After a long, long, agonising wait, the return of the beautiful game has come. Football is back! Well, technically, football has been going on in some Minor leagues, and even the German second division had played prior to the Bundesliga kickoff. But the return of the Bundesliga marks the return of elite football. And now, the first goal has been scored! Guess who? None other than Erling Braut Haaland! The teenage Dortmund sensation has picked up right where he left off, tapping home a low cross from Thorgan Hazard in the 28th minute to open the scoring for Borussia Dortmund in their Derby against Schalke 04. This means that Haaland has now scored the first goal since the return of the Bundesliga. Its also the first goal we will be witnessing across the major five leagues post-coronavirus break. He has now also scored 10 Bundesliga goals this year - more than any other player. Unfortunately there were no fans at the stadium to celebrate with, as matches are being played behind closed doors. But feast assured, Dortmund fans - and football lovers worldwide - will be celebrating that goal wherever they are. Welcome back, Elite football. Welcome back. https://news-af.feednews.com/news/detail/b00383a67a916288560a1f076d992405?client=news

The Republic of Madagascar has offered its herbal drug – COVID Organics (COV) – to Nigeria and other African countries. The drug is for prevention and cure of Coronavirus. Nigeria’s consignment has been sent to Equatorial Guinea from where it will be airlifted to Abuja. For ease of transportation, African countries were divided into zones leading to the freighting of Nigeria’s consignments to Equatorial Guinea. Nigeria’s COVID-19 positive tally moved to 4,399 last night with 248 new cases announced by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC). Lagos recorded 81 cases, followed by Jigawa State 35 and Borno 26 cases to top the chart. Kano recorded 26 cases, followed by Bauchi with 20 cases. There is pressure on the Federal Government by different medical and scientific organizations to allow the National Institute for Pharmaceutical Research and Development (NIPRD) and the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) to subject the drug to further analysis. Some others are pushing for clinical trial of Covid Organics before being used in the country. The Federal Government was yet to take a position as of weekend because the AU has mandated its Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (Africa CDC) to review the scientific data gathered so far on the safety and efficacy of the COVID Organics. The World Health Organisation (WHO) last week insisted that the efficacy of the drug was unproven. Also, as part of steps to contain COVID-19, the Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF) has started negotiating with the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) and National Association of Nigeria Nurses and Midwives (NANNM) on how to source volunteer doctors and health workers. The health workers will help to assist ravaged states in the North-West and North-East especially, Kano, Katsina, Jigawa, Bauchi, Yobe and Borno states. The Chairman of NGF, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, is coordinating the talks with the two professional associations with juicy welfare package. According to a source, who spoke in confidence, the Presidential Task Force (PTF) on COVID-19 has been notified of the offer from Madagascar and arrangements were being made to bring Nigeria’s allocation to Abuja. The source said: “The consignments of the drug are being distributed to different countries in Africa based on zonal grouping. We have been told that Nigeria’s consignment is in Equatorial Guinea from where it will be airlifted to Abuja. “When the herbal drink is brought into the country, we will know the next step. But some medical and scientific organisations are pressurising that the drug be subjected to clinical trial. “Some countries like Tanzania, Congo-Brazzaville, Guinea-Bissau and Equatorial Guinea have subscribed to the drugs. Also, while South Africa has offered to conduct a scientific analysis of the drug, Senegal said it will subject it to clinical trial. “I can assure you that the Federal Government will take the best decision on the drug in the overall interest of Nigerians. “Before any food or drug can be administered in this country, there are certain protocols that must be followed. The government will not circumvent these protocols. We want solution; we want the best for Nigerians.” On April 28, the Chairman of the PTF on COVID-19, Mr. Boss Mustapha said the nation was ready to give Madagascar’s herbal drink a trial. He said: “I want to assure you that whatever is happening in the world, we are mindful of it and we are keeping a tab. “I was reading of the experiences in Madagascar– of why everybody is drinking some solutions that have been prepared. This morning I was sharing with my wife, and I told her that probably I would request that Mr. President allow us import a plane load for a trial. “We are all navigating an unchartered cause. Nobody has ever been on this road. So, every attempt to find solution that would bring succour to our people, be rest assured that this task force is very