I on behalf of the Igbos on Nairaland And the Indigenous People of Biafra wish the Prof a very happy birthday.
Even though we all know Chinua Achebe deserved that Nobel Prize in Literature and not you. I still admire you. Thanks for your literary works, Thanks for your nonconformism Thanks for the SeaDogs Thanks for speaking up against oppression.
Happy birthday and many more years sir! Because Achebe deserve the Nobel prize doesn't mean that Soyinka doesn't deserve one. Both are literary giants, and each has his space. You Igbo people? ? I wonder how you all reason. "A" will always be "A"...you can't replace "A" with "B". 4 Likes |

If you want to join the club, visit my signature You are getting it wrong. The issue is that these banks give huge loans that turned out to be bad loans to so call big men on a paddy-paddy level, while the common man is asked to provide unreasonable collaterals. cogbuagu: I am an Uber Driver. Since uber reduced their fare by 40%, I hardly drive all day. I only do it just to feed my self. I nolonger see it profitable . I don't see it taking me to another level or something I can call a good job found.
It seen Uber noticed that I don't drive like I do before, they decided to give me a promo last week, thinking I can't meet up.
The promo was to complete 60 trips to earn 25k more. Conditions were: 80% acceptance and 50% completed trip.
Finally, I met and exceeded this above conditions and completed 60 trips. I got a congratulating message from them.
The next day, i got a message tellinf me that they found improper use of the app from me. Therefore, they will not pay at all. What exactly I did was not stated. To me, This a big SCAM!!
I have written them several times, they ignored all my mail. I have also gone to their office twice in Lekki phase 1 and they found no wrong doing from my side. All I was told, was to send mail. I have sent so many email to uber and up Till date I have not gotten any response from them.
All other complain not concerning this, they respond but for the promo, they refused paying me till date.
I'm greatly disappointed and I feel scammed by Uber. For this reason, I will not part take in any of their promo again because I now see it as a big SCAM. |

bakynes: This issue is very simple, the new Biafra country needs a good bilateral relationship with Nigeria, if they are to retain their properties or the Naira currency in their hands and bank,if they don't get that bilateral relationship, a single law can make Biafrans lose all the properties and money they have ever made. So that's why they need to stop this Biafra issue and think of restructuring that way it will benefit them, Biafra will level many Igbos to ground zero.
Nnamdi Kanu wasn't thinking about this when he was insulting Nigeria. The Nnamdi Kanu guy was only thinking of himself. I imagine the kind of life ha had in the UK before starting ipob. |

Until all Nigerians in Nigeria change their mentality, it does not matter if all tribes secede. Look at it this way; If you migrate everyone in Nigeria to Germany and bring everyone in Germany to Nigeria, in six months the Nigerians in Germany will be applying for visa to come back to Nigeria after they have destroyed Germany with their mentality. Thats exactly the problem. These people are just seeing things from the surface. Break Nigeria into 100 parts, the same problems will persist if the mentally remain the same. |

As my 70-yr plus father, a member of a prominent Ikorodu family who almost ten years ago was believed kidnapped while taking a 15 minutes walk to his elder sister abode. A simple minded honest Nigerian of high intellect but humble as a dove, whom his British professor in the UK were astounded by his diligently prideful intellect that he windered loud how a young African was looking down on them (his professir and colleagues) because he was fortunate to be a genius. There are many youths in Ikorodu and other parts of Lagos that belong to cult gangs. I collect and monitor crime data from Lagos and elsewhere in Nigeria. These cult gangs are extremely dreadful. Now they operate in daylight with no fear. They are actually easy to identify as members of the community know them for what they are. |

Even in america, citizens have the right to own arms to defend themselves So because you own a arm you think you have a right to shoot a suspected rcriminal on the street. Then you will spend a long time in jail. Just last week somewhere in Houston a woman driving an SUV intentionally ran over a thief that was escaping a crime scene. Though the thief did not die or bear serious unjury. The woman is getting the same treatment from law enforcement authority as the thief. She has been charged to court same way as the criminal she thought she needed to get rid of. |

DONT BE DECEIVED NO SANE MAN CAN BURN A FELLOW MAN THIS ... THOSE PEOPLE U SEE IN THE PIC HITTING AND BURNING THOSE MEN ARE ACTUALLY HARDENED CRIMINALS MOST LIKELY BADOO MEMBERS You are very right about this. I used to live on Lagos Island. While I did not witness lynching in person, I have seen suspected criminals brutalized. Those who do the beating or lynching are often motivated by fact that the suspect is committing an alleged crime in their "territory". They are usually criminals themselves. |

chai! Stupid man. So who is rejoicing over the victim ethnicity. Is your brain too small to reason logically. Why are you people just too shallow not to see things from the ethnic angle. Nobody care which ethnic group you are from. Your own mind and way of thinking is the problem. You are all delusional. Innocent victims from diverse ethnic group get lynched in different places in Nigeria. We know it's evil. But it is purely stupid to reason the way you do. People generally care less about this ethnic stuff. The main issue is to stay out of crime or do everything not to be mistakenly accused for a crime you did not commit. This could be a case of bad judgement and mistaken identity. |

