AlfaSeltzer:Thank you! What we need from him and others like him, is the grooming of new generation of real leaders not "yes men" looking for morsels from their masters' tables. Tinubu has really tried in the political arena, whether he becomes president or not! From Abacha days till now, without him there would have been no PMB; whether we admit it or not. What people are really begrudging him for is his alleged fixation on getting the top post. He hardly speaks on burning national issue, e.g murders/ kiliings said to have been committed by bandits aka herdsmen ,etc. Leading to the conclusion that he is trying too hard not to Rock the boat. Remember "where are the cows?," statement? At the end who were apprehended for the crime? Personally, I don't mind an Adesina, the AfDB president as my president at all (I will feel very proud indeed). There other young vibrant men and women nationwide. I understand Zullum is doing well. We need middle aged vibrant professionals who really care about Nigeria. The Tinubus (political heavy weights) should take a backstage, and field good people for us. Truth be told, our country don retrogress o! |
By the way, we all go to the same market and feel the pinch of ever rising cost of food. So, I still can't understand why calls for good governance evokes such deep seated malice and bigotry in Nigeria. Why nah? When will our country be better off? When will our countrymen realize we are all in it together? For, no matter how well off your are, you have to subsidize others due to the sheer pervasive poverty nowadays. You simply cannot look the other way! |
It's really not about Churches, although they're interested in the money there. The deeper implication is about about stifling and muzzling OPPOSITION for good! THE REGISTERED NGOs (especially good governance activists)will eventually face unbridled hostile intrusion into their affairs under the guise of control/monitoring/regulations. You can no longer register NGOs without government approval. If you are not registered under what platform can one ventilate grievances, sue the government, protest, etc. We will see more of treasonable felony charges in due course and /or charges of collusion with foreigners to destabilize the country! Think, people think, and halt this fixation on church ownership/ finances/personalities. The owners will die one day and leave everything but Faith will never die! |
Oga Lucas Podolski, there's is no time limitation when it comes to crimes. Digging up old murders you say? Have the perpetrators been brought to justice? Once criminals are not punished the pain remains, there can be no closure for the victims, their relatives and the society at large. Lack of punishment for crimes is the cause of criminal impunity today in Nigeria. Crimes should never be swept under the carpet! If possible, let us be reminded everyday to awaken our dead consciousness! |
mirabel9:Spiritism! Sorcery, necromancy etc! Don't go there. |
This is wicked! The landlord shouldn't only be angry but report to the police. And file a suit against the tenant for damages and have it publicized online. |
This guy is a good propagandist. This is sheer deception to avert restructuring/ secessionist tendencies in agitators. It's known and allowed doctrine in Islam/Judaism (Al Taqqya), to obtain desired results; the continuation of one Nigeria as a unitary State. Pushing this, he is probably smells as a fresh and clean Nationalist, to those who don't want to talk about the ethnic cleansing going on under his watch. |
able88:With over a hundred Nigerian students dead, this article mildly describes the country, I dare say. |
I still can't comprehend why a loving parent would send his child to a foreign land where safety is a major issue. At least, at home we know what we're up against; also in other normal countries. It's so,so sad. Hundreds said to have been killed in ''mysterious circumstances'',.... my heart bleeds..... |
We play the ostrich in certain matters especially where stigmatization will result. This case is prevalent in our communities where there is no access to mental health care;c cost is also a daunting factor. The parents, usually at their wits end, chain the mentally challenged patient. The father is hiding his son out of shame/preventing him from harming others. Let an informed (expert) Nairalander speak on this issue. Mental ill health is a serious health issue in our land, acute depression, schrizophrenia, bi polar, paranoia, et al. Our people should be reoriented that mental ill health should not lead to this kind of (condemnation) doom for the sick. Mental ill -health can be managed by psychiatrists and the victim live a normal or fairly normal life. ! I have heard of this kind of cases in Ogun, Edo, Delta, Cross-Rivers, Enugu; this for the benefit of bigots, by the way. I had personal encounters with a doctorate degree holder who displayed classic symptoms of paranoia! Mental ill health can affect anyone, please. |
