PoliticsORO Youths Slam Ita Awak For Lying About Assassination Plot by akstrending(op): 8:19am On Dec 28, 2015
ORO YOUTHS MOVEMENT

1 Enwang / Ibaka Road, Mbo Local Government Area

PRESS STATEMENT

RE- PLOT TO ASSASSINATE ITA AWAK

Our attention has been drawn to yet another onslaught in the orchestrated and deliberate smear campaign of calumny mounted by Mr Ita Awak, self acclaimed publicity secretary of APC, Akwa Ibom State Chapter, with the sole objective of blackmailing His Excellency Deacon Udom Gabriel Emmanuel, Executive Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Senator Godswill Obot Akpabio, immediate past Governor of the state and now the Senate Minority Leader and Rt. Hon. Victor Antai, Honourable Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs.

This latest effort as being circulated online is another new arrival on the ever increasing character assassination on the trio of Deacon Udom Emmanuel, Senator Godswill Akpabio and Rt Hon Victor Antai by agents of APC and Mr. Ita Awak.

The said story read in part: “Mr. Victor Etim Antai, the former Local Government Chairman of my native MBO local government and the current Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs in the Udom Emmanuel interregnum, was given the responsibility to see to my assassination; in the same manner that Mr. Okpo Ekere was brutally murder on May 18, 2012.

“I am made to know that the killers have so far made 3 unsuccessful attempts to kill me. Indeed, they were rehearsing how to make a new attempt on my life yesterday at a hidden place in Uyo”.

Ordinarily, we would have ignored the garbage circulated by Mr. Ita Awak, and his sponsors, and not dignify them with a comment, but for the fact that, the unsuspecting public may be misled and hoodwinked into entertaining their concocted tales as truth.

We also want to put on record that the peaceful co-existence between the three Senatorial Districts represent a positive indication that, the Udom Emmanuel’s led administration has created a conducive and people friendly environment for all and sundry.

This is indeed a sad development which the APC both national and state will do well to arrest, so as to restore the vanishing integrity of Akwa Ibom people.

While we call on the public to ignore and discountenance the false alarm as the said story exists only in the imagination of Mr. Ita Awak who has benefitted so much from the past administration of Senator Godswill and Rt. Hon Victor Antai, who personally introduced him to Obong Umana Okon Umana when he was in PDP.

We want to use this medium to inform the general public, the Police, all security agencies that Mr. Ita Awak is actually the person seeking to assassinate Rt Hon. Victor Antai because this is the second time he has raised false alarm on a purported assassination attempt on his life without reporting to the security agencies for appropriate actions.

It should be noted that Rt. Hon Victor Antai before becoming the Chairman of Mbo LGA did resuscitate electricity in parts of Oron LGA, Mbo LGA and Udung Uko LGA in 2002, he has so far given scholarship to students studying in various institutions, (including school fees for Mr. Ita Awak’s children), training of youths in various skills and has given over 60 cars to both indigenes and non-indigenes, which he (Ita Awak) is also a beneficiary.

We want to challenge Ita Awak to show us one person he has bought a bicycle for in his entire life time talk less of while he was the Commissioner for Information. We do not want to join issues with him because if we do, we will expose all what he did at his father’s house in the village with pictures within seven days.

This is the same man who couldn’t pay his house rent at Ewet Housing Estate and was thrown out by the landlord but was rescue by Senator Akpabio who came to visit Arch. Otu Ita Toyo and met him and his family squatting in a garage as a house boy.

The same Akpabio whom Ita Awak is claiming to plot his assassination gave him (Ita Awak) Millions of Naira in cash to rent a house and further gave him a contract at Essien Udim to use the proceeds to build himself a house. The house which he has not been able to complete because of his extravagance lifestyle and patronage of women of easy virtue.

It is a known fact that Ita Awak is not on ground politically, even in his unit. This is why he wants cheap popularity and to incite the people against his benefactors; His Excellency, Deacon Udom Emmanuel, Senator Godswill Akpabio and Rt. Hon Victor Antai.

We reaffirmed that we stand by the zoning principles of Akwa Ibom State and also affirm our support for His Excellency Deacon Udom Emmanuel.

ITA AWAK: THE LAMENTATION OF A CURSED POLITICIAN :BY FRIDAY WILLIE

“Whoever rewarded evil for good, evil shall never depart from his house”-Prov. 17:13.

The above passage of the holy book, in a nutshell summarizes the fate of Ita Awak, a renowned frustrated member of the Rosicrucian Order, who out of his inability to prepare his exit in the AMORC mystic has ventured into tarnishing the image of individuals, groups and government.

As I flipped through his latest juvenile delinquency on the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, I realized that, Ita Awak is still not fit to be an image maker of any body, talk less of a political party. Well, since he is a state image maker of an opposition political party, it is understood.

In that false alarm, he had claimed that, Hon. Victor Antai, wants to employ five members of confraternity to kill him. He refused to state if Antai is a member of the cult group, which would have lured him to mobilize his members to unleash such attack on him. He also didn’t state reason why the sect wants to exterminate him and possibly enumerate benefit the body will gain in killing a cursed politician.

