Op said .ng is affordable compared to foreign domain (i.e .com and others). I paid $9 (400 × 9$ = N3600) for my .com but when I tried to order a .ng version of the domain I was ordered to pay N13,000 (N13000 ÷ 400 = $32.5). That's more than 3 times of what I pay for a .com domain. Truth is .ng is overpriced.

Igbos do not know how to play politics! It's as simple as that. They pride themselves as the smartest people yet can't seem to wrap their brain around Nigerian politics effectively.
Nice point. Do the Igbo people even "know" themselves? How can a group of people who are adventurous by nature and in business, and who has spread themselves across different parts of Nigeria and the world, not realize that their need for alliances with other ethnic group or nationalities is essential for their survival. Biafra itself can't "contain"the Igbo. They need other groups to survive.

It has got to be the most nonpartisan first world country I've seen.

As students we used to celebrate our various cultures (Africans, Asians etc) like we were home and everyone used to participate.

Only the biting cold is a concern.

If I stop being a Nigerian, though, Canada is where I want to nationalize tongue
Canadians are the best. Lived it and experienced it as a grad students and later in the larger community. They make effort to provide a sense of belonging to everyone. The same can't be said of the USA.

what do you mean that a Jew can't be as handsome as a white person? Seriously?

Will you soon suggest that an African too cannot be prettier than a European??

Where is this thought coming from?
Black Africans at home and in diaspora have been brainwashed over the centuries and in same way human history has been whitewashed. The narrative is that whatever or whatever look good must be white, while otherwise is black/brown. In fact a whiteman will claim to discover your land even though that land already have native occupiers. It's part of the culture of domination. If someone can control your mind, ultimately that person will control your life socially and economically.

From ancient Egypt, the Jews, and many other parts of human history, those currently depicted as white in those stories are false representation. The Nemba people of southern Zimbabwe were proven some years ago, despite resistance to their story, to be direct descendants of the priesthood house of Aaron (brother of moses) through DNA analysis of the unique Cohen gene carried by male members of this lineage. In fact they have more of that unique DNA than most people in present day israel. If you believe the current occupiers of the land of Isreal are the true Hebrew people, then you need to re-educate your self.... in fact start from the Bible itself. Pay more attention to some part of Deuteronomy... and then reflect on the narrative and commonalities of Black Africans at home and most especially in diaspora... including slavery... may be you will begin to know the history of people of your kind.

The topic "WATCH HOW White Woman Destroys Igbo Woman Goods In Her Shop In Dublin" seems a bit one-sided

There's clearly more to this story.

There seems to be unfinished business which both the Irish lady and the Nigerian woman know about
May be that's why they did not invite cops because policemen would have arrived in minutes. They may have a reason why they didn't do that. That's unusual. I remember a police officer who singled me out of a crowd of people that include Caucasian somewhere in Europe. I screamed the hell at him without been abusive. He took me to their office by the train station. For the fact that I have nothing to hide, certainly there was nothing to fear. But a good fractions of our people out there do always have something to hide. In this woman's case, I would have stand in front of the shop, invite cops and keep her away from my space. I will stand up for my dignity no matter what. More so there are CTVs all around. So chance of being victimized.

Yes there was contentment and love. I miss those golden days. When our parents taught us discipline and hardwork. Children played without fear of strangers. When even strangers cared about you and you about them. Where people offered help without social media announcements, when dressing scantily was an abomination to which parents cried for days for such a child. When dying People in accident were helped to hospital immediately without selfie with a dying person in need of dire help. Sigh. Where are those sweet calm days.
I could forgive you all for referring to those days as sweet old days. You were all probably little kids then with no worries. May be you should ask your parents if those IBB years were sweet old days.

