Hi, it's simple.

Bulk sms providers with access to an sms gateway will usually give you the following:

ip address
username
password

With the above data, you embed a simple API or SMPP script into your website and voila.

You can contact me if you need more help: fooomp AT hotmail DOT com

I'm a reseller for a European bulk sms provider which several gateways into Nigeria.
I'll set up a test account for you with 5 free sms to test: if you like it, then you can pay in Naira into a GTBank account.

The sms delivers instantly and every time. Don't take my word for it, try it yourself. And if after exhausting your 5 sms you don't like it, no problem, no one feels obligated.

I have used several bulk-sms services myself and in the search for the 'perfect' one (if there's any such thing), I decided to contact the routers directly, hence I now find myself doing business smiley This one works.

If you're interested, please send an email to info@smstrunk.com. For now registration is not automated and so I'll have to do it manually and confirm to your valid email address.

PS. In the event that you plan to purchase REAL BULK (I mean, as in "real bulk"wink, then I might consider giving it to you for as low as N4.
WebmastersProfessional Web Site Design - Request For Bids by agboifo(op): 1:14pm On Jul 02, 2007
Hello people,

I hope I am in the right place to get what I want from the many vibrant and enterprising people here smiley

I am a media executive with clients cutting across different industries (education, health, technology), etc. Basically my job is "institutional communications", helping establishments to "speak" to their public.

I am in need of a professional web site designer. Please permit me to qualify that term, I need a "serious", "professional" adept designer that is not only endowed with the requisite technical skills, but also has a good taste. Is that asking for too much?

Why did I come here? Because I am one of those who don't believe that expertise necessarily comes with the baggage of "owning" a company. Some of the best designers are individuals, many who are self-taught, but simply need a good break. Here I am offering you that break!

If you impress me this one time, I will keep you busy for a long time to come smiley And oh sure, since you're not "Father Christmas", you will also get well paid for your troubles!

But a note of warning: I am terribly demanding, terribly so, If css styles, php, shell access, ssl manager, cron jobs, phpMyAdmin, cgi, MySQL seem gibberish to you, em, please don't apply. I also happen to know what they mean because I do designs myself, but the present direction of my job demands that I focus on other aspects and let someone else take care of the drudgery!

Are you interested? Then please download this pdf file with some preliminary ideas I have for the first project: http://BLOG.writingpad.org/files/Professional Web design Project.pdf

My contact email is embedded in the pdf file.

In addition, kindly supply me with the URL of at least two sites you have built and which are currently online. You might also want to tell me how much you would like to be paid (I will pay well, but please don't expect to build a house, or buy a Hummer Jeep with the first job!), and expected time of completion.

Through my email, I'll gladly supply any other information you will require to enable you make a challenging offer.

You do not have to be resident in Nigeria as we can carry out all transactions online (if that suits you), although meeting with you face to face will be a plus.

Yours is simply to do the design, get paid, end of story. I'll take care of the DNS and hosting angle.

On your marks, set,

BusinessRe: How To Buy Happiness by agboifo(f): 9:13am On Jun 05, 2007
Hi Moneymail,

I take it you do not believe in God!

Perhaps you do, in which case please forgive me. Your advice on happiness gives the impression of one for whom this world is an end in itself with nothing to work or hope for beyond here.

Without believing in God and in a life hereafter, nothing here will really give you happiness. That is why you find many rich and talented people who are unhappy. Check out the rate of depression and suicide cases in more developed economies! True the soul has been created for joy, which is why it 'seems' to find happiness in many things that money can buy; however a clear sign that the soul longs for a different kind of joy is the transient nature of everything that gives joy here below. Name it: it can be a new gadget recently acquired. It will trip you for a few days, weeks, months but soon takes second place while you begin (if you don't control yourself) to search for new sources of excitement. The truth is that the soul is longing, longing, longing, That longing can only be satisfied by a full possession of God, when we see Him face to face in Heaven.

That doesn't mean we should not enjoy ourselves here on earth, after all God created it for our good, but only in so far as in making this world holy, we make ourselves holy and worthy to meet God when we die.

So what am I saying? Your suggestions for happiness are too materialistic. But perhaps I misjudge you. What do you think?

