The Ogun State government says its strategic interventions towards the development of the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) sub-sector are geared towards laying the foundation for a vibrant and resilient economy. Commissioner for Industry, Trade and Investment, Mr. Adebola Sofela stated this in Isheri during the 2nd Annual Business Fair themed, “Bridging the Gap between Businesses and Communities 2.0” organised by the Rotary Club of Isheri-North, Isheri. Represented by the Director, Industrial Promotion, Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment, Engr. Kehinde Akintomide, Sofela said the Ogun State Small and Medium Enterprises (SME) Financial Empowerment Scheme made up of N2bn MSME Grants and Loans as well as other Business Support programmes were deliberate efforts to enhance the competitiveness of businesses in the State. The Commissioner who reiterated government’s commitment to creating enabling environment added that the government was working on the Small and Medium Enterprises Industrial Land Acquisition Scheme (SILAS), a 1,000 hectare industrial hub which would enable small business owners buy land and establish their businesses at rates lower than market rates. “ Under the visionary leadership of His Excellency, Prince Dapo Abiodun we have embarked on a transformative journey aimed at creating an enabling environment for businesses to thrive, fostering entrepreneurship, and uplifting our communities. We are laying the foundation for a vibrant and resilient economy,” Sofela said. Speaking on accessing the government interventions, Sofela urged interested entrepreneurs to ensure they register their businesses with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) as well as on the Business Premises Permit (BPP) portal stressing that formalisation of businesses was one of the major conditions for accessing such interventions. Reacting to the call for protection of the local adire fabric from foreign imitations, the Commissioner said the government was working on making laws which would prohibit the sale of fake adire fabric imported from abroad adding that Abiodun-led administration had upscaled and inaugurated the Modern Adire Shared facility at Asero and the Ogun Fashion hub to support the development of adire business as well as the fashion industry. Sofela while lauding the Rotary Club Isheri North for organising the Rotary Business Fair called on the exhibitors at the programme to participate at the forthcoming Gateway International Trade Fair scheduled to hold at the M.K.O International Trade Fair Complex, Laderin Abeokuta between April 19 and 29, 2024 assuring them of a business transforming experience. In his address, President, Rotary Club Isheri North, Rotarian Daniel Nwejike said the major goal of the Business Fair is to create a platform for MSMEs to earn brand recognition and network appealing to the government to extend its grants and other interventions to businesses represented at the Fair.

A member of the House of Representatives representing Abeokuta South, Hon. Afolabi Moruf Afuape, has renewed his commitment to prioritize the welfare of his constituents. Hon Afuape gave the assurance during the distribution of food palliatives in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security, aims to support the constituents. Expressing gratitude to attendees including the Council of Baales, the Community Development Council (CDC), Student Representatives, People With Disabilities (PWD), and the Ogun Progressives Movement (OPM), Hon. Afuape reaffirmed his dedication to enhancing the welfare of the people. He emphasized the importance of equitable distribution of the provided rice, beans, and additional garri, stressing that these provisions are funded by taxpayers. Burial arrangements for late special Apostle Isaiah Oluyomi Aderibigbe will begin on Wednesday, 3rd April, 2024 with a service of songs. Venue of the programme is the C & S movement Church, Surulere District, Ilepa Branch, Ilepa, Ogun State beginning at 3 pm. A statement by the family of the deceased indicates that there will be another service of Songs and Christian wake at House 2 Red Beryl Street, Treasure Island Estate by Orile Imo Junction along Abeokuta Sagamu Expressway, Ogun State by noon. The statement adds that commendation/ burial service will be held on Friday, 5th April at his residence 2 Kingdom close, Off Arinko Road, Sango Ota, Ogun State beginning from 9 O'clock in the morning. It says that reception will take place immediately after the interment at His Place event centre, fellowship bus stop, the ambassadors college Junction, off Idi iroko road, Ota, Ogun State from 1pm. Ogun state government has promised to would revive the moribond state sports festival which serves as a prelude to the National Sports Festival. The sports Commissioner for Development, Mr. Wasiu Isiaka disclosed this on Tuesday at the 2nd biennial inter house sports competition of Vivanis Group of Schools held at the Navy Secondary School, Abeokuta. Mr Isiaka said the state sports festival which was last held during the Otunba Gbenga Daniel administration would avail the state government to discover talent and nurture them to stardom. He explained that, this would bring competitiveness among the state athletes that will represent