Labour Party Youths Protest; insists Sacked Chairman's Name be removed from INEC Website

Youths of labour party across Nigeria convened at Abuja yesterday to protest over the delays and illegitimate positions of INEC for its frivolous engagements with sacked party chairman, as well as the failure to install and recognise Dr. Mike  Omotosho as the legitimate National Chairman and leader of the party.

The call for the removal of  A.A Salam as the party leader on the official site of INEC became a priority with the incessant threats; distortion of party progress and the invasion of party secretariat with touts and thugs to sabotage developments in the party. According to youths who carried placards and posters chanting for the removal of A A Salam from the official website of the electoral commission, they spoke to our reporters saying that A A Salam is corrupt and is the reason why the party’s advancement was backslided.

According to the records A. A Salam embezzled over 1.4 billion naira belonging to the party and perpetrated alot of criminal activities, which eventually led to his removal. However, considering the National Convention of the party held last year, Dr. Mike Omotosho was elected by party members to be the new National Chairman of the party. Constitutionally, the results of the convention upholds Omotosho and puts an end to the reign of A.A Salam as the party chairman, but the Independent National Electoral Commission has failed to recognise the position of the party because the sacked chairman shares an unholy relationship with the commission.

The democratic move or protest as the case may be, had several youths holding placards and banners with inscriptions like “INEC legal dept should stop the game and recognise Mike Omotosho as party chairman”, “the court has ruled, Mike Omotosho is our chairman”, “remove A.A Salam from INEC website”, “INEC legal dept should do the needful omotosho is our chairman”, “INEC remove A.A Salam from your website and stop misleading the public”, “INEC cannot impose a corrupt leader on us” and several other inscriptions. However, this was a perfect expression of the plights, worries and challenges of labour party members on the position of INEC in the party’s leadership.

Dr. Mike Omotosho has commended party members and the youths of the party for coming out in such an amazing number to democratically clamour for what is right, he says, “we have come out to peacefully call on INEC to accept our submission on the issues surrounding the leadership of our party and we are sure that our voices will be held, and that the right thing will be done”. He concluded by encouraging Nigerians youths to always stand for truth and justic‎e

The Governance Support Group (GSG), a Group that specialized in the Change Agenda and consolidating for the successes recorded so far by the Present Administration of President Mohammed Buhari was yesterday inauguarted in Enugu for South East Zone

The Group has been in existence since this Present Administration came into existence. The group is being led by Barr Emeka Nwajiuba (Phd). Some zones has been inauguarated. 25th January,2018 was the turn of South East Zone.

In His Keynote Address delivered by the National Chairman of GSG, Hon. Barr Emeka Nwajiuba, a Former House of Representative member, said that GSG is not a Profit Governance Support Organisation. It is a global and National grassroots platform that encourages and upholds the ideals of good governance; a global and national grassroot initiative for the enthronment of good leadership, rule of law and democracy as a culture.

He said it is on account of that the GSG were compelled to register our sentiments of joy and hope with the present administration of President Muhammad Buhari which has left no stone unturn in its efforts to consolidate democratic principles and tenents in Nigeria. The regime has been outstanding in upholding accountability and transparency.

The battle which the present regime wages against the cankerworm of corruption is unprecedented and so many areas like agriculture which this Administration has recorded huge success. That Buhari Administration has taken bulls by horn as far as 2nd Niger Bridge is concerned; Enugu-Port Harcourt Road; Enugu-Onitsha Expressway; Enugu-Obollo-Oturkpo Road. These are strategic roads that were neglected by Past administration, he said.

He emphasied that The South East Arm of GSG is being inaugurated to observe, report and intervene in matters concerning Government policies, programmes and Projects and how they impact the people of South Eastern Region of the country. He maintained that the Group is not a platform to seek political office and they are not in competition with APC nor to drag party positions with them.

The first son of former governor of old Anambra State, Chief C C Onoh, has declared his support for President Muhammadu Buhari, who jailed his father in 1983 as a military Head of State.
Onoh's son, Chief GB Onoh, made the declaration at inauguration of the Governance Support Group(GSG), a political support think tank, in Enugu yesterday.
He said that it was time that Ndigbo realized their fortune and political future is better guaranteed and protected under Buhari.

While addressing the audience at the event, made up of select delegates from the five states of the Southeast region, he said, "You know thatBuhari jailed my father. You remember what happened after the 1983 coup, he arrested my father and put him in detention, so I am supposed to be the last man on earth to support Buhari for a second term in office come 2019.
"But I tell you today that President Buhari is the hope for the Southeast for us to get a shot at the Presidency. We must support him without any sentiment."
The Governance Support Group in the South East was inaugurated to support the campaign efforts of the ruling All Progressives Congress(APC) for President Buhari, an organization formed to ensure that Ndigbo contributed to Buhari re-election.

It will be recalled that a few days ago, APC leaders from the Southeast visited Buhari at AsoRock and became the first region to officially endorse Buhari for a second term in office.

Dismissed Labour Party Chairman Abdulkadir Abdulsalam Invade Secretariat With Thugs, Causes Havoc


The recently sacked labour party chairman, abdulkadir Abdulsalam has stormed the party secretariat with thugs to sabotage and disrupt the growth of the party.
This report was confirmed by the residents of Oke Agbe Street in Garki 2, few minutes ago, as the police who filed a petition alleging the involvement of ex LP chairman in a multi-billion naira scam fails to intervene in the situation, amidst the brutal operations of hired thugs in the party secretariat - what a contradiction.          
                   