Hi all,

Does anybody have a good fairly used digital camera for sale?

Here are my preferences:

1. Canon PowerShot S3 IS

or

2. Canon PowerShot S2 IS

or

3. Canon Powershot A710 IS

or

4. Canon Powershot A570 IS

Camera should be in good condition and your only reason for selling should be because you want to buy a "better" model, not due to any camera defect. No scratches, all accessories intact: manual, CD, etc.

If you have, please contact me via this board.

Why do I want a fairly used one? Because I cannot afford a new one!

Thanks people!

Hello sir,

Bold of you to come up front to state your need. I hope you do get a good break here, good luck!

However, you might help your case by doing the following:

- Tell people what you actually studied
- What skills do you have besides what you studied (e.g. Can you type? Can you drive? Do you know a second language? etc)
- Are you willing to do a part-time job

Just some ideas. Good luck!

PoliticsThis Election Cannot Stand (the Guardian, April 30, 2007) by agboifo(op): 2:40pm On Apr 30, 2007
[[source: Guardian Newspapers, Nigeria. (http://www.guardiannewsngr.com/editorial_opinion/article04)]]

This election cannot stand
By Eugene Ohu

DURING one of his media briefings while the elections lasted, Prof. Maurice Iwu the INEC chairman embarrassed me with the combative reply he gave to one foreign observer who queried the absence of serial numbers on the presidential ballot papers. Among other things he told the lady who asked the question that his duty was only to Nigerians! I felt pity for the woman whose only offence was that she like others had come here to help us conduct credible elections. Iwu beat his chest, rejoicing at how we have "broken the jinx" of civilian-civilian transition, etc, not realising how ridiculous it all looked in the face of such blatant irregularities. Obasanjo, the chief midwife of the entire project has been doing likewise. It therefore seems that what matters is simply to "transit": to what and how does not matter. The end justifies the means! Or does it? I do not agree, and like many Nigerians, I wish to add my voice to the cry that the just concluded elections were a sham of the highest magnitude and should not be allowed to stand!

Perhaps to pre-empt the voices of reason who are calling attention to the monumental fraud, paid advertisements are beginning to spring up on the pages of the newspapers congratulating the 'president-elect' and 'governors-elect'. Some of the latter have already set up 'transition committees': all oblivious of the fact that they are trying to build on quick sand!

Some are arguing that May 29 is sacrosanct: I say it is not! They think that if we fail to adapt to the results of the elections no matter how fraudulent, and make 'the best of it', we would have lost a great chance to move forward. You can only move forward if you know where you are going. If we move forward on the basis of the current election results, we would only be heading for the precipice! Nigeria has come of age and as has been shown by the enthusiasm and zeal of all voters, the country deserves nothing less than democracy. Nigeria deserves elected and not selected leaders. This electoral sham must not be allowed to stand.

I know that there are true patriots who would fear that it is at times like this that soldiers strike with a coup, which may at first sight seem popular. I do not have any fear of this because the soldiers will be the first ones to recognise that the time for that in Nigeria is past. Nigerians (civilians and soldiers) are not only tired of military rule but it would indeed be a hard sell. Let us not for fear of the unknown fail to right a wrong. It is in the same way that some people with skeletons in their cupboards dread to consider an issue such as the so-called 'Sovereign National Conference' for fear of what such an unknown behemoth might unveil. No evil goes away simply by wish it to. Problems are tackled and it would be fool hardy to wish they never were. If I will borrow the words of Iwu (who refused to admit he made mistakes), what we have before us now are challenges and not problems. We must resolve it the right way.

For the avoidance of any doubt, I do not subscribe to the fact that Yar'Adua has won the elections as president. He did not. He knows it, you know it, I know it, and PDP knows it. Who then is fooling who? If he is allowed to be sworn in come May 29, his government will be an illegitimate one and Nigerians would be morally bound not to recognise it, much less to obey it. It is at times like this that civil disobedience becomes a duty. The type of charade that has happened in Nigeria in the last few weeks in the name of elections will be inconceivable in other climes. I used to think that Nigerians are a resilient and dignified people who never stand for injustice but the silence and indifference that might be permeating our psyche at the present time is very troubling.