I want to commend the Honourable Commissioner for not joining issues with him. If he had refuted, it would have tantamount to dancing with a mad man on the street.

This is the second time Ita has raised false alarm, indicting Hon. Victor Antai of plotting to kill him. I thank God, that, this time, he has inculcated Confraternity into his blackmail. It is now left for members of this group to find out why Ita should leave all the cult organizations, only to chide Aye Confraternity.

I doubt if he would have lied against Supreme Vikings Confraternity, KKK or even Mafia/ Mafiaso. It is a dent on the image of , and if the members don’t put an end to this, I am certain that, the name of the group will continually be tarnished by Ita Awak and by extension, the APC family.

Yesterday, when the alarm was raised on the social media, someone commented, “So now breeds assassins”, as such, I perceived such comment as the reflection of the public perception about a group which has been in existence since 1977. It is a pity that, politics has lured Ita Awak to rubbish the image of just like that. A group we wanted to be a member, while in higher institution, as a result of upright men who were components of the group.

If are taking this issue for granted, then they should be rest assured that, with the rate Ita Awak is going, very soon, he will blackmail even the .

As a frustrated blackmailer, which he is, should know that, the ploy by Ita Awak is not aimed at attacking Victor Antai, rather he is trying to castigate the group, knowing fully well that, some members of the body are dining and wining with the government of the day. He is of the myopic opinion that, if he can stop from participating in the forth coming re-run, then, his party, will have a lee way into the governorship race.

It is somehow ridiculous to hear that, an AMORC man is afraid of members of Axe Confraternity. A clearer look at the owl known as Ita Awak shows that, his integrity is diminishing in his family, village and the nation as a whole.

I started noticing his nuisance in the Akwa Ibom society, when as a former commissioner for Information, Ita Awak stoop so low to go and struggle Publicity Secretary of APC with Samuel Udobong. I can’t understand the wisdom behind a former commissioner turning to online pest and going on air to rant just to gain relevance to his former colleague, who is now aspiring for governorship seat.

Has Ita recall that, Obong Umana Okon Umana, who he is now his bread winner and boss, was his mate at the State Executive Council, when Obong Attah was the governor of the state? Is he aware that, Chris Abasieyo, Frank Okon, Chief Godswill Akpabio, Obong Umana Okon Umana et al, were all his colleagues at the SEC? If he is aware, then his AMORC spirit should whisper to him that, he shouldn’t be a boy-boy forever. At least, he should grow from a journalist to a veteran Journalist. He should grow from a mere politician to an elder statesman. This role he is playing on social media is a disgrace to his family. His family head (If any) should draw his attention.

Age wise, Ita Awak is far older than Obong Umana Okon Umana. I am aware that, he is about 70 years, if such allegation is true, then what legacy is he trying to keep for his wayward children? His emergence as the Publicity Secretary of APC made ardent supporters of the party to withdraw. He pocketed all the cash kept for Pressmen at the official inauguration of Umana Okon Umana campaign, such criminal attitude led to the withdrawal of media practitioners from the group. The likes of Cletus Ukpong, Micheal Bush, Bonny Nyong and other younger journalists, left the scene because of the crafty nature of Ita Awak.

In return, Ita had and is still having a field day, by going to Planet FM to showcase his loquacious prowess. Ita, you don’t need to be visiting broadcasting stations on weekly basis. If you had studied Public Relations in the higher institution, you would have known that, such act could best be described as Sycophancy taken too far.

By virtue of his age, Ita should be seen as an elder statesman or at least a monarch, but the current status he has put himself into is rather unfortunate. Maybe, he wants to emulate Late Ononokpono.

If he was a Christian, at least God would have delivered him, but can God serve a cursed AMORC Nuisance? Each time I trace the mantle of curses besieging Ita Awak, I conclude that, Proverbs 17:13 is really manifesting on the life of Ita Awak.

I wasn’t surprised when he said that, assassins want to kill him, this is because, as an AMORC Member, Ita Awak may have been aware that he will soon die, thus, he wants to shift the blame to a political office holder. In that alarm, Ita said that, Victor Antai wants to kill him, in the manner Okpo was killed, he however refused to state if Late Okpo was as rascal as he is.

A clearer observation of the Publicity Secretary of APC false alarm indicates that, he wanted favour from the commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs. Maybe he taught that, Victor Antai will host his birthday for him, next year, or the commissioner will dash him another car to change his predicament.

I had expected Awak to tell the public how he confronted the emerging tiger of Oro Nation- Victor Antai, at a Patrol Station in Uyo, and pleaded with him to give him something for xmas. Will Ita deny that, on 26th December, he begged the commissioner for favour? And that the refusal of Antai paved way for his false allegation.

I didn’t want to dissect Ita Awak, it behooves on the gubernatorial candidate of APC to know that, it is not a good omen for an AMORC man to be the publicity secretary of a political party. Such upliftment is scaring, innocent members of the public may think that, both the APC gubernatorial candidate and his publicity secretary are worshipping in the same ORDER.