responsible and we would do everything to ensure that we get what will benefit our people, what will help them in the processes that we find ourselves today.” On the talks with the NMA and NANNM, Dr. Fayemi said: “We have started negotiations on how to secure the services of volunteer health workers to help contain COVID-19 challenges in the North-West and in the North-East. “The reality is that many states in these zones have problem of manpower, we need more volunteer health workers to assist them. We know we can draw these volunteers from the private healthcare sector without hurting the Public Health Sector. “We are ready to offer the volunteers good welfare package, including robust incentives and adequate security. Our ultimate goal is to avert trouble in the affected states; this is why we are pooling resources together.” https://thenationonlineng.net/madagascars-covid-19-cure-drugs-sent-to-nigeria/amp/

Juventus player, Paulo Dybala has recovered from the coronavirus. This was announced by the official Juventus website as the player underwent a double check that saw him test negative and would therefore no longer be subject to home isolation. This will come as a relief to the player and Juventus after the Argentinian tested positive for the fourth time in six weeks towards the end of April. Blaise Matuidi and Daniele Rugani who contracted the coronavirus have also been given the all clear after recovering. The 26 year old spoke out on his experience fighting the disease and how he was struggling to breathe. However, he has claimed that he is feeling much better and he and his girlfriend are no longer showing symptoms. 'Luckily [we are] much better, these days we do not have any symptoms,' Dybala told the club's official Youtube channel towards the end of March. 'I had stronger symptoms, I got tired very quickly, when I wanted to train, I was short of breath after five minutes. There we noticed that something was not right and through the tests the club did we were told that we were positive. 'From there we had more symptoms, such as cough, tired body and when we slept I felt very cold, but from the club they had told us that we were going to be fine so we had to be calm.' This development also means that Dybala can now join up with his teammates who resumed individual training on Tuesday. Giorgio Chiellini, Aaron Ramsey and Leonardo Bonucci were among the top players spotted arriving at their complex as the squad emerge from weeks of isolation over the coronavirus following the top flight's suspension in March. Ramsey and Bonucci were then pictured being put through their paces on the training fields, as the first images emerged of Serie A stars back on the pitch. https://www.independent.co.uk/sport/football/european/paulo-dybala-coronavirus-juventus-recovered-strong-symptoms-a9431011.html

Madagascar Currently is the only country that has won the fight against Covid-19. Madagascar with a land mass of 587,041 square kilometers with a population of over 27 million people.Had it’s first corona virus cases on March 23rd with a total number of 9 confirmed cases in its first day. That looks like a looming danger to the citizens, which spawned fear across every nook and cranny of the nation.Over a period of a month from 23rd March to April 23, the cases came in randomly till they had recorded a total of 122 confirmed cases with the last case on 19th April. Over this period they have resorted to searching several possible ways to treating the infected persons and recording gradual number of recoveries up to date. In general as at today 25th April, they have recorded a total of 61 recoveries and no single death has been recorded Most importantly, it’s been 5 days now and no new cases have been recorded again in the country. What exactly are they doing different? Their president had recently declared that they have found both preventive and curative treatment for the virus. And have declared it publicly with the president seen while tasting the syrup they have discovered from their research lab on their national TV. Activities have returned to normalcy in Madagascar and school children to resume their various schools from Wednesday in the coming week. The medicine which is called “Covid Organic” or “CVO” is made compulsory for the citizens, and to be given free to all school children and most vulnerable citizens while the wealthier fellows to purchase theirs. And all the money that will be made from the sales of the medicine is to be pushed back into their science research institute. Could this be the end of coronavirus in Africa? Well, WHO have not approved the medicine claiming that it was locally made. Really locally made? Is that what WHO have to say? What’s your opinion about this? https://news-af.feednews.com/news/detail/a11bf5df3f8b051ced2f3081a15793db?client=news

