Daddysidhan:Not ONE can be trusted. Even if you're related by blood, they will cleverly exit the investigation team, push your case to another officer to handle. That way, you will still pay! Those who have had encounters, know this. Imagine trying to use the lawyer to take everything from him! |
Police brutality instigated the crisis. Their arrogance and unrepentant attitude fuelled it. Their further brutality (and killings of protesters with the army joining in the slaughter) brought out the beast in every one on the streets. They have been an enemy of law abiding citizens and tool of government. The violent protesters know them. Those who speak well of Nigeria Police are yet to encounter them. Now, the question is, do they want us to pamper them despite their atrocities? The politicians they serve to the detriment of Nigerians should pamper them. And to think that the peaceful protesters even advocated better pay and conditions of service for them! Until they start behaving well, carrying out their constitutional duties whilst respecting human rights, they should not expect any respect or consideration from citizens Their haughtiness caused a lot of avoidable deaths, injuries loss of properties, and almost crumbled Nigeria. Save for a FEW, Nigeria Police are very greedy people, male or female. Those who know, know this! |
uuzba:True talk, area boys are their ATM. If they are jailed, who will oil their pockets when they are broke and go "araiding"? |
Gandollaar:Heard he has a stake in it. Maintains 2 permanent suites. Could most likely have metamorphosed into a corporate conduit pipe, since it's so visible, and susceptible to attack. Oligarchs have foresight and have several layers of cover via companies. |
RedPanthar:Graded oil dey your head! Many here haven't even reasoned it that this is power play gone wrong. A re-enactment of occupy Nigeria boomerang. In the coming days, those in shock and grief may speak. To those ostriches spewing tribal accusations, well done. You all knew what went down. Those who know, know this! |
Omoslim26:They are also protesters! VIOLENT PROTESTERS! They view anyone who has more than them an enemy. What is playing out is Class war. They hear about the billions everyday and yet can't partake. They are jostling for their share, they don't care whether you label them criminals or not. So, civil law and order must be enforced. Police should not shy away from their duty due to the bashing they have gotten these past 2 weeks. They can redeem their image by professional dischage of their duty. What do think is the origin of Boko Haram, before it became a political tool? |
BIGGESThead6:Shun hatred and bigotry. Those houses nko? Have you not seen looting and subsequent burning?? Even high court was looted and burnt. Police should return to their duty posts, they didn't resign, they are still on salary. They should show remorse by being firm, professional and proactive . Their brutality caused the present crisis. They can still gradually redeem their image by dutifully doing the needful. |
snowat:Relax, think deeper (agreement, deception and betrayal in power play) and you will figure it out. If I spell it out for you, you won't fully appreciate what's go on! |
snowat:Think deep, you will work it out yourself. |
hammer3:20/10/2020; Power play gone wrong. Think deep. Those who know, know what played out. |
It's shocking that many still do not understand what caused the aftermath of the massacre. Instead the tribal bashing and invalid conclusions her. Now a little mental exercise. Why did the peaceful protesters ignore tfe curfew? What assurances did they have? Why do think people are so angry? Why the backlash/outrage against Tinubi worldwide? Why was the infrared camera removed before hand? . Why did the governor order switching off of the billboard lights. Why did the governor initially deny the fatalities? Why did Femi Adesina allude to regime change as ulterior motive for the protests? The known casualties, who they? The victim's families are grieving quietly as soldiers who went to war and didn't return, is it not? In sum, I believe the governor was played by the Powers that be that they would only scare them away, hence his cooperation. He made a big mistake and he must face his conscience daily. A power play just took place with the Lekki protesters as cannon fodder and people are here spewing tribal bigotry. Who's the biggest loser of the entire power play. And why is that? Think, people think, it's a lesson in power play! Stop the tribal bashing. All these have happened before in history. Study the rise and fall of empires then you can deduce what played out on 20/10/20. |
[quote author=ehinmowo post=95236735]If you are a student of conflict and peace resolution, you will understand that conflict is as good as peace itself. Conflict is forerunner of peace. ...... Perhaps after this both government and citizens will respect each other's rights and privileges. Police would think twice b4 shooting a young..You cannot impoverish peoples and expect them to clap for u. I have been telling people this. Without justice no peace. What we are seeing now is repressed rage (consequences of maladministration) of over 60 years! Let there be mutual respect between the citizens and the leaders. |
Good one, Governor. To err is human..... since his conscience has been activated; May God grant you the courage and wisdom to stand up for what is right and just. We need swift action. The blood of the innocent victims is crying for justice. Justice will douse tension and help survivors find closure. Governor, do your best, and the citizens will acknowledge it! |
