At the end of the day, racism is a disease/defect found in certain populations. These populations are not normal or sane. It's not normal or sane to react to or view other humans in this way for no logical reason.

Racism is different from politically-motivated bias, old tribal resentment, classism, or any other problematic, but sane/logical, human conflict. Racism is a biological defect that makes the person expressing it subhuman. They cannot really be trusted, repaired, or reasoned with, yet. There exists no viable solution because these sick people like to pretend they're normal.

If you march a random white person in an isolated African village, probably 98% of the time people will be interested, surprised, or indifferent.

A black doctor, lawyer, or millionaire businessman in a so-called developed white nation will experience passive and aggressive hostility in every possible form purely based on complexion before they even open their mouth.

I have noticed strange ideas and beliefs here on Nairaland, but more strange to me is the misconception some guys seems to develop about women recently... I know how you feel bro BUT don't do it, PLEASE! I was in the same exact state of mind as you except I hadn't stepped foot onto Nigerian soil for 22years (left for the U.S in 1993 when I was quite young). I felt the itch to go to Nigeria and even though I was advised against doing so, I stubbornly did in 2016 and left Florida .

I arrived MMA and stayed a while in Lagos. Right from the point of entry, the Immigration officers were asking for money. The toilet was atrociously bad with no water but I was too overjoyed to be bothered. At first I was super excited about just being in the country and had lots of fun. I overlooked a lot of the negativity and was open to everyone in general until people started to take advantage of me. After a couple of months the reality kicked in. I fell sick and the supposedly good hospital/ doctor experience was so below par I began to fear for my life.

I eventually went back to the U.S after a few months.

My overall take on Nigeria is that the people are actually good BUT the unpredictable and harsh economic conditions has created a tough environment to survive in. It doesn't matter how much money you have, the simple things we take for granted in the U.S cannot be purchased with money.

My cousin that lived in the United Kingdom sent some items to me to deliver to his wife.
Getting to dia house, I met the door locked so I try to check on dia neighbour for me to drop dos items. Actually I tried her line before coming but was switched off. While trying to move from dia own flat to the next flat, I heard someone moaning from the oza room, I paused but to my greatest surprise I discovered the voice is that of my cousin's wife, so I waited at the verandah for her to be tru. So I'm serving in this organization and ended up being friends with this guy, we seem to always have something to talk about as we both read books and share an interest in politics. We will go see movies, go watch football and sometimes go bowling too.
After a short time we discovered we sort of started growing feelings for each other, I have not been dating for a year but he is in a relationship.
Now we are both feeling bad because his girlfriend is really a nice girl, at least based on stuffs that i 've heard about her from him, but he claims he cant understand why he is this attracted to me too, said all he knows is he can just be himself around me without any fear or worries about what i think of him.