the state for the National Sports Festival. He said arrangement is in top gear with the state Ministry of Education and State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) to organize talent hunts among primary and secondary school pupils in the state to improve sports at the grassroots level. "It is our responsibility to nurture them to stardom. We are meeting SUBEB and education ministry to see how we can bring back school sports. The government is determined to improve sports, there's a specific plan. We are bringing talent hunts between primary and secondary schools. "The government is ready to do everything possible to engage them. Sports have a unique way of bringing people together. We are planning a lot of things because we have the ability to train these talwnts. We are trying to make sure there is synergy between the private schools and the state government. "The government has concluded plans to bring back State sports festival, we are going to return it and plan is on the way." Isiaka however said the sports ministry would begin open trials for athletes that will represent the state at the National Sports Festival. Speaking earlier, the Chairman, Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Ogun state chapter, Michael-Azeez Ogunsiji charged the state government to begin early preparation for the forthcoming national festival. Ogunsiji maintained that early camping of the athletes would ensure the success of the state at the biennial sporting event. In his welcome remark, the Director of College, Vivanis Group of Schools, Mr. Desmond Nwachukwu commended the state government for creating an enabling environment for sports to thrive. Nwachukwu called on the state government to beam its searchlight for talents among private secondary schools in the state, saying this would give every parents a sense of belonging.

Participants at the forthcoming 13th Gateway International Trade Fair stand the chance of winning daily prizes and a grand prize of two-bedroom flat through the programme's Raffle draw just as the Ogun State government will also provide free buses to take participants from Kuto, Abeokuta to the M.K.O Abiola Trade Fair Complex, Laderin, Abeokuta and back to town between April 19 and 29, 2024 when the event holds. Commissioner for Industry, Trade and Investment, Mr. Adebola Sofela disclosed this in Abeokuta during a Press Conference jointly held by the organisers of the programme, the Ogun State government and the Ogun State Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (OGUNCCIMA) saying that the innovations were part of government efforts towards holding a successful trade Fair and improving the number of participants ever recorded in the history of the Trade Fair. Sofela who was represented by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Industry, Trade and Investment, Mrs. Oluyemisi Somorin-Dawodu said participants across the 20 Local Government Areas of the State would stand the chance of winning the prizes by purchasing at least a N500 raffle ticket noting that tickets would be available for sale across the State as from next week. He added that the grand prize which would be won on the last day of the event was donated by Governor Dapo Abiodun to further aid the development of the Fair and also assist in the economic development of the residents of the State. The Commissioner stated that some other innovations introduced to boost this year's edition of the Trade Fair include the provision of an entertainment village where participants and visitors can relax with their loved ones as well as a sick bay which would avail visitors and participants the opportunity of medical checkup. The Commissioner who emphasized that this year’s Trade Fair would be different from past editions disclosed that work were in the pipeline to ensure the products sold at the exhibition are more affordable than at regular points of sale adding that government was already recording successes as many industries operating in the State have signified interest in participating at the event. “I am pleased to emphasize that the Ogun State Government is fully committed to providing a conducive environment for the success of this event. We recognise the pivotal role that such events play in driving economic growth, creating employment opportunities and enhancing the competitiveness of our local industries” Sofela said. The draw for the 5th edition of Egba Youths Football championship has been held in Abeokuta with a call on the participating teams to demonstrate the spirit of sportsmanship and desist from acts that can truncate the success of the competition. The draw held at the Abule Egba and Lounge, Oke Lantoro, Abeokuta attracted key stakeholders in the round leather game as well as representatives from the 28 participating teams. One of the organizers, Chief Olalekan Shoyinka while reeling the rules guilding the competition implored the participating teams to adhere strictly with the laid downs rules in bid to achieve smooth championship. Children Shoyinka noted that the championship had lived up to its billing especially in building cordial relationship among the players as well as the communities. The former President Olusegun Aremu Obasanjo Annual Golf Tournament for professionals and amateurs has been scheduled