As a teenager and later an undergrad/graduate during the the IBB years, I could remember the following:
1) Take off of Nigerians entry into fraud at the International level
2) With my own eyes in my neighborhood drug lords and their errands became overnight celebrities and talk of the town; with local musicians shouting their names loud for us to hear.
3) Years of the wonder banks and fake finance houses (I lost few thousands to one).
4) Individuals begging me to use our landline telephone to perpetrate international fraud. That telephone line was even older than me.
5 ) Most university graduates lost 1 year due to closure as result of June 12.
6) For the first time in 1991 almighty JAMB exam got leaked, and it got worse over the years.
7) Rampant abuse and assault of civilians by military personnel.
cool Years of IBB''s and IMF SAP (Structural Adjustment Program). If you call what Nigerians are currently experiencing recession, SAP was "recession raised to power 2". At the end of the day it was all fraud.
9) $12 billion Gulf War oil windfall unaccounted for.
10) When exchange rate rose with naira losing its value several fold between 1985 when IBB came to power and early 1990"'s when the rate became $1 to N21.
11) Years of letter bombs and government sponsored assassination
12) Fraudulent elections organized with billions of Naira with no objective of returning power to civilians.
13) When our girls started their rush to Europe to prostitute themselves.... it all took off between late 80s and the early 90s.
14) Take off of "Tokunbo" car import business with vehicles fraudulently obtained n Europe by the few criminally minded Nigerians.

I could go on and on.... in summary, IBB''s years was the full scale start of Nigeria''s journey to perdition.... the journey of no return..That was when it became acceptabe that crime pays, when corruption became celebrated, and when parents stopped asking their kids questions about their sudden wealth.

Many of us who were university students during the IBB years left university and became jobless. Many of us end up in the western world. Unfortunately Nigerians have very short memory.

so many questions left unasked...
1) What is the presidency's view on the Coordinator saga.... who wrote the letter?

2) Why are the released girls not allowed to speak to the press individually?

3) Why not get there parents to come see them before government continues its rehabilitation programs?

what's wrong with these people
There is nothing wrong with "these" people. It is you who has a problem. You probably don't have a child. For argument sake, imagine you have one who was kidnapped, raped and dehumanized, and eventually released. And immediately thereafter a press conference was arranged for your daughter, and right there in your presence, a journalist ask her "how many times was she raped and by how many men?"

Now tell me how you as a parent will feel, not to talk of the poor child. Most of you care less about the released girls but more about government failure in this respect.

No sane family, society, or government will expose children that were held in captivity for a long time to traumatizing enquiry, especially after their immediate release. Many Nigerians are heartless and there seem to be no sense of empathy. How would you feel as a parent if some stupid journalists ask your child who was kidnapped and probably raped in captivity some proding question about her experience.

People asking journalist access to this children at this time in their lives are not different from Boko Haram. Of course it's not surprising, this is Nigeria where human lives have no value.

If Hausa people can do anything for money, then wetin your own people no go do for money. How many Hausa people have been arrested for drugs, fraud, and other related crimes outside Nigeria, even when it is clearly written in black and white that the penalty is death sentence. Do these ignorant folks know the numbers of schools that were attacked or burnt down in Borno before the climax of eventual abduction of female students from this particular school. I use to collect data on terrorism related attacks across Nigeria including attacks by herdsmen; abduction of students was a possibility going by the pattern of attacks of schools by Boko Haram, who have always claimed they hate western education. Of course disrupting education of girls in the north will be at the top on their list. The abduction of the girls is symbolic for them. Nigerian security agents were never on top of their game. Look at how some students were abducted from their school in Epe. Even me who is not a security expert see the possibility of kidnap happening...when you have a school in the middle of no where that is surrounded by streams and creeks. Certainly disgruntled militants whose main source of income via bunkering has been disrupted will shift their focus to soft targets. The government and it's security agencies were never prepared.

About fulani herdsmen...there is nothing new in their activities except that they seem to be moving more southerly. This has nothing to do with politics. Fact is problem of desertification up north is forcing them to seek "greener" pastures to feed their herds in the south. But they have always been violent.
Politics › Re: Nigerians React To The Release Of 82 Chibok Girls by ajl: 3:32pm On May 07, 2017
Apart from the problem of corruption, the main reason why Nigeriatric as a country has not make much progress is the poor sense of judgement of most Nigerians due to their lopsided subject reasoning that is clouded by sentiments, bigotry, nepotism, and ethnicity.

These people are wrongfully claiming that they know more than the American and British intelligence, the international Red Cross and the Swiss government, with the last two publicly acknowledged by the Nigerian govt for their role in the girls release. I believe you have your own drones in the sky monitoring Sambisa or Boko Haram movement. You also have hundreds of your own intelligence community members sifting through millions of intelligent data..... gathered from multiple sources. If you think those nationalities who have made advanced progress in other parts of the world got things done through acts guided by sentiments, then whatever pound of flesh you are seeking, God will grant to you.