How can this be? How can this be in a sane country? What's going on? Where's all this money going? Who is warehousing this money? |
godkiller:That's why there's room for divorce, whether under customary law or statute. It's unlawful to assault, batter, maim, dehumanize and/or kill a human being just because you have issues with a spouse or any other person. |
EngineerBode:Matrimonial squabbles degenerate to this level on account of lack of economic empowerment of the women concerned. Domestic cruelty/violence is a recurring decimal in this sort of relationship. The women continue to endure until it gets out of hand, as the man is literally her ATM. The husband is thus, the Lord of the manor! He can do whatever he pleases with his household e.g. he struck his daughter with the chain. A fellow enterprising woman urging a housewife to find something doing would usually be termed a feminist, who wants to break the home a la promoter of divorce. I have seen so many cases like this, some resulting in serious injury and even deaths. The way to go is for the States to copy the Lagos State anti-domestic violence law under the supervision of the Attorney-General's office. The Nigeria Police often treat these cases with kid gloves. Their lacklustre attitude on prosecution of abusive spouses have resulted in avoidable maiming and deaths. I would rather my my child or relation is divorced than maimed or deceased! Peace! |
Evaromantik:It's rape because she's underaged. The legal age of consent is 18 years. Anyone under 18 years is a child under the Child Right Act. So, little wonder northern states refused to domesticate the law. I hope you now understand what statutory rape means. Consent is no excuse, because a child cannot consent. Please do you remember our footballers who ran afoul of the law in Europe? They had consensual sex with girls who though underaged, actually /physically looked matured. So it's an adult's duty to verify the age of a would-be sex partner before the act. Otherwise, you would have your self to blame. I have taken the trouble to post this in view of the utter ignorance displayed on this forum by many statutory rape apologists. |
o tragic! RIP to the dead. It so often happens that you have a man who believed in a dream life he made out for himself, a trophy wife follows suit g with adorable children. Then, something snaps a la infidelity leading to a DNA test perhaps? And the man's world comes crashing down. Unable to process what happened to his kingdom, he does the irrational, murder suicide. He just couldn't deal with the situation. He could not open up to anyone because it never crossed his mind he would one day deal with this sort of scenario. It's a lesson to the living, you can only trust yourself, this world is full of deception. If DNA were to be a routine test how many families will survive it? Many pious men had several widows at graveside. Truth is, men desire to have the faithful ladies but get carried away with the trophy wife syndrome and end with fatal choices as wives. It's rampant in different forms. Ends in bitter divorce or tragedy. What an end..... |

DominusPrime:Well understood! An Indian working in Nigeria told me that fraud is over-reported in our media and shrugged it off. That it is a world wide phenomenon. With their population I should imagine how it is in his country or China& U.S.A. That is not to say fraud is right. Most of our people are hardworking/resilient, but the reported cases are no where near the earnest citizens. Fraud is a blight on our image and has cost our ambitious people many opportunities. What we need is implementation of our laws to make unattractive to resort to it as a career! |
Jabioro:Underworld business. The rules are quite different. |
50,% of that will do. Is he ready to divorceor you're are the one feeling sorry for him? |
What a reasoning! So you think stout and,..,............ Kudos to you for the enlightening words. This is what should drive this forum, information, knowledge, expertise, advice, empathy...etc. Generally, one should be better off after visiting this site. Regards. |
