Not sure how OP intends to use it but it's popular to have a BQ for income generation from tenants and to give the property a live in look during absences for safety.

That's wise.

BBQ: Barbecue = US
BQ: Boys Quarters = Nigeria

Outdoor kitchen were popular in Nigeria but somehow the architects designed this out for some reason. My building plan for the house I'm designing for Nigeria includes an outdoor kitchen in the indoor courtyard.

Lol...BQ: Boys Quarters. Ok
Is that a Muslim thing, or is it like a "Man Cave" here?

I would think an outdoor kitchen would be welcome to keep the heat out of the house.

Thanks.

I think this is the common building system in Nigeria. Maybe some mega-rich guys in Ikoyi use the America-style wood etc.

Hmmm...most homes in the US are wood frame structures. It is not something for only the mega rich. The logging industry is a huge here. I guess lumber is more readily available and less expensive here.

Here in the US you would have to be mega rich to afford a house built this way. smiley

I followed this link from your current project. This is a lovely home. This one seems larger than your Lagos project, or is that just because it is not finished? Thanks for sharing. I find construction journals interesting. I would have liked to have seen a journal on the decorating of the inside, or is that too personal? If not, maybe you can do it with the current one? This whole process is fascinating to me, from beginning to end.

Also, I'm curious about the BBQ. Can you show a pic of this one or perhaps the one from your current project when finished? I'm wondering if it is the same as BBQs here in the US. Outdoor kitchens are very popular here.

Little by little

This is interesting. Is there no wood construction in Nigeria? I've noticed everything, even the inside walls, are done in brick. I've heard from others that this is common. Here in the US, even those structures with brick outer walls have wood framed inside walls. Is it cost, unavailability of materials, stronger construction, just the way it's done there, or what? Just wondering.

Congratulations btw. This will be a nice place when done. smiley

tbaba1234 please and please report this to the police. I've seen articles where the abusers go to prison in Nigeria. Put this man away so he cannot continue raping little girls. He tied up and gagged an 8 year old child and rape her. He WILL do it again. This man has no sexual boundaries.

Islam for Muslims / Re: Covering Hair Palava!!! by aishaquest(f): 3:13pm On Sep 27, 2014
It seems in the haste of some who came to criticize rahma2husna and her choice of words, the purpose of her post has been swept away.

Interestingly it is the men who have done this. Even maclatunji, whom I would have expected to get the op back on track, simply went along with the defensive nature of the commenter by continuing to allow the derailment. Though he did defend her.

ayinba1: I posted a thread a few years ago asking our members here that how many of them would support their undergraduate /graduate daughter if she decides to start covering her hair/wearing hijab? I can tell you the responses were not encouraging.

I salute your courage and I also understand why some muslims may be wary of the head covering/hijab. When we fear the creature more than the Creator, we begin to compromise. Our men are not as supportive as they should be for multiple reasons. The only and best reason for a muslimah to cover her hair/modesty is because Allah commands it. That is the most rewarded one.

May Allah ease our paths

I'm interested in hearing, if Muslim men choosing non-Muslim women is becoming a trend, and what the Muslimah can do about such a trend. If Muslim men choose not to take a Muslim wife(s), where does this leave the Muslim ladies who choose to live according to Allah's requirements?

Abdulsleek was an undercover non-muslim posing as a muslim that was struggling with his faith.

He exposed many muslims here in this islamic section as hypocrites who only know how to copy and paste fatwas from clerics rather than reading their own Qurans.

Because of that, he has a legendary status here.

Any muslim questioning their faith is suspected as an "abdulsleek". Just ask Deols

I am not an "undercover" non-Muslim. I am investigating. They call me a revert. Go away with your conspiracy theories "Abdulsnake"!