for August 2024 to further entrench the global values inherent in the game, promote healthy living and encourage youth participation. The former President disclosed this when the new Executive Committee of Abeokuta Golf Club paid him a courtesy visit at his Pentagon resident, Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library (OOPL), Abeokuta. Chief Obasanjo appreciated the Executive Committee and members of the Golf Club for honouring him with the annual Olusegun Obasanjo Professional/Amateur (OBJ Pro-Am) Golf Tournament as a major event at Abeokuta Golf Club, assuring them that this year tournament would be eventful and different from the previous ones. He said: "I'm okay with the scheduling of my annual golf tournament for August this year. As a ardent lover of sports, I think sport is the best way of promoting healthy living and if anyone is considering what to be doing as hobby at old age, I think it must be sport, especially the game of golf which is very good for old age. Sport is what I am doing mostly now with my age. Although fellowship and social interactions with people within the sports communities are also good, you also have an opportunity to make an impact in life". Chief Obasanjo, earlier, welcomed the Executive Committee of Abeokuta Golf Club to his house and congratulated the Captain and other members of the Committee for the successful elections that brought them to office. He gave them the assurance that he would continue to support the club and promote the game of golf at all times. Leading the new Executive, the Captain, Professor Kola Adebayo , congratulated Chief Obasanjo on his recent birthday celebration, saying that the annual golf tournament has gained wider recognition and attracted participations of golfers across and outside the country, hoping that this year's edition would be more classical. Captain Adebayo commended the commitment of former President and the First Bank of Nigeria, the principal sponsor of the tournament for gradually turning it to a major tournament that golfers look forward to play in the country.

The Ogun State government says it will leave no stone unturned to ensure the forthcoming 13th Gateway International Trade Fair which is billed to hold between April 19 and 29, 2024 at the M.K.O Abiola International Trade Fair Complex, Abeokuta succeeds and exceeds past achievements. Commissioner for Industry, Trade and Investment, Mr. Adebola Sofela made this known in Abeokuta during an operational meeting with the executives of the OGUNCCIMA in preparation for the Fair stating that work was on-going to ensure the event meets the needs of exhibitors and participants as well as the aspirations of the State. Sofela who was also in company of the Special Adviser to the Governor on Industry, Trade and Investment, Mrs. Oluyemisi Somorin-Dawodu and the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, Dr. Olu. Ola. Aikulola said the Trade Fair which is organized annually by the Ogun State Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (OGUNCCIMA) in collaboration with the State government would be different from past editions adding that the event would be an improved avenue for businesses to showcase their products. He charged members of the OGUNCCIMA to work with the State government and do things differently in actualizing targets for the Fair noting that doing so would be mutually beneficial for government and the Business Membership Organisations(BMOs). “We want to have a Trade Fair different from what we have been having and the Governor is interested in the quality and expansiveness of the Trade Fair. It must be different from the norm. It must not only meet the aspiration of the OGUNCCIMA and exhibitors but the expectation of the State. We need to work together and if we can do this I have no doubt that the Trade Fair would be successful,” the Commissioner said. Also speaking, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Industry, Trade and Investment, Mrs. Oluyemisi Somorin-Dawodu said the government was working on attracting participants and visitors to the Fair through increased exhibitors and product offerings, robust publicity, and a more effective transportation system which would ease movement of visitors to the Trade Fair Complex. Somorin-Dawodu who also disclosed that the event would go beyond exhibition of wide variety of products added that the Trade Fair would take an improved dimension this year with the introduction of an entertainment village and raffle draw programme which would afford the people of the State the opportunity to win a grand prize of a two-bedroom bungalow. “We decided that this year we want to make the Fair bigger and better. One of the things we have introduced this year is the raffle draw that will help to bring more people to the Trade Fair and there will be daily prizes. The main prize is a two-bedroom bungalow. And we have also introduced the Entertainment Village where we are going to be selling drinks, food, etc there will be good music and a live band”. In his contribution, President, OGUNCCIMA, Engr. Mike Akingbade who lauded the support of the Ogun State government towards the yearly improvement of the Trade Fair assured that the members of the Council would work with an open mind towards holding a more improved Trade Fair.

