SportsHow John Fashanu Involved George Weah In First 1996 UNICEF Project In Africa by AlexReports(op):
How Amb. John Fashanu Involved Liberia President- Elect George Weah In His First 1996 UNICEF Project In Africa

Former professional England footballer and ex- Aston Villa star Amb. John Fashanu had been a long time friend and colleague of former AC Millan star George Weah as both had worked on HUMANITERIAN projects in Africa for UNICEF.  The Liberia President- Elect was hosted for a dinner by John Fashanu with former Arsenal striker Ian Wright and their wives where he first disclosed to them in 1996 his intention to play in England and his excitement to work with UNICEF

According to Weah in Peoples Sports " I don't know what is going to happen in future but  if it's my destiny to come and play in England then I would love it and be very happy...I ve always known England as a very strong footballing nation. The league is very competitive and the national team's success underlines that".  ‎ He eventually moved to the Premier League towards the end of his career in the year 2000 and had spells at Chelsea and Manchester City, winning the FA Cup at the former, before returning to France to play for Marseille in 2001, and subsequently ending his career with Al-Jazira in 2003.

While in London during their active footballing days, Amb. John Fashanu who spearheaded a UNICEF project across Africa recommended the former European, African and World Footballer of the year to savaged the health challenges in Africa then. The former AC Millan star and Liberia President - Elect disclosed to Peoples Sports in 1996 how grateful he was to his friend Fash for getting him involved in the UNICEF project. " Fash is trying to make things happen so I can work with him and UNICEF in future. It's important we spread the message and create awareness among the less educated about ‎diseases such as AIDS". He further stressed with appreciation to Fash " it's an honour for me to be involved. I think it's essential we put something back into society"

George Weah was later named UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador ‎for his HUMANITERIAN roles in the project across African nations.  Though, soon after he pursued his political career alongside his UNICEF charity activities.

The billionaire sport Ambassador John Fashanu will be leading high profile contingent ‎and sports personalities from Nigeria to the presidential Inauguration of George Weah in Liberia on the 22nd of January, 2018.

Christianity EtcFrom Ibidunni Ighodalo Flows Milk Of Human Kindness by AlexReports(op): 8:25am On Jan 10, 2018
FROM IBIDUNNI IGHODALO FLOWS MILK OF HUMAN KINDNESS

The Yuletide and New Year celebration provided an opportunity for the Ibidunni Ighodalo Foundation o show care and compassion to others

Her eyes widened in perplexity. She looked at staff and the team of volunteers. They had worked very hard and were ready to call it a day, but she could not ignore the passionate plea from these three women carrying their babies. The ceremony was winding down. Against the good judgment of her staff that it was already dusk and that scarcity of petrol had made commuting very difficult, she persuaded them gently to re-consider the decision.

“We came here for these people. We cannot turn them back.” It was an appeal (not a command) from Mrs. Ibidunni Ighodalo, CEO of Elizabeth R, a top-notch events planning company and wife of Ituah Ighodalo, accountant and Senior Pastor of Trinity House. Persuading them with more soothing words, she moved ahead to make the women comfortable. Enveloping one of them in a hug, she took a baby from another.

It was the first edition of the Ibidunni Ighodalo Foundation baby shower charity called, Baby’s Day Out at the Open Field of the Millennium Housing Estate, better known as, Tinubu Estate in Ibeshe-Ikorodu, Lagos.

The IIF had announced that the event was for pregnant women and children between one day and one year old, but the organisers were forced to observe this restriction more in the breach-elderly women, teenagers and single ladies showed up in their thousands to benefit from the IIF largesse. Though there was a captive population in the estate, a teeming number of people joined them from nearby and far-flung neighbourhoods around Ikorodu and beyond.

Buses and trucks marked with the Trinity House and Elizabeth R insignia that carried various gift items were parked beside the field. Personnel from K-Square, a private security company were busy, trying to keep the children and their mothers from becoming unruly. There were two teams of men of the Nigeria Police keeping an eye on the crowd. Thank God, the situation never got out of control. By and large, the mild disruption was foisted on the event by parents who could not stay on the queue and excited children, who scampered to get a gift bag from Santa Claus.

The handout from the IIF were in different categories. Pregnant women were given clothes, baby bath set, raw food items and a bag filled with baby toiletries. Though some mothers tried to shave some months off their grown babies, officials of IIF insisted on giving the baby clothes to the right recipient. For the baby cot bed, pregnant women took to the dance floor to dance to music from DJ Shexy in order to decide who will take it home. The elderly women smiled home with one live chicken and food items.

Mrs. Ibijoke Adeboyejo said she was familiar with the charitable disposition of the Ighodalos since she worshipped under Pastor Ituah at the Redeemed Christian Church of God Christ Church, Gbagada. She got to know about the Baby’s Day Out on Facebook. Mrs. Olayinka Mokwenye heard of the charity through a friend. A good number of the women were residents of the estate. Many of them had modest expectations when they were notified of the event. But it turned out that the organisers exceeded their expectations by far.