I'm of a minority tribe. I find it difficult to understand the perennial tribal bashing here instead of addressing the topic. Covid 19 lockdown exposed so much. When are we going to learn. Traders are complaining of excessive taxation/levies and it's relegated to the waste bin, whilst bigotry takes the front row. In a forum like this, someone should be able to educate us on the legitimacy of the levies, the status of the market leader in our laws. Whether or not she's an agent of the State government etc. The measure by which the levies are calculated and so on..... I have gone through the pages, I am still in the dark on the object of the levies and the legality of it and where it goes OR it's purpose! BTW, I applaud /emulate what IS GOOD in other cultures. I particularly like/commend the Igbo apprenticeship scheme of service for agreed years and reward at the end. It has definitely set the Igbo youths ahead of their peers from other tribes. They are thus, very skilled in trading. My tribesmen are heady and can't stay under any tutelage for that long to get rewarded! Other tribes can learn from this system of education, as we now have a crop of youths with entitlement mentality. If they can't extort you, they steal, blackmail or kidnap you. The ones struggling to eek out a living on the streets or their shops should not be emasculated by opaque taxation a la levies. Covid 19 plague is an eye opener. Everyone was for himself (save for a few handed sachets of food stuffs) during the lockdown. Nairalanders, we need to call a spade a spade. |
[.. No insult pls
You seek a miracle for a messiah! I wish you you well. BTW, Covid 19 a sneaky enemy is the likely cause. Folks, let's take precautions, and also boost our immunity via diet/supplements. I take one day at a time, I noticed that even when I try to practice social distancing, people still draw close as if things are normal o! |
Xisnin:Spot on. I always counsel my daughters on these scenarios as they journey on as bachelorettes. Trust no one and you are safer for it. BTW, I could have been a victim (after my WAEC exams as I was home alone)of a predator neighbor, about 60 years old. Having read up on such, I was bold and he retreated shamefully. Looking back, I guess I was just lucky he didn't resort to violence. He could have murdered me and no one would have heard my screams or guessed whodunnit! I thank God. |
PDP raised alarm over the certificate in 2016 but Oshiomhole covered it up. Now he wants to use it against Obaseki Sure banker, he has certificates. Missing but found! |
If hair is naturally dry and it's left unmoisturized and uncombed it will roll by itself into dreadlocks. This the Cele (spiritual) type of dada. My daughter has such hair and if I was superstitious, she would be in dreadlocks! |
Just be grateful that you weren't consumed emotionally and/or physically. It's crazy when spouses betray each other via adultery. It's good you handled it well; and your new employment. Take good care of your child and formally divorce her and move on with your life. Many didn't have the equanimity to carry on with life in such circumstances. I knew of a guy who suicided, found after about 4 days in Ojodu-Berger area. Another I know of is sick, wife is housewife but treats him bad despite fending for her and kids past 15 years. The guy is contemplating suicide! Overall, you really tried, your medula dey kampe! So, I pray you find true love especially in view of your new lease on life via employment/income! Peace. |
Lagos State should fully prosecute him under anti-domestic violence law, there should be a deterrenceto crime. Prosecution will re-configure his mindset on violence (domestic or otherwise) and also upgrade our Nairalanders' "she most probably deserved it" crew! The fellow's education was a waste, still a babarian, a brute! |
blesoh:. She'll have closure if her father is brought to justice, jailed! By the way, I wandered about her mother, her whereabouts, departure from the matrimonial home or demise Sadly, the girl child is always endangered in circumstances such as this. It could have been a wayward neighbour, uncle or any random guy with some cash. Extended family those days was useful in sheltering a child in this sort of situation. An aunt could have taken her in to shield her even from the cruelty of a stepmother. My sister had to shield a boy child (cousin's child) from the cruelty of step mom recently. A first child whose mom had passed and with the way he was being raised he be deprived of education. Oh.... so many thoughts. ..... so sad. The relatives must intervene, she can't go back there. |
Never mind the nil cerebral crew. Always attacking the medium rather than the substance, because they have superior facts or argument. It's a shame, really. What's the value of our education? Empty heads on Nairaland always insulting Messengers of truth. Unfortunately for them, with Covid 19 plague all deceptions have been further exposed. |
He is broke and definitely has inferiority complex. Appreciating you and your contribution would make himself feel less of a man. So, he has to constantly put you down to feel like the maigida, Lord of the Manor. You didn't start early to admonish, so he getting more and into his bragadaccio character, hence his recourse to violence or threats of it to ensure you are cowered and remain cowered. Truth be told, this may escalate someday. You're already boiling to speak out here! Accordingly, I recommend professional psychological counselling. Thereafter, you will decide whether you wish to continue living like this. |