But it was moving furiously...I called my partners. We couldn't explain this" One of the farmers, Ette Ubong narrated that in 2012 he had spoted a cat under water, but no one believed him. He said more strange creatures are available in the area as they have thick and old forests. A vaccine against the novel coronavirus may be ready as soon as September, according to a British vaccinologist from Oxford University who is leading one of the most advanced efforts for immunization. Dr. Sarah Gilbert, a professor of vaccinology at Oxford University, told The Times on Saturday that she was “80 percent confident” that a vaccine being developed by her team of researchers would work and would become available to the general public in about five months. Human trials are due to begin in the next two weeks, she indicated. “I think there’s a high chance that it will work based on other things that we have done with this type of vaccine,” Dr. Gilbert told The Times.”It’s not just a hunch and as every week goes by we have more data to look at. I would go for 80 percent, that’s my personal view.” The vaccinologist said she and her team are in talks with the British government to begin production as soon as possible. “We don’t want to get to later this year and discover we have a highly effective vaccine and we haven’t got any vaccine to use,” she was quoted as saying. Over 60 potential vaccine candidates and treatments for coronavirus are being developed in labs around the world, most in pre-clinical stages. At least one vaccine, by US company Moderna, is already being tested in clinical trials which began last month. In Israel, scientists at the state-funded Migal Galilee Research Institutehave said that their vaccine for coronavirus was on track to be ready for testing within “a few weeks” though it won’t be available for months because of the lengthy and sometimes bureaucratic testing and approval process. Pharmaceutical and industry experts have warned that a vaccine may take 12-18 months to develop, following clinical trials and safety approvals. In the US, meanwhile, researchers have opened another safety test of an experimental COVID-19 vaccine, this one using a skin-deep shot instead of the usual deeper jab. “It’s the most important trial that we’ve ever done,” Dr. John Ervin of the Center for Pharmaceutical Research told The Associated Press afterward. “People are beating down the door to get into this trial.” The experiment, using a vaccine candidate developed by Inovio Pharmaceuticals, is part of a global hunt for much-needed protection against a virus that has triggered an economic shutdown and forced people indoors as countries try to stem the spread. Inovio’s study is set to test two doses of its vaccine, code-named INO-4800, in 40 healthy volunteers at the Kansas City research lab and the University of Pennsylvania. Inovio is working with Chinese researchers to also begin a similar study in that country soon. These early-stage studies are a first step to see if a vaccine appears safe enough for larger tests needed to prove whether it will protect. “The good thing is we’ve got a bunch of candidates,” Dr. Anthony Fauci, the US National Institutes of Health’s infectious diseases chief, said during a podcast for the Journal of the American Medical Association Wednesday. Most of the vaccines under development have the same target: A spike protein that studs the surface of the virus and helps it invade human cells. Yet many work in quite different ways, making it crucial to test different options. Inovio researchers packaged a section of the virus’ genetic code inside a piece of synthetic DNA. Injected as a vaccine, the cells act as a mini-factory to produce harmless protein copies. The immune system makes protective antibodies against them — primed if the real virus ever comes along. Inovio research and development chief Kate Broderick likens it to giving the body an FBI wanted poster so it can recognize the enemy. But after the skin-deep injection, researchers must hold a device over the spot that gives a little electrical zap. The synthetic DNA is large when it comes to penetrating human cells, and the pulse helps the vaccine more easily penetrate and get to work, Broderick said. DNA vaccines are a new technology. But Inovio has experimental vaccines against other diseases that are made the same way that have passed initial safety testing. And at least one showed hints that going skin-deep somehow sped the immune system’s development of protective antibodies, University of Pennsylvania’s Dr. Pablo Tebas told The AP. Tebas leads this latest new COVID-19 study. The NIH’s vaccine candidate, manufactured by Moderna, works similarly, except it uses a type of genetic code called messenger RNA and is injected deeper — into the muscle. Neither NIH’s nor Inovio’s potential vaccines are made using the actual virus, meaning there’s no chance of getting infected from the vaccines — and it’s possible to make far more quickly than traditional shots. Separately, an experimental anti-viral drug for patients with severe infections has shown some promise in an early analysis. A new reportpublished in the New England Journal of Medicine tracked 53 people in the US, Europe and Canada who received the Ebola drug remdesevir by US company Gilead Sciences over the course of 10 days. Clinical improvement was observed in 36 of the patients after several weeks. The coronavirus has affected over 1.7 million people worldwide, with over 100,000 deaths and close to 400,00 recoveries. https://thenationonlineng.net/coronavirus-vaccine-may-be-ready-by-september-says-oxford-scientist/amp/ |