I am sad to note that in some states where elections did not hold, some have been declared winners as governors. What brazen impunity is theirs and how low they consider their own people that they present themselves as their governor when the people clearly did not elect them. In one such case, everyday sees his face adorning the pages of the newspapers with sponsored ads showing that smirk on his face that I cannot but interpret as laughter at our gullibility. If he is so convinced that he won why is he spending so much money congratulating himself? Are we going to let this stand?

I did not know that the government of Olusegun Obasanjo was no much loved by Nigerians! I did not realize that in spite of the decay in social and economic infrastructure Nigerians were ready to again vote Obasanjo into power! I did not realize that most Nigerians were deceived to believe this government when it lists GSM telephony as its dividend of democracy! I did not realize that Nigerians so much loved a government that makes its own definition of right and wrong, believing it has a God-given duty to think for us! If not, how can one explain the 24 million votes of confidence purported to have been dashed to his party by Nigerians? I have heard it said that no matter how rich you are, you will always be hungry for more money. To ensure that when we complain about election rigging, our case is made worse, INEC helped them ensure that the margin between the so-called 'president-elect' and the next runner up would be monumental. It was a "shutting-up" action of the first order. "Catch me if you can!"

I will not join those who call on Obasanjo to save his name so that history will be kind to him. At 70 plus years and having tasted power for as long as he cares to remember, I do not think Obasanjo is in need of any history lessons. Those who have dealt with him in the past, and who express themselves better than I ever will, have told us the nature of the man, his ambitions, his tactics, the state of his conscience and his antics. He has acted true to type and none of his actions of the moment should surprise any of us. Is it not time to make him realize that Nigeria is bigger than he is? What cataclysmic earthquake will happen if Nigerians insist that the elections must be cancelled? Nothing! Nigeria will be better for it. The gubernatorial, state houses of assembly, presidential and national assembly elections held on the 14th and 21st of April respectively should be cancelled, considered null and void and be slated for a repeat. Nothing short of that is good enough for our dear country.

Yes, on the face of it, Obasanjo's 'good' intentions for this country are not in doubt, but that does not give him the right to thwart the wills of all Nigerians. He should stop considering himself a Messiah who is the only one with the solutions to our problems. That is inexcusable pride and arrogance that can only lead to what we are now witnessing: the rape of the people's will. Nigerians did not vote for all those who have been declared victors. We did not vote for them. They know it; we know it; the whole world knows it and now they are laughing at us.

Let no one be discouraged by the plethora of voices (including some African heads of states) now congratulating the so-called 'president-elect'. Their pre-emptive congratulatory messages will not validate fake results; after all it is our country and not theirs! I feel the feverish pitch at which the jobbers in government pay are frantically groveling in every direction in search of a legitimacy that the product of this charade will never get. Not from Nigerians; not from any right thinking citizen of this world; not from today's children and not from the children of the future.

Nigeria is a country of 140 plus million people. We have a history that predates any amalgamation, declaration of independence from anybody, successions of governments (forced or elected) and we are intelligent. Aso Rock is one single location in the wide terrain called Nigeria and whatever power that emanates from it must be the one freely given by Nigerians. In case anyone is short on gray matter, democracy is government of the people, by the people and for the people. When a king surrounds himself with drum beaters of vainglory he must not forget that he needs his people to legitimise his position. We have not legitimized Yar'Adua's position, nor have we legitimized that of his fellow players now strutting around the states calling themselves 'governors-elect'.

Nigeria is at an important crossroad that will determine what the future will be for us. To whom do we entrust our welfare to see us out of this quagmire? To ourselves O people of Nigeria, to ourselves. If the legislature cares to join us we welcome them and they will be writing their names in gold. The National Assembly can play its role as the highest legislative body of the land and call things by their name. They cannot allow one man and his ambition and the self-serving band around him to hold an entire country to ransom. Surely our laws provide checks and balances for the legislature to intervene in cases like this? Ultimately, the future of our country is in our hands. Will you play your part?

