America didn't do jack nor did Britian or any other 1st world country.

However you look at it - MS Windows running on PC hardware or any super computer specially designed for it is not better than Linux or Unix in the primary areas of security, stability, reliability and interoperability.

I am not dissing Microsh*t, in fact I use windows if the business case is right and it is only right on my intranet that I use it. I use aspx to write our database management system and try out some of their new technologies coming out.

But ask Seun what powers this website and you will find out that Windows wasn't his list choice. I will tell you this much - Opensource is the future,microsh*t is gradually loosing it's grip on the home and SMEs market bit by bit.

go to www.dnsstuff.com and do a spam database lookup with your mail server IP, it will list all anti-spam servers that have black-listed your server. You will have to email all those guys and convince them that the issue has been solved.

For yahoo and hotmail and other big webmail companies - you will have to do the same but they will ask you for detailed information.

1. What do i add on the websites - Do a research at your estate, 70 units aint that big, you will most likely know most the folks staying in those units and what they like and where they work. I am sure you can come up with something good, i.e notice of monthly meetings, latest news, you can use the site as an ad avenue so that residents can pay a small fee to announce their ceremonies etc.

2. How do i advertise the Website itself - Simple, by creating banners, using HTML and other presentable medium through the web.

3. How do i meet the Indivdiual needs of the residents - Depends on what those needs are. The most important thing is for you to decide what you want the site to do from scratch and you can build the foundation on those decisions but make sure you make the site very scalable so that it can adapt to future changes.

4. Is it possible to have a blogg as well where all residents can interact - yes it is

5. Is it going to be open to all on the Internet or just to residents - That is for you to decide but most likely the internet will be much better because you can reach out to a much wider audience.

Most Nigerians don't even know what a unix OS is or if there are other OSs apart from Windows. Legally, if all Nigerians were to get MS-Windows OSs the legal way, I reckon only few people would have access to Windows systems.

I will still tell you that MAC is the best OS I have used - rock solid, has a unix kernel, virus free and boy it rocks!

Can't say I am 100% sure that this is the command, I will verify from my friend tomorrow. Log in as root and issue the following command at the terminal

echo 1 > /proc/sys/net/ipv4/ip_forward

After that, restart squid and try your webcam. Let me know if it worked but I will confirm the command when I talk to my friend tomorrow.

I think it is your field that matters and what you are interested in. I am aware that the big mobile and communication companies in Nigeria send their staff out for training to Cisco, Intelsat, gilat, Redhat etc.

For us who are upcoming - we can rely on books and the Internet (I learnt most of the stuff I know from reading books i.e 90%). Also, google is an FBI tool that can help you alot. IN addition, if you can afford some specialised training, by all means go for it.

In africa, the afnog and afrinic organises seminars and training in so many areas. These training are held across most african countries. For afrinic www.afrinic.net, some of the courses are free but for afnog www.afnog.org - their seminars are not free.

Guys - face it, MAC is a far superior OS compared to Windows - if i had enough money I would get the new MAC that runs on Intel and dual boot with Windows and test both out.

Seun - There are apps for MACs that will amaze you and when compared to windows, doesn't even come close to functionalities and performance. FYI - I use a apple shark UHF decoder to watch local TV stations on my MAC, this is not a TV card my friend - with Windows you can't dream of such functionality.

Haven't you noticed that most apps written for windows has a MAC version as well? No wonder Bill wants to stop Windows Media Player and Office for MAC platform soon.

There are no need for insults in this matter, let us discuss this issue with our feets on the ground. I have been doing alot of digging into Islam about the holy prophet and Allah and the koran. I even bought a koran in English and the hadith to gain more insight. Islam is a way of life for muslims and they will do everything that the koran instructs just the way christians strive to do everything the bible teaches. The bible teaches peace and forgiveness so does Islam - However, there are so many contradictions that I found in the koran that I wish to raise. However, I will tell you guys this much

1. Violence in Islam is spiritual and it's real - When you understand this fact you will then digest why a man can kill another in the name of a god and you will understand why muslims act the way they do and the riots and killings that happen in the north will make more sense to you

2. There is no clear cut difference between politics & religion in Islam - How can you blow yourself up in the name of God for a political reason. Why do sunnis kill shiites and shias and vice - versa?

That been said, I also don't think it gives others the right to ridicule others religion in the name of free speech, I wouldn't be happy if someone depicted Jesus as a gay or a homosexual. In my view it is blasphamous, however - I wouldn't burn embassies down because of that or kill others because of that, my findings that violence in islam is spiritual.

So in conclusion, find out more about Islam so that you can be informed on how to deal with muslims

If you guys were given the option to own a band new car from one manufacturer that made everything and supported everything and another car that had it doors made by one manufacturer, it's engine by another, it tires by another, it's seat by another which would you choose? Simply put, windows is a whorish software - different components made by different manufacturers and alot of problems. Apple is one company that makes everything and it does it with style and class.

We shouldn't even compare MACs and microsh*t - Apple beats windows in every aspect hands down. Concerning prices, it is the system in Nigeria we should blame. In the states, you can buy an iBook G4 and pay $25 monthly, check www.apple.com/store. If we have a credit system in Nigeria, why can't people afford MACs. How many Nigerians can afford 45,000 naira to get a PC system, not many.

We shouldn't be happy because we can't get pirated MAC OS, it shows you that the guys at Apple are doing their job well. If we can get windows illegally - it doesn't make it a better choice, it just makes it our only choice.

I use windows to test my asp apps and other windows related project. Windows work in certain environments, I don't deny that but compared to MAC and Unix, guys - plzzzzz! Windows can't swim where the Unix sharks venture.

Simply put, Apple is the best OS I have everred use. I am running a mac-mini as an email, web and dns server for an ISP, can you beleive that? with the same hardware specs, windows will DIE!.

Also - check your DirectoryIndex directive in apache conf file, what did you name your files and how are you browsing to them. You can zip it up and sent it to me so that i can test it on my server.