To showcase the uselessness of Ita Awak to the public, the man called Ita, was a friend to the elder brother of Honourable commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs. When the elder brother was alive, the Antai family used to cater for the downtrodden family of Ita Awak. He used to have one rickety 505 car, which was unable to climb the pavement of Victor Antai house in the village. On one occasion, the Honourable Commissioner blessed him with a Toyota Car of which he is still driving till date.

As if that wasn’t enough, it was Victor Antai, who took Ita Awak to Obong Umana Okon Umana and mandated him to support UOU, when Antai was canvassing support for UOU. It was on that day, that Ita Awak changed Victor Antai’s name to Shepherd and as well accepted to be the flock of Victor Antai. Even if Awak denies every other facts, I am so sure that, he can’t deny the fact that, Antai gave him the Toyota Car and that, till date, he still calls him, Shepherd.

Frankly speaking, Ita Awak is an assemblage of a Prodigal Son and biblical Cain. His virtue of Prodigal son is seen in his inability to have prepared his exit while he was serving as a commissioner. With all the cash he had, he rather choose to constantly sleep with Udotungubo Prostitutes. Also, his ‘Cainly’ attitude is seen in his ability to sell his birthright for houseboy syndrome. He accepted to call Victor Antai, a Shepherd, even when the latter is far back his junior. Even UOU he is worshipping is younger than him, yet he is calling himself the image of APC.

If Ita wasn’t a cursed fellow, I think, he would have preferred to be seen as Media Consultant, not State Publicity Secretary of an opposition party. That alone shows that, the virgina water that harlot poured on him on the 16th day of May, 2002 at Udotungubo brothel is gradually affecting his psyche.

The attack on Antai is not in isolation, it is motivated by the recent support the commissioner has been doling out to the Udom Gabriel Emmanuel on the internet. Awak feels that, if he can shut up the mouth of Victor Antai, he would have crippled the PDP family. It will be recalled, this is the same format an embryo in the propaganda family of the opposition party earlier accused Osondu Ahirika and imposed a name “Inibehe Udosen” on him, simply because Ahirika was fond of supporting government on the internet.

It is just a juvenile gambits, I wonder why Pa Ita Awak, who supposed to be a paramount ruler of his Local Government, if his character wasn’t questionable, should venture into such juvenile delinquency.

Like Antai, I wouldn’t want to refute his claim, I am aware that, Confraternity will soon come up with a Press Statement regarding the false alarm. Maybe after the statement, Ita Awak will understand that, there is different between government, individual and cult group.

That PDP has been keeping mute on him, shouldn’t make him to go extra miles in rubbishing the name of Axe confraternity.

PoliticsStop Crying Wolf Because You Were Not Appointed Minister, Umana Replies Falana by akstrending(op): 9:16am On Dec 24, 2015
The APC Governorship candidate in Akwa Ibom state, Mr Umana Umana has lashed out at legal luminary and human right activist Chief Femi Falana, saying he is crying wolf following his non-appointment as Minister of Justice by President Buhari.
Umana in reacting to Falana’s position on the discrepancies and inconsistencies in recent judiciary rulings that tended to be twisted in favour of APC candidates, said that Falana was merely aggrieved at not being appointed into Buhari’s government.
Speaking through his media assistants Iboro Otongaran and Kenneth Jimmy on the social media channels notably, nigerianworldforum@yahoogroups.com, africanworldforum@googlegroups.com, Ibomchronicle@yahoogroups.com, Mr Umana posited that “as a lawyer, Femi Falana should know that the law is what the court says. He should have withheld his opinion until the outcome of the Supreme Court appeal. If the Supreme Court affirms the decision of the appellate court, what would he say as a man who knows that he would not be able to go back to Channels TV to recant?”
The APC candidate suggested that, “What Falana should be doing now is to reconcile the current clamouring for the removal of petroleum subsidy against his position in January, 2012.”
Umana maintained that Falana “would not have gone to Channels TV to talk about Akwa Ibom election matters if his name was not dropped from the ministerial nomination list.”
It would be recalled that Falana had warned the All Progressives Congress to stop the wanton destruction of the Country’s Judiciary over what he termed as greedy political agitation, which is capable of dividing the country.
Falana in the interview said the judgement contradicted both the Supreme Court precedence and the Constitution and wondered how the same Appeal Court which dismissed the use of card readers in the Lagos Governorship Election as upheld by the supreme Court, would use card readers to invalidate the elections in Akwa Ibom state.

PoliticsUmana Umana Fights Back...kidnaps Aniekan Umanah's Brother by akstrending(op): 4:18pm On Dec 10, 2015
The Governorship candidate of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in Akwa Ibom State, Obong Umana Umana has taken his political battle with the Governor of the state, Udom Emmanuel to a new dimension by abducting the elder brother of the Commissioner for Information, Mr Ifiok Umana.

Umana is currently challenging the election of Mr Udom Emmanuel at the Court of Appeal after theGovernorship election Petition Tribunal upheld the Election of the Governor and ordered a re-run in 18 local government areas.

