in the eyes of the mother and father who adopts one of these beautiful tots. Why are families not taking this option?

Until you make up your mind to adopt a baby a day old, a week old, you will only have your imagination as support that it is “not the same thing”. How do you know? I know many, many families who have taken this route and what joy it has brought to their homes. I know what else you might be thinking. What if later on God grants me to get pregnant with my “own” child, will I not love the adopted one less? Again, there are many real life cases that will also show that when the desire for a child is genuine want of a subject on which to shower love, instead of a mere affirmation of virility, it will not matter.

PoliticsRe: Acn/gov Fashola In The Lead In Lagos, As Results Trickle In. by agboifo(f): 12:15pm On Apr 27, 2011
Serious issues are made superficial when you quickly seek a label.  "Yoruba", "Ibo", "Hausa".
To my mind it smacks of a sort of intellectual laziness because one prefers to spare the energy it requires to think a matter through.

Anyhow, during the presidential elections I voted GEJ.  It was a pity that to do that, I had to thumb print for PDP, that inglorious party, but if that was the sacrifice required to vote GEJ, as much as it rankled, I was prepared to make it.  Mind you, I voted GEJ because there were no better options for me.  If some kind of alliance among the opposition had worked (and I don't mean the ACN/CPC attempt), there might have been better opposition to deserve my vote.

During the governorship election, I voted for Fashola, who by the way happens to belong to ACN.

So if PDP took pride with the high voter support for GEJ, interpreting it as support for their party, that to me would be the height of foolhardiness.

If ACN takes all the credit for Fashola's victory and chooses thereafter to ignore his policies and actions, for which he got votes, that again would be foolhardiness big enough to match that of the PDP.

Point: Voters are more intelligent than parties give them credit for.

You can also cut the line.

Who is to tell the network didn't disconnect you?  It happens all the time smiley

This is how it works:

Say: "Hello, hello, hello, can you hear me?", and then cut the line!