My Scary story. . .
February 1st 2004, Umuahia, Abia state. I was doing my NYSC at that time and Manchester United were playing Arse-Anal. As a staunch Man Utd fan, that was a match i couldn't have missed. I was staying in The Catholic Corpers Lodge, and also moonlighting at a guest house with a friend of mine. the guest house was like 300metres from the 'Viewing centre'
The match started at about 10:30pm, if you know Umuahia you'd know that the roads are empty at around 8pm, so by this time the road was empty, but there were over 20 people in the viewing centre so i felt it was pretty safe. . .
The match ended 3-0 or 3-1, after 12 midnight, it ended on my birthday (feb 2nd, my best birthday present!!!), so i started going home. to my profound horror, i found out that all those people there were all off duty okada men, they zoomed off on their okadas and left me alone on that dark road.
I jogged down to the guest house, pounded on the gate. i'd forgotten they lock the gate by 12 midnight and they don't ever open it until 6am. I knock tire, no answer. I didnt carry my phone because of fear of theft.
So i started jogging the 1km distance to the Catholic Corpers lodge

Scare #1
100m down the road, a police pick up[ pulled up beside me, 2 cops jumped out and levelled their Mark IVs at my head! I nearly shit myself. They roughly demanded to know who i was and where was i going? i told 'em i was a corper and i went to watch the match, and that i was heading to the Corpers Lodge. They asked me to reach into my pocket slowly and brin gout my ID card. I did that and gave it to them. One now asked the other one to search me. i'd forgotten that earlier that day i had won a big pocket knife in the Guinness promo and it was still in my back pocket. COme and see the look on their face when they pulled out this wicked looking pen knife. I hastily explained that i won it from the promo. The guy looked at me fo rlike 1 minute (almost shat myself once again) before telling me to go home. i speedily complied!!

Scare #2
About 600m down the road, i was already recovering from the poilce scare when i started really getting scared about how quiet and ghostly the whole place was. all the tales i'd been hearing on flesh-eating cannibals and kidnappers/ritualists started surfacing. it didn't help when i jogged past a house and saw an old woman raking leaves together and burning them. What kind of person would be burning leaves at 12:30am? And she looked so witch-like. the next house had like 3 youths outside talking in hushed tones. all fell silent and watched me jog pass. I come dey fear, come dey regret say i go watch match that day. The next thing i knew, something moving very very fast flew just above my head. you know the kind of noise and disturbance u feel/hear when someone throws a stone very close to your ear? that's what it felt like. But this was somethin gmuch faster and silent.
Every single hair on my body (from my head to my nearly hairless ass) stood on end. see d kind fear wey catch me, eh? I didn't wait to see if it was a bird, an arrow or a low-flying witch. I kicked my palm slippers ahead of me, caught them midair (in a move even Jet-Li couldnt have done) and took to my heels. I'm pretty sure i averaged 50mph!! Even worse, i was running uphill and my heart was pounding like crazy.

Scare #3
I got to the corpers lodge, everyone was sleeping. . .! I nearly renounced Manchester United then and there!

I hammered on the gate and someone finally woke up, where i was led, shaking and gibbering some incomprehensible stuff about witches and policemen and Arrows and bakassi boys. . . the only thing they could make of this was that Man Utd won grin

And that's my worst scare ever!
Absolutely hilarious! Good one!!!

Ah yes, one warning though, learn to spell and pronounce Arsenal properly cos that's my team! kiss

Nigerian candidates slam government in TV debate
Fri 6 Apr 2007, 7:34 GMT

By Tom Ashby

LAGOS, April 6 (Reuters) - Nigerian presidential candidates berated the government for incompetence, corruption and non-performance in a televised election debate on Thursday night that was shunned by the ruling party.

Umaru Yar'Adua, candidate for the ruling People's Democratic Party (PDP), declined the invitation to participate in the live show on privately-owned African Independent Television, and his place at the podium was left empty.

Former army strongman Muhammadu Buhari of the All Nigeria People's Party, the main challenger to the ruling party at this month's election, and Pat Utomi, candidate for the fringe African Democratic Congress, took to the stage.

"The truth is that most Nigerians will not be able to see us because Nigeria is almost in total darkness," said Buhari, in reference to a collapse in power generation over the past few months which has left most Nigerians with only a few hours of mains electricity per week at most.

Others would be unable to watch the debate because they were too poor to afford a television set, he added.