Mr Ifiok John Umanah, a retired banker was Tuesday evening whisked off into a red Toyota Highlander Jeep to an unknown destination.

According to eye witnesses at the scene of the incidence, Mr Ifiok Umanah was dragged away by gun-wielding unknown men who chanted 'udom must go' as they shot into the air while drawing him into their own car.

It would be recalled that intelligence reports had revealed that APC two weeks ago, had marked some key PDP stakeholders for attack, with the hope of weakening the Udom Emmanuel 'as support base.

Several media channels had also reported that some alleged cult boys had been approached and induced with huge sums of money to destabilise the mindset of Governor Emmanuel's supporters by either kidnapping or maiming their love ones.

Although the commissioner could not be reached at press time, a close family member confirmed the development and said the security agencies have been contacted and promptly informed of the saga.

Umana recently issued a press statement and published it on page 38 of The Nation Newspaper on Monday 29th November, 2015 accusing Mr Aniekan Umanah of coordinating attacks on his person and the All Progressive Congress in Akwa Ibom State.

According to Umana, "The smear campaign, through a network of social media, the printed press, radio and television, is coordinated by the state's Commissioner for information, Mr Aniekan Umanah, in the express instruction of the state Governor, Deacon Udom Emmanuel"

Umana also said that "On 13 August 2015, the Aniekan Umanah propaganda machine levied a totally false allegation against the President and Commander-in-Chief, President Muhammadu Buhari, by accusing him of abandoning Umana..."

Umana also said that On " 3 October 2015, Aniekan Umanah instructed his team to publish false information that Umana Okon Umana, Governorship candidate of the state APC was attacking the President for nominating Senator Udoma Udo Udoma for ministerial appointment... "

Umana has on various fora openly attacked Aniekan Umanah for instigating the press against him and for always defending the Udom Emmanuel government against the lies spilled from the APC camp.

The kidnap comes barely few hours after the Akwa Ibom Information Commissioner foiled attempts by the APC guber hopeful to misinform the Akwa Ibom people about proceedings from the Court of Appeal.

Mr Ifiok Umanah is still in the hands of his abductors.

CelebritiesSenator Godswill Akpabio At 53 By Joe Iniodu by akstrending(op): 12:29am On Dec 09, 2015
It was Ralph Waldo Emerson who observed that the world makes way for the man who knows where he is. His Excellency, Senator Godswill Obot Akpabio may have suffered privations arising from the early loss of his father, but he knew where he was going and the world made way for him. At 53, he has proved eloquently that it is not how long but how well.
Born on December 9, 1962 and raised by a widow mother who foisted on his psyche the pep talk that the father left him to go to Heaven because God created him a strong boy, little Godswill became a man very early in life.

At the age of ten, he travelled completely on his own to Kaduna to seek admission into Nigerian Military School located in that State. He failed to clinch the admission because fate was preparing for him another platform that he would use to galvanize change.
His admission and enrolment into Federal Government College which came unexpectedly and turned him into numero uno of the Akpabio clan to gain admission into Federal Government College established for Godswill a path of providence that he was to tread. It was therefore not a surprise that in that School, he shone like a meteor and became the General Senior Prefect because God was in toe with him. His advent into the University of Calabar where he studied Law was not different as he ascended the leadership throne of Speaker of the Students’ Union Parliament with minimal efforts.
Senator Akpabio’s foray into public life has also been intriguing with hints of divination. His career as a lawyer saw him co-founding Paul Usoro and Co.

When he decided to venture into the corporate world, the rise was also meteoric signaling a man who was truly in partnership with God. His rise from executive director in EMIS TELEOMS within a short span of time to the position of managing director was a testament of a man of goodwill and recognizable administrative savvy.
While in EMIS, service to his people beckoned as he was appointed by the then administration of His Excellency, Obong Victor Attah into the State Executive Council. He served variously in three key ministries.

As it is often said, it is not the office that makes the man but it is the man that makes the office. Godswill Akpabio turned the ministries he was sent to into beehive of activities. For instance at the time of arriving the ministry of local government and chieftaincy affairs, the place was a dead end owing areas of salaries and looking desolate with obsolete equipment and furniture that had become eyesores. Armed with his mantra of living a place better than he met it, Akpabio turned the place around. By the time he left, Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs had become a juicy ministry eagerly sought after by new appointees to the State Executive Council.

In 2007, his unbridled passion for change prodded him into the governorship race. The odds appeared stacked against him but his daring and strong will were also formidable. The courage and daring saw him trouncing 57 gladiators to emerge the standard bearer of PDP. He won that election and was sworn in as the third democratically elected governor of the State. On the day of that swearing-in, he quipped a comment: “This is Godswill Akpabio reporting for duty…” Eight years later, he had a robust report card to present with pride.