I guess it's women like you that the White man use to put the Black man down. I live in the US, and it is alarming the rate of single black mothers you see around. A black man as a head of a family is getting extinct here. Go to the mall, public places and many other places, you are swarmed with uncontrollable kids with a poor lonely woman struggling to put them in check. You could tell a man is not around to put a check to the kids vices. God in his wisdom that created a man and a woman knew what he is doing. Both are created with strength and weaknesses. Let us assume you found a dangerous snake in your backyard. Like most women you are probably going to scream and if you are lucky to have a man in your life, you will likely call on him to help kill the snake. But if not, you either going to be courageous for once or call the animal service. But if you are the stupid type, you will call your teenage son to come kill the snake. Of course, the poor boy has never been taught to be a man and you will be on your own.
Romance › Re: "Magun" Explained Scientifically: Why Some Couples Get Stuck During Illicit Sex by ajl: 4:15pm On Apr 30, 2017
As a scientist I understand and appreciate the limits of science. Science cannot explain everything in nature. Let me share a personal experience with you while I was an undergraduate student in UI. Before that incident, I have heard of people using different traditional methods to "catch" in-house thieves when things go missing in the house.

In the early '90s I was in my 3rd year in UI. There was a time some money I kept in a traveling bag went missing. That was not the first time. But that particular time I was not going to keep quiet. I shouted for everyone to hear. To my surprise, my main "paddy" with whom I used to share bed-spaces alloted to either of us back then, said we would find out who was responsible. There was usually 5 of us that lived in the room, which included an "egbon", an elderly friend from our area in Lagos who is a younger brother to my high school physics teacher. We made sure everyone was around that day. What I didn't know before then which was revealed years later is that my paddy father is a traditional chief in one of the states in Yorubaland , and not an ordinary one at that. He was a strong traditionalist. I thought it was a joke when my paddy brought out a broom, a key, and a string. He attached the key to one end of the string, and the broom to the other end. Then he held the key in one hand leaving the broom at the other end of the string in the air, dangling below until it stopped moving. Then he said he would call the names of all the occupants in the room one after the other three times. Right in our presence, he called out the names of all the occupants in the room; and t was only when he called the name of the "egbon" (the elderly roommate) that the broom started rotating, and it happened on the three occasions he called his name. Nothing happened when the other names were called. I was spell-bound.

As it turned out. It was after that incident that the two ibadan based roommate's started telling me that often when me and my paddy travelled to Lagos, the egbon was in the habit of putting on my clothes, which he never did in my presence. Nature is a finisher. Our culture thought us that "he/she that lie will steal". Is it not? The narration below buttressed that once again.

Just 3yrs ago, after about 21 yrs of the incident narrated above,, I received a phone call from the "egbon". We had just reconnected after loosing contact for so long. He needed some fund to treat his sick child in a hospital. I humbly offered to assist him. I sent him some US dollars. Much later, while discussing with my paddy who now live in Europe, our discussion veered toward the "egbon" and as usual we joked about him as he was a funny fellow. It was then my paddy who is now a staunch christian stated that there was something bordering his conscience and that he needed to tell me. He narrated how the "egbon" called him to ask for money but he couldn't help him at that point. Then the "egbon" told him that he was going to call me but just that he was not sure if I would assist him because I am a very conservative person, and that he needed to lie to me to get financial help from me. And he instructed my paddy not to tell me. So, he lied to me that is child was sick to collect money from me. As the saying goes, "he/she who lie will steal". Here is nature revealing and confirming a act commited more than 20yrs ago.

I can't say what my paddy did with the broom was a joke. My paddy after the death of his father changed his surname so that his town people will get off his back. They wanted him as the first son to take up his father's position in their hometown, which he declined. So, the broom act was not a joke. And the egbon, in his true nature revealed later by lieing to me to extort money from me that he surely could steal. Of course liers can't stop stealing. Not aware that I know that he lied to me, he called me on another occasion. The story was that a storm blew off the roof of his abode and he needed to fix it. I turned him down, and that was the last time I heard from him.

