Edit : looking through this threads just depicts how low the intelligence rate on nairaland is.

There is no thoughtful reply to madam oby's message. A message that is simple and straightforward. It is full of insults and personal attacks on madam oby.

Madam simply stated that some revenue from oil are directed to the cbn, then converted to naira, before being spent. The remaining are put in ECA as savings.

Is it really hard to understand this??

Nigerians hate new knowledge. They prefer sticking to old beliefs passed on from past generations to them. Those of them on nairaland are a big portion of our society. So don't be surprised about the posts you see here, try and get used to it till they grow up .

Many nigerians who have lived overseas would agree with my position. I neither meant to be rude nor unpatriotic. One's character and conduct can be an indication of how intelligent he is.

Many of the posters do not know what operates outside nigeria. The person that tweeted that opinion probably did so to celebrate a nigerian friend of his; but unfortunately his opinion is not correct. We are smart in doing certain things but nigerians are obviously not very intelligent in many other areas of human activities judging by our character and conduct overseas.

The psyche of the average nigerian has been twisted by our political and religious leaders for long. How come the steel complex needs prayers and not hard work plus the will by government to make it work. It is worrisome the way these leaders have consistently misinformed and confused the people in the effort to put them in perpetual slavery.

Having read a couple of posts here today, am inclined to say that there are very many nigerians who are very bitter about the present government. I wish there is a way to appease these bruised minds and get them to see the goodness in the current dispensation.

I don't think it has come to that. What we need is for the government to do the job it was elected to do. The thought and culture of asking God to do a job meant for humans is an insult to His personality. The nation of israel, whom God called "my people" doesn't call God into their daily affairs as we do in nigeria because their government is up and doing.

It's really sad how these people hope for the worst in this government. I don't support any party. I as a well-meaning Nigerian hope for the best for my nation because my family and loved ones will be affected if anything goes wrong. If anyone wishes this current administration failure, they need to understand that they'll be affected also directly or indirectly. Yes, the people who make up the ruling party may be very shady. Wishing them failure is just not the best option.

To many it may sound like a prophesy but i regard it as an ill-wish and insult to the government and people of nigeria. I think it is high time the authorities find a way of stopping these overzealous and lazy forecasters. Developed nations did not rely on prophesies to attain their present status.

Aggressive lobbying and under-the -desk approach can be used to get ten or twelve senators from pdp to vote in support of apc in case they become serious to remove saraki and his deputy. After all, the vote is secret and the identity of the pdp members will remain unknown. But i think the apc managers are not thinking in that direction yet.

A symptom of laziness of government.

Between good religion and good governance, what nigerians desperately need now is the latter because the former has failed us continually. Only a few smart guys in collusion with the authorities have greedily and wickedly benefited from religion. Enough is enough.

Some african governments are trying to curb the excesses of these overzealous, scandalous and iniquitous pastors but the nigerian govenment seems not interested in doing the needful just because of the interface between the clergy and the politicians.

A nigerian born again christian was sick and met a white doctor in the hospital for consultation. God desires us to be righteous and not just being religious. Our pastors are not telling their congregation the biblical truth but are continually busy with self-enrichment.

Our imams and pastors should stop preaching to us that prayer is what nigeria needs to prosper. That is a fallacy. What the country needs is patriotism, determination and hard work on the part of the government and the governed.

And corrupt imams and pastors scattered around the country; scamming, cheating and stealing in the name of the father, and of the son, and of the holy spirit!!!

If the governor actually did that, he deserves some commendation for courage and willingness to change the staus quo in kaduna state, contrary to what is going on in his neighboring state.

For how long would nigerians continue to marry religion and tribe with politics? Many of us desire to see our country develop but we are unwilling to do what those developed nations did to overcome poverty and achieve prosperity. One of such things was the relegation of religion , traditions and cultural practices to the back side of their national policy making. There cannot be a shortcut to national development except through deliberate planning and implementation of good policies. Finally, progress of a nation does not come by prayers and wishful thinking.

Nigerians should be taught on why and how not to worship public officials, especially politicians for doing a job for which they are being overpaid. There are many professionals in this country who deserve adoration and accolades but nigerians hardly accord them such. We need a complete social re-orientation in this country.

Many nigerians neither appreciate nor respect intellectualism but are very good at adoring mediocrities and purse-leeches; one of the reasons for our backwardness. This has been well demonstrated on this platform.

What you see in those pictures cannot be sensibly regarded as a thing of pride. In actual sense it is more of a demonstration of acute poverty, wretchedness and agony of a backward people. Thank God for the western countries that brought some civilisation to africa. If the world was made up of only africans, our situation would have been worse than those of the animals in the forest.

See the simple but elegant dress of Gov. Ambode. That is exactly the way am expecting our public officials to appear when on official assignments; not in those decorated 'rags' called traditional wears. Agbadas and babarigas plus the sky-touching caps are meant for social-cultural functions.

Commenting on the outrageous actions of the pastor shown in that picture is not the same as ridiculing God. No pastor is qualified to be regarded as God or compared to Him . It is this kind of indoctrination that has led many gullible nigerians ( including many on this forum ) to abandon God and continue to worship their pastors who themselves are very far from God .

See Ambode looking smart and agile in contrast to some public officials who are obsessed with big agbadas and babarigas that make them appear as if attending owambe party. Those concerned should borrow a leaf from the governor of the center of excellence.