Godswill Akpabio came into governance prepared. Indeed it was an opportunity encountering a prepared man. He pursued governance with zeal and alacrity breaking the drudgery that defined government and setting new benchmarks. He developed a motto that was christened uncommon transformation and imbued it with factual meaning. He changed the physical landscape of the State and the mental infrastructure of the people. He changed the narrative of Akwa Ibom people turning them from a hitherto timid lot to assertive personalities. Infact his years have been christened as the golden era leading one of his admirers to evolve a slogan, Godswill, Iya umiss.

Today, Akwa Ibom is a well defined destination. Our State now serves as home for conferences, workshops and seminars competing with only Abuja and Lagos. Our people are now proud to mention the name of the State anywhere knowing that they would be accorded respect. Akwa Ibom has changed for good for ever. All these have been made possible by Godswill Akpabio whom the people gladly rewarded by electing him a Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. His patent leadership qualities led to his being elected Senate Minority Leader even as a first timer.
As Senator Godswill Akpabio celebrates his 53 years on earth today, let us thank God for blessing us with this enigmatic leader and endowing him with the leadership attributes he used to galvanize us out of the doldrums. Let us offer him our prayers of good faith and let us pray God to continue to endow him for the benefit of our State and Nation.

PoliticsUmana And Ita Awak : A Failed Evil Tandem :by Umar Saleh by akstrending(op): 8:13pm On Nov 21, 2015
When a butterfly thinks himself a bird, the error will bring him to disaster.
Somebody should call Mr Ita Awak to order before he loses his sanity. His new hobby is to go on radio interviews to insult, the governor of his state, Mr. Udom Gabriel Emmanuel.
Its easy for Awak to doo so, week after week.
He cannot afford the airtime, but someone, Obong Umana Okon Umana has agreed to pay the charge, and let him do the only thing he is good at, Blackmailing and insulting people who are light years ahead of him.

The case of Ita Awak is truly pathetic, Nobody should envy a failed politician and one time Commissioner who was thrown out because he couldn't perform.
Awak was a former commissioner for information and also works, but he has no house of his own.
To survive, he must do the dirty job of scavenging for crumbs from the table of a more desperate politician, Umana Umana. He is not in bad tandem. Evil begets evil just like a pit toilet will attract flies.

Awak will feel comfortable in Umana's company. Awak is a man who was broke and begging to survive. A meeting with Chief Godswill Akpabio changed his story. Akpabio who is a known cheerful giver arranged 10million for Ita Awak to come out of distress. Today, the ungrateful Awak joins Umana, who also benefited so much from Akpabio, to call their benefactor all type of names. Ingratitude is the curse Awak is living with. That's the reason he remains a failure in life.
Awak is desperately clinging to Umana, hoping that Umana will give him opportunity to loot Akwa Ibom, if he becomes governor.

That dream is a failed dream as Mr. Udom Emmanuel remains the governor of Akwa Ibom State . I don't envy Awak, his job is a difficult one, to earn his pay, he has to insult Udom, lie against him and fabricate any allegation that make the governor look bad. That part of his job is even easy compared to the other, which is to clean up Umana Umana's battered image. Umana Umana is the most power hungry man alive in Nigeria today. After looting Akwa Ibom treasury and stockpiling billions, Umana think he can buy the Hilltop Mansion.

Civil servants know what they suffered when Umana was Secretary to State Government.
His colleagues in the State Executive Council remember him with fear.
The man behave like god when he was wielding power under Akpabio, he taught he was all and all until he fell from power. Pride usually go before a fall. Umana is desperately looking for power so he can behave like an emperor again. He wants to continue looting the state with his AEC works.

He used companies to award many contracts to himself and abandon them like the Use Ikot Ama Ama road. He employ Ita Awak to do the job of deceiving people and presenting him as a good man who cares about the common good of the people.
That's why, the fear of Udoedehe is the beginning of wisdom. Senator Udoedehe, factional leader of the All Progressives Congress in the State has exposed them.
He reveal to the people the true identity and character of Umana Umana and how he bribed APC national leaders to hijack the party.
Udoedehe accused him of involving in kidnapping and murder of some prominent Akwa Ibom people. But, till today, Umana is yet to defend himself.

Instead Ita Awak is the one making noise, insulting the Senator and lying about how good Umana is. The people of Akwa Ibom should ignore Awak.
Ita Awak blackmailed his brother Chief Chris Abasi Eyo just to become relevant. He has always been a traitor, backstabbing people and biting the fingers that feeds him.
One day and very soon, he will turn against his new leader Umana. But for now, since he is getting paid to do the dirty job, he will stay loyal. What a shameless character, who prides himself as the factional Publicity Secretary of the APC in Akwa Ibom.

In an article, "What does Ita Awak really want?" Written by one Sylvester Akwang, he made comments about Awak which I also agree is very true about the man who knows no shame and lacks character. Akwang wrote and I quote: "Talk, they say is cheap. It is even cheaper when it is issuing from an unstable and desperate mind.
And in the infantile emission of such cheap talk, the consequences or costs of are neither considered nor adjusted to be in tandem with public good. For such people, if they can hew out.

