fergie001: It has been overtaken by events as the matter in question is the 2024 budget, the 2025 budget has already been passed.
At the material time of this issue, Ehie Edison was "Speaker" he isn't anymore and now CoS to the Governor.
It has become academic and is of no moment, the appellant simply withdrew same.
Again, it has nothing to do with the leadership of the house. The write-up is wrong..... This appeal has to do with the re-presentation of the 2024 budget.
cc: baralatie When is the leadership case coming up? In the eyes of the law, there was no 2024 budget. This is a loss |

Something to make you happy:
Supreme Court just dismissed Fubara’s appeal against Amaewhule. I predicted fubara losing so that was a non issue. Uzodinma won but the collation officer late prof Otunta whose wife is from Mbaise like Ihedioha rigged the polls and inflated figures via the three Mbaise areas. He failed to get the constitutional 25% in 2/3 which is 18 LGAs yet was hurriedly declared winner. Hope went to court and convincingly proved his case meanwhile pdp misunderstood his case... The Edo matter is a walkover. Obi and atiku cases where harder |

Dogalmighty17: Sadly, I think that the election petition regarding Adamawa state has run its course even to the supreme Court and the PDP has maintained that seat. Coming from the REC that conducted that election, these are heavy allegations. But the APC is the ruling party at the national level. It is suspicious why the party is not taking the matter up. Why is the APC protecting the PDP in Adamawa state? This doesn't make sense.
This is another indictment on INEC. Fintiri is pro wike, binani pro atiku |

ElevationD: Ok.
The results: APC - 291,667 PDP - 247,274 LP - 22,763 Other parties with 2% of the whole results. Looking at the margin between APC and PDP, how would APC expect PDP to withdraw their petition please? With 2% of the entire votes, what did you expect from the parties that withdrew, Akpakomiza?
You may please recall that Uzodimma came a glaring fourth in his first election, but strangely he was declared the governor by the Supreme Court, using the strange word “technicality”.
Do not also forget that Buhari told Nigerians that APC used “remote control” to defeat PDP, in an election that PDP was clearly leading.
All we can do as I always say, is to sit and watch. He wasn't strangely declared. It was as a result of careful and painstaking, clear cut exposition of how he won but was shortchanged |

Money must have exchanged hands, or they’ve been promised juicy positions. Politics in Nigeria is hardly ever about the people; it’s about who gets what. They saw they had no real chance, and instead of wasting time, they probably took the best deal offered. Simple! Fair enough |

APC expressed optimism that PDP may do away with its petition following lack of substantial evidence to support it as reflected in the alleged inadequacies of the testimonies of the witnesses it presented at the Tribunal.
The APC optimism came on the heel of dismissal of petitions filed by the Action Democratic Party (ADP), Zenith Labour Party, ZLP and Allied People’s Movement (APM) by the Edo State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Abuja.
The dismissal of the petitions was handed down on Friday, following their sudden withdrawal against the APC and Governor Monday Okpebholo.
Comrade Wisdom Isaac who spoke on behalf of the petitioners had explained that their decisions to withdraw from the cases stemmed from a desire to prioritize the welfare and development of Edo State.
He underscored the importance of maintaining peace for the flourishing of the state, emphasizing that the petitioners did not intend to disrupt the governor’s efforts in leading the state.
He acknowledged that there will be future opportunities to demonstrate their zeal to lead the state as they set their sights on the 2028 gubernatorial election.
Counsel for the Allied People’s Movement, Jackson Ehiabhi echoed the same sentiments, asserting that the petitioners chose to avoid distracting the governor from his responsibilities, placing the well-being of Edo State above their individual ambitions
With the tribunal’s dismissal of the petitions, a total of four cases have now been put to rest, with the focus shifting towards the petition filed by the PDP.
The APC, however, said it is hopeful that PDP will follow suit by withdrawing its petition the way other parties did, having been faced with real facts that their allegations lacked substantial foundation as evidenced in the weak testimonies of their witnesses at the tribunal.
In the meantime, APC and Governor Monday Okpebholo are expected to open their defense against the PDP petition to justify their victory at the last year gubernatorial election. https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&opi=89978449&url=https://dailypost.ng/2025/02/08/edo-guber-tribunal-dismisses-apm-adp-zlps-petitions-as-apc-awaits-petition-withdrawal-by-pdp/&ved=2ahUKEwjLhJTo3raLAxUoQUEAHaBcAE4QFnoECBcQAQ&usg=AOvVaw0c1uicaOE_fMQnBsxAqi6f

ElevationD: “This precedent likely cast a long shadow over INEC’s legal strategy. The PDP’s case hinges on evidence certified by INEC itself, including election documents and BVAS data. To defend the APC’s declared victory, INEC would have needed to discredit its own certified records—a move that would have exposed its officials to potential perjury charges if their testimony contradicted the evidence.
This decision mirrors INEC’s approach during the 2023 Kano governorship election petition, where the Commission also refused to call witnesses. That gamble backfired when the Tribunal ruled against INEC. While avoiding the stand spares its staff the risk of criminal liability and public humiliation, it leaves the Commission’s legal position precarious.”
Akpakomiza, did you read the above part of the topic? Please read it again, using the same failed strategy of INEC in Kano state, to tell us where the hope of APC lies.
The next question is just what everyone’s asking, except you. Why did INEC not bother to defend details in the BVAS machines and other electoral materials used by them to conduct the election?
Just like we read about perjury, is hiding afraid of anything? Oga in atiku vs Buhari and in obi vs tinubu, inec did not put up any defence. In Kano, inec and NNPP where on the same side. Why should I never bother itself when pdp already failed to put up a good attack? The problem with you anti APC is that you do not understand anything about politics or elections. The entire burden of proving rigging is on PDP and they failed to do that.its over |
