We know that APC have nothing to offer igbos in that regard so why will you support a party that does not regard you politically?APC party themselves may not have hope on igbo vote starting from early stage but they thought rochas can use his sweet lying tongue to draw millions of igbo vote for them but he managed to pull few crowds which is not enough for APC, this is why they decide to dump rochas presidential ambition and gave all their support to gambari which is their normal way they operate.Nigeria politics is so predictable that even a blind man can see through it. I know how much those higher than me took home from LASG as "allowances". Even my mum who's seen Corruption upclose was horrified. Imagine giving Meeting allowance because Lagos state govt parastatals were going for a day's meeting to another LASG parastatal. Every meeting, they would demand to be fed, only for us to not achieve anything. Every launching, they would select pretty women from LASG and share free ankara and call them "hostesses" for the ceremony (Lord knows the ladies did nothing). How they would insist on govt car (and be parking their own private cars down the street, pretending not to have any) and got them. How they jump queue at GH and refuse to pay for drugs (then the hospital staff will start telling poor parents that the so-called "free" malaria meds for kids provided for by LASG has finished, they should buy it). The number of foreign trips for "training" abroad and led to nothing. The sheer wastefulness...

Do you know how many excellent Business proposals and companies have been killed, just so they (LASG) can award it to their people, who proceeded to do a shoddy job? The number of jobs lost is astronomical. I know of at least 2, which would have made Nigeria PROUD and hired Engineers, Scientists and Technicians and trained them for 25 years. I didn't know the people behind them but I almost cried when I saw what they were going through at the hands of my bosses (LASG).

Anambra natives are really investing heavily in the state i saw a lot of activities when i went home i saw different companies popping up everywhere,i sent my congrats to many igbo forums promoting home investment specially anambra people both in diaspora and at home our meetings and efforts is yielding a magnificent result in less than 3yrs

The efforts of Governor Willie Obiano to reposition Anambra State as the new investment hub in West Africa are beginning to yield amazing results as the state attracted a whopping $520m investment in the outgone week. The investments came largely into the two key areas that make up the governor’s Four Pillars of Development, namely Agriculture and Trade and Commerce. The other two Pillars are Industrialization and Oil & Gas.
What is currently looking like Anambra’s day in the investment sun began at midweek with a tripartite agreement which the state government signed with the management of Delfarm Limited and Songhai Regional Centre from Benin Republic for specific agricultural projects valued at $200m (about N15bn). This was followed up at the weekend with another agreement with a consortium known as the West Africa Intercontinental Trade Centre Ltd which signed for the construction of an International Modern Market to be located in Ogbunike, Oyi Local Government Area at an estimated value of $320m for the first phase of the project.
These two agreements have moved the government very close to its projected investment inflow of $1.9bn before the end of this year. So far, Anambra has attracted almost $1bn in investments in the last six months averaging $100m investments per month. These investments justify, in concrete terms, Governor Willie Obiano’s reputation as an entrepreneurial banker and a technocrat of note who understands the terrain of high-wired business and the best steps to take to bring the investment world to his doorsteps.
In real terms, the Delfarm Limited/Songhai Farms project is expected to generate 150,000 jobs and cut down the rate of unemployment in Anambra and the neighbouring states. The agricultural project is a fully integrated framework that combines agriculture, technology, industry and services with a sustainable working system and seeks to create training and empowerment centres for the youths. On the other hand, the proposed International Market in Ogbunike is designed to accommodate an ultra-modern shopping mall, an industrial park, education and medical facilities as well as a modern entertainment centre. The project will be executed in phases with the first phase creating about 6000 jobs and 12,000 indirect jobs.
Anambra’s rising profile as the haven for investments in sub-Saharan Africa actually began in May this year when the Coscharis Group made a massive entry into the state’s agricultural sector with $200m investment in a farm settlement, (the Coched Farms Project) in Anakau, Ayamelum Local Government Area. Since then, Anambra has continued to attract investors as the Obiano administration digs in to force through its reform programmes that are intended to lift the state up to its rightful position as the home of entrepreneurship in sub-Saharan Africa.
Since the arrival of Coched Farms, other agro-investors have followed suit. Joseph Agro Limited, Ekcel Farms Limited had penned down a $150m agreement to take over the lucrative Omor Rice Mill and farm settlement while Ekcel Farms had signed in $100 million for the production of cassava and tomato in the state. Grains and Silos Limited has also signed another MoU valued at S11 million for a Silos project and finally, Delfarm/Songhai Farms have also moved in. Other investors like Royal Farms and a host of others are all in line to move into Anambra. There are also talks about a high-level collaboration between the Anambra State Government and some agricultural authorities in Bangkok, Thailand, that will finally divvy up Governor Obiano’s promised agricultural revolution in Anambra State. The state has also attracted investments in the area of tourism with Cardinal Developers and Trust Limited leading the charge in that sector with a considerable financial outlay.
Right at the heart of the investment revolution in Anambra State is the pivotal role of the Anambra State Investment Promotion and Protection Agency (ANSIPPA) which is staffed with seasoned investment bankers and financial experts. This agency has made the process of documentation and other otherwise tedious processes of doing business in Anambra State look like a walk in the park. This has encouraged prospective investors who are familiar with the huge markets and great human capital that Anambra has in abundance.
It would be recalled that flagging off this year’s farming season in a ceremony at Nteje, Oyi Local government in May this year, governor Obiano had firmly set the agenda for his agricultural revolution. Underscoring the importance of agriculture to Ndigbo in his speech at the event, Chief Obiano had recalled that “From time immemorial, our ancestors judged a man by the strength of his arm. A man who could not feed his family was regarded as an efulefu! A failure! That tells us how important farming and agriculture in general was and will always be to our people.” Setting his sight on the possibilities of Agriculture contributing at least 40% of the GDP of Anambra State, Governor Obiano declared, “this year, we shall force the doors of agricultural productivity open in Anambra State.”
While it may be too early to say that Obiano has forced the door of agricultural productivity open in Anambra State what is however not in doubt is the fact that he has forced the door of investments open to both local and foreign entrepreneurs. And Anambra State is the better for[/b] it.