Political capital from such indiscretion, then it would have served their warped purpose.
Since former failed commissioner Ita Awak was handed down the difficult job of speaking for a party that is still clawing the Akwa Ibom earth in a bid to pitch its tent, he has thrown all cautions to the wind.
To impress his paymasters who want him to justify their colossal expenditure, “Engineer” Ita Awak has sought to build bridges where there are no rivers, make mountains out of mole hills and act more catholic than the pope. Driven, perhaps by the moral imperative to earn his pay, Awak is like a loose canon; a disaster always waiting to happen.." Who will help save this doomed mad man from himself?

Crime[INVESTIGATION] Nigerian Police Turns Keke Operators Into Offering Tray In Uyo. by akstrending(op): 5:27am On Nov 12, 2015
In spite of the anti-corruption drive by President Mohammadu Buhari administration and several warnings by the Inspector General of police, Mr. Solomon Arase on policemen to stop demanding and collecting money from motorists as such action belittle them and the force, policemen on duty at night in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State are still extorting money from keke operators at night.

Investigations by The Sensor reporter revealed that policeman stationed at strategic locations within Uyo city have made it a habit to come out to the road from 9pm in the night and extort money from tricycle operators. The policemen who are usually armed with guns have been seen flagging down tricycle operators as if they want to check their particulars and would deliberately delay the keke man with passengers until the keke operator pays N50.

Aggrieved keke operators who spoke to our reporter on condition of anonymity said most night they spent up to N500 depending on how many times they pass through such road check points.
They lamented that the activities of the policemen have discouraged many of their colleagues from plying the road up to 9pm while others that do it select the roads they convey passengers to within the town. It was gathered that the police patrol team located near the university of Uyo main gate, Ikpa road by CCC junction, Abak road by Uniuyo teaching hospital, Uyo village road among other areas have virtually abandoned their primary duty to extort money from keke operators at night with impunity.

Worried by this development same tricycle operators in Uyo who narrated their experience have appealed to the state commissioner of police to call these erring police personnel to order.
They have also called on the leadership of tricycle operators in the state to intervene in the matter to stop more tricycle operators from withdrawing their services at night in Uyo.

PoliticsAkwa Ibom State Governor, Mr. Udom Emmanuel Administering Oath Of Office To The by akstrending(op): 10:11pm On Nov 09, 2015
Akwa Ibom State Governor, Mr. Udom Emmanuel has called on the newly sworn-in Head of Civil Service, Mrs. Ekerebong Akpan to ensure a complete turnaround in the operations of the civil service as this would checkmate falsification of records and redundancy in the service.

Governor Emmanuel made the call while administering oath of office to the new Head of Service, Mrs. Ekerebong Akpan at the Executive Council Chambers, Government House, Uyo.

He spoke of Mrs. Akpan’s appointment as an icing on the cake and maintained that her appointment comes at the time the State is being re-positioned for optimal performance in line with global best practices.

The State Chief Executive stated that the new job is challenging as she would be misquoted and misrepresented in the course of discharging her duties and advised her to inject new life and core values into the service stressing that much is expected of her. He congratulated the outgoing Head of Service, Mrs Cecilia Udoessien on her successful career and commended her dedication and commitment to the service of the State.

Governor Emmanuel used the occasion to debunk the rumour making the rounds that some newly recruited staff in the state employ have been denied salaries, stating that the recruitment exercise was marred by irregularities as some fake letters of appointment were issued to unsuspecting applicants.

He said that a committee has been set-up to review the last recruitment exercise and that those legitimately recruited into the service will get their benefits as soon as the Committee concludes its assignment.

Briefing Government House Correspondents soon after her inauguration, Mrs. Ekerebong Akpan, said that she is committed to the restoration of core values where excellence and dedication to duty is the watchword.

She urged Civil Servants across the state to key into the new vision of hard work and transparency and assured that committed workers in the government employ would be rewarded.

Until her appointment, Mrs. Ekerebong Akpan who is an astute administrator, public relations practitioner and a consultant trainer was the Permanent Secretary, Hospitals Management Board in the Akwa Ibom State Civil Service.

Her coming into the State Civil Service dates back to 1981, where she secured employment as Lecturer Two and rose to the position of a Principal in the Akwa Ibom State Civil Service Training Centre in 2004. Her appointment as Permanent Secretary came in 2010 and she was deployed to the Department of Establishments.

A Second Class Upper Division graduate of Sociology in the University of Lagos and a Fellow of the Institute of Corporate Administration, Mrs. Akpan has attended seminars and workshops both Locally and Internationally and has to her credit several meritorious and excellence awards.