However,The Nigeria Police has refused to intervene, but instead decides to watch their jungle boys who speculatively pays the piper and eventually dictates the tune; the Police has decided to protect thugs by refusing to enforce the law on civil security and peace resolution.                 
                    
A similar situation occurred with INEC, which till date refused to recognise the results of the party convention held last year that upholds Dr. Mike as the genuine elected chairman of the party. The question today is, was NPF and INEC established to dance the tune of politicians or are meant to sustain national interest in the favour of the entire Nigeria citizenry?
According to one of the party executives, he says, "Labour party will continue to grow, no matter the activities of saboteurs to the growth and development of our party.‎

The much anticipated Annual Arewa Youth Leadership Summit took centre stage over the weekend in Abuja with the presence of high profile northern groups and political personalities. ‎Critical issues of northern and national interest were buttressed and x-rayed in the theme " The Role of Today's Northern Youth In Shaping Nigeria's Tomorrow" in an earlier discourse of the event before the evening of award recognition and presentations.

‎The one day summit was put together by cross section of northern groups like Shehu  Usman  Abubakar  Foundation  (SUAF),  Arewa Young  Leaders  Initiative  (AYLI),  Triumphant  Youth  Foundation  (TYF),  Muhammadu  Anchau Foundation  (MAF)  supported  by  Federal  Ministry  of  Youth  and  Sports  Development  Abuja. The programme basically  provided a platform  for  Northern  youth  to  undertake  a  holistic  approach  to harness  the  real  participatory  power  of  young  people  and  their  readiness  to  get  involve  in  the peace,  security  and  economic  development,  develop  strategies  and  collaborations  for  effective youth  engagement  in  rebuilding  the  northern  region  and  beyond.  The  summit was situated within  the  critical  need  for  a  coordinated,  timely,  strategic,  assertive  and  impactful  youth engagement  in  their  community development process.   

According to the convener Mr Yusuf "Working  towards  Sustainable  Development  Goals  in  the  northern  region  requires  a concerted,  deliberate  and  timely  effort  if  the  challenges  of  our  times  are  to  be  met.  Ensuring northern  region  is  able  to  sustain  economic  and  social  activities  and  most  importantly,  life,  is more  critical  now  than  ever  before.  The  security,  Education  and  social  challenges  in  the region  have  negatively  impacted  on  the  peace,  management  of  natural  and  human  resources and  sustainable  activities  built  over  many  decades,  devastating  communities  and  livelihoods, the  urgent  need  to  enhance  youth  capacity  and  participation  in  decision-making  is  more prominent"

He further stressed that the youth will  be  creating  the future of Northern region but currently they are  beset with challenges  such as  crime, drugs, unemployment,  political  tuggery,  insurgency,  HIVAIDS  in  the  region.  Many  youth  feel hopeless  and  vulnerable.  
‎The summit  provided  participants  with  an excellent  opportunity  to  meet  face  to  face  and  proffered   positive  recommendations for  Youth,  the  region and charted the way forward for  the coming decades.‎‎

Veteran nollywood actress Empress Njamah has reacted over an interview she granted to a reporter of Punch Newspaper,  which she disclosed was far from what she said. It was reported that she feels offended when younger men woo her, but the Abuja based actress debunked making such statement as featured on a popular instagram account @instablog9ja.

Gali Umar Na’Abba, former speaker of the house of representatives, says in November 2017, President Muhammadu Buhari told members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) board of trustees that he would seek re-election in 2019.

Na’Abba, who is a member of the board, has vowed not to support Buhari’s re-election bid because the president “has not added even an inch of value to democracy”.

In an interview with Osasu Igbinedion, the former speaker accused the president of running a “one-man” government.

He said Buhari does not consult party members before taking decisions because he “considers them to be evil”.

“I had the occasion to sit down with the president and tell him this is what is wrong. And all he told me was that things were wrong before but now, with his election, everything is right now. And I was very very disappointed,” Na’Abbah said.

“A lot of people campaigned, supported him and elected him for one reason or the other. I decided to move back to APC from PDP to support him because from his utterances, I believed he wanted to add value to democracy.

“And this is three years into his administration, he doesn’t work with the party, he regards party members as evil, he doesn’t consult with anybody in the party and I am a member of the board of trustees, even though we don’t have it officially.

“The last time we had a meeting with such a board was in February 2016. Such meeting was called again in November 2017 when he decided he wanted to get re-elected and he needed us.

“He promised to reconstitute the board. Before, he refused to do that because he thought politicians are responsible for all the evils in this country. He also promised to increase the number of ministers.

“In a nutshell, the president has not added value to democracy by an inch.”

Asked if there was a chance that the APC would field another presidential candidate other that Buhari, Na’Abba said some party members have hijacked and pocketed the party.

He distanced himself from those endorsing the president for a second term.

“Nigerians have chosen democracy as the system within which and with which they produce their leaders, and that any president who comes must ensure that the democratic architecture is improved substantially because it has been weak, it is still weak and will continue to be weak,” he said.

“After I tell you that I am not going to support him or not, I want you to understand my reason. Today, we have no internal democracy in the country and the quality of leadership has been failing.

“Democracy, economy and society has not grown since 1999 and this is as a result of this tendency. And I have children, grandchildren and it is only when there is democracy that every Nigerian can be able to make it in life.

“There is no way I can support him.

“They said they have endorsed him to contest. I am sure they did not ask the opinion of anybody since they have put the party in their pocket.”