[b]A presidential aspirant on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, Alhaji Jhalil Tafawa-Balewa, has said he is no longer interested in challenging President Goodluck Jonathan for the party’s ticket.

The PDP presidential aspirant, who is the son of a former Prime Minister, Sir Abubakar Tafawa Balewa, said he had already withdrawn his intention to run for the Presidential primary.

He said he was already supporting the candidacy of President Jonathan for the party’s sole ticket.

Tafawa-Balewa stated this in Abuja on Thursday during a press conference organised by Ijaw leader, Chief Edwin Clark.

Clark had earlier claimed that he spoke to the aspirant on behalf of the President with the intention of achieving peace in the party.

The aspirant, who had paid the mandatory N22m to the party was denied the party’s nomination form when he approached its leadership.

Clark said, “I wish to inform you that I have succeeded in intervening to make peace between two of my sons, Dr. Jhalil Tafawa Balewa and Dr. Goodluck Jonathan.

“Dr. Jhalil Tafawa Balewa had indicated his intention to contest the presidential primaries on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party against the decision of the party to give President Goodluck Jonathan the right of first refusal. Unfortunately this issue was to generate unnecessary public distraction as detractors jumped to capitalise on it to make unfounded commentaries.

“The relationship between Dr. Jhalil Tafawa Balewa and President Goodluck Jonathan dates back to 2005 when the latter was the deputy governor of Bayelsa state. In deference to their old ties, Dr. Jhalil, has formally withdrawn his aspiration to contest the presidential election in the 2015 general elections”.

Confirming the development, Tafawa-Balewa said, “What you have heard from Chief (Clark) is true. I have accepted to step down for the President. I won’t run again.”

He, however, refused to answer whether or not his N22m nomination fee had been refunded by the PDP.

It is a pity that all the roads constructed by Governor Rochas are substandard (China Road). We are yet to see the economic impact of Bongo Sqaure, Heroes square, Freedom square, Ikemba square. First Lady’s New Office, Imo international conference centre and other projects that are total wastage of scarce resources. Rochas has wasted N1.8 Trillion in three years.

The guy is a disgrace to real igbos,we cannot allow people that have little understanding about igbo culture to rule any part of igboland. Look at the road in Enugu (Emperor Baywood Ibe) build good quality roads with bridges and culverts later hand it over to federal road maintenance to commission