PoliticsGovernor Udom Emmanuel Will Revolutionize A' Ibom Power Sector- Dr . Victor Udo by akstrending(op): 12:46pm On Nov 08, 2015
GOVERNOR UDOM EMMANUEL WILL REVOLUTIONIZE A' IBOM POWER SECTOR- Dr . VICTOR UDOH

The Managing Director of Ibom Power Plant, IPP, Engr. Victor Udoh has assured that, Governor Udom Emmanuel has a clear blueprint for revolutionizing the power generation capacity of the state's independent power plant.
Addressing newsmen in his office, Dr Victor commended the Federal Government, for issuing Akwa Ibom Ibom Power Plant, license to generate additional 500 megawatts of electricity.
The amended license issued the Government of Akwa Ibom State, promoter of Ibom Power Plant, has now increased its generating capacity from 190 megawatts to 700 megawatts.
Engr Victor who was the Senior Special Assistant to former Governor Godswill Akpabio on Power revealed that, Governor Emmanuel had given the management of Ibom Power marching orders to reposition the company for the expected industrialization boom that is about to yield in the state.
He explained that, his three pronged programme of action in the place as directed by the governor includes, to stabilize the IPP, build capacity and instill good corporate governance.
The IPP Managing Director disclosed that, the company is on course to fulfil these goals as they have had 114 days of power generation without forced outage which shows a measure of stability in the system. He further added that, in capacity building, the company has a pool of interns, apprentices and succession plan for all category of staff and is capable of exporting expertise without feeling its shock or having any void.
On good corporate governance, Engr. Udoh argued that, as one with vast experience from corporate America where he practiced and with a governor who comes from a rich background of corporate governance, the company is being steered to become income generating, profitable and stop over dependence on government funding. He said, they have evolved a business plan that, employees understand, maintaining that, the goal is to move the state away from civil service and government to a private sector driven society and into corporate Nigeria.

While disclosing that, The Ibom Power Plant at present supplies 190mw to the national grid, Engr. Victor explained that, Governor Emmanuel received the license from the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission, NERC, on behalf of the state and the company’s management to kick start the second phase of the IPP, after the documentation required for licensing had been completed. He also disclosed that, the project is going to create job opportunities with a spiral effect as fencing the site has already started. Other jobs include geotechnical services, equipment procurement which Engr. Victor said are ongoing, stressing that, after the project is completed, IPP can export power and it will ensure a stream of income for the state which will retain a significant share in the company.
On the issue of gas to power the IPP's increased capacity, Engr. Victor insisted that, this is not a power plant that would have gas supply challenges. He reiterated Governor Emmanuel's. Declaration, that, "We have set up a gas processing plant that is supplying gas to the adjoining power plants. We would soon come for an embedded generation license that would supply power to our industrial estates to be established along the coastal line.”
He added his voice to that of the governor, in appealing to the Transmission Company of Nigeria, TCN, to improve its network, ahead of the completion of the expanded power plant so that the evacuation of power and subsequent distribution of same will be efficient and without hitches.
It will be recalled that, Governor Emmanuel disclosed that the state government had invested $22million on transmission networks and that it would be a wasted investment if there would be no corresponding investment in transmission line by TCN to evacuate the generated power.
Engr. Udoh expressed optimism that, the power purchase agreements made by the IPP with the Nigeria Bulk Electricity trading company is workable and will bid well for the company's future.
On the environmental impact of the anticipated expansion, Engr. Udoh dismissed any fears maintaining that,a comprehensive assessment of the environmental impact was done, an revealed that, the noise, vibration level and air pollution level are well within acceptable standards and isn't harmful to the society.
He therefore sued for support from the good people of Akwa Ibom state for Governor emmanuel, harping that, he came prepared for the top job of leading the state and has such a clear vision and blue print to industrialize Akwa Ibom and transform her vast coast line to the busiest industrial belt in the sub region

PoliticsCHEERLEADERS :journey Of A Thousand Miles by akstrending(op): 11:55am On Nov 07, 2015
CHEERLEADERS :Journey Of A Thousand Miles

It’s yet another memorable day for the Akwa Ibomites as we recap our minds back to November 7th, 2014’s ceremony. The then president of Nigeria, Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan,GCFR, in company of the president of Ghana, John Dramani Mahama and the Ivorian Head of State, Dr. Alassane Ouattra, commissioned the prestigious Godswill Akpabio’s International Stadium (formerly known as Ibom International Stadium) in the presence of special dignitaries within and outside the country.

This grand ceremony was hosted by the then Governor of Akwa Ibom State, the very one whose great ideas and innovative mind had birthed the gathering, our own Senator Godswill Obot Akpabio .

Adding colour to the event was the performances by various artists in Nigeria including Mish, the Mavins Crew, Kcee, the Akwa Ibom Entertainers Forum etc. Unknown to the audience, all that was just a tip of the iceberg, as the Ibom Cheerleaders were yet to stun them with their outrageous performance.

It was the first time the Ibom Cheerleaders performed during an official function, the people were amazed at the grounds breaking performance of the cheerleaders and there were lots of ululations from the crowd.

This beautiful performance did not only bring publicity to us, it also created a pathway through which we moved to another level, as we were being invited to cheer for the Super Eagles during their games against South Africa.

As a give back to the society that accepted and supported us, the Ibom Cheerleaders group organised their end of year party which held at Four Lane by Water Fountain. It encapsulated various competitive performances by the Cheerleaders and the masses.