Indiana Woman Gives Birth To 11 Baby Boys WITHOUT C-Section Delivery – Indiana doctors are calling it a complete miracle, as well as a world record, as a 42-year-old woman welcomes in 11 healthy, full term baby boys. Maria Hernandes, of Indianapolis, gave birth on Wednesday after undergoing only two hours of labor and a miraculous vaginal birth. She also carried the 11 babies through a 38 weeks gestation period, which is unheard of when you are dealing with a multiple pregnancy. Hernandez and her husband say they had trouble conceiving so decided to undergo in vitro fertilization (IVF), desperate to become parents. Much to their surprise, they got much more than they had hoped for. Six of the 11 boys are said to be identical twins all weighing in between 1 pound – 1.5 pounds. They are currently in stable condition in the neonatal intensive care unit at Riley Children’s Hospital. Doctors were very surprised, most mainly say they were shocked, to have such a successful delivery without caesarian section. We could not stop the babies from coming out,” said Dr. William Roberts. “They literally came out one after another. From the time the first baby came out, and the 11th baby was born, it was only 17 minutes.” The hospital staff says they have contacted Guinness Book of World Records to supply them with this information to have Maria Hernandes and her family registered in the 2015 edition. https://winnaijatv.com/breaking-news-woman-gives-birth-to-11-babies-without-c-section-delivery/amp/

Abraham and Tomori have since shunned Nigeria to commit their international future to the Three Lions while Lookman and Ojo could not make it to England senior team and are now ready to play for Nigeria. Meanwhile, information from England has it that the NFF President, Amaju Pinnick, is seriously working hard to convince Arsenal winger, Bukayo Saka to follow the footsteps of Lookman and Ojo and commit his international future to his fatherland. Pinnick was said to have contacted Saka's relations in England and the player is reported to be thinking of dumping England for Nigeria, any moment from now. |
The Nigerian-born player is an England youth international, who has been approached severally by the NFF to pledge his allegiance to his fatherland. However, Lookman is not the only Nigerian-born England youth player that filled for allegiance switch with FIFA, as two others players' documents, including that of Seyi Ojo are also with FIFA. The 22-year old Leipzig winger has made 31 appearances for various England youth teams and was part of that victorious English U-20 team that won the FIFA World Cup in 2017. Other Nigerians in that winning English U-20 team include Tammy Abraham, Fikayo Tomori, and Seyi Ojo.

After decades of living off the land near isolated village of Dejgah in the Southern Iranian province of Fars, he has now began to look like his surroundings. He has become almost the same colour as the earth around him and he totally blends in with his environment. Local people say they often mistake him for a rock if he remains still. He doesn’t have a house, instead the earth is his home and he lives in a hole in the ground which is not unlike a grave. Sometimes he sleeps in an open brick shack that the villagers constructed for him out of pity. Locally, he is known as Amou Haji. ‘Amou’ is the Farsi term of endearment for a kind old man, the The Tehran Times reports. But the villagers who care for him also say he is a lot happier than some people who live in large homes with comforts and conveniences. Haji doesn’t seem to have a care in the world and has nothing to lose and nothing to fear. Despite his hard life he has lived a lot longer than many in Iran and the West who have access to good food and clean water and the modern medicine. Haji’s epic avoidance of soap and water sets a new record, the previous one was held by 66-year-old Indian man, Kailash Singh, who had not taken a bath over 38 years.
|
There’s been 3,120 Saturday bath nights since but soap has still not touched the hermit’s leather-like skin. Once he claimed a group of young men tried to give him a shower but he escaped before the dreaded water touched him. Local people say he suffered an emotional setback or a broken heart as a teenager and decided to spend the rest of his life alone in the wild. To stay healthy he drinks five litres of water from a rusty oil can every day. And while he might not wash very often he still believes grooming is important and occasionally trims his beard by burning it off over an open flame.
|
The world’s dirtiest man has not had a bath in 60 years but he’s still not given up on finding love. Amou Haji has an aversion to soap and water and even the suggestion of a bath drives him crazy. The 80-year old has lived alone in the Iranian desert for the last six decades but Amou is amorous and looking for love. Not surprisingly he doesn’t have too many friends around for dinner as his favourite meal is rotting porcupine meat. But he does like a sociable smoke inhaling dried animal dung instead of tobacco. Amou’s last wash was way back in 1954 when Elvis Presley just launching rock ‘n’ roll and CIE was still using steam engines to pull its trains. http://news-af.feednews.com/news/detail/5de7ccfcfd16126a0ab51a4e295e04a5?client=news