In the bid to cushion the effect of the current economic hardship in the country, the Ogun State Government has commenced the distribution of rice palliatives to the residents of the state. The distribution started with Muslim faithful who are currently observing this year's Ramadan fast with thousands of bags of rice allocated to mosques, inluding Kobiti Central Mosque, Secretariat Central Mosque and Sa'adatul Abadiyya Mosque, Leme, all in Abeokuta. The distribution at the secretariat mosque, became an atmosphere of joy and excitement for Muslims who came to observe the Jumat prayer. Addressing the congregation, after the Jumat, the Deputy Governor, Mrs Noimot Salako-Oyedele, thanked Muslims for their support in prayers since 2019 till date, urging them not to relent but continue to support the Abiodun-led government for a successful 2nd term tenure. "The state governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun do not take your prayers and support for granted. Your prayers were what have been keeping this administration going. So I want to appeal to you to accept this gift wholeheartedly," she said. The deputy governor urged the congregants to shun all immoral act that can hinder their prayers in this month of Ramadan. One of the beneficiaries, Mrs Atoke Adebisi Ogunseun, appreciated Governor Abiodun for the gesture, praying that Almighty Allah will continue to guide him and grant him the required wisdom to take the state to a greater height. At the Kobiti Central Mosque, Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Ganiu Hamzat, who represented Governor Abiodun, explained that the gesture was part of government's commitment to the welfare of the citizenry, even as he promised more distribution of palliatives to the people. He enjoined them to use the Ramadan period to pray fervently for the peace, tranquility and progress of the country. Speaking On behalf of other beneficiaries, Mr. Musbau Abiola and Mrs. Mulikat Folarin expressed gratitude to the state government for the palliative, pledging their continuous support to the government. At the Sa'adatul Abadiyya Organisation of Nigeria National Mosque, Leme, the Senior Consultant to Governor Abiodun on Media, Ambassador Tunde Oladunjoye, said the gesture was in line with the state government's agenda to help cushion the high cost of food in the country. Oladunjoye also added that the state government is poised to continue to look after the welfare of the people of the state. In his message, the Chief Imam of Sa'adatul Abadiyya Organisation of Nigeria National Mosque, Alhaji Abdul-Lateef Ismail, commended Governor Abiodun for looking after the welfare of his people by distributing food stuff palliative to Muslim faithful in the Mosque. He added that the gesture would go a long way in assisting many homes. Responding, a beneficiary, Akeem Durowoju expressed happiness at the kind gesture extended to him by the governor. He commended Governor Abiodun for looking after the welfare of his people. As part of efforts to promote and develop game of golf across the State, the Olowu of Owu kingdom, Oba Professor Saka Matemilola, has assured members of Abeokuta Golf Club that he fully supports the continuation of his Annual Coronation Golf tournament. The monarch gave the assurance when the Executive Committee members of Abeokuta Gulf Club paid him a courtesy in his palace, Oke Ago-Owu, Abeokuta. Oba Matemilola stated that the game of golf was one of the fastest means of wooing investors to develop the State and enhance its socio-economic growth. He called on the members of the public to look beyond elitist part of the game, adding that there were lots of opportunities embedded in the game apart from the social and business relationships which could be used to develop individual lifestyle. His words "the game of golf goes beyond elitist view. It is a game that should be embraced by everybody and is a game for everybody. If caddies, artisans among other people from all walks of life can play it and enjoy the value of it, then itis for everybody. " Earlier, the Club Captain Professor Kola Adebayo had appreciated the Monarch for being part of the Club since he ascended the throne of his forefathers as Olowu of Owu kingdom. The Captain noted that since the first Olowu Coronation Golf Tournament was held in Abeokuta Golf Club during the Kabiesi's installation, it has been marked in the Country golf calendar and the club want the tourney to continue as an annual event. In its drive towards boosting non-oil exports in Ogun State, the State Committee on Export Promotion (SCEP) says its collaborative efforts with the Nigerian Export Promotion Council (NEPC) has led to the training of over 1,000 exporters and intending exporters on the exportation of different products. The SCEP is made up of representatives of relevant Ministries, Departments and Agencies involved in the process of exportation of goods working in collaboration with the NEPC. Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Industry Trade and Investment, Dr. Olu. Ola. Aikulola who also doubles as the Chairman, SCEP made this known in Abeokuta during the Committee meeting held for the first quarter of 2024 stating that the trainings cut across various products and value chains including adire, shea, cocoa, cashew and others. “The SCEP has worked hand in glove with the NEPC which has led to the training of over 1,000 exporters and Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in Ogun State. Over 300 entrepreneurs were trained on adire exportation, over 100 MSMEs were trained on the use Digital E-Commerce for export through Amazon, over 150 farmers and processors were trained on cocoa value chain export with input distributed to participants.” “Also, I must add that over 200 corps members were trained on utilizing Digital Space to export. There were also trainings for over 150 cashew value chain stakeholders and 50 MSMEs on Horticultural/Agro-Produce Export. 30 MSMEs were also trained on non-conformity in shea products export among others” the chairman said. Aikulola who lauded the NEPC State Co-ordinator, Mrs Fransisca Odega for her efforts added that the achievements thus far recorded were not limited to trainings as exporters and MSMEs in the State have been assisted to acquire international product certifications such as the Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP), Food and Drug Administration Export Certificate for Food, ISO 22000 and Kosher. Encouraging intending exporters to export their products formally and register with the NEPC, the SCEP chairman said five exporters were sponsored on international certification programme with certification of their products on the global market while another set of ten exporters from the State participated in the East Meet West Trade Missions to Nairobi, Kenya held last year. Vice President Kashim Shettima has commended the collaborative efforts of the Ogun State Government in assisting the Federal Government to achieve its dream for Mico, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) with ease. Kashim who stated this at the Second Expanded National Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Business Clinic held in Abeokuta, also commissioned the state-of-the-art commissioned the Ogun Fashion Hub which has about 200 state-of-the-art tailing machines, at the Old OGTV Auditorium and the Modern Adire Shared Facility, Asero which was given a face-lift and equipped with modern facilities. Speaking at the event, Shettima said that 200 entrepreneurs at the Modern Adire Shared Facility would each get a grant of N100,000 each, pointing out that they would be exempted from paying rent for a period of one year. He also added that each exhibitors at the Expanded National MSMEs Business Clinics would get N150,000 grants to further boost their businesses. Describing Prince Dapo Abiodun as one of the best Governors in Nigeria, the Vice President commended the efforts of Ogun State Government on MSMEs operation just as he reiterated the commitment of President Tinubu-led administration to grow the MSMEs sub-sector and the economy in general. "The consolidated efforts serve as a facilitator which would lead to a robust environment for our MSMEs to grow. In his address, Governor Abiodun disclosed that the State government in view of present economic condition would support small businesses with a N2bn conditional grant through which 10,000 MSMEs would be empowered with a N100,000 grant each while 2,000 Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) would each get N500,000 grant to aid their businesses. Governor Abiodun added that as part of his administration's first phase of intervention, the informal sector would also benefit as 5,000 market women would each get N50,000 to boost their trading activities while students would also benefit from the government cash grant. Abiodun, who lauded the Federal Government for organising the Business Clinic, said his administration remained focused on creating an enabling environment for MSMEs development through improved access to finance, land rebates, improved infrastructure and security of lives and property. He revealed that the state in its drive to harness the benefits of African Continental Free Trade Agreement (AfCFTA), the government through its SME Industrial Land Administration Scheme (SILAS) would establish a 1,000 hectare SME Industrial Park. Noting that the park would be available to small business owners at lower market rates, with benefits such as Certificates of Occupancy and other incentives, including rebates on taxes and land use charge. In his welcome address, Commissioner for Industry, Trade and Investment, Mr. Adebola Sofela, said the Business Clinics was organised to address challenges inhibiting the growth of MSMEs, adding that the inauguration of the two projects would impact the State economy. A traditional ruler in Obafemi-Owode Area of Ogun State and Baale of Fowowawo village, near Magbon Etido, Chief Waheed Muraino has raised an alarm over the use of some naval personnel by land grabbers to terrorize the community. The Baale alleged that the Naval officers have stationed themselves in the village on the order of one Sufi Taiwo and Ayinde Ogunleye to hijack the community land. Chief Muraino explained that he had obtained a judgement on the said land against the Ogunleye family in 2015. He added that, the community equally got a boundary number from the Ogun State Magistrate Court in 2022 