Sir, all you are saying is very correct at the moment but any investor should know that money in any fund is not guaranteed. That is my point. Only God knows tomorrow. You ask me to tell you an SEC regulated investment fund that has lost money in the past? Boss, any good investor should know that past performance is in no way related to future performance. I repeat, there are good investment funds around but anything goes wrong tomorrow, an investor can lose everything. No guarantees at all.
You are not making any sense, if you know any that has gone under, name them, if you don't know, stop making assertions.

Educate people based on what you've learned extracting from your past experiences not what you think of futures base on your emotional state.

Current rates for money market funds

FBN Quest Asset Management 4.5%

FSDH Asset Management 4%

United Capital Asset Management 4.57%
Fbn quest is doing well but stanbic is not encouraging, as at yesterday rate was 3.8. They've not been performing well since the fall of Tbs.

Hey,apologies, I actually thought you are same person that keep asking me follow up annoying questions, I just saw the comments was made from different three persons, my bad I did not look well, apologies and remain blessed.
People may get angry when you talk about billions and term it audio money, when all they've ever have is thousands, but doesn't apply to most people in here. When you ask questions, learn to ask respectfully irrespective of the figures involves.

Your initial question about the 1b investment was a direct one but subsequent ones shows some egotism. I wonder why people use words like: 'that your country' but still invest in it.

Thanks.
Money market funds. Apart from the practice I ealier mentioned, I haven't experienced any other bad side of them. N the customer service is wack too, but I believe a supposed affiliation with FBN is giving them a lead and thier current rate is 4.5 unlike stanbic which is 4% or less

Fbnquest has this unpleasant practice : if you fund your account, say past 12pm today and expecting funds to be credited next day, they will drag it to a day after and wouldn't credit the interest for the previous day.

Am I the only one to have experienced this? Stanbic don't practice this unjust act.

if this is a suggestion, I will say it's not true for my account. but if it's a defence, I will ask you to quote me any day they pay their August interest
I've been receiving interest from first bank for almost a year consistently, but August interest hasn't dropped yet. I've placed a call to them just now, and there was argument that I made more than 3 transactions, I just kept mute n asked for the record.

They came back like a broken record, sorry you are right. So if you haven't been receiving and you never initiate more than 3 transactions, call them to claim your money.

For those that complained about interest on savings account not paid by First Bank I hope you have seen it now. If not you can send First Contact a direct message through their Twitter handle or send them a mail.
Just checked, I haven't received mine. Those who complained yesterday, has anyone received?

Is this rate not too low?. Why not go for United capital bond fund at 8% or investment one VGIF 7.5%?
Thanks. The last time I asked of a bond funds from fbnquest, the interest is high but capital isn't guaranteed, so I presume it will be same with United capital, is it?

And that VGIF thing, I understand it's being run by investments one but I don't know how secured and reliable it is, I don't want to lose a bit of my capital because I'm investing huge funds, hence I'm looking for a secured investment eventhough the return is low.

I also did not receive any interest on my s/c. This month from first bank and gtbank due to cbn confused policy changes.

To whom it may concern

Listen and listen carefully, foreign investors cannot and will never invest in Nigeria real sector without stable power supply, good road network, good security and etc.

If ya'll like cut all portfolio investment rates to 0.1% and keep inflation rising life continues...
First bank is always late to credit interest, sure they will credit interest for the month of August, the new cbn policy start from the 1st of September.

They have a thread for that on Nairaland
So fbnquest should be able to help out to invest with SFS REIT and UPDC REIT? I actually thought you were talking about a flexible fixed income securities that could generate 10% in your earlier post.

Saving interest has been given me some consolation returns but now that's crashed, My options so far is to direct funds to mutual funds while I wait for a profitable bonds. My last bid for FGN bond failed , 9.8% for a 25 yrs bond is ridiculous.

REITs are regulated by SEC.

Retail Investors can't get N10 billion to buy a mall or Office complex, that generates rental income in dollars. But 1000 Investors can buy such and get yield of over 10% and above which can increase due to inflation and currency devaluation. You also enjoy the service of professional property managers and fund managers.

Google the annual financial report of UPDC REIT or SFS REIT and the properties in their portfolio
How do I invest in this?

