[quote author=karnap post=94828403]I believe the problem with Nigeria police started with recruitment. Due diligence is needed for this kind of jobs. Policemen, armies, custom officers ,etc are as important as studying medicine in the schemes of things. Chaffs shouldn't be found near these jobs but in Nigeria,it doesn't work that way, any dullard can be found here working with them, they call it connection, whether you know the job or not,as far as you know some one who know one oga ,you are good, ........" They pay huge sums to get the job + to get posted to desired juicy department/locations. Ask around you will shocked at the dept of the rot. |

MAGG0T:Those ones are innocent nah! Not good. You won't be different from them that are maiming and killing our youths who have not been convicted of any crime. BTW, I learnt these guys have amassed much wealth through illicit activities; buildings, hotels, exotic cars etc way in excess of their emoluments. Going after/exposingthe proceeds of their criminality may be a better idea. They live amongst us. All theft would be in vain and serve as deterrence to others. After all they can't complaint since the source of the money is tainted and indefensible. Their properties should be forfeited to the Federal Government. Also, their commanding officers should be exposed to face possibility of Visa restrictions. Exposure is key to reining in these government armed criminals in uniform. They are just after making money at all costs. If you walk into any Police station to incident a case, they charge hefty fees before undertaking any investigation. If the opponent pays more, your case is doomed! Those who know, know this,! 1 Like |

[quote author=daddytime post=94652658] "Always get educated and acquainted with issues to avoid embarrassing yourself in a public space as huge as this." Don't mind him. Is it Abuja Hotel that they were supposed to represent Edo people. They didn't learn from history, Saraki emergence as leader of the Senate. Is Abuja their duty post? I liken their situation to students abandoning their examination hall seeking favour from the examiner or invigilator at a different venue. They lost out due to their fixation on planting themselves in key positions and later impeaching the governor should he deviate from the pact with Osho. They didn't know when to retreat in the face of defeat as real warriors would. Very myopic Representatives. 1 Like |

[quote)....... these officers in the godamnnn street do remit to senior officers That's the Crux of the problem. The men on the beat remit stipulated fees to their bosses for them to remain team players. Will the bosses forego these huge sums The only solution I see is concerted action by citizens against this impunity. None of our young men and women are safe. My daughter's friend was profiled as a Yahoo boy's girlfriend as she about to board a Keke at Allen! From when my son turned sixteen, six footer, fluffy looking, he is been accosted on the street thrice when on errand for me. I mean, No fancy clothing/phone. Just a regular guy o. Our sons are not safe. Fundamental human rights must be enforced. Prof. Osinbajo, please rise to the occasion and save our youths from Police torture, extortion and executions. Too many have died! |
Politics / Re: Governors Back SARS Ban by airoport: 6:33am On Oct 06, 2020 |
Many people commenting have not yet experienced the brutality of the Nigerian Police speakless of SARS. SARS is profiling and trailing young men who appear successful. On Friday, at Oba Akran, I parked and waited for my son to use the ATM, their vehicle stopped, 2 of their skirted around my car, peer at me and I peered back, steadily. They left. Another officer came again, moved round the car and also left. I guess because I am female they didn't make their move. If it was my young son on the driver's seat, what do you think would have happened? Moreover, on Fridays you see them all over town disturbing people, causing traffic. I learnt those guys have to deliver a certain amount weekly to their bosses or they would be transferred out. They lobby/pay to get posted there. And if no armed robbery cases are reported, they go out to get CASES and make money (Rob) at the citizens' expense with government issued arms!. Now as to those saying it's campaign for freedom for fraudsters, the hard working Nigerians that have been robbed by SARS at gun point with POS or ATM, are they also into fraud? What about fundamental human rights? Should they be the accusers and the judge of citizens? Too many innocent people are in prison because they either refused or couldn't afford to bribe to the Police. Some, their relations don't even know where they are. They were arraigned as they failed to bribe their way out. A visit to the two prisons in Lagos State will convince you. Or you can ask any lawyer or human rights activists or faith organization near you. I urge Nigerians to fight for our fundamental human rights against the excesses of all men/women in uniform. It's getting out of hand and ANYONE can be a victim. If they refuse to stop, they may experience UNEXPECTED backlash from frustrated citizens. After all, they live amongst us and have families. Their impunity must stop, they can't be behaving like brigands and not expect resistance. |

EastGold:It's just so sad that people refuse to take care. This is just a case of recklessness in quest to be the smarter driver. Even to wait 1 to 2 minutes at traffic light is an issue. At any railway crossing point, no one should wait on the track whether a train is in view or not. Whenever I pass there, I always wait for the vehicles in front to go through whilst those behind mewould impatiently hoot as if I am a dullard! Just imagine the sorrow in the family of the deceased. Nairalanders, let's be a light to Nigeria. We can be better off, if educate ourselves and eschew all the negative tendencies. 2 Likes |