It ended with a lot of smiles and laughter as everyone went home fulfilled with their gifts and success being the watchword, we never relented as we made a progression into the New Year, 2015, with the vision being high, on January/February, the cheerleaders joined other dignitaries to receive the former president and his wife on an official visit to the state.

The month of March was not left out as there came another great opportunity to support and cheer Nigeria’s game against Uganda, a game which marked Vincent Enyeama as the most capped player in Nigeria’s football history.
Thereafter, we did something out of our innovative minds again, the Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign Programme.
On 1st May 2015, we launched our Breast Cancer Awareness Programme at the Uyo Township Stadium.

This outstanding programme, brought us a step forward because as a result of it, we were given recognition and support by the then Governor of the state, Senator Godswill Akpabio.
It is said that success comes as a result of hard work , through our hard work, perseverance and commitment, our success story continued.

In June, we cheered the Super Eagles game against chad for AFCON qualifiers preparatory match in kaduna. That was our first out of state function and it did create a bridge for us to cross over to another phase as with the help of the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the NFF, the cheerleaders were among the contingents that travelled to Tanzania for the AFCON Qualifiers game 2017 to cheer the Super Eagles.

Furthermore, the Cheerleaders were not left out at state functions. We as usual were there to add colour to the Akwa Ibom DAKKADA programme organised by our Dear Governor, Mr. Udom Gabriel Emmanuel. This event marked the twenty eighth year anniversary of Akwa Ibom held on the 23rd of September, 2015, at the Godswill Akpabio International stadium. On the first of October, 2015, we also joined the state in celebrating the 55th anniversary of Nigeria’s Independence which was celebrated in a grand style at the Uyo Township Stadium.
Within the same month, we were in Port Harcourt to cheer Super Eagles against Burkina Faso (CHAN Qualifiers Match).
The Breast Cancer Awareness Programme for the month of October was the next exuberant event.

The Cheerleaders Nigeria took it up on them to educate people about this disease. It all ended in a grand style as the outcome was the international recognition the Cheerleaders gained through the campaign. This was carried by the media and documented in the Ink Newspaper. The programme was also aired live on DSTV.

It is worthy of note that the cheerleaders Nigeria have supported and cheered the Akwa United football team to victory in almost all their matches especially the home games. Also, since cheerleading is a sport, the team is working hand in hand with the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Akwa Ibom State to take sports to the next level.

Creative and resourceful as the Ibom Cheerleaders always are, they had dived beyond just cheering for football games into gymnastics which can be considered to be an unturned stone in our dear state. At the moment, we are still undergoing some gymnastics training and we hope to achieve our goal as we will be embarking on a trip to Abuja for a gymnastics course which would help us compete with the outer world.

Nobody ever achieves in life or gets to the peak without encountering challenges and difficulties. Therefore just as we have breakthroughs, we also have had so many challenges. It has not been a bed of roses for the cheerleaders Nigeria to grow to the stage they are today. There have been criticisms and misconceptions from different spheres. For example, the scandal that girls in the team are being raised for prostitution, which is rather untrue.

They have also been a lot of difficulties in getting some parents to key into our dream and a bit of unwelcoming attitudes during our representations at some functions, but on the long run, it’s been beautiful as we are never relenting, rather, steering farther into greatness, and great we will remain, shinning as bright as a supernova beyond human imaginations because ours is a course to conquer.

Our goal has always been and will continue to be:
Creating a platform where every girl’s strength and talent can be showcased.
To promote the best of attitude in girls and make them know their true worth. To build them into great women in the nearest future and the role they have to play in promoting the interest of the society.
To provide an avenue for physical fitness and healthy living in girls.
To raise girls into role models and great leaders.

Our success story will not be complete if we fail to appreciate the various important personalities who have contributed immensely towards the growth of the cheerleading team. Our heartfelt gratitude go to:

Senator Godswill Obot Akpabio [former governor of Akwa Ibom State and his lovely wife, Ekaette Unoma Akpabio.
Deacon Udom Gabriel Emmanuel, the Executive Governor of Akwa Ibom state and his dear wife, Deaconness Martha Udom Emmanuel.
Senator and Mrs Obong Bassey Albert
Comrade Unyime Usoro, Former NLC chair person Mr Aniekpeno Mkpanang, The permanent Secretary on Special Services Mr Monday Ebong Uko, the Honourable Commissioner for Youths and Sports, Akwa Ibom State.
Otuekong Nse Edem, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Youth and Sports, Akwa Ibom State
Mr Amaju Pinnick, the Nigerian Football Federation Chairman
Mr Shehu Dikko, the Chairman, League Management Company (LMC)
Members of the African Sports TV on Super Sports, most especially, Mr Tola Badekale, Collins Udoh and Mozez Praiz
The NFF and NFPL Media Crew, especially, Mr Oluwatoyin Ibiyote.
Akwa Ibom State Journalists, Akwa Ibom State Online Practitioners, especially Ibommobile Crew and a host of others too numerous to mention.
May God bless you all.

Long live the Federal Republic of Nigeria Long live Akwa Ibom State
Long live the Cheerleaders Nigeria.
