CSTR2:How can you compare islamic nations to Western countries that has poor human right records. You do not understand the issue here. Now, your example of Israel president is not good enough. Technically Israel is at "war" with these countries. Find a reasonable example. |
EternalTruths:Freedom of expression has nothing to do with citizenship. If it is so, citizen Trump could be denied visa to Haiti or any African country after his tenure for his shithole remark. I think maradona visa issue likely has more to do with his past drug issue. Remember he failed a drug (cocaine?) test during the World cup in 1994 in the United States. |
mars123:Nonsense talk. I boarded a taxi from Lagos airport to an hotel in Lekki. I forgot my phone and left it in the Taxi. I called the number and the taxi-driver realized I forgot my phone in his car. He has not gone far, he simply turned back to return my phone to me. And this was before Uber or Taxify. There are bad people every where. The worrying thing about Nigeria is that the thieves and mediocres among us are celebrated which create the impression that an average Nigerian is dishonest. Which is far from the truth. |
Definition of a Colony according to dictionary.com: "a group of people who leave their native country to form in a new land a settlement subject to, or connected with, the parent nation. 2. the country or district settled or colonized" This sound like an expansionist agenda. They either stupid or ar e promoting an agenda. The Sahara desert is taking over their land and they need new land to settle. |
The people in the Federal Govt are about the most stupid people imaginable. How will they even use the word "colony". It's either an affront, like we don't give a damn mentality or they are unwise. Using the words Cattle Range could sell the idea. Because if you technically own what you colonize. |
TribesNG:And what would God think of you all berating the poor girl.for doing the right thing. Do you think He will have pity on you on your day of need, when you are down and just need someone to listen to your story. |
Pubichairs:I feel so sorry for you people. And if the poor girl had tweeted Shithole country you will all start "crying". |
Surely this is going on our crime/incident map @www.lagosincidentmap.com/map |
Mr Pinnick, it would have been more noble if the reason why you are giving him this offer is because he is a Nigerian who served his country well and not because he is from Warri like you. |
Beautiful + Brain + Manner = Perfect Beautiful + Brain - Manner = Regretable Beautiful - Brain + Manner = Manageable Not Beautiful + Brain + Manner = Maybe, but!! Not Beautiful + Brain - Manner = Surely not Not Beautiful - Brain + Manner = Umm! Not Beautiful - Brain - Manner = Run for your life Op! Make your choice, whatever life throw at you. In life, everything is relative. She could be worse. What if you got: Beautiful + 1/2Brain + 1/2 Manner |
Sultan5:The people leading Nigeria are terribly dumb. For them to even use the word "colonies" mean they do not care about people sensitivities. If you want to sell an idea to someone or to a people, it's important to present it in ways that is not offending. How about using "Cattle Range" www.wordnik.com/words/cattle-range |
dayleke:All na "Atike" Let her post a picture without any makeup, wig, and that thing wey den dey take hold their tummy. |
Throwback:But who is the alternative or which party. PDP? Uhmmmm.... I fear. |
naijapips04:If you know the white man and his ways you will understand a lot of things going on in the world today. And stop lieing about the Economy being terrible during Obama's last years. Am right in the middle of it. |
naijapips04:And is America your papa land. They do not know whether you exist. Ask all Nigerian immigrants there. |
naijapips04:On your point and credit to Trump on the Economy. Imagine he was the one elected after Bush when the US recession kicked in. Current economic situations are outcomes of previous efforts. He has just spend a year. Too early to give him credit on that. |
smulti:Your statement is not true. It's pure sentiment. Maybe if you say African countries with Muslim majority, then you are getting to being factual. Even that can be contested. Sentiments help nobody. |
delzbaba:Your point make a lot of sense. But in a place like Nigeria, it's like handing over your most important success secret to an enemy or a business competitor. In this kind of situation we find ourselves it's okay to only create few regional divisions that the technology can be shared with. Never with all the divisions. Even with these there must be check and balances. |
So sad. Still can't forget the day I was backing up in a driveway of a sales outlet some where off Lekki-Epe Expway during a visit to Lagos. Thank God I had a look at the closest side mirror, and there was this poor toddler crawling on the floor just by the rear wheels. You won't believe that the mother was just sitting on an embankment to the side of the driveway chatting with another woman. Up till today I am still traumatized by the image of the child by my rear wheels. Thinking what if the worst had happened. It's possible that I would have been lynched right there.. People are generally careless in Nigeria. Parents, ensure your kids are secured with seat belts. |
sacluxisback:You mean paying off the mortgage? Why not, you can in less than the full payment period if you just want to focus on that. I have seen people do that. I believe each individual need a strategy that work for them. |
sacluxisback:I understand it's not all rosy but in certain respect comparing situation in Nigeria to that in the US is like comparing death and life. I value our social and family structure except that our people are generally not productive because the elite made it that way. Here, i have been working on a biz idea at low cost but in Nigeria it would have been more difficult or near impossible. No worry about power, internet and all the basuc amenities. Thats where the West is winning. |