Ademoore07:Sat on the fence through it all, and moved to the winning when she saw the ensuing Avalanche of Public Opinion against her master! Tactical/selfish move, I dare say. |
We4all:I can't pass for a kid even if tried very hard. The inherent sarcasm was lost on me, considering the atrocious incident/solemnity induced as a result. |
SmartMugu:These are poor discontent people, discounted by their traditional leaders, not thugs. They are even more honourable, redistributing the relief items! |
capitalzero:Spot on, unfortunately. I participated in protests as a youth 30 years ago against military dictatorship. The chief beneficiaries of democracy have chosen to be the murderers of the next generation of leaders. This is unacceptable and the resistance is reasonable and logical. The current regime can be likened to a swarm of locusts, eating even the future now. Where is Shadya Farouk, the Covid relief funds queen, for example? Imagine how the protestors organized and prudently feed themselves vis -a-vis how she carried out her duties. We should call them out one by one. All the eaters of our future and commonwealth. Enough is enough. |
capitalzero:He may have a good heart, but he is a lame duck governor. He " mis-yarned" and recanted after much damage. He can still redeem himself, yet still. Impunity will cause more harm. The murdered protestors did not harm anyone, that's the pain. And we are all witnessing the consequences of years of "what can you do?" Syndrome of our leadership. |
jaxxy:Exactly! They salvaged the cameras and lights for ater use. 2 hours before the massacre. They had foreknowledge, whether you think it so, or not! |
MagicBishop:Well said, enough said. |
We4all:We have a standing army, well armed and you want Youths to fight insurgents, avowed terrorists? With what, pray tell? |
People forget that Wike is a lawyer and his wife a judge. His analysis of the employer (supervisor) and employee role laid upon the governor is spot. The former report is the Police archive or Dustin. The FG/Police is not sincere otherwise, by now we would have seen some remorse from the Police end. The brutality has not at all abated. Instead, even more killings everyday. Without weeding out and punishing the SARS offenders, Police impunity against Nigerians won't end. Even commercial disputes are handled by the police. |
uptimum123:E for good if the government even shake body arrest some of the fingered SARS officers. It will surely cool nerves. That would also signal a commitment to justice for the victims. I agree that the protests are getting too long, but govt can douse it with that proactive step. |
Anago55:Post his address/phone number here, so that people can ask him about their missing loved ones. |
davillian:Reflects on you. Just saying. |
thebosstrevor1:You forgot that we have the Police Special Anti -Fraud Unit, Cyber Crime Unit, Intelligence Response Team EFCC etc. So, what are they doing with the mandate and logistics/training they have? The real Yahoo settle and roam free. Some years back, I heard that due to incessant demands for settlement by a particular policeman in Berger area, some boys jacked his gun at a busstop so that he would be removed from the area. The issue is innocent people being profiled, harrassed, extorted or killed. It's better for Yahoo boys to roam free than for one innocent life to be lost. Just imagine the blood shed through the years. Pray not to be a victim. It could have been me on 4/10/20. |
davillian:Derogatory question! It's a detour from the subject. It's Argumentum ad hominem. Avoid it. It demonstrates shallowness of the mind. |
Xisnin:Spot on! #EndpolicePOSextortion #TrackproceedsofPoliceextortion |
Way to go for a full cleansing of the rot in that unit. Innocent people held without complaint from anyone. Their dungeons should be exposed. |
heendrix:Well said! Those licensed murderers will just melt into the various divisions and continue with their POS extortion business one way or the other. There can't be peace without justice. Consequences are what deters a good citizen from going rogue. No one is safe, the bad eggs must be exposed and punished for their crimes. Otherwise, even if the protests stop now, it will just be a retreat. Our sons and daughters are not safe. I could have been a victim on 4/10/20. |
Awol1:Awon ostriches answer o! If you're a tax payer you have a right to VEHEMENTLY ask those questions. People all over the Federation and even foreigners are paying taxes(be it PAYE, Land Use Charge, vehicle tax, estate inheritance tax, advertising, business permits etc) , yet ostriches here won't permit reasonable discuss on these maladministration issues. Whatever Lagos State is touted to have accomplished through the years is not all commensurate with humongous sums it harvests as taxes/FG allocation yearly. Please o, I don't need any Argumentum ad hominem or baculum from Jagaban's apologists. Love him all you want, but address the subject. |
Madibah:Don't mind the ostrich OP. That's how they turned Nigerian Christians into docile slaves in their own country. We are told to pray and not challenge bad governance, demand accountability or resist tyranny even the face death. The Western nations they all run to enjoy were built by Christians by sheer industry. They even fought wars! |
