Honestly, I didn’t use the app. My trainer gave me a number to call, obviously there are some people who could help you get the date faster, I think that’s their job. My booking fee was £75 or so because it was a bank holiday test date and they charged £25 for their own admin fee… I paid £105 and I got the test within 2 weeks ( mind you, they only collected the payment after they’ve booked my test). I don’t have the time checking one Testi app every time like my life depend on it, I really hate stress.

missb50:
How do you guys get Practical Driving test dates?

Installed both Testi and Driving Test Now (Premium versions) with no luck.

I have been auto - refreshing the page myself (using java script) get blocked and unblocked, yet nothing (saw one for June yesterday but couldnt get it)!

Any help, abeg.

The salary for Band 2 is below the Sponsorship salary quote from gov.uk. Don’t expect sponsorship…

There’s also not much to prepare for as regards the interview, just get to know 6C’s of care and be able to give scenarios on them when asked…Also read your Job role on the advert, you may be asked some questions on them.
stephoye:
Good morning elders. I have an interview with NHS very soon. What and what should I prepare for and what is the dressing code?

Secondly, is it true that NHS does not sponsor band 2 health Care Support Worker anymore (Nursing auxiliary Band 2)

Thanks for your time

It seems insurance price depends on the type of car someone drives too… Is insurance price the same for all cars? Cos I remembered when I was using Lexus IS230, I was paying £160 monthly, switched to BMW series 1 then tax became £30 for a year then insurance got reduced to £92.8 or something a month… The same can’t be said for those using 2020 and up Audi, Benz or BMW
domin8:
I think it works out cheaper to use the Nigerian (International ) License first before Switching to the Full License than using the Provisional.

For me, it was also about £1200 for the 1st year and Subsequent year was about £630 (I did the automatic test and also pass plus cheesy). Pass plus will give you some discount but check with the insurer first.
TravelRe: Living In The Uk-life Of An Immigrant (part 2) by AKALAMAGBO: 11:55am On May 15, 2023
You are on point. I was paying £985 on my provisional license, immediately I passed and informed my insurance company, they added extra £900 making it £1895. I inquired why and was told I’m more at risk as a new driver cos I just passed, I then further asked who is more at risk between provisional and full license holder, their answer was that being a provisional license holder mean an experienced full license holder with at least 3 years of experience must be with you in a L labeled car when driving so you were not much at risk BUT now that you’ve passed your driving test, you would want to be driving alone hence the price… I just cancelled that their nonsense, used confused.com and got a deal of £1200…

Their wahala too much
Controlv:
Premium will actually go up with a new full UK license.

I paid 986 on my international license last year December, but the premium went up to £1,500 when I updated to a full UK license last week. The best I got on comparison sites was £1,200 but I wasn't sure what the effect would be on my next premium if I cancelled the current insurance. I paid a prorated amount of about £300 for the remaining 7 months as the customer service agent refused any negotiation. I will use the comparison sites again at least 1 month to my next renewal and opt for the best rate.

Yes baami… I don use housinghand for a fee and the Homelet people has received response, waiting for my house agent to get back to me…

Thank you 🙏

You can use online guarantors for a fee;

Wawwu… nairaland place of info… I just used them now, though they charge but that’s nothing… Thank you so much 😊
gergemam:
You can use https://www.rentguarantor.com/

They will act as a guarantor for you. Since you want your wife's name to be on the house Contract you can link your accounts together. She opens her own and you open your own
TravelRe: Living In The Uk-life Of An Immigrant (part 2) by AKALAMAGBO: 9:19am On May 13, 2023
You are right, it’s x30 of the earning. They only asked for a guarantor with a UK resident status, earns more than 40K and never had any CCJs or bad credits…
AgentXxx:
Na so the matter for housing Dey tie warapper for Uk. Either you earn x 30 of the rent or you provide guarantors. I hope you are not asked to get guarantor that own a property? Anyways just keep praying and searching. God will provide a way

Sometimes this UK will frustrate you….

Been trying to move house since, got the one I like and credit check and referencing was carried out, which came out good but the agent is still asking for a guarantor due to the fact that wifey hasn’t been self-employed for up to a year and husby salary ranges between £28,407 - £30,000 as a permanent employee….