sacluxisback:For a long time when my personal economy was booming I had health insurance but when I had a downturn in my personal economy, and because I saw myself as very healthy and had never fall sick before i choose not to get health insurance in last few years. Gbam, last year for the first time I was hit by mere throat infection. I tried to fight it until it got to a point I was not able to swallow or talk. Long story short, i drove to one of those emergency clinics. I spent about 2hrs there where they only did CT scan for me and gave me drips. Then I was driven to Memorial Herman hospital where I spent 2 days and my system was flushed with antibiotics continuously. I was not expecting a bill beyond $1.5k. Come see bill after mail came. Two day treatment at emergency came out to $8K plus (not joking), 2 days at the bigger hospital was $15K plus. Even Nigerian women who come here to give birth no dey pay that much. American health system is a rip off. This year I did not miss getting an health insurance. I found a way around the $15k bill because the hospital though is profit making (makes few billions yearly) also receive federal funding and because of that they are obliged to provide limited number of services free. I was well informed and submitted an application and the bill was written off. For the $8k bill, those one are "thief". I requested that they send me itemized outline of the charges but they never did. So I am dragging it with them. Even if you are making tons of money here the system is designed to enslave you financially. Difference is here you get treated and face the bill later, and if you are well informed you can find a way around it. In Nigeria, you do not have that luxury, you may loose your life if your situation is worse. Which of these two options will you choose. |
obum83:I smiled when I read your post. You are converting to Naira. So, someone living in America is paying for his/her expenses in Naira? That $8 is just a dollar above minimum wage. It's what a 16 yr old working in MacDonald or Wal-Mart will earn. Now imagine if you have family. |
CaptainJeffry:You are probably right. It all depend on where you belong to. There are Nigerians of different classes here. Those that belong to the top 24% American income category and those below, and those at the bottom. It all depend on how you get here and what resources you have invested. It's the reality of life. I've personally experienced the high end career and 6-figure income, and also experienced the other side in attempt to pursue life-long goals and escape "the matrix". Lesson, don't even contemplate moving here if you do not possess skill sets that can guarantee your independence if normal job is not forthcoming. And about the sister in the video, people put stuffs in storage for several reasons. She is likely new here and does not have a clue. But in summary, the pasture is not always green on the other side. It's a normal thing. A Nigerian lady i met told me of how she came to US on holiday few years back and seeing how rosy everything looked she decided to quit her job in Nigeria and moved here. Now she has overstayed her visa, can't secure employment and stuck with baby-sitting to earn a living. |
Enoquin:It's obvious she does not have that level of awareness. That solvent is a chemical. I am afraid for our people, no one is watching their back to ensure their well being. Which government agency is responsible for overseeing the quality of products sold in the market. This is not food, so one cant shout NDLEA. That solvent should have been analyzed and identified. Here is what I found online: - Water bra https://m.zappos.com/p/fashion-forms-water-bra-nude/product/8849289/color/521?ef_id=WXZZTQAAAGs_jAhC:20180116094027:s - Some believe such may cause cancer http://www.stopblablacam.com/culture-and-society/2208-947-it-is-believed-gel-found-in-bras-paddings-can-cause-breast-cancer - Even Victoria Secret liquid padded bra leaks https://articles.mercola.com/sites/articles/archive/2008/12/02/is-there-a-toxic-secret-in-victoria-s-secret-bras.aspx |
humilitypays:I feel sorry for you. They have got you finally. I live in the West and I bet you many Nigerians here wish to return home to that shithole. If you think the comfort in western world is everything in life...then until you get there. Many westerners with their so called advanced society live miserable life. Many years ago I met an European who said many people in the West are less happier and that when he travel to countries like Brazil that has sizable population of poor people he does not seem to understand why these poor people who live in abject poverty live a happier life. That all their needs are simple and easily met. About poor Africans dieing to cross over to the West, until they get there they will realize that most of their expectations are illusion from watching too much Hollywood movies. If only the government can fix basic amenities, people have no reason to come here except for sightseeing. |
tensazangetsu20:Do not be wicked. The children are innocent and God in his mercy will not allow that to happen. The wife I understand. She is an adult. But the kids did not choose their circumstances. |
Y0ruba:Seem you are still not getting it. Let me simplify it for you. You mentioned "projects the government will earn money from". Now, how government earn money. In advanced societies it's principally from tax and other levies, etc. So, when roads are constructed in an area, the government has done the following: -open up the area, which in turn lead to real estate investments and businesses in the area (govt get property tax and business tax). -enhance connectivity between people and businesses which enhance productivity (more revenue for govt) -aid transportation of goods/services which improve commerce (more potential source of govt revenue) And so many other revenue benefits |
Y0ruba:If you are of age, i don't expect you need to be educated on the importance of road infrastructure whether the road is optimally used or not. If you can point out what else he could have spend the money on, this could be an interesting discussion. |
[quote author=Y0ruba post=64104813]If you live in Osun, outside of Osogbo, please share what other places cars ply in high numbers. And I’m not talking roads feeding interstate highways like Olaiya road in Osogbo, Moro road in Sekona & the liked. I’m speaking regular toads tjat cut through streets. In addition, since these roads have been done tell us if there has been high traffic flow in your area and how it has attracted industries fo your vicinity that created jobs for your environment. I’l |
deomelo:Gentleman. It seem it's not obvious to you that we are coming from same direction. No one is speaking for anybody. There is a video and statement from the video. You can interpret it in different directions based on the precedent and context. You often dont make judgement after a single event. You look at the precedents and the players. Who is defending Jonathan? Am not just pointing out the weakness of Jonathan but the recklessness of the entire political class including the governors. Politics is not a one man show. If it is, am sure Buhari would have thrown all those he perceived as corrupt into jail without going to court. Apparently an average Nigerian does not understand how a country is run or understand the complexity of their every day decisions. |
deomelo:You are right. That is the difference between weak leader and a stronger one. The political will of a stronger leader will carry the day even if the general populace lack the will. Of course, that's why he was elected. To make tough political and at times non popular decisions. Jonathan failed in that respect. I can imagine how Mama Peace will be all over him. |