on the said land against the Ogunleye family. The Baale added that another judgement was delivered by the Ogun State High Court, Abeokuta, on April 20, 2015, in favour of the Agbeje Family, reaffirming its ownership of the land. He stated further that since the loss in court, Sufi Taiwo, Ayinde Ogunleye and Adisa Ogunleye, had sought the help of the naval personnel aiding forcible entry on the judgment land, as well as harassing, intimidating and assaulting residents of Fowowawo Village. Chief Muraino alleged that, the Naval officers have been engaging in illegal dredging of sand and destruction of farmlands. In a letter dated February 8, 2024 and signed by the NUJ Secretary, Bunmi Adigun, the bodies are; the management committee and the advisory council. According to the letter, a former Chairman of the State Council of NUJ, and former Permanent Secretary, Mr. Demola Badejo will chair the management committee that oversee the resources accruable to the fund. Other members of the management committee are a two time Executive Member of the the Union and Permanent Secretary in Ogun State, Mr. Kehinde Onasanya as well as Doyin Jibowo and Mrs. Doyin Oloruntola of the National Association of Women Journalists, Ogun State Chapter. Other members include the NUJ Chairman, Secretary and Treasurer. The Advisory Council which will complement the management committee, will be chaired by veteran journalist and royal father, Olufemi Ogunleye while other members will include a former chairman of Ogun NUJ, Mr Eddie Aina, former council chairman and senior media consultant to Governor Dapo Abiodun, Comrade Tunde Oladunjoye, CEO of Rockcity FM, Mr Niran Malaolu, radio broadcaster and founder of Women Radio, WFM 97.1, Mrs. Toun Okewale-Sonaya and former presidential spokesman, Mr. Reuben Abati. Ahead of the National Sports Festival billed for November 5, 2024, the Ogun State Boxing Association on Saturday gathered elite boxers across the length and breadth of the state on a free trial. The boxers numbering about 69 stormed the Alake Sports Complex, Ijeja from different parts of the state to compete for selection. The trial was part of the selection process for the 2024 National Sports Festival. According to the training coordinator, Mrs. Yinka Adeoti, the 69 boxers consisted of 53 male and 16 female boxers. Mrs. Adeoti explained that, in the female category, six boxers competed in the 48kg, two in the 50kg, two in the 54kg, another two bouts in the 57kg, while the last four boxers competed in the 60kg. In the male category, six boxers competed in the 48kg, eight duels in the 51kg, while two boxers bout in the 54kg. In 57kg, four boxers competed in the two bouts, with additional six boxers exchanging punches in the 60kg, while 10 boxers competed in the 63.5kg Four boxers competed in the 67kg, two boxed up in the 75kg, while another two boxers competed 86kg. Coach Adeoti pointed that 35 among the 69 boxers registered for the trials have successfully qualified for the next round of trials billed to hold soon. She added that, the state would compete in the 25 category bouts highlighted for the festival with 12 female and 13 male boxers respectively. She noted that, the trial exercise was to ensure that the best boxers were selected for the Nigeria Olympics. My name is Bunmi Adigun and the Secretary of the Nigeria Union of Journalists NUJ Ogun State Council, I work with the Ogun State Television. I covered the 66th Birthday and Conferment of Chieftaincy title on the Govenor of Osun State, Senator Ademola Adeleke by Oba Adeyemi Adekeye, Abepa of Joga Orile as the Baba Oba A colorful event which attracted so many dignatries from with the state and outside but majorly from Osun State maybe. I was there to cover the event for my station which duly paid for, so if not for this I have no business and I won't even near Oke Ata not to talk of Joga Orile The Governor was amiable but all the Security details were unruly, they started behaving anyhow immediately their Governor arrived, pushing and harassing every Journalists, even those who came with other special Guests from Osun State They pushed my Cameraman and other camera men, thought that was enough until they got to where we were standing, I was harassed, embarrassed and they nearly tore my cloth. We dragged as you can see in this video taken by one of us who disguised It was so tough as if it was a campaign gathering, a social gathering it was and one could imagine how it would have been in Osun State I tried to get to those who harassed us, then I noticed they were putting on a different uniform from the normal police uniform we all know, bellaruslike, no name tag, they were on nosemask and holding petal like they were sent to Journalists I was manhandled and roughened and imagined what will happen to those without tags and any means of identification at an event of such Still not feeling fine but I need to drop this for the world to know how the so called Police who are attached to Special Nigerians behave at times |