Mrs. Bola Egbo, a teacher said she expected a children’s party. “The crowd is too much,” she said. Another teacher, Mrs. Sharon Uche who lives in the estate thought it was going to be a platform for evangelism. Her presumption was fulfilled in another way. “What the Ibidunni Ighodalo did was better than preaching and hitting people on the head with the Bible. They carried out practical Christianity.” Mrs. Shakirah Lawal, a Medical Laboratory Scientist said she saw much more than she expected. Mrs. Florence Uju confessed that the IIF came with loads of gifts, but advised that they should be better organized next time. Perhaps, the luckiest of the women was Mrs. Jennifer Ojukwu who was vising her sister in the estate. As a pregnant woman, she was not only gifted with items for her unborn baby and herself, her four children also went home with gifts.

An IIF spokesperson said the organization was growing fast and was beginning to accommodate responsibilities which were not part of its original obligation. “We set out to help couples who were challenged with conception. It was a simple obedience to God. When you walk with God, you do not know where He is taking you. You just follow Him in complete trust and surrender. God is opening new horizons. Everything is related. When couples conceive, the next thing is a baby. The expansion of our mission is within rational progression.”

On New Year Day, the IIF team led by Ibidunni and her husband, Pastor Ituah visited five hospitals within Lagos; including Island Maternity, Lagos, Ajeromi General Hospital in Ajegunle, the Mother and Child Hospital at Amuwo Odofin, the General Hospital in Mushin and the Gbagada General Hospital. At every facility, they distributed gifts to the babies born on New Year Day and their mothers. They also paid bills indigent patients

RomanceInspired By True Life Story: Love And Fail BY STEPSGUIDE by AlexReports(op): 9:31am On Nov 29, 2017
Irene, a very beautiful girl who was madly in love with a guy named Kelvin. Likewise, kelvin treasured Irene as well, since their secondary school days their entanglement made people wonder the kind of connection the two lovebirds had. Years later, she was on the verge of graduating from the university while Kelvin was unable to secure admission into the university, but he had a diploma certificate after which he joined one of the armed formed forces. For so many years, her love for him never budged in faithfulness and affection, neither had she ever looked down on him in any way.

As soon as she was done with school they got married as expected by everyone who knew about their love life. Irene believed that her happily ever after is finally at hand, little did she know that Kelvin had picked a certain habit that will need only God’s intervention to change from.

The bitter experience all started one evening when she came back home a bit late, she had tried calling his phone earlier to get him aware that she’ll be a little late home. That evening, she had gone to visit Toyin a friend of hers whom he knew very well. In the course of their discussion, comfort a secondary school friend of theirs surprisingly visited Toyin that day and the three of them were so excited for they haven’t seen each other in ages. Their conversation went further meanwhile, Kelvin could not be reached on the phone because at this stage he was already drunk in a bar and could not pick his phone.

Unfortunately, he got home before her, by the time she was back home he was furious and yelled at her, yelling; “you this stupid girl, where have you been?” In her perplexity, she sweetly asked: “honey when did you start drinking?” That got him angry and he mercilessly beat her up,  it took the intervention of good neighbors to rescue her out of his hands. That night, she cried all she could, and had to sleep over at her neighbor’s house.

The following morning, as if he was unaware of What happened the previous night, he asked his neighbor in a caring tone the where-about of his wife, the neighbor invited him to their house and gave him a piece of advice. On his knees he cried and begged his wife for forgiveness, there and then Irene forgave kelvin, they hugged and went back home living together as if nothing ever happened. Though from time to time, they had little issues that got Kevin furious and he gives her slaps that sometimes leaves her eyes swollen. Many a time she cries and wonders if truly it was still the Kelvin that she had known almost all her life.

Friends and family advised her to abandon the marriage but Irene would not succumb to divorce for to her marriage is for better and for Worse, hoping that one day her beloved kelvin would come back to her. On a terrible evening, Kelvin didn’t return home until late night, already drunk. she welcomed him but he scolded her, saying that while he was out she didn’t  bother to call him to know if he was okay. In an attempt to apologize, the beating started again, this time, he called her names, calling her a thief,  beating and asking her where his money was. The more she cried, pleading innocent, the more he beats her up, calling her names and saying to her “anytime we have little misunderstanding, you’ll report me to those amebo (gossip) neighbors, I’ll teach you a bitter lesson today” he continued yelling and hitting her with all his might, by the time the neighbors came to her rescue again, she was motionless and was rushed to the hospital where the doctor confirmed that she had sustained serious injury on the head and was in a coma…

Before Kelvin came back from the office that night he had a huge amount of money with him. While he was drinking, the bar owner took the money for safekeeping. The following morning, the bar owner made efforts to return the money to him while he had already beaten his darling wife to a coma. In realizing all this, he became sober and devastated, grieving beyond control and tried to commit suicide.