Kindly enlighten me , as I wouldn't want to pile up funds in mutual funds, gracia.

How?

I even think treasury bills rates would further go down.
I mean more funds will be finding ways back to tbs and rate will further decline, because some investors have been keeping funds in savings accounts because of similarities in savings interest n tbs

CBN slashes minimum interest rates on savings deposit to 1.25%

In a bid to stimulate the economy, the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has slashed the interest rate payable on monies deposited in savings accounts from the previous benchmark of around 3.75 per annum to around 1.25% per annum

According to a circular issued to all banks, the rate cut is effective from today September 1, 2020.

Analysts say the move will allow smaller banks to grow faster and also make it easier for banks to cut lending rates to borrowers.

As Oga Emma said that is a possibility and so don't expect any dividend. However, if you bought the shares yourself and you are sure, then visit Datamax Registrars for GTBank shares, Ecobank bought over Allstates bank so go to GTL Registrars for that. In each of the case, go along with an acceptable ID card. At the office of the registrars you will get the true status of your holdings if any.

If you have holdings with the coys you stated then each registrar will give you a dematerialization form ( process of converting holdings in physical certificate into electronic form and deposited into a cscs account) so that the shares can be deposited electronically into your cscs. that means you will need to open a cscs account and a stockbroking house will process the form with the registrars.

When you have confirmed your status and it's positive, click the link on my signature to open a cscs account with investment one. It's free.

For transportation in cities like Lagos. I think government should give licenses for big businesses to ply certain routes.

Transport companies to be given such licenses should have a minimum of 400 buses in their fleet, pay an annual license fees of about 100k per bus ie minimum of N40 million per company.

Agbero should be banned and all revenues should come to the government.
It's a good suggestion and there will be sanity on our roads but also note that transport fare will go up which I think the masses are not braced up for.

Covid19 make commuters pay high fare because of the
restrictions on numbers of passengers in a bus at a time , I can't just imagine the financial pain they through on a daily basis

You provide the services before you tax the citizens, that's how it's done not the other way round.

Now tell me, what has the Govt provided to warrant these taxes?

You want to tax me for the land I bought, sand filled, dug bore hole, bought a pole and wired my house, graded d road, provided a security at the gate?
Just negodu, every family in Nigeria is a government on its own. You have to provide everything, from shelter to water, yet the failed government paste on my gate land use tax, for what purpose, the air I breathe?

Lagos state built many new estates in various parts of lag but the poor or average people can't near them because the price are too exorbitant, the government give nothing to the poor but in turn expect much from them.

Generating taxes from Nigerians maybe difficult except you want to do a direct debit from their bank , I hope it doesn't get to that point when you pay tax according to the amount you have in your accounts

I just need to be careful and lie low and eventually change location.. madam do take care of provisions but I've got a large family so sometimes run out of provisions quickly.thanks for your suggestions

That entitlement mentality is one I struggle to understand. No attempt to assume responsibility for a lot of people.
Low profile works but money is hard to hide. Even if you hide it what of madam and the kids? Will they comply all the time without losing guard and one day chest beat with _do you know who I am?
Make person non catch an for Lagos one day be dat.
Being rich in a poor area seems to be a big crime in this clime
True, it could be hard to hide money because money speaks. I was in a provisions store, saw an old neighbour's but pretended not to know or see him cos I didn't want to draw attention.

He saw me picking many items because it's a weekly things for the family, he waited outside for me and asked me, are u going to so so place, I said yes, he hopped in and started the praises..oga you have tried today o, you have done well for your family, I was like I don hide reach na. As a matter of fact if I see any known neighbours in a supermarket, I won't shop.. cos people mentality differs plus the fact that I have been robbed before.

When money is in savings, there is the tendency to go and withdraw it for frivolous spending or frivolous request. Such money is no longer available when it is in TB.
Only the immature investors will do that, some unserious investors will even terminate a 91 days TB investment. For me, I spend the profits generated, eventhough it's small, I will rather reduce my monthly budget than to dig into my capitals.

at 3.5 the tb is better than the saving interest..the real rate of return on the tb will be around 5
How come? After 10% tax cut on savings accounts interest, the end result is as good as 3.4% interest on TB.