The newly elected National President of Macjob Grammar School Old Student Association ( MAGSOSA), Mr. Babajide Abiodun has promised to initiate more developmental projects in the School to complement the various existing projects of the outgoing executives. The president made this known at the Annual General Meeting (AGM)/ Election of the new executives held at Macjob Grammar School, Onikolobo, Abeokuta. He said with his experience as the former National Secretary of the Association in the last four year, new ideas would be initiated, adding that the Association is blessed with human and material resources that can facilitate monumental development in the school. " The Association is bless with human and material resources and now, I will make sure that all MACJOBIANS work as one unifying force to bring back the glory of Macjob Grammar School and I also want to assure all our members in the diaspora that the constitution will be carefully look into to accommodate them in the next coming election". Babajide said. He urged all MACJOBIANS sets to join hands with the new executives to move the school forward. Abiodun called on MACJOBIANS both home and in diaspora to be a good ambassador of the school. Abiodun said more intervention programme would spring up which include payment of private teachers for the development of the students, incentives for the hardworking teachers to mention but a few would also continue, stressing that MAGSOSA would also witnessed a great turnaround during his administration. While appreciating all members in particular the MAGSOSA elders and the outgoing executives for the huge turnout, Abiodun seeks for their advice and total support for the new executives members to succeed, saying that with unity, love and commitment, the Association would achieve more. The event witnessed presentation of awards to best performing sets in presence of some old studentd in attendance, such as, Mr. Adedayo Somoye a former Permanent Secretary, Ogun State, Civil Service Commission and member of MAGSOSA, 1982 set, Prince Olaniyi Sobulo A Principal General,1982 set, Chief Rafiu Ayorinde,1957 set, Chief Funmi Alabi, 1971 set, Bar. A Non-profit organization, Accurate Creative Minds Foundation has unveiled a State-of-the-art development centre for youths in Abeokuta, Ogun state capital. Unveiling the Development Centre, the founder, Dr. Babatunde Odedele explained that the centre was dedicated to fostering intellectual growth and awareness among the youth. Dr. Odedele stressed that, the centre would serve as a hub for various programmes aimed at empowering the youth, including training programmes, book club career counseling, professional certification, networking opportunities, and coaching services. Other programmes according to the founder are; workshops and seminars, leadership development, skill enhancement, assessment and evaluation. He said, “We are not just opening a center; we are inaugurating a future filled with endless possibilities for the youth.” He added that, the foundation upholds core values of empowering the youth, transforming their ideas and dreams into reality. He pointed out that, Accurate Creative Minds Foundation (ACMF) is committed to empowering and nurturing the creative potential of the youth, with a focus on education, skill development, and mentorship. The General Manager, Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library (OOPL), Youth Development Centre, Miss Elizabeth Amodu noted that the youth represent an immense value potential that government institutions should nurture and invest on. Speaking on the topic of the lecture, “The Significant Roles Of Youth Development Centres In The Economic Advancement Of The Nation”, Miss Amodu pointed out that the establishment of Youth development centres was to provide solutions to some challenges confronting the nation. She emphasized that, the essence of youth development centre in economic advancement of a nation was to divert the youth away from social vices that may lead them to destruction, and channel them into more productive ventures and systems thereby reducing crime rate in the nation.

Ogun State Government has commenced a solar-powered street lights-up project across the state as part of measures to ensure the safety and security of the citizenry. The move is coming on the heels of recent arrests of vandals stealing street light cables and other accessories along the Sagamu Interchange-Abeokuta Expressway by security agents, with one of the criminals nabbed for stealing a transformer. Speaking with newsmen in Abeokuta, the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Energy Matters, Mr. Oluwafemi Omisanjo explained that the persistent vandalism of government assets, especially the many street lights on the highways across the state, had necessitated the current administration to seek an alternative to the generator-powered streets lights. Consequently, the Prince Dapo Abiodun-led administration, he said, decided to introduce a more secure and sustainable solution, adding that a pilot scheme of the solar-powered streetlight has commenced in some parts of Abeokuta, the state capital. Omisanjo said the government will replace the street lights on Sagamu Interchange-Abeokuta Expressway with a solar-powered system. The government, he added, is also embarking on a full-scale analysis of the planned deployment of the newly introduced solar-powered street lights to replace the current ones across the state. |