By the time his wife will gain consciousness, only God knows what her decision will be.. what will yours be? And what advice will you give to the wife and to the husband on the other hand?

Queen Moremi Ajasoro’s beauty pageant: Candidates advocate sacrifice, gender equality from nation’s leaders

Some of the 41candidates shortlisted for the final of the second edition of  Queen Moremi Ajasoro's (QMA) beauty pageant have advised the nation's leaders to emulate the heroic qualities of the legendary queen for a sustainable governance.
They told the media from Ile-Ife, Osun, where they were camped for training ahead of the grand finale slated for Dec.3 that the country's leaders must be ready to make sacrifices for national development.

They said that the legendary Queen Moremi Ajasoro (QMA) was an advocate of nationalism, peaceful co-existence, tolerance and exhibited heart of gold in her life time.
These virtues and other attributes made her to find solutions to the challenges that faced the people of Ile-Ife and its environs in those years, they said.
Reports said that the 41candidates were selected out of no fewer than 500 girls that obtained forms.

The Ooni of Ife, Oba Enitan Ogunwusi, also the initiator of the QMA project, provided N5million as payment for forms for those who could not afford the price.
A 24- year-old undergraduate, Miss Adebowale Akanbi-Akinlade, said that she chose to participate in the project because the legend was an epitome of leadership with a heart of gold.
"Our leaders should defend our country and not just their immediate society, because Moremi Ajasoro did not do this for Ile-Ife alone.
"She extended her fight against rape, child trafficking, killings and inhumanity to other areas within the Yoruba kingdom then.
"She exhibited her bravery and courage at all expense.
"As a prospective beauty queen, we have to be brave and courageous if we want to be successful.
"We must not see the contest as just emphasing  physical beauty, it involves the inner beauty which is about our good characters and responsibilities  as future mothers and protectors of our  people," she said.

Akanbi-Akinlade noted that the legendary QMA promoted the Yoruba language and culture which we should strive to promote among youth and leaders.
"We should encourage our leaders to promote our culture and traditions through festivals.
This will encourage our youths to embrace the wearing of their traditional clothes, eat native foods, and encourage them to visit their home towns to learn more about their roots,'' she said.
Also, Miss Theressa Oladele, who runs a skincare business, said that the legacies of QMA were so relevant in contemporary society that it should not be overlooked but should be emulated and exhibited by our leaders.
"The queen's traits are legacies we should all endeavour to exhibit, especially by our leaders to engender effective peace and development,'' she said.

Oladele said that promoting culture and tradition had always been something she aspired to doing since was growing up under her grandma.
"My grandma really helped in teaching and impacting our culture into my lifestyle.
"I can proudly say I do not have difficulties speaking Yoruba language despite English language being Nigeria's language of instruction.''
She said if successful, she would like to set up a foundation that would empower women, defend rape and sexually molested victims.
Another candidate, 20-year-old Ajibade Oluwatomiloba and a graduate of political science,  said she chose to participate in the pageant because she would want to eliminate gender inequality in  the country.
Oluwatomiloba, said that the queen was a model of sacrifice which every leader should possess.
"I will draw from QMA experience that leadership is earned by sacrifice which I will project when I win by assisting the internally displaced persons in Nigeria in particular.
"Her qualities are relevant to the development of our contemporary society, because it illustrates the early involvement of women in politics in Yoruba society and also highlights her heroic deeds.

"I speak Yoruba language very well and fluently and I will be promoting our culture and tradition by encouraging women to speak our language and wear African brands," she said.

Similarly, Miss Fadekemi Folarin, 22, said she chose to participate in the project because she wanted to exhibit selfless service, which she learnt from the queen.
The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member said,  " I chose to participate in the project because I want to represent my people and project my culture locally and Internationally, and also serve my people.
"The legendary queen was a beautiful, intelligent and selfless leader, who went as far as sacrificing her only son (Oluorongbo) to the Esirinmi River Goddess.
"How many can do that? And that stood her out and made her a relevant leadership model to our contemporary society especially to our Yoruba people," she said.
Folarin, a graduate of Guidance and Counseling urged ladies and women to emulate such courage, sacrifice, intelligence and bravery in promoting the culture and tradition of the nation.

The tenure of the incumbent queen, Miss Blessing Animashaun, a 600-level dental surgery student of the University of Ibadan, would end on Dec.3. She emerged the winner out of 375 contestants and was crowned by Oba Ogunwusi in Ile Ife in 2016.

Princess Ronke Ademiluyi, the ambassador of QMA also said that the overall winner would  get a N5 million investment fund, a brand new saloon car and  become the Cultural Ambassador to the Ooni of Ife for one year.