Finally we need to understand that science can't explain everything beyond our senses or the material world. It's too limited, just operating within the confines of well defined hypotheses. And if you think the elements in the white man world is the same as those that operates in black-Africa then you know nothing. The above is a personal experience from someone who can unarguably claim to be a scientist. About the Magun thing, scientific explanation may not explain what happens in all the incidents. Though it may be valid for some. And if you have a key virtue of a true scientist, be curious enough to test Magun on a cheating wife if you are unlucky to have one. Make sure you document the "experimental" conditions in your "science" notebook.

Business › Re: #JumiaNigeria Nigerians Recommend Adjustments To Courier Companys Delivery Model by ajl: 5:11pm On Apr 02, 2017
The solution is simple. Jumia should implement biometric data (photo only) capture once a user click payment on delivery. More so, capture their address from a state issued ID during sugn-up if they choose payment on delivery as an option to deliver products to them in the future. You already have it stuck in their mind that you will come for them if something go wrong on delivery. And most importantly Jumia should state categorically that the biometric data is being collected for security purpose.

I am not sure Jumia have "risk" or "de-risk" their entire delivery model very well. If I find it okay to bring a product to your door step without you paying, then you should be okay with me collecting additional information on you.

Here in the West, product delivery work fine most times because payment are done with credit cards, and the bank/seller has your biometric data already. Even if any of these big companies opt for the payment on delivery option they will surely put a layer of security in between to guarantee delivery agents security; especially in the USA where many people carry arms lawfully. How can you send an agent to a stranger"'s den who could potentially be a criminal. Jumia may be putting money before the lives of their delivery agents.

Comments I am reading baffle me. Seems there are too many stupid Nigerians. They say a drink contain a compound at higher than normal amount, and which could transformed to a cancer causing by-product in your body. Let me educate you. This by-product (benzene) is same as one of the cancer causing compound in petroleum.

From Wikipedia
Association with benzene in soft drinks Edit
Main article: Benzene in soft drinks
In combination with ascorbic acid (vitamin C, E300), sodium benzoate and potassium benzoate may form benzene, a known carcinogen. When tested by the FDA, most beverages that contained both ascorbic acid and benzoate had benzene levels that were below those considered dangerous for consumption by the World Health Organization (5 ppb).[20] Most of the beverages that tested higher have been reformulated and subsequently tested below the safety limit.[20] Heat, light and shelf life can increase the rate at which benzene is formed.
......

The question is have those beverages sold in Nigeria reformulated to make them fit for consumption?

There is reason why Life Expectancy is 54/55 yrs in Nigeria.

Many of you folks need to think before you type. I do not believe he was making that statement to show off or make you think he cares more about how much he is loosing by choosing to serve Nigeria. My thought is that he was likely trying to let people realize that everything is not about money and there are times you would need to make such sacrifice.

About whether he was telling the truth or not, he is surely right. To work at that management level for a multinational oil & gas firm, he was surely earning in the 6 digits. If you combine that with bonuses, stock earning, and other allowance, he would be earning a huge amount per annum. Consider this, I used to work in a very technical PhD level position with an oil firm in North America, and my total package per annum was close to $200k. Then I used to wonder how much my director and our group manager wold be earning if I was earning that much. Now, here we are talking about a vice president a regional division of an oil firm. Am sure any time his group meet or surpasses their goals he would be rewarded for that...and that's extra income. So, for those saying he was lieing, try to educate yourself. Use Google.

An European Union Election Observation Mission reports for the April 2011 election shows that while many Nigerians were caught up with the ups and downs of events leading to that election, some diligent time keepers were actually keeping good records (yea! marking time) of how much time/space where allotted to the presidential candidates and other political by the news and print media. In fact some were keeping records of positive and negative comments by the media to the candidates and other political actors. We all know that during the preparation for the 2015 presidential elections held earlier in the year candidate Buhari refused to participate in an AIT sponsored public debate, and many people called him names. Of course they had valid point, but only within the limit of the information that was available to them. However, if you are former president or head of state of the republic, your ears would be closer to the ground than an average citizen. Nonetheless, the information is out there.

So, imagine that you were candidate Buhari, and you had access to information presented in the chart below, "would have participated in an AIT or NTA sponsored presidential debates?". I mean lets be honest. May be I would or may be I wouldn't have? What about you?