"The incompetence of the Nigerian elite is unprecedented. It is incumbent of anyone who aspires to leadership in this country to immediately check corruption," Buhari said.

Nigeria is the world's eighth largest oil exporter in the world, but most of its 140 million people live in absolute poverty on less than $1 a day.

Elections on April 14 and 21 should produce the first transition from one elected government to another since independence from Britain in 1960.

President Olusegun Obasanjo's election in 1999 ended three decades of almost continuous army dictatorship, and he is constitutionally required to step down after the vote.

HIGH OIL PRICE

"In these eight years, God has been extremely generous to Nigeria with the highest flows of crude oil revenues in the history of this country," Utomi said.

"But poverty is the highest, power is hardly ever available and the quality of life is so low," he added.

Nobody was present to defend the government's record.

A spokesman for Yar'Adua said he missed the debate, which was endorsed by the electoral body, because he was busy with other appointments. A senior official at the television station said the little-known state governor had offered to appear on another programme a week later on his own.

Yar'Adua, whose candidacy rests almost entirely on the backing of Obasanjo, has been campaigning on a platform of extending the government's IMF-backed economic reforms.

These policies have brought budget discipline, debt relief and phenomenal growth in the telecommunications and banking sectors, but failed to pull the majority out of poverty.

Analysts say Yar'Adua will rely on the PDP's deep pockets and unrivalled nationwide network to deliver votes.

Civil society groups have accused Obasanjo of hindering preparations for the landmark polls to help the incumbent party hold onto power.

Buhari, on the other hand, finds his support among millions disaffected by poverty, unemployment and crime.

The former military ruler, whose 20-month rule in the early 1980s was characterised by economic austerity and harsh punishments for crime and corruption, criticised Nigerian governments for submitting to the IMF, and promised more subsidies in agriculture to get young people back to work.

youngies:
After watching the "debate" for two days now, i have concluded that there is no debate afterall. By any standard, I can't call the show of shame going on a debate.

1. The questions are stereotypes.
2. The same questions are being asked all the candidates
3. No hard questions
4. No follow up questions
5. No questions from the audience
6. No questions from callers
7. No questions from candidates to each other

Wonder how they came up with the pairing of candidates. May be they were ceded. Why can't the candidate be paired through an open draw? Of course they wouldn't do that because what if it pairs a Yar'adua with an Utomi or an Atiku with an Okotie? That certainly will be bad market.

I have seen a lot of debates in my life and certainly this does not have any semblance of one. The Lagos Guber debate is a lot better.

This is a sham, an attempt to hoodwink us
Seconded!

I watched the debate, and yes Sunny Okogwu did indeed look (and act) like a clown. I couldn't believe he was serious. A friend of mine was just rolling on the floor dying of laughter. When he was asked a question about Electricity, he brought out a paper contraption he had (shaped like a square box), raised it up with his left hand, pointed to the ceiling and said (not verbatim quote): "Look at the sun, it is free. I will put something between the sun, to capture the power of the sun and give light to Nigeria for free. I will banish night from Nigeria!".

While he said all these, he had on his mouth a kind of smirk that made me wonder if this fellow wasn't actually privy to his own joke.

His attire certainly didn't help matters. As far as clowns go, I have seen very few, but yesterday he added to my list!

Anyhow, that indeed is the beauty of democracy. It's an all-comers affair. If my vote will not count, why can't I at least have some fun?

Thanks all. I got a 98 Camry with only 80,000 miles. I've used it now since September 2006 and it's in top shape.
PhonesRe: How Do I Send Bulk Sms Messages? by agboifo(f): 4:54pm On Mar 31, 2007
If you're willing to pay for the service, try www.kullmessage.com. I registered with them and each sms costs N5. They do not prescribe a minimum amount to purchase or stuff like that. You can either send from their site or download their own software.

At the beginning, I noticed there were delays delivering the ones sent from their site, but faster deliveries using their software. Although their explanation was that political campaign-sms messages were clogging up their system, I thought it was a lame-excuse.

Anyhow, I'm okay now using their downloaded software which sends instantaneously. You can pay in naira to a GTB account. I've used it for almost one month now.

I hope this helps someone.