Una go dey increase rent but refuse to increase salary and make renting difficult for residents…

Shown payslips and rental history with good credit worthiness BUT all these oversabi House agents still dey ask for 2 Guarantors… Who wan guarantee person wey dey no know…

Olagbara ooo…. Never had a good sleep since yesterday…

Honestly! The one surprising me is the ‘friend’ that came here to be laughing and sharing emojis about the possibility of her friend abusing his wife and/or being incarcerated.

And this is the same thread people want everyone to indirectly make their identities known. So that next time their ‘friends’ will be using their matters and real life identities to catch cruise in front of the whole world until the wrong eyes put two and two together.

So if I drop a pointer that I got NHS employment and I was seeking some clearance about some things, Una go dey ask me say which Trust ? And if I refuse to mention the Trust, u go tag me selfish?

Is NHS not a big organization recruiting people on a daily basis? Is indeed not a platform where anyone can search for a company doing recruitment?

The guy has tried pointing to where he got his offer already, some won’t even mention anything.

I still see British people do minimum pay jobs on a daily and some would even tell you, Oh I’m okay with what I’m doing, I’m lucky and not complaining.

How do you know? What evidence do you have to support the things you wrote here?
worry357:
Many of these people that you state are reaching out are not actually British citizens, they are claiming some connection via job or relatives or anything they can think of to get a ride into the UK!
Or, they are demanding to bring loads of so called dependents with them. It's the usual back door route into a country for some people.
It is no wonder that the UK are being selective about who they transport.
TravelRe: Living In The Uk-life Of An Immigrant (part 2) by AKALAMAGBO:
It isn’t a waste of money for me coming to UK, I never said that. I saw UK as a better country than Nigeria but not better than USA or Canada. That’s my view of it right from my younger age and still hasn’t changed till date.

That’s how I feel, don’t take it personal. If I travel out of the UK to probably USA or Canada and it feels shit there as well, then that’s my problem. Is that clear Justwise…

justwise:
Surely there is nothing wrong with that but sometimes i wonder why people move to a country they don't like then start complaining about the country. Moving to the UK is expensive so why would anyone waste so much money to get here then start complaining almost immediately?
TravelRe: Living In The Uk-life Of An Immigrant (part 2) by AKALAMAGBO: 9:38am On Apr 27, 2023

TravelRe: Living In The Uk-life Of An Immigrant (part 2) by AKALAMAGBO: 9:36am On Apr 27, 2023
Maybe or Maybe Not..
There’s nothing wrong in feeling some type of way about a country, most especially a country you have lived in for up to 2 years.

justwise:
[/b]

You will say the same about Canada when you finally get there then US becomes your new heaven.
TravelRe: Living In The Uk-life Of An Immigrant (part 2) by AKALAMAGBO: 6:12am On Apr 27, 2023
You are right anyways. I never rated UK right from my younger age and UK wasn’t part of the countries I was interested in settling in and still isn’t even though I am here right now. Being here was just a circumstance of failure in securing both USA & Canada visa (I’m sure its same for few folks here), and when the opportunity surface itself I will still move out…. I’ve spent about a year and half here, my perception about UK hasn’t changed…

UK is overrated, nothing much really.
dustydee:
Not everyone wants to be here. Some want to leave to other countries or even back to Nigeria, nothing wrong with that.
As I am, if I get a job that will take me to Nigeria, I will be off. Never liked it here and can't wait for the right opportunity.
TravelRe: Living In The Uk-life Of An Immigrant (part 2) by AKALAMAGBO: 11:09am On Apr 26, 2023
Do you mean you are leaving the UK or you are leaving the tier 4… are you going back to 9ja?
EngGandalf:
I have nothing to lose really.. I’m leaving in a few months time.. and I want my money back. In fact I must get my money back. The country keeps taking but has no interest in giving.. so any opportunity I’ve to take my money back is a plus..

I’m on Tier 2 visa. I never mentioned Tier 4 Visa. Some smart lady said I should wait some more till I have enough 20hrs slip. That’s smart . Thank you