The locals usually know who are the criminals but fear of being the next victim. Many of these criminals boast about being criminals, some even say there is nothing police would do. Let us be logical here and stop reasoning the Nigerian way. Seeing a grinding stone in someone's car does not necessarily mean the individual(s) in the car were part of those doing the killings in ikorodu. Four innocent "land speculators" who I believe are Yoruba were equally lynched several weeks ago in Ogijo. The poor folks were trying to escape from a fight that occurred in their attempt to collect money from a land owner. They were from a neighbouring town. Likewise, an alleged burgler was taken as a Badoo member and lynched as effort of policemen and local vigilante group to rescue him failed. |

It seem many of you are not getting the "gist" of the story. The police authority apprehension is not about themselves but of Nigerian prison officials. And it is genuine. I had a friend of a friend, a british-born Nigerian who was sentenced to jail for drug trafficking after he was caught at MMA Lagos. The story is that after his conviction he was flown out of Nigeria by his parents. How could that have happened without the help of prison officials. This was in the mid-1990s. And more so, we are talking of a "billionaire" suspect. He can surely buy the head of Nigeria''s prison system. Corruption kills the system. |

https://i1.wp.com/sagetravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/06/naija.jpg
Yes! It will surely make you cry. Can you imagine, 44 years ago, South Africa, Kenya, Ethiopia and the United Arab Emirates all indicated interest to learn how Nigeria turned the Nigeria Airways into an intercontinental national carrier with 1,500 destinations across the world, generating N150 Billion naira profit yearly and providing jobs directly for 10,000 Nigerians. Now let me ask you. Are we moving forward or backward?
On the 20th of June 2017, Skytrax announced the world’s top 100 airlines in 2017 at the world airline awards held at Paris Air Show. Ethiopia airline was ranked 48 (First in Africa), South Africa Airways 49 (second in Africa) and Kenya Airways was ranked 91. And recall that the 3 African airlines that wanted to learn from Nigeria 44 years ago are now among the top 100 airlines in 2017.
https://i1.wp.com/sagetravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/06/Top-100-Airlines-in-2017.jpg Top 100 Airlines in 2017
Now let me ask you again. Where is Nigeria Airways? With all the riches and abundance of natural resources, Nigeria cannot boast of one national airline despite the fact that there are about 10 aircraft in its presidential fleet.
http://sagetravels.com/picture-nigeria-airways-will-make-cry/ That your N150 Billion and 1500 destinations? Ummm ! 44 years ago? Where did you get those numbers from. N150 Billion then was more than $150 Billion. What's the GDP of Nigeria in 1973, which is 44 years ago. It wa's surely much less than $50 Billion. Please, remove those numbers. |

Well to me, the cause of her death is Greed.
She won't have died if she gave birth at LUTH. They would have even given her celebrity treatment there.
But there she was treated like a mere African visitor. "Mere African visutor"...you must be joking. You are more likely to die during childbirth in a Nigerian hospital than in a Canadian one. There, they won't ask for money before you get treated, and you will probably get more human treatment from their nurses compared to the more heartless ones in public hospitals in Nigeria. Only if you know the number of women of African descent that give birth in Canadian hospitals. Apparently the Nigerian public are not fully aware of the circumstances surrounding her death. More so, the lady is over 40 yrs old which increased chances of complication during childbirth. Educate yourself rather than being ignorant. |

Let's think clearly for once.
-Who own the land by law in Nigeria? Government -What factor drive up the value of land in Nigeria, most especially places like Lagos? Land speculator -Is it possible for government to subside the cost of housing/rental at 50-90% of cost, especially to low income earners? Yes. Government can afford to (while a married resident student outside Nigeria, I paid amount as low as $50 for monthly rent (normally $800) based on my income for that month...when my income went up, I paid more. -Is value of land the same across Nigeria? No, meaning the details of this plan will vary based on state/location. -If true, will this program be open to everyone? No, probably low income earners with further benefit to high-middle income contractors and low income construction workers.
Think clearly. This is actually possible if the government mean it. As with many things in Nigeria, possibilities are endless but it is Nigerians like you and I who either lack the will to.support or make these possibilities happen. |

Enddystar: Reading through some comments here I can only see some Nigerian youths displaying laziness. When a young starts a venture, no one will notice him, no one cares about the years of suffering, trials and failures but when he makes it to the top, it will become so sudden in our eyes; All we see will be either blood money or yahoo yahoo. I am sorry but no apologies to these crop of lazy folks who only think their university/polytechnic 'paper' is all they need to become wealthy in life. I have a friend who made over 25 Million Naira in his one year of doing Network Marketing business, I am sure only a few companies pay up to that an entry level staff. Some of us have been introduced to different businesses which we said we could not do later we see people making money is the same business maybe at that time, it would have been late. I am not telling you to join MLM but somehow it will be good if we learn to be positive in our thinking, it doesn't cost anything. I have seen youths who started with very small money and today they make millions some did not even start with money just ideas and you are here condemning. When MMM came, millions of Nigerians trooped in our usual get rich quick way without the work that accompanies it & by the time mavro went missing, we could not voice it due to shame.
Before Jumia started their business in Nigeria, many of us did not think it would be possible but today we have Konga, Payporte etc even many Nigerians have now seen that they can actually own their own online shop and they are doing very well. While opinions differ, always try to be positive, it does not only help you appreciate others but makes you a better person for yourself. Best write up I ever seen on this forum. I normall visit Nairaland to "entertain" myself because most of the comments here makes me laugh, wonder, frown and so on.
